Hello All, We have been fortunate to have Shawn Tate and Son on three of our home remodels through the years. They all have come out better than we anticipated. His crew is very friendly and will take the time to answer any questions. His crew is very professional and truly work hard to make the end product very nice. If you're lucky enough to get Tate and Son on your next remodel you will quickly understand. Good luck with your next project. And thank you again Shawn.

The best contractor company we had a pleasure of dealing with! They did an amazing job remodeling our retail store. The works were done very cleanly and super fast. Their price is the lowest after shopping around at 5 other contractors near by. Evan is great guy. He went above and beyond in helping us even after the job is finished and invoice is paid off. We will definitely recommend them to others.

My cut - with jagged edges

I was working on a DIY herring bone tile inset project to go above my stove. But when we cut the mosaic tile the edges came out chipped and ragged - see first picture below. I even bought a scoring tile cutter, but the cuts chipped and were not straight. I called 4 tile contractors and no one answered their phone. I was about to give up on this project when Shawn Tate called me back. I described my project and asked if he could cut my tiles, if I came to the job site. He arranged for his workers to cut my tile. I drove to the work site and Armando and his helpers were really nice. He graciously cut the tile pieces for me and his helper sanded the edges free of charge. I didn't think it would be possible to cut these tiles straight without chipping. You can see in the 2 pictures what a fine job they did compared to the ragged edges that we had cut. They also showed me how to sand the edges. I observed the other mosaic tiles they had cut for their current job and the quality was excellent, the cuts clean and straight. I would still be trying to figure out what to do, if Shawn and Armando had not helped me out. They are great folks, friendly, courteous, and they did a beautiful job on my tile. If you are looking for someone to do your tile, I highly recommend Tate and Son. Thank you Shawn and Armando!

Shawn came highly recommended and lived up to the recommendations. We needed a bathroom remodel to remove a bathtub and replace with a shower so that we could access with a wheelchair. Shawn's team did the job quickly and kept the costs reasonable. Alfonso led the job and was so patient and knowledgeable about finishes and fixtures. I would definitely recommend Tate and Son for your next project!

a bathroom with a large bathtub

We were so upset when we had a leak from our master bath into our kitchen. Our insurance wasn't going to cover much. Luckily we felt confident with Shawn's team to stay within our budget and he even helped us advocate to get more from our insurance. It also turned out beautiful so now we are so excited we redid the master bath. I will include before and after pictures!

Based on that storyline, they're refusing to take responsibility for the flooring damage. The windows were installed without permits. I brought in four independent inspections, including three licensed general contractors and one home inspector. All confirmed active water intrusion and pointed to the window installation as the likely source. Despite that, Forever Builders continues to deny, redirect, and avoid addressing the actual installation. The floors never had water intrusion before the remodel. The problem started after their work. Instead of owning it and fixing it, they've chosen to argue technicalities and wait for CSLB to force the issue. For a company that promotes itself as 5-star, this has been anything but. When serious defects surface, there's no urgency, no accountability, and no effort to stand behind the work. Just excuses. That is not 5-star service. That is not what integrity looks like.

Review Update (2026)…read more I am updating my original 5-star review from a few years ago. At the time, we were very happy with our kitchen remodel and the overall experience working with Creative Design & Build. The project turned out beautifully, which is why I originally left such a positive review. Over the years, however, I noticed that one section of the flooring felt slightly soft when walking on it. At first, it did not seem serious, so we continued to live with it. Recently, the problem became worse and a section of the floor began to noticeably sink when stepped on and eventually a few edges of the flooring broke. At that point, I became concerned that it could become a safety issue. Because we still had plenty of spare flooring boards left over from the project, I attempted to replace the affected board myself. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the new board to fit correctly due to the locking system, and I could not restore the original board either. I then contacted Creative Design & Build for assistance. One reason I reached out was because our original project manager, Oded, had told us that if we ever had any issues, we should contact the company. I left a voicemail and later received a return call from a staff member. After I explained the situation, she said she would check with management and get back to me. A few days later, I received a text message stating that the warranty had expired and that no repairs would be covered. This was disappointing because I had never been informed that there was a four-year warranty period, nor was I able to find any reference to such a limitation in our contract. When I asked for details regarding the warranty and whether they could recommend someone to repair the issue, I did not receive any further response. There were two other issues relating to electrical and plumbing, however we decided to live with that until we had a major problem we needed fixing. I still appreciate the work that was done on our remodel years ago, and our kitchen remains a space we enjoy. However, I have been disappointed by the lack of follow-up and support when a problem arose. My advice to future customers is to make sure all warranty terms, coverage details, and expiration dates are clearly documented and understood before signing a contract.
