We were so glad to stop in for a late breakfast. This cafe didn't disappoint. It was bright and clean, and the counter service was friendly and quick. We ordered breakfast sandwiches which were really good, nice portions. The prices were very fair as well! Great quality and fresh, everything! We also ordered a cappuccino and espresso, with a cherry almond scone. It was so hard to choose from the large assortment of fresh baked goods. Tatte was a perfect breakfast stop after a morning run. My friend frequents their various locations around DC, so she brought me to this one near the White House to try it out. There are plenty of tables inside, with some outside as well. It was loud and lively, although I saw some people working on their laptops. I found the menu prices to be very reasonable. I got the muesli bowl ($10.73), which was a filling Greek yogurt bowl with granola, berries, pear, and apple. It was very tasty, and the presentation was fantastic. I was in the city and searched the area on Yelp for a great coffee shop and this was the perfect spot. I made my stop around 7am and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Very comfortable seating inside with a patio area outside. With my large latte, I selected a cherry scone and they were both delicious. I am back in the city later in the month and I will stop by again. It's also a few blocks away from the White House. Make sure you stop by and give them a try. Enjoy! read more

Not sure if this is how they do it at Tatte, but my mocha had bits of cocoa in it as if the chocolate hadn't gotten a chance to melt before being poured over ice. Tatte Cafe has multiple locations in Washington DC and this is the Farragut Square location. There were slight variations in the menu at different branches. Different chefs too so some locations may be better than others. I liked the food at the City Center one, but not as much here. Maybe the items were just hit and miss. Having been to two different ones, I'd say Shaksuka is the best tasting and more unique dishes here. * House Breakfast Plate 3/5 - This was okay. The potato fritters were so salty that it was inedible. I got sausage instead of bacon, and it was alright. A bit oily and heavy on the herbs and spices. I got challah bread instead of sourdough bread and it was the softer version which I like. The eggs were perfectly cooked over easy and seasoned with salt and pepper. * Potato, Mushroom, and Bacon Shakshuka 4.5/5 - This tasted similar to clam chowder and was actually pretty good. The mushroom was shiitake mushroom. There was also baby spinach which added a healthy touch. The poached egg was also yummy. * Pistachio Latte 3/5 - Tasted like a decent coffee latte. While I didn't get to try their food this time, I really enjoyed the ambiance--it's bright, inviting, and has plenty of seating. I also loved the layout, with dedicated spaces for bakery items, drinks, and food. You order at the counter, and the service was great. Tatte never misses. When looking for a solid cafe where you know anything you order will taste great- Tatte is your place. This is my second time to this location and my friend and I got the yogurt bowl, the shakshouka, and a chocolate chip cookie. The yogurt bowl was delicious- the greek yogurt was so creamy, the granola wasn't too sweet, and the berries on top were perfect. The shakshouka was amazing also- the portion was huge for the price and the bread was so buttery. The chocolate chip cookie was crispy and buttery and just a 10/10. It was pretty busy on a Tuesday morning but the lines went quick and the food came out within 5-10 minutes. If you're anywhere near a Tatte and hungry or thirsty, definitely stop in. read more

Tatte was a delicious option for a quick breakfast. We stopped by looking for a bakery and this was exactly what we were looking for. They had a great assortment of pastries and I wish I could've tried more. It is counter service for the pastries which was very quick and the employees were very nice as-well. It was also a really nice interior with a cool bakery atmosphere. I had the fresh orange juice which was delicious and you could taste the freshness. The pistachio croissant was also good, but it was a little cool as it had been sitting out on the display. Despite this though it was really tasty and I'd love to order a hot one if I had the chance. The prices were a bit high ($6 for the orange juice and $5 for the croissant) but they also delivered on quality to match those prices so I wasn't disappointed. Tatte was a great spot for a Friday lunch, a little business and a little personal. The outdoor patio was a good setup for the nice weather we were having. My party assembled slowly, and we were not rushed at all. The ginger oatmilk latte was small, but oh so good. We gabbed so much, I had to take my lunch to go - the spiced shrimp and avocado mousse salad. It didn't travel the best, even just up the street, but was just fine. The shrimp were lightly "spiced" but not spicy at all. I thought they'd forgotten the avocado and I saw no mousse, but after a few bites I saw the moussed avocado was at the bottom of the box, and once mixed, it was just right. The atmosphere is just so nice, and while there can be lines, it gives you time to look at all the amazing pastries they have to offer. I got their little cinnamon pastry, which was unique and really good when warmed up. The tomato and mozzarella flatbread was bursting with flavor--so delicious! I also tried an iced matcha with a little honey, and it was fantastic. The vibes here are great, and the workers are super friendly, answering all my questions. Another excellent experience at Tatte. I would love to see each of their locations! This one is considerably smaller than the GWU campus location, but is still somehow able to efficiently serve the public servants and professionals who line up for a cup of joe! My boyfriend and I stopped by to get some tea and a pastry. We decided on the Gluten Free Chocolate muffin. The tea was the great, but the muffin had nuts, which was NOT listed on the card in the case. My boyfriend confirmed there were walnuts in the muffin. I have a severe peanut allergy that requires an EpiPen, and have a few other mild allergies, specifically other tree nuts. I know to ask, etc, and read labels, but I also would like to believe that most restaurants/cafes would probably label their foods. I went back to confirm whether or not the card said it had nuts, and I was right - it only listed "contains milk and eggs." The kicker - I went to the cashier, and she told me that in their system on the register, the muffin is flagged as a nut allergy! And they have plenty of other pastries labeled with nuts. I informed the cashier that this was incredibly dangerous for people who may have a severe walnut allergy, and questioned why they wouldn't label their pastry that clearly had nuts in it. I know it is not the cashier's fault, and I hope she relayed the information to the correct parties. read more

I really enjoyed looking at the bakery case at the variety of baked goods they offered. Everything g looked scrumptious! I purchased one plain brownie and one iced coffee to go. The brownie was divine! Both chocolatey and chewie in all the ways a brownie should be. The coffee was good. I was hoping for better creamer options. They offered half and half, whole milk, and oat milk on a nearby table. Sugar options were sugar packets. I was disappointed with the limited cold coffee mix in options for a cafe with an upscale ambiance. I would visit here again given the opportunity. read more

Great ambiance, stellar food!! A short walk from the White House which was great after our tour there. When you walk inside, it is light, airy, and open. The menu is extensive and has so many incredible options to choose from. We went with a strawberry, roasted peach and chicken salad along with the braised short rib and eggplant couscous bowl. This Tatte is always busy due to the location, so be prepared to wait for a seat if you are dining in. Their coffee is pretty good. I really like that they use unsweetened almond milk. The menu is expansive and there are so many options. My personal food recommendations: Avocado Breakfast Sandwich (I do it on GF bread) and the traditional shakshuka. My one wish for Tatte is to consider having light breakfast options such as egg white bites, or English muffin sandwiches. The interior of this place is beautiful, there's small tables or bar seating depending on how social you feel. It seems to be both a cafe and bakery, we dropped in to try some of the pastries. We got two things but the total was more than $20, but I guess that's expected given the location. Lines were long so we could tell it was a popular place. Would've liked to try the food but lines deterred us lol. We tried the passionfruit tart and a raspberry pavlova. This is one of my favorite Tatte cafes. I love how big and spacious this cafe is! It has so many seating options available and they all have multiple areas with charging ports making it perfect to work at. This cafe does get pretty busy between 10-1 am but the staff is very nice and they work efficiently. When I visited I had an Iced Matcha and the Lamb Kabob Plate which was so delicious and flavorful! I love that they have healthy food options that don't compromise on taste! My friend had the Blood Orange and Hibiscus tea which she said was really good. They have tons of vegetarian options as well as a wide selection of meat offfering meals. They have a bakery on site with tons of freshly baked breads and pastries as well as a variety of desserts. The cafe has restrooms, they are not gender neutral but they are multi stall restrooms. There is also very limited street parking in the area. read more

Big Tatte fan, and even though apparently this location is relatively new, it is already running very well. Like all Tattes, they have an absolute glut of tantalizing pastries sitting out for your viewing pleasure, and I couldn't possibly resist. It's a beautiful space with plenty of seating right next to the windows so catch some nice natural light. I came in for breakfast just before I had to get on the train to Reagan to catch my flight out of DC =( To make sure I enjoyed it to the max before leaving town, I got a pastry plus a breakfast dish, and my breakfast buddy did as well. I had a palmier and the spinach/egg/corn plate. The palmier was perfect, so flaky, so buttery. The spinach egg and corn plate, despite being vegetarian, was tremendously hearty and satisfying. The garlic labneh is amazing, and everything is well proportioned on the plate. The sourdough is toasty and buttery, yum yum yum. Everything is running really smoothly here in terms of service, definitely stop in if you're in the neighborhood. read more
