#AfterWeLawyerWeEat. #FirstTimerAlert. Tatchen's (Freehold, NJ). Located in an unassuming strip mall, the shop welcomes you with an assortment of decor and character. Let me be myself, it says. This seems to be the theme. Start with a sampling of all the soups. And by all, I mean some of the most homemade and unique flavors I've had in sometime. Black Bean, Asparagus Fennel, Southern Peanut, Tuscan Dill, and the one I ordered Korean Chicken. Came with this soft and flavorful foccacia. After knocking that back, I had the Grown Up Tuna Sandwich. Minced Raw Yellowfin Tuna with a Soy-Sriracha Mayo and Pickles on Egg Bread. Great flavor, and consistency. Wash down the deliciousness with a Lue's Brew - Root Beer, and chase with a Chocolate Chip Cookie. The menu isn't expansive, but do a set amount of items, and do them damn well. 230p and he's out of his fresh baked bread. Selling out is always something that speaks volumes. Hands on approach, welcoming, great food, one of a kind flavors. A must try! Check it out! #MajorLeagueGrubbin #NomNomNom

Pork loin & swiss with bacon onion jam. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.

If you live in the freehold area, you have to try this place. Now I'm about to make a very bold statement. This place served me the best sandwich I've ever eaten, pork loin and swiss with bacon jam. Such a simple sandwich and I can't stop thinking about it. The corn chowder was incredible too. I still can't believe I stumbled cross this place while waiting for my pho next door. Met the owner, awesome guy. I will definitely be back every week.

I finally got a chance to go to 10 Course Tasting Dinner. The best way to describe it is "WOW!". Started it off with a cold blueberry soup and finished it off with a strawberry cheesecake. My favorites were the bacon jam and seared tuna. Every dish was delicious. Chef Mike described every course as they served them. He uses locally sourced ingredients. On this night he used all locally grown summer fruits and vegetables. Each and every course was delicious. There wasn't anything left on any of my plates. It's a BYOB. Great food, great price and great atmosphere. I highly recommend you go the next tasting dinner...but don't wait because it sells out quickly.

Fresh ingredients & food that's made in house...no need to say anything else! I had the adult Yellowfin tuna sandwich & a pumpkin ginger soup. They were both phenomenal! The owner Mike was very hospitable. I'm glad I stopped by to try out this gem.

The place sounds better than it tastes. The menu doesn't have a ton of items which is usually a good sign. After trying some of the sandwhiches the standout here is the bread. You can taste that it is freshly made but the contents of the sandwiches seem like an afterthought. The chicken salad was bland and needed something else to it. Nothing stood out to the sandwich other than the fresh bread. , The grown up tuna sandwich was more of the same. Not the best. The soups were better but I am not the biggest soup fan. The other standout were the chocolate chip cookies. They were delicious and a perfect end to an otherwise average meal. Come here for the fresh bread and cookies. 3 stars all the way.

a row of sandwiches on a cutting board

This is a hidden gem. The sandwiches are creative and delicious!!! Every try big is made with local ingredients and the soups are unlike anything I've had. Highly recommend this place. Great atmosphere on top of the great food.

My wife and I found this place by accident, what a great find. Local, fresh food, friendly atmosphere. We will be back again and again.

Get a reservation for the special "tasting dinners"! Not miniscule taste of food but big portions. You won't leave hungry or disappointed.

The subs were well put together and balanced, and the meats were all of good quality. We were all very satisfied after gobbling them down for dinner! The staff is super friendly, and made us feel at home as soon as we walked in the door. The inside of the business is neat and clean, and set up with inviting, inspirational decor. There is an area along the window with stools/counter where I'm sure you could sit down and have a sandwich or bowl of soup. Give these guys a shot, you won't be disappointed!

Their daily homemade soup menu is worth a look, with veggie and vegan options across the big board. Combo soup and sandwich is also in play. I went with a Tuna Hoagie on foot long torpedo, with accompanying soft drink and bag o' chips. The tuna was freshly made, with tomato and lettuce, and a side cup of sliced dill pickles that I stuffed into the sandwich for extra crunch and semi sweet flavor enhancement. I had requested that the proposed pickle spear not be built into the sammy to avoid dampening the roll too long before consuming. The cashier/order taker/short order cook took care of business with a pleasant smile and engaging repartee. Ate when I arrived home 40 minutes later, and everything was in great shape and quite tasty. I could only finish half of the meal. A larger selection of drinks and chips would make the experience more complete. 4 P'ton Stars for taking this tradition on the road.

Grabbed some organic produce which was all excellent- didn't love that the conventional section was much much bigger and there were less organic options. There's a burger window outside, a little cafe inside, a truck 'play structure' outside for little ones with a little slide.. beautiful plants and trees for sale .. the most delicious smelling jasmine plant I wish I took home.. a plethora of truffle cheeses (and other interesting cheeses)... and best of all the bakery. The raspberry cream puff was off the charts amazing. So good that I took a picture of it after slicing to post here.
