Not that this matters but I came in with some friends to enjoy and have a good time. Yet I did enjoy the company but the service was subpar and the menu prices are not as advertised. I asked what came on the Philly fries and was told the said items but when I get my check there was pretty much a charge for 4.00 extra dollars for onions and mushrooms. I was told it was extra for those items. So what did the philly fries come with??? So over all very highly disappointed that I was not told about the upcharge and there was no manager on site so everything was left up to a new 22 year old new bartender Emily to say pretty much nothing and just shrugged her shoulders and that was it. You have to be kidding. Almost $17 for a mediocre burger. Thinking for $17 it must be a pretty big and delicious burger and then they bring it out on a paper plate with plastic utensils. We had enjoyed their food years ago and were excited to finally get back. Ordered the family sized goetta Mac for my husband and daughter and I. The portion was large enough, but it was honestly just buttered noodles. Hardly any cheese to make it "mac and cheese" and barely a crumble of goetta to be found. The goetta waa so so little. Clean and staff was on the ball. They had us sat and drinks were in front of us in 3 minutes. Friendly and courteous. I would recommend this business. Just a PITA to get in and out of parking lot with the traffic. Keep up the good work and we have no problem tipping 50% for the great service we received. read more

Atmosphere was great very busy never been here before decided to stop by and check it out, drinks were cold so was the fish dinner i ordered the batter was still mushy inside had to send back not only has a problem with the fish but wanted to order another menu item that they had told us they were out of not a first time good experience. I hate to do this but this place is disappointing in a weekly basis. I was told they have "discretional business hours." I come with a group of 6-10 ppl weekly and we are always the last ones in the bar. The problem is every week when we are here they always approach us mid drink and tell us they are closing early. Tonight "early" was 1:00am when the business hours are listed as 2:30am. Getting off work at midnight this doesn't leave time for our group to decompress. Such a let down. "Discretional business hours" was the phrase used by a server/manager after deciding to close early, at 1am on a Friday night, instead of the official advertised closing time of 2:30am. I was a frequent patron at this bar and grill, present approximately once a week for the past 3-4 months. Unfortunately, I noticed a pattern that when certain people were working, service suffered and the bar closed early. I enjoyed meeting up with friends after work, around midnight to decompress and fellowship. It has become increasingly difficult to do this over the last few weeks because the decision would be made to close early, between 1-1:30am. I was generally accompanied by 4-8 people. We received awesome service from both Nick and Samantha throughout our time coming to Tavern on the Bend but I'm probably not going to return. read more

I've been here a couple of times. The atmosphere is really lively & the bar is central in the space which creates a central focus. The beer selection is stellar & there is always something in tap to please every beer drinking palate. The menu features Mac & cheese, chicken or beef burgers with various toppings. There is a big variety of choices. The French fries are seasoned, battered & tasty. The food is consistent & satisfying but nothing special. It's hard to put my finger on it because all the choices are there but nothing stands out. I think this place is good for a beer & an occasional burger. But not my first choice. read more

This was our 3rd visit here - the husband and I needed something close that served fries. I can't say that I've ever been wow'd by the food here. I love that the menu is simple and they keep it basic. I would enjoy just a couple more appetizer choices, however. The service, this round, was good. Tonight, we got pretzel sticks (so good with plenty of salt), the chuck norris and a Mahi sandwich with apricot goat cheese. My fish sandwich was good - not awesome but good. Our food came out and my husband tasted the fries - he put a ton of salt on both of ours. If HE thinks that they needed salt, they must have had nothing on them. My jaw dropped when I saw the salt shaker in his hand. His burger was super undercooked - like the beef was red, bleeding and not even warm. Our server was prompt with taking it back. It came back out - as it was...cut in half, soggy bottom bun (from the previous blood) and the same toppings. I found it odd that they didn't even try to make it better and freshen it up. He ate it without complaining. I really want to like it here but I just find the food to be average. If you have a limited menu, you better make it rock. read more

I went here for the Bengals game recently and was sorely disappointed. -They should not be known for their mac and cheese bc it was gross. -The iced tea tasted cheesy -THEY ONLY USE STYROFOAM AND PAPER PLATES and plastic ware. I had been to the previous business many months ago (Blondie's sports bar), and it was great to see this place had renovated and remodeled in such a way that it opened up and swankfied this otherwise regular sports bar. We moved to the west side in January and are still finding cool spots. This place is such a gem and a total surprise. It's very unassuming, nestled Between papa johns and subway but you need to check it out. Fresh, locally ground meat from Eckerlins, great ingredients and an interesting menu. We had the Hanky panky appetizer (delicious and large), two burgers, one with fries and one with side salad. The salad was large and very fresh. Their homemade peppercorn ranch was delicious as was their cheese sauce (which they use to make a variety of Mac and cheese dishes). They have a great local beer list and mostly high tops but still very comfortable seating. The staff was friendly and attentive. read more

Why is it that Taverns always have to be on something? Finally got to use my Tavern-on-the-Bend gift certificate I got back in December. I always have mixed feelings about this place. First off, they have some excellent burgers and some unique spins on mac-and-cheese (including one with Lobster). These are definitely the menu items to pick if you can't decide. There are plenty of tv's to watch if you're looking to catch sports whilst eating/drinking. The place is clean and new and the servers are normally friendly and attentive. I'm told there is some sort of shared employment deal with Crossroads, perhaps the same owners? There are, however, a few things that I have a tough time with here. This is and always will be a bar in a plaza, and you never really escape that build-out feeling when you're there. I always checkout the ACT on the ceiling. I could easily see this place closing and becoming a cell and pager store in a heartbeat. It seems like the new style around town is no style at all. Scene, Play, and now Tavern-on-the-Bend all seem to subscribe to this less-is-more (less is a bore) mentality. Additionally, the lack of proper dishes and silverware always gives off a sort of chintzy feel. Saying you have biodegradables is great, but it's actually better for the environment to reduce the amount of trash and just reuse plates and silverware. I liked this place, but it was your typical sports bar. Our server was really great, and the menu is simple. We started out with some pretzel sticks, which were just drenched in grease - which is never a bad thing at a sports bar. I got got a burger, which was average - they did not ask me how I wanted, so that was interesting to me. It seemed like a one-size-fits-all burger. There was nothing that was super unique or stood out to me at this place, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. We were early to Laurens soccer game on the west side of Cincinnati and decided to stop into this little restaurant/bar in a strip mall. From the outside I had no expectations of the food being any good, but I was very surprised. The decor is just like a typical tavern would be. Bar, booths, sports memorabilia; the usual. The menu was on the smaller side but they had a great mac and cheese selection. I love mac and cheese! I went with the goetta mac because well, I wouldn't be a Cincinnatian if I didn't try it. But the Westside mac sounded awesome too. It was so good. I would put it on par with Keystones mac and cheese. There was more than enough meat and the rich beer cheese mixed perfectly with it. The portion looks small, but the meal is so rich, you'll definitely be taking some home. The one things I was surprised with, was they dont carry wings. Lauren was disappointed, but she ended up with the pretzel sticks. They were good. Same bier cheese that was in the mac. You should check it out if you ever find yourself over in the north bend area. We love this place because it is close to our house and not a chain restaurant. They have very innovative foods with funny names! One of our favorite things to do is come here during a football game and grab some food and beers because they have an incredible beer selection. Don't let the burgers fill you up because the Mac is where it's at and trust me you'll need some room for that.
