Delicious. Genius. You can find these guys at the side of Edelweiss in warm springs during the ski season and most events around town.

There were lots of options and the first thing we started with was a loaf of the sourdough bread. When we asked how large it would be the waiter responded "the size of a small baby" lol. He wasn't entirely wrong either, it was a pretty good size. It was so good paired with the whipped feta and pimento cheese. I am not normally a huge pimento fan, but this was really good. Next we had one of the salads, but it wasn't the star of the show, still tasty though. The pierogis were quite good and had a good consistency. We did make friends with the table next to us who ordered almost 1 of everything on the menu and raved about even the stuff we did not try so it seemed like you couldn't go wrong no matter what you order.

Hubby liked the smoked whitefish and said he would have it again. The house-made and baked sourdough was delish and we took a half loaf home to enjoy tomorrow. The sausage charcuterie board was great. The highlight for us was the house-made bacon which had a great spiciness. The bratwurst was really good paired with the house mustard, and the kielbasa was good as well, although not our fave. We just preferred the brat and bacon. We shared the fried chicken for two and it didn't disappoint. The coating was crunchy and well-seasoned. It did fall off, but if you held tightly, you could get a great bite of both the breading and the moist chicken beneath. They served three sauces with it which were all complimentary and offered a choice for everyone. The mashed potatoes were reminiscent of those we've had at a few fine dining establishments such as Joel Robuchon, (although these fell short of that, they were quite tasty and deserved of their own accolades). The shaved broccoli salad was the hit of the meal. It delivered on all taste elements. The ambiance reminded us of a cozy Bavarian restaurant. There was lots of wood, cozy tables and chalet-style decor. All that was missing may be a cheese fondue. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered that in the winter season. The prices were very reasonable and could fit almost any dining budget depending upon the menu selection. A rare find anywhere, but especially in such a small town. Don't miss this special place if you're in Stanley or the surrounding area. It's worth a visit just to grab a loaf of bread for your trail sandwiches.

The decor is garage or frat boy chic with a collection of old beer cans on the wall. We ordered hamburgers with fries that included pickles, lettuce and their sauce. Inside dining is very tight. The service was quick and the fries were hot, nicely salted. The burger was decent and filled a void. The male or owner behind the counter must be deaf as he was speaking at a shouting level. His history of past drug use drowned out our conversation. I'm sure he was trying to be engaging, but dude, no one wants to hear of your sorted history. DIAL IT BACK! It is not just about you. If I finished a day of skiing, Grumpys' might be a better option. The food was quick and inexpensive. To be honest, it is a burger / bar shack. I just don't care to hear some employee over shouting and sharing his past at the top of his lungs. I've been to remote truck stops with cleaner restrooms. Absolutely no need to return.

There is almost always a large crowd gathered out front, which usually tells you everything you need to know--but we finally made a point to stop in for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. The Brews Since it's a public house, the beer list is extensive. I opted for their Pilsner and Lager. Both were exactly what you want on a warm afternoon: light, crisp, and incredibly refreshing. The Food We decided to put their "best in town" claims to the test, and they did not disappoint: * Fish and Chips: They advertise these as some of the best around, and I'm happy to report they aren't exaggerating. The breading was perfectly light--not greasy or heavy--and the fish itself was delicate, flaky, and cooked to perfection. * BLT with Grilled Halloumi: My wife went with this, and the addition of the halloumi was a game-changer. Served on a pretzel bun, it was a unique and delicious twist on a classic. * The Fries: You can't have a pub lunch without good fries. These are those "just right" beer pub fries--crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Easily my favorite style. Verdict The atmosphere was great, the service handled the crowd well, and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be back for lunch on our next trip. If you're in Ketchum, don't just drive by--give it a try.

From the mug club, it seems like this is a local staple. There's trivia on Tuesdays. TVs on the walls. Picnic tables outside, if you're so inclined. I think some pubs just order from Sysco, fry it up and serve. Five stars because they're not doing that! Their food was "pub" but the elk burger was handmade and fresh, the pot pie wasn't out of a can thought the veg maybe been frozen not fresh, and some of the store bought stuff like their pretzel seemed better than a defrosted ballpark.
