A very nice and welcome addition to the neighborhood. Catering to the traders across the street, it's an upscale vibe inside with the business networks always shown on at least a few of the TVs. The bar area is roomy and they get bonus points for keeping blue cheese-stuffed olives on hand for their martinis. We've only sampled a small portion of the menu (which skews pricey) and we really enjoyed the mussels & frites and the lobster roll. They just opened in November but it looks like they're ready for spring and summer with a nice outdoor seating area. All in all, it's definitely worth a try. We'll be back! read more

I had the patty melt and it was excellent. The cheese was melty and savory and the proportions of meat, cheese and bread were perfect. My lunch partner had the wagyu beef dip and was finished before I could order my second Coke - she said it was delicious. We are taking some more of our co-workers back for lunch today. Went here for breakfast a couple of weeks ago and Taureaux is a fantastic addition to the loop. I had the French Toast and the Avocado Toast - both were really, really good. The Avocado toast has a nice citrus flavor, though it's a little heavy got messy towards the end. French Toast was perfect. I'll be back! read more

My first time here was a totally delectable dining experience! We chose to eat lunch out on the patio due to the beautiful weather. Our server was extremely gracious and efficient. Chicago is such a big city with so many venues to choose from. Which is why trying to plan a party is so difficult to do. Luckily we came across Taureaux Tavern who made this process so much easier. We knew we had to go with Taureaux after our first meeting with them. They were reliable, helpful, accommodating, and kind. They worked hard to make sure we stayed within our budget and listened to what we wanted. The entire team was remarkable! They made us feel so special. The food and drinks are incredible!!!! My friend almost ate an entire tray of baked goat cheese. Their drinks are so well crafted, there's one for everyone to choose from. They were even amazing enough to create drinks tailored to our event. The space itself is beautiful. They rearranged the furniture in the venue to fit our needs. A lot of our guests really enjoyed the second floor that over looked the first, and we can't forget about their beautiful heated patio! I was shocked at how they transformed Taureaux to fit our event. It was absolutely perfect. We can't say enough how thankful we are for the incredible team at Taureaux. They sat with us for hours and made sure all of our questions were answered, they listened to any concerns we had and offered solutions. We made the best decision hosting our event there. We were there for a private wedding and it was a perfect venue. My niece made an excellent choice for the wedding in the garden room, then open bar with appetizers, the meal was served and dancing. This is a great option for a business lunch in the loop. Went here with colleagues and the space was beautiful and our server was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great suggestions. I had a lovely starter salad ( not on the menu, but they accommodate you). Then I had the salmon which was incredibly well seasoned and cooked to perfection. My colleague had an entree salad which was huge and she loved it and she started with the French onion soup which I'm pretty sure she wanted to bathe in. What a fab addition to this part of the loop. Will definitely be going there again. Granted it is on the pricier side, but the portion size is huge as compared to your usual french restaurant. French Onion soup: to die for. Gooey cheesiness at its best and onions melt in your mouth Baked goat cheese: really good, more bread would help. Lobster roll: lobster cooked to perfection, bun was surprisingly crispy. Hanger steak: total hit, perfect char and seasoning. The steak got better with every bite. Comes with a mountain of fries. Really appreciated that the sauce came on the side rather than poured on the steak. Service was very friendly and food came in a timely fashion. Got there today for breakfast just as the breakfast hours ended. We left to look for another restaurant but someone from the restaurant came to find us outside and welcomed us back to the restaurant for breakfast. "We'd be glad to cook some breakfast for you." We went back and enjoyed a delicious breakfast and excellent service. Highly recommend! read more

I don't know what they think they are doing. I know - cut them some slack for opening and being new....I will say, they are friendly - maybe trying too hard. I gave it a shot because hey, they are new in the neighborhood to my place of work. It's supposedly French? Anyway, what peaked my interest was the cinnamon bun on the breakfast menu. First two days - they were out, or some mishap in the kitchen. Which leads me to believe these are house-made. NOPE. Finally got to try this today - worst cinnamon bun ever. So, yes 1 star review. You may think this harsh, but as a experienced cook and baker, if this were my restaurant, I would be embarrassed to serve this. Un-special - probably from a box - not very cinnamon-y at all - uninspired glaze over top - average sweet dough. I would have expected something like a brioche dough, being French and all. I wanted to like this restaurant but was pretty disappointed. I made a reservation for a birthday lunch. We didn't get seated until 20 minutes after my reservation. We ordered the lobster roll and Cobb salad. The roll was extremely small for $24 bit filled the plate with fries to cover up the size of the sandwich. The Cobb salad would have been good except they used Iceberg lettuce. Really? A $16 salad uses Iceberg? Also I mentioned the birthday when we checked in and there was no acknowledgement of it. So excited about this new place in The Loop! Taureaux hits all the right notes for me. I've been for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and all are equally fantastic. Their Avocado Toast for breakfast and Tomato Goat Cheese Appetizer for lunch/dinner are my go-to's. I especially love that they allow dogs in their pergola (which is gorgeous BTW), and are now open on Saturdays. Get the burger and fries. The burger is is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, done medium-rare. If really hungry add the French onion soup, 7 different types of onions. Very deep rich broth and flavor. Extra large chunks of toasted bread covered in broiled crispy cheese. Had this meal 3 times. Great service, quick food service. The Old Fashioned was one of the best, and I have had many Old Fashions, not too sweet, good finish, large ice cube, the drink lasts for sipping. I kept hearing about this place through friends. I decide to go last night for dinner. The decore restaurant is stunning, reminding me of old Chicago banking. I started with the Foie Gras Pate w/ candied Cocoa Nibs. Smooth elgent with a little crunch. Delish! For my entree is had the Skuna Bay Salmon w/ the skin still on! It is served over a bed of lentis mirepoix. That is by far the best salmon I have ever had! Bravo to the Chef! I am definitely going back to try other dishes. read more
