Pork loin & swiss with bacon onion jam. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.
Brad A.

If you live in the freehold area, you have to try this place. Now I'm about to make a very bold statement. This place served me the best sandwich I've ever eaten, pork loin and swiss with bacon jam. Such a simple sandwich and I can't stop thinking about it. The corn chowder was incredible too. I still can't believe I stumbled cross this place while waiting for my pho next door. Met the owner, awesome guy. I will definitely be back every week.

Seared Tuna

I finally got a chance to go to 10 Course Tasting Dinner. The best way to describe it is "WOW!". Started it off with a cold blueberry soup and finished it off with a strawberry cheesecake. My favorites were the bacon jam and seared tuna. Every dish was delicious. Chef Mike described every course as they served them. He uses locally sourced ingredients. On this night he used all locally grown summer fruits and vegetables. Each and every course was delicious. There wasn't anything left on any of my plates. It's a BYOB. Great food, great price and great atmosphere. I highly recommend you go the next tasting dinner...but don't wait because it sells out quickly.

Tuna sandwich & Pumpkin Ginger soup

Fresh ingredients & food that's made in house...no need to say anything else! I had the adult Yellowfin tuna sandwich & a pumpkin ginger soup. They were both phenomenal! The owner Mike was very hospitable. I'm glad I stopped by to try out this gem.

a row of sandwiches on a cutting board

This is a hidden gem. The sandwiches are creative and delicious!!! Every try big is made with local ingredients and the soups are unlike anything I've had. Highly recommend this place. Great atmosphere on top of the great food.

All grown up tuna sandwich
Nicholas G.

The place sounds better than it tastes. The menu doesn't have a ton of items which is usually a good sign. After trying some of the sandwhiches the standout here is the bread. You can taste that it is freshly made but the contents of the sandwiches seem like an afterthought. The chicken salad was bland and needed something else to it. Nothing stood out to the sandwich other than the fresh bread. , The grown up tuna sandwich was more of the same. Not the best. The soups were better but I am not the biggest soup fan. The other standout were the chocolate chip cookies. They were delicious and a perfect end to an otherwise average meal. Come here for the fresh bread and cookies. 3 stars all the way.

My wife and I found this place by accident, what a great find. Local, fresh food, friendly atmosphere. We will be back again and again.

I've enjoyed the Branzini very much ( fillet it to avoid bones) Their balloon bread is amazing with the Tapenade they serve. We always get their hummus. And their grape leaves. The Shephards salad which Is mostly tomato &cucumbers w a flavorful dressing (we put on side) .. there's just something about using their balloon bread to scoop up your salad and dips... Yep, we always get a second order of the bread... It's very light and thin and doesn't feel as gluttonous. Everybody is very courteous... It's like going to a restaurant in the city... A belly like dancer surprised us on a Friday night which was fun. I don't really wanna recommend this too much because I don't want it to get so busy that I can't get in when I want to lol but seriously it's a really great experience. They do have wine, but we bring our own and they are happy to fill a glass! Enjoy

It takes about 30 minutes to get your food and even longer to get a check after the fact. Which is crazy because my table was only one out of 3 other tables in the restaurant. A 20% tip is automatically applied to your bill, and then still asked if you want to tip ON TOP OF THE FACT so pay attention to your bill! Part of me thinks the reason the service isn't as good is because they know they're automatically getting that tip, but another part of me hopes that isn't the case. Ambiance is nice, very beautiful and great place for pictures.

We started an order of Mussels with a lime and cilantro sauce, Shrimp Torte (artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, shitake mushrooms, capers and green olives - in a white wine sauce topped with feta cheese), along with Octopus. Everything was terrific! Entrees consisted of a huge Cioppino consisting of shrimp, mussels, clams, wild cod, escargot, octopus and crab legs in a shrimp tarragon sauce over spanish risotto - way too big to finish! Branzino with oven roasted tomatoes over yellow corn risotto. Pistacio encrusted wild salmon with fingerling potatoes and butternut squash. Chargrilled Rack of Lamb with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. To finish off a terrific dinner we ordered the Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Torte, Hazelnut Baclava and Banana Foster. Octopus was grilled to perfection as were the lamb dishes. Our server brought a fresh basket of warm pita for the tagine and that was much appreciated. The only issue we had was that the hummus was a bit on the tangy side and slightly runny. Desserts and Moroccan coffee were the perfect end to our meal. Big thank you to Chef Ash for the absolutely delicious mango panna cotta.

I can't believe I waited so long to come back to Harvest. What was I thinking ?…read more We went out for lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday and Harvest turned out to be a great choice! The location is a little further than we would normally travel, but it was worth it. I loved all the farm to table foods they have. They even nicely promote all the partners they use right on the wall of the restaurant, so you know where all your food comes from. Everyone loved their meals! I had the Thai chicken sandwich and it was so flavorful and delicious. It came with a side and I picked baked sweet potato wedges that were really good and so memorable that a week later I am still thinking about them. Other dishes ordered were the chicken salad and strawberry salad which my friends both enjoyed. Our server was very good and didn't rush us as we were just chatting up a storm. The restaurant suggests reservations which are a good idea, especially for dinner. I will definitely be back and can't wait to put Harvest on my restaurant rotation. Sorry no photos this time... the food was just so good and we were hungry!

Tucked away in a small town, you will find a cozy nook to discover American cuisine…read more Brand: 5/5 Harvest is a small restaurant in Farmingdale specializing in New American cuisine. The entrance stands out in this borough, despite its small size. I do think that sign with the wooden background reflected the cozy interior quite well with a homey style. The country décor on the walls also enhances the aesthetics. Website: 5/5 It wastes no time, for it immediately opens you to the menu where most of the items have their own images. I appreciated the minimalistic design where the understandable font provides you with the information. The basic description of the establishment does say that they rely on locally sourced ingredients. Ambiance: 5/5 Normally, dark interiors would not necessarily work for eateries unless they achieve a cozy vibe; which is what Harvest did perfectly. The wooden walls provide a sense of comfort underneath lights dim enough to not offend the eyes but bright enough to see. Despite the cramped space, I did think that the interior fitted the ambiance, along with the smooth country music playing over the radio. Service: 5/5 The staff was quite jovial and patiently explained a part of the menu. We had no issues with our orders. Wait Time: 5/5 I did wait awhile for the meals, though we managed to get our orders without any interruptions. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Grilled Chicken Thai Sandwich with no additional sides, with a free, complementary glass of water. It has ciabatta beard containing grilled chicken, spinach, cucumbers, and Thai sauce. I do not know if the signature sauce is authentically Thai, but I will say that I could barely tolerate the pungent taste and smell. I cannot say whether it is the feature. Every other part, such as the spinach and the cucumbers, definitely complemented the grilled chicken with a juicy taste. The ciabatta bread buns managed to hold their form, even as the contents started to fall off. Worth The Money?: 2/5 I will say that Harvest brand has as much of a highfalutin status as its prices. While the restaurant reflects the New American cuisine, it does not come off as condescending. Nevertheless, I still thought that the limited menu items just do not help with the prices. For the website, I would suggest a list of all the farms and independent distributors that Harvest relies on for ingredients, and to include a backstory about how Harvest began and where the name came from. I find local-sourcing incredibly important and commend Harvest for incorporating this into their business model. Concerning the food, I will say that the Grilled Chicken Thai sandwich did have suffice within the ambiance. The wait time it took to make the meal was appropriate enough. I will say that the wait time did feel long within the establishment, especially when no one else was around. Nevertheless, the service did make the food worth the wait and the ambiance worth immersing in. With all of this being said, would I say that the overall price would bring me back? Not really. Even the complementary water could not win me over when compared to the prices. Prestigious New American eateries tend to have a focus on specific consumer bases, and I am just not one of them. I do not score low on this part out of spite, rather based on my current station and many other people. I did tip the staff and I did have enough satisfaction with the meal. Rating: 4/5 Stars I do not know how Harvest would carry itself into the future, though I can see how it would suffice as a New American restaurant. Recommend To... Anyone with enough disposable income looking for a quiet restaurant.
