Ok, so this is some pretty decent Thai. I'm still working my way through their menu, but the Phad…read moreThai is consistently pretty amazing. I'd also suggest you upgrade some of your meal to include shrimp, as they're local and quite amazing! Service is takeout only, so your ambiance is the waiting area......but service is ultra quick while you wait, and the food is piping hot. Is it exotic? Nope. Just danged solid Thai basics. But, their spice level is very adjustable. You're gonna get low spice unless you ask them to upgrade it. I confidently as for a five: Thai hot. It's honestly not that hot, but it adds a lot of flavor. They also have a really nice hot chili garlic sauce that I'd encourage you to try. For the Thai aficionados, Id drop it a star. But, it's not for them. If you just want good Thai and don't want to drive across the river, this is your option, and it's a darned good one! I'll update as I get into the curries......

It was lunchtime and we were hungry. We walked around looking at all the menus in the windows of…read morerestaurants..... not really impressed. I mean if your in Long Beach, WA. and you want fish N chips or a burger, you my friend have found paradise. We wanted neither, especially not at these prices. Earlier we noticed a Thai Food place but it didn't open till 2:00 and it was a little before 1:00pm. so we kept looking for something we both wanted and after saying No to all of it including the Mexican Food place with their high prices, we noticed it was almost 2:00pm. We figured by the time we walk back Malai Thai should be open and we were right. There is No Handicap Access and it's only a matter of time before that becomes an issue.....more of an issue. We saw an older person with a walker go inside and sit at 1 of 2 tables. They don't have table service, Only Take Out. That's right, TOGO Order's Only! That was fine for us because the sun was shining and we saw an empty picnic bench next to a fish pond with a fountain, perfect. We both ordered Pad Thai, she had chicken, I ordered mine with tofu. Bought some cold cans of soda and waited. Our food came out pretty fast. Then again, we were first in line that day. We grabbed our stuff and headed out to the picnic bench, perfect. We opened our boxes and everything looked and smelled delicious and it was. We didn't really talk while eating. Just the sound of a coastal town and us getting busy with our food.I judge all Thai Restaurants by how they make pad Thai. Malai Thai has it down good. The best was the prices. For one thing, costal restaurants charge tourists rates on everything. Like more than double in some cases. Do they think we don't have an Amazon account. Malai Thai was priced fairly. We were very happy with our meal and how much it cost. Definitely coming back and trying other menu items.

Spent Thanksgiving week in Oregon and was so lucky to have discovered this great Thai restaurant…read morewhile vacationing in Astoria. The food here was near perfection and warranted multiple visits in our 4-day stay in Astoria. The corn fritters were a great crunchy way to start the meal. Think fried creamed corn patties. The accompanying sauce tasted great and paired with the dunkable corn fritters they were a perfect appetizer. The fresh rolls, were just that, re-freshing. The peanut sauce was great. The chicken wings were fried perfectly, were crispy, and seasoned so wonderfully. I ordered these on each visit and enjoyed them every time. The Chicken Larb was good, not the best I've ever had, but very respectable. The chicken was not dried out, like a lot of places. The dish could have used a bit more spice and seasoning, but it was still very good. And lastly, the Shrimp Spicy Basil Stir Fry was delicious! It had perfectly sautéed shrimp, great spicy hot basil sauce, and vegetables that were fresh and delicious. It was so good and ate really well with. Just white rice. I can't wait to return to Astoria...I will definitely be back here every day they're open.

Ok......so let me start off with saying I love Thai. I'll get Phad Thai with chicken to check out…read moreany new place. That said, I've eaten it ordered from ladies squatting next to rocket stoves on the street...and I want my Thai properly spiced, like my eyelids oughta sweat. American Thai food is adjusted to our tastebuds. So, I typically get it as hot as I can, and add my own chili dust. Folks, I have met my new go-to Thai! They offer spice levels one through five. I ordered it a six. The server told me she could adjust it up to a nine spice level, if I needed that. Um, no ma'am! Six is delightful! Phad Thai tends to accentuate the savory and sweet in most presentations. Not so, this savory, crunchy, tart, and fiery masterclass in Thai noodles! It was incredible. I cannot wait to go back and put myself at the mercy of their amazing presentations of what many will visually recognize as "Thai"......but your tastebuds are in for a treat! This is a destination food truck, people! Wow. I decided, on the strength of the Phad Thai, I should taste the Thom Kha Gai I ordered before I chilled it for my intended lunch tomorrow...... Yeah, so Dee Dee has spice DOWN! Her food also has the delightful flavor layering I love most in really good SE Asian food. The mushrooms in the soup? Buttery, and perfectly cooked. A delightful springiness. The tomatoes are bright and soft. The onions still have body, and onion flavor........and there's a lot of lemongrass and galangal floating around in there! Like the other entree, the Thom Kha is super special. I'm so glad this is a local option for me......my belly has a delightful burn, my lips are only slightly numb, and I'm really content with my Thai tea and mango juice. Love this place already.
