Better than Commanders Palace and Clanseys in New Orleans. Probably the best filet I've ever had.

This was our best meal in Eureka…read more On our final day in town we decided to try this spot based on the great Yelp reviews. It was the experience we needed after a host of poor service and unwelcoming attitudes at other ES establishments. McGarity's is everything you would expect an Irish pub and restaurant to be. There is a leprechaun out front for photos, super friendly and attentive staff, and a menu chock full of feel good and filling food. We started with an appetizer of cheese curds. Get these for the table. They were cheesy goodness with light batter and were delicious. For our meals I got the burger and the kids got shepherd's pie and chicken alfredo. Both looked great and there were plenty of leftovers. Portions are huge here. My burger was cooked the way I liked and had a great beefy juiciness offset by fresh lettuce, tomato, and onions. The thing I didn't particularly like must be some sort of Arkansas or Eureka rule because everyone does it. Condiments were in little packs on the table. I would prefer that at least the mayo be added in the kitchen so I am not disassembling my burger to squeeze mayo on the buns but every restaurant was this way. Despite that, this was a great experience. All oher Eureka Restaurants can take a page from McGarity's and the place would be much happier.

We were early for the season. We had excellent service from Kristen who was very friendly, informative, and attentive. I had the chicken topped with all of topping, odd goat cheese, and balsamic drizzle. It was fabulous. Also liked the mashed potatoes. My husband enjoyed the creamy Gorgonzola pasta dish with caramelized onions and cherry tomatoes. There were several good looking desserts, but we were too full to try any. Ambience fairly simple but a row of cute lamps lining the shelf up above. There's a small restaurant area as well as a bar area. Some tables outside, but it was too cool for us to try that. Great place in Eureka Springs.

The food matches the setting. The crab cakes are better than most places--crispy on the outside, packed with flavor, and not overly heavy. The cobb salad is a standout too--loaded with a great mix of toppings (definitely check the pic), fresh, and actually filling. The meatball & grits were solid, and the wedge fries on the side hit the spot--simple but done right. This is an easy, go-to lunch spot whether you're taking a break from exploring downtown or wrapping up a day walking around. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, and a perfect place to slow things down for a bit.

Get there early! We were lucky the Saturday dinner rush was moving along gracefully. They are busy and crowded. If you have the ability to wait for some of the best Italian food Eureka Springs' offers, please wait!! They do not take call in names or have reservations lists. They are old school. It's based on server upon name list leave and wait. The bar upstairs is open, most diners choose to have a drink before their dinner. Understood to be optional. I suggest to try something new. Aways exceptional to live a little. I do recommend linguine with the house favorite meatballs. They are very welcoming at the door, and all the staff are great with peopling. They strive to have you feel welcome. Albeit the wait, it's worth the wait. Littles are welcome.. I have seen large table seatings, but this place is very limited on space. Comfortably, we sat well without bumping in our party of four.

They only open from 4-8 PM, and the wait is real--usually 1 to 1.5 hours. But it's part of the experience. There are cozy indoor and outdoor areas to hang out, grab a drink, play board games, and even strike up conversations with other people waiting. We usually do. The restaurant itself is set in a house--small, warm, and full of character. Even the little details stood out this time, like the updated photos on the walls with new black frames. We started with the roasted garlic smashed in butter with bread--easily one of the best starters they have. The stuffed mushrooms are a must too--fresh, simple, and done right. Tonight's special was lasagna, and if you see it, order it. They only make it a couple times a week. Thick layers, rich without being heavy, and just a subtle hint of cinnamon that makes it stand out. The spaghetti and meatballs is a classic here, and they execute it perfectly every time. Now the tough part... The tiramisu has always been our gold standard. We've compared every tiramisu we've had to this one--and usually order 2-3 to go. But this time, it missed. It was heavy on whipped cream and lacking that bold coffee flavor and the ladyfingers that make it what it is. We were honestly disappointed, especially since it's the dessert we rave about to everyone. That said, one off night won't keep us away. We'll definitely be back--and hoping the tiramisu returns to being the best we've had. Till then, I am updating this place to 4 stars from 5
