Really had a great, safe experience here with my partner over the weekend. We sat out on the turf outside and enjoyed listening to the music playing throughout the area. Our server went out of her way to move the heater over by us so we were nice and toasty out on the turf. She also made sure to be quick when placing drinks and dishes down, so as to minimize close contact. When her masked slipped down once, she quickly yanked it up. In terms of the food and drink, French Onion Soup I had one of the seasonal cocktails. I forget what it was called, but it was delicious and had just the right amount of booze for me, but some may think it isn't strong enough. My partner and I shared the mussels as an appetizer and I had the Buffalo chicken pizza and the French onion soup. The soup and the mussels were so delicious, but the pizza wasn't crispy enough for my liking. Overall, we had an incredible experience and will definitely return. read more

Came here with a friend for dinner the other night. The ambience is nice but the place is so loud I could barely hear my friend talking. We both had the tavern 5 salad with salmon. Been here twice once inside before COVID and than again on the patio, both times the food was great. We've had take out a hand full of times also and the food was great. The service is always great, the time we went to the patio it had just rained and the staff was soaked and some of them even took out the leaf blowers to get people back out there to eat by blowing chairs and tables off. This is the place to go for delicious drinks and food. I had seen a post of pasta topped with burrata on Instagram. Even though it was not a special, my server Cherry and the chef made sure to make it for me. Cherry was amazing, attentive, and we shared laughs together. Very busy on weekends. Expect to wait 30-45min. There is a dedicated parking spot so no worries. The staff is pleasant and prompt. The waitress we had came off a bit pushy. I assume she was trying to raise our bill to get more tip.. I'm not too fond of that kind of behavior. I don't like when they keep trying to "sell" us drinks and appetizers. If I wanted it, I would've ordered it. Food was hit or miss here. Tacos were amazing but the meatloaf was 1/5. Reminded me of airplane food. read more

Recently stopped in on a Tuesday night. Interior and exterior are very stylish. Love the four different seating options: outside in back, and inside at the bar (really like the layout), front area, and in back (if you want a more quiet setting). Hostess was very friendly, suggested a table in back (better for us - couple in their 50's, coming in for a late dinner), and checked in to make sure our drink order was taken. Great food and drink menu - not huge, but offered a nice area of unique options. Food was served quickly, delicious, and reasonably portioned. Food "style" is what I'd call "classic American". One of my all time favorite restaurants in Jersey, in terms of the overall ambiance is comfy rustic industrial and mid century theme design. Very homey feel. Excellent service and quality of American-Italian cuisine. Plenty of ample parking. Outdoor seating as well that is private and casual with a good number of seats and tables. Go here! What a pleasant surprise! Came here with a group of 11 and enjoyed the spinach artichoke egg rolls, the nachos, the penne vodka and the apple cocktails! I had the vegetarian tacos which were pretty good they just needed some salsa and sour cream. The calamari was just ok too. The kids Mac and chEese was also excellent and it looked like short ribs, steak and burgers were tasty. We had a ladies night here on a Thursday in the summer. It was packed and loud. We had appetizers and drinks. The outdoor space is nice and gives it a backyard feel. Definitely a nice place to come and unwind. Parking is limited but thankfully there is plenty of street parking in this residential neighborhood. It's definitely inspiring to find another go to food option in Pomton Plains after years of working in the culinary desert of the surrounding suburban communities, replete with tired, has-been menus and decors. Between the Little Food Inn, (for a more economical, homestyle BYOB place), and Tavern 5, this area is going to become a destination and a magnet for more good eateries I hope! I've been to Tavern 5 three times since it opened a few months ago and the menu is solid from appetizers to dessert. The prices are consistent with the high-quality food and the cocktail menu has some fun blends! Had lunch here recently with a friend. What a great place! I loved the vibe and atmosphere, they even had some very insta worth picture areas. My friend and I ordered some drinks, I had the pineapple honey margarita and she had a berry lemonade, both very good. We both ordered a spring salad with salmon and it had fried feta cheese. Also very good , perfect amount of dressing and the salmon was very tasty. Looking forward to returning soon! read more

As always, it's honest or not at all. Bars in my eyes don't always excite me to write a review. Most bars are all about the same. Same food. Same quality. Nothing special. But Tavern 5 has impressed me as far as bars go. They have been consistently good. I've enjoyed everything I've had there so far. I've been here about three times so far. Once I had orecchiette, sausage, and broccoli rabe. Then I had short ribs, mashed potatoes, and grilled veggies. Last night I had a simple burger. All were nicely done, cooked perfect, and seasoned well. The surprise last night was the desserts! My daughter had the skillet cookie. My son had the waffle sundae and my wife and I had the butter cake. All were perfectly executed! The servers have always been great and attentive. Ambiance is comfortable and pleasant. The place is always busy too. A sign that you won't be disappointed. Well done Tavern 5! read more

I want to preface by saying that I've been here previously and enjoyed my experience. This time, however, Tavern 5 has lost my business. We had a 7:15 reservation and spoke to a hostess. She said she was going to find our table, then sat a two top ahead of us and disappeared for fifteen minutes. Another hostess proceeded to seat two tables with 7:30 reservations before us as she seemed to be friends with the patrons. By 7:40 we had still not been sat or apologized to, and requested to speak to a manager (who at this point had decidedly no involvement in this issue). The "manager" (who we found out to be the owner) offered little in the way of consolation. Around 7:45 another hostess finally apologized, telling us that we would "probably" be sat next. We were sat about 40 minutes after our reservation, and again, requested to speak to a manager as we were still yet to be offered any sincere apology or compensation. We waited an additional ten minutes to be seen by a waitress, ordered beers that were not labeled as "out of stock," and were subsequently rushed by our waitress due to the table time limit (despite our initial wait). The lack of accountability or or activity by the owner of the restaurant and the front end staff is appalling. In a time where small businesses are struggling I can only imagine it being in the best interest of these establishments to provide excellent customer service. This was the furthest thing from that. Will certainly not be returning and would recommend others to do the same. read more

My wife and I went to T5 for NYE dinner and drinks. Overall the food, drinks and service were very good. We were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't crowded and went for pre-dinner cocktails. We were able to get seats at the bar and watched some college football while we sipped our martinis. The bartenders were ready to serve us plus we also had appetizers at the bar. The calamari was fresh and delicious. We reserved a bottle of wine to have during dinner that our waiter brought to our table when we ordered our dinner. Great service from our waiter! The food was very good. My wife had a small lobster tail and I had a ribeye steak. The food was prepared perfectly. I highly recommend T5 especially if you can get parking. read more

This is a really cool restaurant. They have a great small menu, and great craft beer selection. I had the Jack Daniels BBQ burger. To drink, a 3 blonde mice beer. It was great. Dessert, chocolate chip cookie in a cast iron skillet with vanilla ice cream.....to die for. The only complaint is it is very loud, hard to have a conversation with others at the table. Decided to make reservations while in town for a tournament after reading the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately Im not sure what all the hypes about. The restaurant was crowded and loud which I didn't personally have an issue with but some may. Waitress was nice. I did hear her tell the table next to us "everything is good" when asking for her recommendations. In my opinion this was not true. I had the cream of broccoli soup which I didn't eat because it wasn't flavorful and penne alla vodka with chicken which was ok. My husband had the filet and shrimp and thought it was good. Now the ice cream (I believe from Curley's) on the other hand was very good and I couldn't stop eating it. I wouldn't come back. read more

Last night my wife and I had no plans so decided to give Tavern 5 a try. Neither of us had high hopes. We predicted it would be another attempted "gastropub" that is just ok. We were both wrong. I had the arugula salad with fried goat cheese- very solid. Nicely dressed. Greens were fresh. Goat cheese nicely crisped and tasty. My entree was penne bolognese. Again, very good! Sauce had the right mix of meats and was seasoned nicely. The biggest surprise was the Goffle farms chicken my wife had, with crispy skin and a mashed potato with some braised dark meat mixed in- served in its jus. It was excellent! I'll order it next time, and I am one who RARELY orders chicken. This place has a kitchen that knows food. We will be back soon. read more

I started going to this place about 4 years ago and have never had a bad experience! the Ambiance during the summer is awesome, the outside deck with the fire place & the green with the string lights are the best, especially on cool summer nights it's the perfect place! the inside of the restaurant has a nice warm, homey rustic feel too it! The Buffalo Wings, Spinach Dip, Any of their burgers & chicken sandwiches are amazing!! And you certainly cannot go wrong with any of the desserts there, the waffle sundae, the skillet cookie & the lava cake are outstanding! and topped off with their salted caramel pretzel ice cream!! I went for lunch with a friend the other day and was surprised how busy they were on a Tuesday afternoon, but soon learned why.
