Justin is a great artist with a unique style of his own that he brings to tattooing. You can let him run wild and create something completely original and awesome, or bring in your own idea and he'll do a great job with that as well. One thing that stands out in my opinion is his color saturation. He doesn't miss a spot. I've been to him twice now and i never had to return for a touch up. I definitely see myself returning.

After scouring yelp for the last few months, I did what I always do and acted impulsively when I chose this shop- based on images and previous good reviews of course. Often, even the initial phone call to a tattoo shop results in a Boys Club vibe, but I called pretty early on Monday and spoke to John about coming in. He was really personable on the phone, asked me about what I was looking to get done, and told me he had walk-in availability that afternoon. I walked in and showed him a few pictures and he took about 20 minutes to come up with exactly what I was picturing. His tattoo set-up was clean, he opened the needles in front of me (as all artists should), and went to work on my shoulder. John is a great and comfortable person to talk to while hes working, but doesn't force any convo if you're not in the mood. Congrats John, you're stuck with me for awhile while we work on my sleeve.

Don't let the small shop fool you, this place is perfect! Got a tattoo here to recover and fall back in love with tattoo'ing from the horror & agony I experienced with Apollo Tattoo Studio in SantaMonica. And it was great!!! I have been pondering about getting a tattoo done for years. What would it be, where would it go and so on.. I had driven by this shop once a week or so I felt a good vibe just by looking at it. I had a very rough day and was full of anger and resentment, not good. I really didn't know how to handle my emotions and from God himself he told me get a tattoo. The physical pain will distract me from my emotions. So I went for it and called. Caesar answered and said he had 5p slot available so I took it. When I got there I showed him a few pictures that I thought would be good for a first tattoo. Caesar took a look and said I made a good choice and he would put his artistic touch into the design. And boy did he ever! Amazing transformation of a simple drawing into an intense a beautiful work of art that has great meaning for me. Caesar is so chill, he took good care of me and answered all my concerns with kindness. The owner John is also a very good dude. Great studio. Clean. Neat place. John did my tattoo. He often does his design free hand or the traditional way if you know what you want. Or else he is a great artist. Sanitizes everything before after and sometimes even during the process. Super clean and relaxing. I believe everyone walked out with big smile on their face. I like how they have books and dvds just in case the tattoos take too long so customers don't get bored or have a distraction if it hurts. If it's your first time getting one, head over here. It's a great first time experience. He talks you through the process and understands the customers very well. I made an appointment here based on the Yelp reviews and had a great experience. Jon is a really nice, welcoming guy and was receptive to the idea I presented to him. He quoted me a price and then we made an appointment for the following week. The tattoo was a coverup. He did a great job and made sure I was satisfied with everything along the way. He's a local guy and he appreciated the fact that I was supporting a local business. Overall, I definitely recommend tattoo lab for the great tattoo I got as well as the great customer service experience. A plus: he takes Venmo. I have been meaning to get a tattoo for years and finally decided to get one. The atmosphere was extremely friendly and I was assisted by Cesar. He was extremely friendly and listened to my idea. It took him about two or three days to sketch out my idea and I loved it. I then scheduled an appointment for my tattoo that same week. It took a total of six hours and he was extremely gentle and cared about my comfort. He always checked to see if I was alright and if the pain was too much. Afterwards, he instructed me thoroughly how to take care of my tattoo. I got my tattoo in October 2019 and it's been a couple months now and I'm immensely in love with it! I am already having any ideas for my second tattoo. I was made aware that Cesar only works a couple of months during the year (since he's from Mexico) but he praised his fellow tattoo artists. Although I would love for Cesar to give me my second tattoo, I trust his work and judgement and wouldn't mind having another tattoo artist from Tattoo Lab give me my second tattoo! The entire piece cost me $500, which I thought was great! read more

I walked into Tattoo Lab based on their 5 stars looking for a nose piercing. They no longer do piercings, however, the two artists Jonathan and Joel made my friend and I feel right at home as soon as we walked in so we decided to stick around and check out their work on clients who were waiting ahead of us. Impressed, my friend decided to get her birthday tat a week early. After seeing Joel aka Old Macdonald AKA Pizza Wulf's line work I was compelled to get my very first tattoo. I was not disappointed, rather calm af and completely satisfied. This shop is small, cozy and the artists are local boys who do amazing work. I will be back for my next piece very soon. read more

Carolina is one of the best you'll ever meet! She is extremely professional and very clearly is passionate about her job. Not only does she walk you through the entire piercing process but she reassures that you are comfortable and ready! She is also great at communicating and responding if you DM her any questions. A year ago I came here to fix an industrial piercing I got somewhere else that the guy f*** up. She took good care of me and I got my industrial redone. It has healed so good. A few weeks ago I went back to LA and I had to go get another piercing. I gOt my conch done and it's healing perfectly. It's May and my 30th birthday is coming up and I didn't really know what I wanted - then it occurred to me that I've always wanted this design of the Serbian coat of arms/orthodox cross (I'm very patriotic ) on my back - for years (since I was about 18) however I was always too much of a pussy to go get it done.. Not knowing what I wanted, my husband persuaded me to have it done as a 30th bday gift from him (how could I say no)? Phoned around to different tattoo parlours and most were not very helpful or forthcoming on the phone.. My final call was to The Tattoo Lab and Jonathan was extremely helpful - he returned my call within 10mins and had a proper conversation with me about what I wanted.. I sent him photos of exactly what I wanted and when I arrived for my appt he designed a beautiful piece! It took 4 and a half hours (yes a long arse day) but was worth every minute! Dude has some seriously steady hands, and a light touch. Great with linework. I'm really pleased. Really laid-back shop, art all over the walls, reggae on the radio, chill place to get some ink. They're occasionally able to take clients on short notice. If you're coming from the West, you can't actually see it from the street, and parking is around the corner. read more

Although I knew almost nothing about the process of getting a tattoo and didn't even know what I wanted to get, the owner Jon explained everything to me in simple terms and was even nice enough to sit with me while we searched through his many art books and found what was perfect. He is a very talented artist and much of what you can find here is original art and CANNOT be found anyplace else. I had a good experience here today. I have a lot of large-scale ink, but I came in for a very tiny finger tattoo after being referred by a friend. I sent an email inquiry a few days ago and got a response by text within a few hours. Jonathan was great about looking for a workable design, trying a few things out and then getting the placement just right. The tattoo itself took very little time and it came out looking as I had envisioned it. It still has to go through the healing process to see the final result, but Jon understands this and let me know I could come by later on for touch ups if needed. I will feel comfortable doing so. Got a piercing here for my 21st BDay and they took such great care of me! Literally the kindest people ever and also VERY good at their work! Not to mention I came back here over 10 TIMES over the span of 5 MONTHS after I KEPT having issues with my nose piercing. And every time I came in they helped me clean and care for my piercing free of charge. I don't have enough kind things to say about them honestly. 10/10 would recommend getting your piercing or tattoo done here read more

I was bummed because I looked up his work on their site and his IG and really liked it. They gave me other days to have the tattoo done by him, but it didn't work with my schedule. Well, when I walked into the shop I'm pretty sure it was him in there working on a tattoo with someone else. W/e no biggie. Maybe things changed or he just wasn't up for my tattoo idea. Berkant was the artist I ended up with. He arrived right at my scheduled time. He was straight forward no small talk, which I prefer so that was nice. Unfortunately I don't believe the details of this appointment were discussed with him as he had to take multiple breaks to get on the phone with the shop managers (they were not there). Was quoted $1k for 8 to 10 inch tattoo, it's just at 7.5. Artist Info on their site says he is quick and he definitely was. There isn't much detail to my tattoo, tho. They were given an inspo pic, and I would have thought that they never saw it. The actual tattoo is more delicate than I expected. Still cute Overall, it wasn't a bad experience but it was not one that made me feel like I would go back. I don't blame the artist at all and I still like my tattoo. That's what matters. In my experience shops have someone who is more of a receptionist to go over details and information before and after, but they didn't have this. There were only artists in there and they were with clients. I will update this review with a picture of the healed tattoo in a couple of weeks.

The person assigned to assist me (I don't recall names/faces well) put the new segment/seemless/clicker ring in the lower lobe/1st instead of the upper/2nd lobe spot. I don't now how they missed the 2nd lobe because I had a light blue plastic place holder in the 2nd lobe so it wouldn't close up, we talked about it to confirm which one it was, and they saw me take the blue plastic out. Yes, I should have asked for a mirror once they finished to confirm they did it correctly but I trusted they knew what they were doing. I didn't notice, my friend pointed it out a bit after I left the shop, my friend moved it into the correct spot for me. Customer service was normal when I first went in but I didn't feel like driving back, finding parking, and blah blah blah over this. Think this was the breakdown, they didn't provide a receipt and I paid cash. Cost was $30 for the sterilized segment ring, $5 for the service, and I gave a $5 tip.

I've been wanting a tattoo for like 5 years and finally decided to go through with it. After reading some online reviews, I decided to visit this place. I brought my girlfriend with me for moral support. After picking out the the art piece, the "artist" had me sit in a chair without introducing himself to me or my to my girlfriend and immediately began. I was very nervous and would have appreciated if he talked to us a little! My girlfriend and I felt super awkward about the lack of hospitality but it was too late to turn back!! The entire process seemed rushed and not fun at all! The tattoo turned out decent but I wish I would had done a little more research and visited more shops before making a rash decision. Hopefully this will help the next person considering getting a tattoo from this place! Really creepy and unpleasant experience! read more

Jonathan is an amazing artist. I went to see him for a sugar skull, and he custom drew a skull just for me. Unique with a beautiful background. He fit it perfectly on my body. It's one of the most badass tattoos I have. His outline is perfect - healed perfectly. And he's so lighthanded and fast with the shading. We have one more session. I knew from the second I saw his work on her body, Shane was the one person who I wanted to do my first tattoo. This is something I have wanted for over 10 years, just waiting to find the right person to trust putting artwork on my body. Yesterday was my glorious day when i finally was able to meet Shane in person and talk about what I wanted and the ideas I was having about what kind of tattoo I wanted (which he patiently listened through ALL of my many ideas!!). :) His patience and attentiveness to everything I was telling him was remarkable and priceless to my comfort and trust in selecting him to meet my needs. In addition, I had also met with Pete who also works here previously on another visit to their shop in Venice. I want to just mention and commend Pete for being very genuine and straightforward with me when I had visited at that time, since I was not completely sure about the tattoo I wanted to get. Pete never pressured me or tried to sway me in any way whatsoever--again, very professional and much appreciated by me. Back to Shane and my experience with him as my 1st tattoo artist.... ....I am so thrilled and so satisfied about the beautiful outcome of his work, that I really can not put into words how wonderful my experience was yesterday! I had warned him how scared of needles I am, probably the biggest baby when it comes to seeing or even talking about anything involving a needle (yuck!!!). Shane's work was SO gentle that I honestly almost fell asleep as he was doing the tattoo!! (No joke here!!) The tattoo I got was on the back of my neck, so I was sitting in a chair with my head tilted forward (actually resting on my sweatshirt (since I am such a baby I thought I would need to cover my eyes). But I was so amazed that there was NO PAIN, and even more surprised that I was so comfortable and felt so at ease, that I was actually worried about falling asleep and having my head tip to the side or something while he was working on my tattoo. In summary, I want to express my gratitude to Shane and his staff for the way they made me feel and the quality of their work. I will be forever grateful, and after it was all over, I went outside and screamed "I got my first tattoo!!!" (which embarrassed my friend who had come by the shop to support me as I was getting my first tattoo). I fully recommend Shane as a tattoo artist, as well as Pete, too. (Note: I have not had any work done by Pete, but I did see the beautiful tattoo he did on some lady who was there when I came by the shop on my first visit, and she was equally loving of her first tattoo that Pete had just done on her on her back.) 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Gman is a scammer and hands down has the worst service with false…read moreadvertising. He used a cordless machine with little to no pressure being applied. When I asked about it, he said it was a 'new machine" and "better" results DO NOT GO HERE! I went in to get 3 tattoos, 2 of which were on my finger. A week after the initial tattoo, I started to notice the ink flaking off to reveal no tattoo. When I went back to get a touch up on day 11 of healing, he refused to do a touch up unless I paid $100. Mind you, the 3 tattoos were $120. When I showed him my unfinished tattoo/faded he said "I mean I think it looks good.. its there" He them dropped it down to $40 saying I have to pay for the equipment to be set up or else I couldn't get anything done. I inquired and asked why not considering the business card advertises "1 free touch up". He continued to refuse and said the card was made 5 years ago and its not his fault. When we contacted the owner Shane, he was 100% No help. Said it was up to the artist discretion. When we mentioned their business card and the free touch up, he continued to say that it was up to Gman since he was not in at the moment. I ultimately ended up paying the $40 bc the tattoo looked so bad. Gman continued to say it wasnt his fault, it looks good, not his fault my skin cant take ink, and even went on to say that finger tattoos are known to fade.... after 11 days... I have 3 other finger tattoos and have never had this issue. A tattoo should never be this painless. he simply applies 0 pressure to make the ink stick, forcing people to come pay for a 2nd round. The photos and video tell you all you need to know. This is 2 weeks after the 2nd touch up and its faded on my thumb and non existent on my middle finger. After looking into reviews while there, I noticed that Shane comes recommended but this seems to be an ongoing experience and done to a lot of women. Be very weary and go somewhere else. Ink monkey on Venice would never and they have great customer service. I will not be coming back.

Endry was so kind and welcoming and made my first tattoo the best experience it could've been (also want to note I have a needle phobia so this is a legit compliment). I have since seen Endry multiple times for more extensive work. Endry is truly an incredible artist who really puts care and consideration into each piece. You can tell he really cares about his craft and I have so much respect for that. Working with him has been a pleasure and I look forward to my next session with him. After a few weeks or so, Abi reached out and asked if I was still interested and I immediately jumped on the opportunity to let her tattoo me, which was an amazing decision on my part. I was impressed by how she remembered me and still wanted to do the tattoo we talked about in small detail. Abi and every member of the crew that I met had a stellar attitude and were beyond professional. While I was there I sprung two more small tattoos on Abi at short notice and she took them on with no problem and for a fair price! My friend and I enjoyed awesome conversation and traded interesting stories during the entire process. On a side note, you MUST hear some of the amazing stories they can share. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming with really good music playing the entire 5-6 hours I was there! Abi was one of the most gentle artists I have ever experienced with some times me not even being sure if she was tattooing or not. I have epilepsy which causes me to sometimes twitch, but that was no problem for her! I am so thrilled with the tattoos I received from her and I plan to visit all the way from Michigan again for even more tattoos! All of my art was very reasonably priced especially considering how beautifully it turned out! I can't recommend this place enough! Abi is my new favorite tattoo artist!

You can do metered parking up front or find free residential parking. Just make sure to read the signs! I got my ears pierced here, and I brought a few friends and family here as well. Chontel is amazing and so incredibly helpful. You can follow her and ask her questions about aftercare. Make sure to get your piercings downsized if they recommend it! It's $10 for the post and $5 for the piercing disc. Whenever Chontel isn't there, Lara is there, and she is also just as amazing and insightful as Chontel! Usually, the piercers are there from opening time until 8 pm, but you can always ask or text them to see if they are in for that day!
