Menu is very limited, food is as good as McDonald's, if you like that. Many mistakes on orders from the kitchen and servers. For example; make sure if you order the "side" Caesar salad you emphasize "SIDE" or instead of $7 you pay $17.00. and if the roast beef, cheese and roasted peppers wrap actually has roasted peppers. But that's not the important issue....it's the female manager/owner with the glasses. Don't complain about anything because she is a psycho. Rude and totally unprofessional. First time at Tavern 5 and not impressed. I had the Chicken Milanese which I've heard others say it's delicious. I don't think so. It's a breaded and fried chicken cutlet and since I don't eat breaded and fried I wasn't happy. I assumed it was grilled and the menu didn't specify. it was topped with a handful of arugala salad that supposedly had a balsamic dressing on it but I didn't taste any. Not worth $24. There were no sides with it, everything was extra and no bread served. in addition, we brought a birthday cake and we were charged $10 for them to cut the cake and serve it. Came in Saturday afternoon around 4pm and took a seat at one of the bar tables only to be ignored by not 1 but 2 waitresses/bartenders with not even the slightest acknowledgement. The queue to leave was when another couple came in and took a table nearby and were immediately greeted and provided menus by the same waitress who decided for whatever reason that we did not deserve service. Generous pours of wine and whiskey are good to have to wait in line to grab a seat to eat. My first time there won't be my last. We shared two appetizers; Garlic Shrimp and Honey Soy Wings. Shrimp were tasty and plump, but wings could have used a little more honey and spice (some ginger would be nice). Sat at the bar on a Friday night with a friend and was deeply disappointed with service and meal. We were ignored by the bar staff most of the night and had to request service to place our order and receive our check. My friend visiting from out of town ordered the shrimp tacos and bit into a large piece of blue glass in her taco. She immediately brought it to the bartenders attention. A manager came over to apologize and asked if she wanted something else. She said I'm not sure please give me a moment and not one person followed up instead a new shrimp taco was delivered. Some of the shrimp were not fully cooked and she was not comfortable eating after finding a large piece of glass in her last dish. Never did anyone come back and ask her how her "new" dish was or check on us. Customer service and quality control were lacking on a not so busy night. This was my last visit to Tavern 5. Every time I go I am disappointed by the experience. My friend could have been severely injured by the glass in her dish and the management and team did nothing to earn our business. Frankly, removing the entree from the bill is not adequate compensation and the customer engagement with the bar staff with patrons eating at the bar was poor. We hope this review helps the management team improve the experience for others and makes dining at Tavern 5 a safer experience. read more

Really good restaurant with outdoor seating! They also have corn hole which is great for kids. The bread and butter mixture was unique. I got the salmon with rice and broccoli robe. It was flavorful but not that big of a piece of fish. The short ribs were very tasty with vegetables and mashed potatoes. For dessert we got the deep dish cookie for two, but more like for one. Food was much better when they opened. Drinks are good, but very small. Really small. Portions are smaller, prices are higher. Happy hour was great, but they don't do it anymore. Acoustics are bad. I'm giving it a five star because I really like the vibe here. Backyard is awesome as long as the weather is not too hot or humid. You have no idea there is a parking lot next to you. Nothing to complain about. Seriously. We went for lunch a few weeks ago and I've been meaning to post a review since. First off, Allie, our server, was top-notch. Very attentive, never let a glass empty without asking if we wanted a re-fill, and just too happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks Allie, the management should be very pleased to have you working for them. We ordered Sandwiches and French onion soup. You know when you order a grilled sandwich and it's soggy from the start? I'm not sure how they do it, but all four of our sandwiches were crunchy from the first bite to the last! So good, and paired with hot, crunchy fries, we were so happy we chose Tavern 5. By the way, the French onion soup was not salty at all, which is just the way I like it. In general I don't order it, as it's usually a salt lick covered in cheese, but this was perfectly seasoned and just the right portion. The experience we had had us wondering how anyone could dislike this place? We've recommended it to several people and two friends that went last week raved about the service, atmosphere and food. It's just a block or so from Marco's Emporium, which is a place you should visit at least once in your lifetime. First almost everything about this place is fantastic. The food is great, I love the Moscow mule menu. There's great drink options. The outdoor seating is incredible. I'm not sure if they currently reopened or just went through a mass personnel overhaul but when my girl friend and I went no one had any idea what was going on. There were three girls at the hostess table looking at me like a had 3 heads when I asked for a table for 2. Finally a manager came over and helped. Wife and I went looking for a new place to eat tonight. Choices were Tavern 5 or a different restaurant in Lincoln Park. We ended up choosing here and we were definitely not upset at our choice!! We arrived at around 5:40p and were seated right away. They have this nice outdoor area with umbrella covered tables and even an area for cornhole. The waitress, named Denise, was awesome the whole night. She made good conversation and cracked jokes while making sure we were happy with our meals. We started off with the garlic Parmesan chicken wings. Yum. For our main course we got the Tavern 5 burger and the Goffle farm chicken and both were amazing. We topped it off with a warm chocolate chip cookie skillet with salted caramel pretzel ice cream. We could've died right there and been content. 10/10 would definitely come back again. read more

We put in dinner order after we had an appetizer at 7:15 and about half hour later the waitress came back to "confirm" our dinner order so obv she never put it in! at about 9pm we called her over to cancel the order. A few min later they came out carrying two of the 3 dinners and we told them to take it back. The manager then came over to ask what was wrong and if we wanted it to go! Went here with family who live in the area and my brother in law chose the place for a birthday lunch. He made the reservation that morning for noon for 11 people and we were able to get a table but they told us to be prompt as they had another reservation behind ours so we got there early. Often when we are a big party many places have a hard time seating us but here the tables and chairs were very comfortable and we weren't overcrowded which we appreciated. We all enjoyed some of the fall drink specials which were very good as well as some of their IPA's. They have a nice menu with something for everyone. I had the shrimp appetizer which was very good. It came with a few pieces of crostini for dipping as there was a bit of garlic au jus left over but I didn't eat it as I was saving room for my main course. I had the truffle mushroom swiss burger with fries and the whole meal was perfect. The burger was cooked to perfection and the combination of the toasted and lightly buttered bun with the mushrooms, the swiss cheese and the burger was really delicious. The fries were hot, crispy and fresh - I ate every bite of my meal. Everyone at the table all ordered something different and everyone loved their food. I would definitely be back again. read more

Bad diner food, terrible service. I really wanted to like this place. It was our first time there, promising inside, looked like it might be nice -- but wow, every single one of our dishes and drinks were unappetizing and terrible. We stuck to the normal fare just to see how they would do pizza, burgers, and pasta. We were horrified to see the prosciutto on the pizza looked to be fried bacon bits, and why was it disgustingly sweet? The burger had a small patty, flavorless and very overcooked. Parmesan truffle fries were lukewarm and did not taste of truffle or Parmesan. The orecchiette that we asked for al dente came quite mushy and actually had small triangle slices of sausage, like someone took a breakfast sausage and cut it up. The cocktails were watered down, served in unappealing, dive bar glasses, which would be fine if it wasn't billed as a more upscale place. You will be sorry if you order the sangria, which had the color and flavor of the worst fruit punch. And the service was so, so bad. The waitress apparently knew the large table next to us and spent more time chatting and sitting at their table than doing simple things, like bringing ketchup for fries. We had to flag her down each time. We usually never send dishes back and would actually order more dishes to offset a bad dinner, and after 3 bad dishes, we asked if it was possible to have any of the pasta dishes al dente. The waitress looked upset and was defensive, said she put the order in correctly but the pasta is cooked in advance and heated up, so there isn't any way to make it al dente.
