YB is a small cafe in downtown Freehold where you walk up to the counter to order and then take a seat. Then the hostess, who is always friendly and greets you with a smile, brings your food. On this particular day I had a yearning for grits so I ordered a bowl with cheddar cheese and an over easy egg on top, along with a shrimp po boy snack wrap. Snack wrap was very good. I've been wanting to come here for a while but I kept thinking the place was small and there wasn't any place to sit and eat. Boy, was I wrong! When Hubs and I got here, we ordered at the counter and sat down. There were quite a few tables in there for dining in. Hubs had the Coastal Melt, which has mozzarella, crispy panko shrimp and spinach sandwiched between garlicky grilled sourdough. He said that he didn't expect much but it turned out to be a seafood grilled cheese melt. The bread was nice and fresh and he enjoyed the sourdough in it. Hubs said that it was better than expected. Lastly, I had the Classic Breakfast, which is two eggs your way, choice of meat, home fries or grits and toast. I got my eggs over easy, with home fries and sausage patty along with whole wheat toast. This was pretty good. I enjoyed this, as well. Service was friendly and quick. I dropped in for a snack and coffee before while I was in town. I'm glad I did because the staff member upfront was so kind and helpful. I can tell this is a much loved spot as they even knew a customers order by heart. I got a small coffee and the YB bread pudding. The coffee wasn't my favorite, but the bread pudding was AMAZING. It's decadent, properly sweet, and moist - the makings of the perfect dessert The staff was kind enough to even offer to warm it up if I was staying. It absolutely makes all the difference. Had no idea this place existed but found it on Yelp. The reviews are through the roof so you know I had to try. It is a nice clean spot and the staff was friendly. I came for lunch so I ordered a couple of sandwiches. I tried the chicken pesto melt and bbq pork grilled cheese. They were both very good sandwiches in terms of flavor but I couldn't get over how oily the sandwiches were. The bread was soaked. We also tried the tomato soup that had a good tomato flavor. Sometimes tomato soup could be bland but this had good seasoning to it. I will say the bread pudding was delicous. The texture was luscious and the flavor was perfect. That is a must order if you come here. I wish them the best because they have a lot of passion for what they do. The sandwiches were good but with a little tweaking will be even better. A decent lunch in Freehold, though nothing too special. It is comparable to Panera, but with a better price point. I got the "Souper Combo" ($8.50) which comes with a half sandwich and a soup. The pulled pork grilled cheese was very good and would definitely recommend that! For soup, I got the corn chowder which was good but a little salty (I've definitely had better). In terms of decor, they could definitely use a bit of a boost! Interior is clean and comfortable, but some wall decorations to set a certain vibe would elevate the environment. YB Eatery wouldn't be at the top of my list of recommendations in Freehold, but still a solid lunch if you're in the area! read more

What a glorious find, thanks Yelp! They're right in the heart of downtown Freehold where you can find a number of good places to eat but they aren't on Main Street. Just a quick dash onto Court Street (free parking abounds) and you find thus absolute gem. I chanced upon it a couple of months ago while in the area around noon and took a shot based on yelp. I had some difficulty making a decision, everlasting new to me, everything sounded better than the last. I went with the Pulled Pork GC. ........ it was made, scratch that built, exactly the way I like it and it just got better from there. I became an instant fan. Today I stopped in again with my SO and hoped my first experience would be matched and she would embrace this treasure like I did. I ordered the Meatball Mashup, a little daring for me as it has Pesto, which I can take or leave. The owner assured me I would like it and she was spot on, Thank you! Again an absolute joy of a meal. It was large enough to eat the other half later and it was still fantastic even reheated. My gal had the Pesto Chicken sandwich which she absolutely loved and couldn't stop gushing over. Needless to say we are both looking forward to coming back and trying many more items from the delicious menu. My husband called ahead to make sure the sidewalks were safe this morning and the girls were happy to inform us that they were completely safe and clean. The eatery, was bright, clean, and tables were spaced out perfectly. We were pleasantly greeted and service was great. We ordered pulled pork grilled cheese, and I ordered a cup of split pea soup. The sandwiches were grilled perfectly and the slaw gave it such a great flavor. My soup was delicious, and a cup was more than enough. The ladies behind the counter were nice and fun to chat with. Thats why I was so pleased to find YB Eatery. First of all, there's just something so satisfying about a BLT, when the lettuce is crunchy, the tomatoes are fresh and the bread is toasted just right. Ive also had the shrimp and grits, zeppoles, and pulled pork grilled cheese. My husband is obsessed with their beef patties (which you need to call in 30min in advance) and steals them from me when I'm not looking. In addition to the regular menu, they have weekly specials that are always interesting and yummy. The prices are quite reasonable and the staff are always super nice.
