I went last weekend with my family and not only did it take an hour for chicken tenders but the people who were supposed to be bringing our food sat there on their phones. Once the food did come out our order was partially wrong and the person whom brought us the food had a terrible attitude about it. I could see the kitchen from were I was sitting and food was all over the floor and the kitchen looked disgusting. Westside gem!!! Tavern on the Bend is really one of the only nicer bar options in the area. The atmosphere is clean and a little more upscale than a lot of the nearby dives. The food is BOMB. It's just unique in that it's not your typical bar food and it's always better than I expect. The buffalo mac and cheese is so amazing. It's creamy and spicy on the inside and crusty and crunchy on top. You have to try it. You'll fall in love. Another go-to for me is the Marilyn Monroe. This is a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon, goat cheese, lettuce and balsamic dressing. The goat cheese makes it rich and the bun soaks up all of the yummy balsamic. The combo of flavors is fantastic. You can also get the same sandwich, but in burger form. They have lots of local craft beer options, a full bar and a ton of tvs. Great spot to watch any sporting event. I went to Tavern on the Bend for the first time on a Monday night for their Mac and Cheese special - all Mac and Cheese was half off! This is what drew me to the place and I can't say I was disappointed at all. First, the inside is very nice - bar, tables, and all. Everything is clean and the furniture is very nice. You may think a tavern in a strip mall would be looking a bit worse-for-wear on the inside, but Tavern on the Bend proves to be in excellent shape. Second, the service was great. Put simply, our server was friendly and checked in regularly. We weren't there for too long - about an hour and a half for dinner and drinks. Finally, the food was delicious. We ordered Loaded Kettle Chips to share (they come with Bacon, Cheese, and Sour Cream) which were as good as you'd expect. We each got an order of Mac and Cheese - one plain and one with Goetta (if you're a true Goetta lover I definitely recommend it!) The portions were just right for a Mac and Cheese as rich and fresh as this Mac was. The one slightly surprising element of the food was that everything came in a paper plate. Looking at the interior, I would not have expected this to be the case. I'm not sure this is normal, but I really don't care because the food was delicious and I wasn't there as part of a fancy meeting or anything. This is definitely a sports bar feel. The waitstaff is nice, if a little too casual. We walked in and weren't sure if we sat ourselves or waited to be seated. After the bartender and one waitress walked by, I finally asked as a second waitress what the protocol was and she told us to sit anywhere. Now, I don't mind this approach as long as the waitstaff is actually informed that people have been seated in their section. We waited an exceptionally long time before our waitress approached, and I think it was quite simply that she had no idea we sat down. This was a Sunday night and it definitely seemed like locals only night, which can feel a little off putting to new patrons. Once our arrival had been established, however, our waitress was on top of it. I ordered the Traditional Mac with Ghost Pepper Cheese and the house salad, while my date got the Potato Soup and Mac of the Month- bacon, cheese, and ranch. The meal was delicious. The Mac and Cheese came out hot, flavorful, and amply coated with cheesy goodness. The house salad has a lovely mix of cranberries, goat cheese, and sunflower seeds in a tasty vinaigrette. Both portions were enough to share, and I had some leftovers. My date was also pleased with his meal. The menu mentions that everything comes on biodegradable tableware. It is paper plates and plastic silverware. Considering the dark pub atmosphere, I would like to see them invest in actual plates and silverware, which are even better for the environment. There are actually quite a few vegetarian items on the menu, but I have to say that the menu does need a little spruce up. Under the Veggie Burger list, they have simply copied and pasted two of their regular burgers' descriptions. This would be fine, except that in those descriptions bacon is listed as a topping. Just put on the menu that veggie burgers can be substituted on any burger, and we can sort it out from there. I'd say if the heading is "Veggie Burgers" there is a real risk of customers not seeing that there are non-vegetarian elements to those burgers or thinking that the bacon is veggie bacon. Again, the food is an A+. With a little more attention to detail, this place could become a regular on the rotation. read more

I love that there is finally a bar close enough with delicious burgers so I no longer have to drive to West Chester or Hyde Park for something decent. The 007 burger is at the top of my list and it's hard for me to want to try new menu items once I've got that burger on my brain. On Tuesdays, all burgers are $2 off the menu price so that is a good night to try one if you're skeptical, but in all honesty the prices are very reasonable. The macaroni choices they provide are also delicious and I've nearly tried all of them. You really could just order it as a meal. The only complaint I've heard is that the macaroni was cold in the center once, but it was an easy fix. The Westsider Mac is my personal favorite. On Mondays, all macs are half-off menu price. Once again, that would probably be the prime time to try one of them. The Hanky Panks appetizer is another item I've tried. If you've ever had them homemade, you'll love these just as much. They taste just like the ones my mother makes. As far as atmosphere goes, it is pretty nice for the White Oak/Colerain area. The beer selection is extensive and the set up is nice. The only complaint over reviewers have on other sites is the fact that the only glassware they use is for alcoholic drinks. This includes the plates, bowls, and silverware... all paper and plastic. I really don't mind it considering they can just give me a lid or foil to take it home. After all, it is just a bar and it's bar food so I'm not too concerned about it. Maybe once they've been there a while, they'll get dishes. The sister bar, Crossroads, is the same way, but I think people don't really notice because they serve mainly wings. This was my first time at The Tavern, and I won't be back. Although the decor and bar was very nice, that's not enough to bring me back. My husband and I were looking to have dinner and watch some football. They had football on but had horrible music playing in the bar that didn't fit the image at all. The bartender was nothing great, seemed as if she hated life and didn't want to wait on us. We ordered a app to split, bruschetta($7) It was terrible, had no flavor at all and not to mention served on a paper plate. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich ($8) and I had a small side salad ($5). All of which was served on paper plates. The food was nothing great, and for the price, a joke. If I'm dinning in a what seemed like fairly nice establishment and paying the price for above average dishes, I could only hope it's not going to be served on PAPER and eat with plastic fork and knife!! What. A. Shocker! My westside friends took me here, and I was in shock at how beautiful, clean, and amazing the food was! I have to say this place seems like it was taken from the eastside and dropped right down in the middle of hole in the walls and dry cleaners. But do not miss it because it is a beauty! To start they have some really, really amazing craft beer on tap, and in bottles. They even had some great pumpkin ones. Usually on the west side its bud, and if you don't like it sorry. This places was really ahead of the curve. We ordered to split, my boyfriend and I had the blackened chicken sandwich with a side substitute of their infamous mac 'n' cheese. They have an entire menu of mac, we opted for the "Philly cheese steak mac" which was...how do I put it? Out of this world. The mac came out and was fresh. It wasn't scooped out of a crusty vat in the back that had been sitting all day. The bowl was steaming hot with huge chunks of meat, onions, peppers, and the texture of the noodles were phenomenal. usually the noodles get sogged and drowned down by the sauce, but this held it's own. I don't usually give props to mac 'n' cheese simply because I think I make a mean mac, but this place is totally legit! And it had a thick crust over the top when it baked so when it came out you poked into it and steam just came out and you got the texture of creamy, and crunchy all at the same time just the way I like it! Ok mac rant over. We had a great time here. Our server was fun, knowledgeable and energetic. The atmosphere was beautiful. This is one of the few, places I would drive to the west side to go back to. It had been a long time since hubby and I visited Tavern on the Bend. They've expanded their dining table type seating and their menu. I still find it weird that for a place with table service and casual dining prices they offer only plastic forks and serve most of the food on those rough-surfaced cardboard plates. My full-size burger even came on a tiny plate hardly larger than the burger itself. All that said, although the prices are not cheap, the food quality is worth 4 stars. Portion sizes are enormous and good for people who like taking home leftovers. We got there at about 5 pm on a Friday and by the time we left it didn't look like more than one or two empty seats in the house. read more

I agree with others that have mixed feelings about this place. I have been here a half dozen times and never walk out loving or hating the place. Its fine. For a sports bar, this place is really nice. They completely remodeled it since it was Blondies. It has a upscale pub feel with a large bar with plenty of seating and a ton of booths and tables to sit at if you want more privacy. Service is really hit or miss. The servers are never very friendly, but at the same time they adequately do their jobs. I went to Tavern last night and sat for a good 10 minutes before a waitress came over, and the place was not very busy at 10pm on a Thursday night. Maybe if I was male... or a regular... I don't know. I just always walk away feeling like I wanted more. Food is top notch though... They have a great salad, burger, and mac and cheese selection. I love that they have a number of grilled chicken and veggie burger options for the health conscious. I have had the grape and almond salad here a number of times. I have always ordered the full-sized option in the past ($6.50ish) and was always pleased. Last night I didn't need much and so ordered the side salad sized ($4.50). I was very disappointed in the size when it arrived. Imagine a bowl the size you would put your pasta salad in at a picnic... Tiny... It was literally a plastic bowl that sized. The regular size for only $2 more is over double the size. When I mentioned to the waitress that I was unhappy with the size, her response was that they fit a lot in that size of a bowl... I really wish she would have offered a solution, like would I like to pay $2 more for the bigger size. I would have been more than willing, but she did nothing to try to make me happy... I don't think I'd have noticed Tavern on the Bend if it weren't for my brother and sister-in-law taking me in, but I'm glad they did. As I understand it, Tavern on the Bend is known for their macaroni & cheese... and they have more than a few options to select from. I got the chili mac. It is not on their menu, but apparently they routinely make it anyway. They use their house chili and it was awesome! The main area of the restaurant is around the bar with tables off to the side as well. There are televisions around the restaurant showing news and sporting events. The noise level is as expected, but it is a bit loud for my preferences. We were visiting family and they had a band playing... The band was pretty good, but it was impossible to carry on a conversation. Because of our number, we also had to sit on high chairs without backs, which was not the most pleasant experience. We typically go once per visit to Cincinnati. My brother and sister-in-law seem to really like the place... and who can say no to the macaroni & cheese. read more

I don't get the attraction. I have been here a couple of times and for a place that is supposedly known for their mac and burgers, this is a disappointment. The burgers are marginal, dare I say tasteless. I had the Chuck Norris and it left me flat. We also ordered cheese burgers that showed up with only cheese and nothing else. I was excited to try some of the various mac and cheese offerings and was pumped for hanky panks, which I haven't had since I was a kid. The hanky panks were super greasy. They were basically a scoop of ground sausage on bread with cheese melted on top. Not at all what I grew up with. The mac and cheese was terrible. My husband ordered the lobster mac, which tasted like mac and cheese with old fish in it. The sauce was thin and watery. The burgers were decent but nothing to write home about. I wish the food was the only problem. Our server acted like he wanted to be anywhere but there, when we could catch him. This is not a place I would normally order an Old Fashioned, but since it was on the drink specials menu I thought there was a good chance the bar staff would know how to make it. WRONG. So. Wrong. I was served a glass of cloudy lemon-flavored dish water. Half our table's food came out about 15 minutes later than the other half. I'm talking burgers, fries, and mac and cheese - food that should take 15 minutes to cook total. I wanted to like this place, but sadly will not be back. read more

Finally got to check this place out the other night. You wouldn't think this place by owned by the same people as Crossroads by stepping in. Much more upscale appearance, and the wait staff uses PDA devices to take orders. The beer selection is good, with around 20 beers on draft. Their draft IPA selection was Dogfish Head 60 Minute and Victory HopDevil, plus they had more in bottle, like Southern Tier 2X IPA. Menu is very simple: Burgers, Mac and Cheese, salads, and Chili. Burgers come as beef, chicken or veggie. I went for the Chuck Norris (beef), which is a burger with jalapeno bacon, pepper jack cheese, and a house spicy sauce. The burger was nice and big, and was served with a large steak knife to cut it in half, if you wish. While it was a very good burger made of quality, fresh meat, I thought the price was a bit steep ($9.25). They charge Terry's Turf Club prices for their burgers, but I think they're not quite as good. The drink prices are more reasonable, and what I would expect of this type of establishment ($5.75 for a tall Dogfish Head 60 Minute). My wife got the Philly Mac n' Cheese ($6.99) and said it was delicious. Like Terry's, they serve the food on disposable plates and silverware. While I think that somehow works for Terry's, I don't think it works here. The atmosphere and setting has more of an modern upscale appearance; which for me, says you should have proper plates and silverware. Despite my feelings on the dinnerware, The Tavern on the Bend does stand out in a Westside filled with sports bars. The limited menu is very good and the food came out in a good time considering the capacity Saturday night crowd. As far as Cincinnati burger joints go, I place it in the same tier as Flipdaddy's in Mariemont; that is, very good, but just below Terry's Turf Club. read more

I liked this place, but it was your typical sports bar. Our server was really great, and the menu is simple. We started out with some pretzel sticks, which were just drenched in grease - which is never a bad thing at a sports bar. I got got a burger, which was average - they did not ask me how I wanted, so that was interesting to me. It seemed like a one-size-fits-all burger. There was nothing that was super unique or stood out to me at this place, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. This is a great sports bar. Lots of Tvs, lots of good beer and all of the food is delicious! The Mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever had and I don't usually even like Mac and cheese. Even the French fries were great. We ordered another side of them because they were so good. My only complaint is the use of disposable plates and utensils. That seems pretty wasteful to me, but I understand that this is a sports bar and that's kind of how it goes. Long story short, would definitely recommend this place to go and watch a game at. Excellent macaroni and cheese! (I'm not a mac and cheese fan in general). I had the Goetta Mac and I would highly recommend it. It's is creamy, not too cheesy, the spiral noodle is a perfect choice, it doesn't get lost in the sauce. The price is weird because if you use it as your side for a sandwich its an extra $5+, if you get it alone its $7+ but the size is the same either way. Sandwiches are around $10 alone. The burger is just ok, definitely frozen, not the worst, but next time I'd get only Mac. Let me clarify, the Mac is worth the trip in. Happy hour pricing is nothing worth writing home about. This is a 5 star concept with a 4 star execution at present. The beer choices and food choices keep me coming back often. I've found the lobster mac and cheese and goetta mac and cheese to be my favorites at this place so far. I always get the mac & cheese so I can't recommend anything else food wise here. If you don't mind eating with plastic and on paper plates / bowls then you will like the food here. I typically sit at the bar here and get good service. I've had other friends come here and get poor service when they sit in the booths or at the tables. Not sure why, but the bar seems to get the best quality of service in my experiences here. Burgers and Mac'n'Cheese are the main dishes. Both are worth going for. I actually had a chicken sandwhich which was ok. The actual chix breast looked and tasted as if they smacked it around to flatten it. But I stole a bite of the kids burger and wow. I am headaed back to get my own. I had lobster macNcheese instead of fries. Real good. Being a techy I loved how they have embrassed technology and have the staff use smart phones to place orders and swipe your card at the table. Only issue i have is ther eis no kids menu. My kids had to have the same portions sizes as I do. I hope they figure out how to accomidate the families with young kids. read more

Came here on a whim with a friend. Doesn't look like much from the street, but go inside. The food is amazing, moderately priced. It was a great mix of crowd on a Friday night. Older, younger; business casual, yoga pants and a shirt; bros and classy women. Again, the food was amazing. I haven't had a burger that good in I don't know how long. It even tells you the name of the butcher on the menu! The prices are reasonable, especially for, again, how good it was. This place is close to home so I come here fairly often. It's around 10 dollars for a sandwich (burger, chicken or veggie) and fries. I've only had the burger options and the mac. The burgers are all good. Everything is cooked to order, but you can't choose how well done you would like it (which I would prefer). Even though they are well done, they are still very juicy and good. The mac is good as well and it's half off certain days of the week. They have a great beer selection and rotate what's on tap.
