Extremely disappointed in my experience at Tavern and Table on Shem Creek. Our group ordered food from the bar and half of our party never received their food after waiting for almost an hour. When speaking to the manager "Jeff" about the issue he became irate at which point he told my girlfriend to "go f*** herself". This type of behavior is unacceptable, especially from a restaurant manager. Never in my life have I experienced such disrespect from an employee. I will never return. read more

I expected a seafood restaurant, but the menu was extremely limited and the food only so so. We sat outside. It was very loud. The main issue is we asked to sit on the patio and they made little to no effort to ensure that customers were shaded and comfortable on the patio. We were literally forced to leave due to the heat and sun and forced to walk to another restaurant for more drinks and dessert. The table next to us were visibly sweating like pigs. My dates phone overheated and shut down. YES I KNOW ITS JULY IN SC, but we were here from Texas, where we know heat. The restaurant can't control the sun, but they can control the environment and they made no effort in my opinion. So we spent $125 for mediocre food and were literally forced out to another cooler patio elsewhere. read more

This place is great. I love the outside bar. We have been here several times and it has become one of our go to places. We especially love Neal our bartender he is awesome and one of the reasons beside the great food we frequent this place. Actually all the bar staff rock here. We have had most everything on the menu and it is all good. This place is the best place on Shem Creek hands down! They have a diverse menu from dumplings to pretzel bites to burgers all are good! What a beautifully decorated and wonderful location for a southern tapa-ish place. We arrived a tried a variety of their signature cocktails. They were made quickly and very delicious, an extensive list of different drinks. We all then tried several types of the small plates and snacks. I ordered the BBQ flatbread. It came out quickly and was crispy and flavorful. The crust was thin and the the pulled pork had just enough sauce not to overwhelm the equation. We also ordered the pimento cheese and ritz crackers. A Charleston staple - this cheese had bacon on top and was amazing. My friend may have licked the spoon in order to make sure she didn't miss any of the cheese. We saw some Dolphins out of the window onto Shem creek. If the weather isn't too hot- go outside! It won't disappoint. read more

Exceptional setting and very creative food. The outdoor space includes a bar and lounge area plus table dining. We ordered pretzels with fondue, charred edamame, boiled shrimp, mushroom bisque, fig flatbread... This was a great collection for the table to share. The food was wonderful! Soooooo delicious.....I don't care for Charleston, but I would go there just to eat at this place. Had the burnt end and macaroni for an appetizer and it was sooo delicious! Drinks were awesome. I've been here for brunch, lunch, dinner or just for drinks during many time before deciding to write this review and give then a 4 stars. The me the food quality were very inconsistent. I had amazing dinner one night and the was so just so meh. Same for brunch. Some of the consistent things are that I'm always amazed by the decor, ambience, and the atmosphere. We went to Tavern and Table last night for dinner and everything was amazing!!! Our server John was attentive and on point with his service. We never wanted for anything and he had a great attitude. And the food was excellent!!! Just wanted to drop an extra note about Kyle, who I believe is a manager. So often you see them (managers) just having the ubiquitous talk about how everything is blah blah, but he actually offered genuine conversation with us, and did so with most every guest we saw him encounter. Loved the decor & atmosphere. Gorgeous views of the water. My husband's old fashioned was a little watered down but my margarita & everything else was perfect! We had the fried devjl eggs & dynamite shrimp for appetizers. Both were delicious! My daughters had the Italian flat bread & clam chowder & were both very happy. Food was superb.. The service was excellent when it was given.. Out waiter seemed to disappear a few times. We tried several things and it was all awesome.. One word of note: if you order an old fashioned, they give you a TNT old fashioned which is made with whiskey and some peach muddled in.. Took all our orders and got us our food quick! I ordered the stroganoff with short rib meat. However, I was very disappointed with this meal costing $28. The meat was cooked well and tasted good but the stroganoff was very soupy and not much flavor. The portion could have been bigger as well for the price. Tasted few other people's plates to get full picture. Edamame has a very weird spice on it that makes it not appealing to me. Corn bread seems to be popular choice and very good as well. This place deserves at least 4 stars everytime. Anything less must have been an unfortunate fluke. Went for dinner with a large group of people. Beautifully decorated and full of personality. The location is to die for! It's right on the water and has a great outdoor seating area. This is a great place for a meal and drinks, but is also great because once you're done with your meal and you'd like to try something different, you can just walk next door to a more "party" bar. The food was rather eclectic: you could have macaroni and cheese, but also have scallops or clams. There wasn't really a theme for the food. Food was great. Austin, our waiter, was great. The entire staff and service was great: I left a hat there that had a lot of sentimental value. When I called up to ask about the hat, the person who answered the phone went looking for the hat and found it in a bag of lost-and-left clothing that was headed to Goodwill. She gave the hat to the person at Tavern and Table who handles such things. The next day that person called to tell me the hat had been shipped and gave me a tracking number. When I asked how much I owed Tavern and Table for mailing the hat back to me, she said "nothing." I owe them all a big thank you for their "above and beyond" service. read more

Had dinner on 4/5/21 with our family. Understand this is prime Easter Break timing. Had a reservation for six of us and were seated relatively close to that time frame. Our waiter was slow with taking orders and delivering drinks throughout the evening. Ordered the seafood tower which was very good, but took over 30 minutes to come to our table. We had a disappointment with the menu, obviously it has been minimized due to Covid, but not much appealed to my wife. She ended up ordering the special which was a 24oz Pork Chop. Sounded great! Unfortunately what was delivered was four pieces of tough pork. Probably a pork country style rib or a cut from a Boston Butt. Let our waiter know at the end I was disappointed. He let me know he checked with the chef and it was a pork chop. I have been in the grocery business for over 35 years, I know what a pork chop is, not what we were served. The "owner" came out to again tell me it was a pork chop. Wish this had not happened. This was a go to place for us. Never asked, nor wanted a refund. Stopped by here twice in the last week. Next door to Red's Ice House (same owners). Love the location on Shem Creek. We sat and watched the boats. Both times we were there, Dolphins were swimming under the kayakers and paddle borders. The food is delicious. It is a bit on the "foodie side" for me, but you will love it if you are into that type of food. One piece of feedback for the ownership ... Kill the thick railing outside - it blocks the water view unless you stand up. Heard numerous people echo our same thoughts. We will be back! read more

Beautiful view, great service and incredible food! My family and I dined here for the first time this evening. We made reservations for inside but when we arrived there was just a short wait to get a "first come first serve" table outside with a beautiful view of the sunset on Shem Creek, and boy was it GORGEOUS! Between the four of us we got the skillet cornbread appetizer and the salmon dip appetizer. Both were amazing! Then it was the smoked beef chili, beef brisket Mac and cheese, sausage flat bread, and the French dip burger. All four entrees were DELICIOUS! My parents took me here thinking it was a seafood restaurant. It is on Shem Creek and they saw that the parking lot was really full and they were intrigued. We were all pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, the service was spot on, the decor was beautiful. The prices were pretty good considering how swank the place is and they give you decent portions. We had the Korean chicken wings -enormous with the upper and lower joints attached. They were delicious but they are just so big that you can't help but get sauce on your face. I would recommend that they cut them up more. Especially in a higher end restaurant with cloth napkins - they were embarrassing to eat. Don't get me wrong - I ate them and made a huge mess anyway! The brisket mac'n'cheese and the charcuterie platter were really good. The muffuletta sandwich was ok and kinda small for the price. Beautiful space and I wanted to love the food, but it was just ok. Don't go thinking this is all seafood and southern being on Shem Creek - it isn't. Service was good, place is a bit on the loud side - lots of large tables which is nice if you have a big group**, but the food is anything you can get up north really. Here's the verdict on what we tried - the edamame was very spicy and actually inedible, skillet cornbread was tasty and done well, brisket mac and cheese is ok - but not all that flavorful, beets four ways was probably the best thing we had and the french dip was ok. I was disappointed given the sourcing they list from local purveyors. It is a pretty place with a massive parking lot, but the food would not draw me back. ** While they do site larger groups, they are really annoying about locking in that reservation. Tried for a week to get a birthday together and kept hearing that a manager had to call me back. Two days before they would still not confirm my table. I made reservations elsewhere. read more

The food is an interesting mix of home grown favorites (sourced locally) and cutting edge culinary masterpieces. Our meal started with the Fire Roasted Oysters (spinach and ginger alioli) and Roasted Brussel Sprouts (bacon and parm. cream) - both were exceptional. For dinner, we had the Duck Confit flatbread, pan-seared Scallops, and the Steak Salad. Every dish exceeded our expectations and we were blown away with the variation of flavors. The service was also outstanding - our waiter did a great job of patiently walking us through the menu and gave us some good recommendations on both dishes and the wine pairings. Most of my ratings come from the ambiance, location and coastal atmosphere. Shem creek needed this space. I go here often for lunch with co workers since it's so close to the office. They did a great job with decor and spacing in the restaurant- it looks casual but nice at the same time. You should definitely get the Mac and cheese- it's delicious. I've tried multiple flatbreads- all solid. For a healthy option the kale and apple salad is really good, the steak salad is lacking not flavor in my opinion so it's not really my go to, neither is the chicken Chinese salad that they've added to their new menu. The Monte Carlo is a great flavorful filling Option as well. I think I've tried enough of the menu to stick with the things I like- I'll be back like clockwork I'm sure. read more
