Two stars for friendly staff. Only reviewing the corn beef hash because that's the only thing I got. Worst I ever had. Poached eggs instead of fried, sweet potatoes instead of white, pearl onions instead of sliced and grilled. Hatch peppers, which were the draw for me, did not add anything to this dish. Overall, zero texture; it was just a bunch of mush. A good hash would have at least had the brisket seared on the flat top. This looked like it came out of a soup pot. read more

I've been coming to Vail for years and whenever we come to Vail we go to Lionshead Village. I cannot recommend T2 enough the food is awesome and the customer service is phenomenal. I'm gonna drop some names right now. Sean Who is one of the managers along with Andrew have been more than accommodating. We usually sit at the bar there is Steve Maddie & Kristin who were awesome. Beautiful scenery. For an appetizer, Tuna poke was good, waffle fries were an experience with all the toppings. The buffalo burger was very fresh and not too gamey, my daughter put BBQ sauce on it which was amazing. I had kale and quinoa salad, super fresh. Not good to eat tho if are not into healthy food. Overall a very nice lunch and Kirsten was a great waitress. She did a great job explaining the food, so good that she almost made it sound better than it was! She was also very sweet and made my younger daughter an orange/pineapple virgin drink with grenadine off the menu that she liked. Mediocre at best. My suggestion would be to stick to burgers or salads. My husband really enjoyed his steak salad but I absolutely hated my meal . I ordered the seafood pad thai which the waitress informed me that it was great, but it was terrible. It should have been pan fried noodles instead it was soupy fettuccine noodles in the soup broth . It was supposed to have shrimp and calamari, but it only came with one shrimp and a lot of little calamari. It was bad . read more

We sat down at a patio able that had just been vacated but still had glasses on it and waited for 20 minutes to be attended to and were only attended to after we called out for the server. We were told that we could not order food or beverages on the patio as they were closing it down. Mind you the patio was completely full and it was 4:30. The server told us that the patio service was ending, there was a hostess at the door that was supposed to seat us and that if we wanted anything we had to go inside. There was no hostess inside and no sign when we walked in restauant. She made no apology and no offer to seat us inside and make the situation right. After waiting 25 minutes for a table (Told it would be 10-15 min, but probably less), we waited 10 minutes at our table, and finally had to ask for a server. The unenthusiastic server came over and apologized for the wait. Robbie got the buffet which he enjoyed. My husband and I both ordered the eggs Benedict, which was pretty good. We had to request silverware, and I never got a spoon to Stir my burnt coffee. The bus staff was the best of the staff, our water was always full and plates cleared quickly. I enjoy hitting the Tavern when we visit Vail, mostly because the surrounding Lions Head village is a lot of fun to hang out in. The Tavern has a great outdoor seating area right at the base of the slope which has fantastic views. Highly recommend the French Dip and the French Onion soup (not sure why my preferences run in the European labels specifically for this restaurant...). One downside is that the prices are on the high end, but that is not uncommon for the area in general. read more

We come here for lunch several times each time we are in Vail. The food is just as great as the view, as the restaurant is located right at the bottom of the Lionshead Gondola. The wait staff are always very friendly and knowledgable concerning the menu. We usually order several appetizers and share them as our meal. The Cobb salad, white bean and avocado hummus, and the Chèvre flatbread are all excellent. The Chèvre flatbread is our favorite; we order it every single time! This is a large restaurant located slope side by the Gondola. They have limited seating outdoors, and quite a bit more seating inside. If you are lucky enough to score a seat outside on a nice sunny winter day, you can watch the skiers as they work their way down the mountain slopes. The menu is quite large, and if you are a vegetarian/vegan they have a separate menu for you! It too has lots of yummy sounding choices. The serving portions are nice, and the salads a great size! My husband ordered the regular burger and I ordered the Beyond Burger off of the vegetarian menu, He really enjoyed his burger, but me.....not so much! It was served on a gluten free bun (WHY do this if I'm not gluten free????) The bun was so dry that I couldn't eat the sandwich! Definitely feel like the Chefs weren't thinking when they created this burger......I'll pass it off as 'altitude brain' since the other vegetarian items on the menu looked good! But our excellent server - Bryan- came to the rescue and saved the restaurants reputation in my mind, and didn't charge me for the uneaten burger! He was a very pleasant & friendly gentleman who was adding personal touches and friendly conversation to those dining at all the tables he was servicing. We have eaten here on previous trips to Vail and the service has always been great. This is the first time that I was disappointed in my food. But again, thanks to Bryan - I will be back! read more

My girlfriend and I stopped in on a nice summer day to grab a quick bite, but in all honesty the best thing about this place was the service and the drinks. Our waiter did a great job and the staff was very friendly..... but the food, I've had reheated Top Ramen Noodles that we're better than this. I had the Buffalo Chili and she had the buffalo chicken nachos. The chili was one of those dishes that tastes great on the first bite then gets worse and worse the more you eat, I don't think I even finished half. The nacho chips tasted stale, the cheese was cold and the dish looked and tasted like it had been stuck in a microwave. The pico, guac and sour cream were down right disrespectful, they obviously didn't make this guac or God I hope they didn't. It had the taste and consistency like it came from some pre packaged tube from Subway, the pico was old and mushy. When your charging $15 for nachos I'd at least expect a little effort putting it together. Ya didn't finish that either. We're not picky eaters and yea yea I know it's Vail and stuff is just more expensive up there but wow, there's some soccer ball bellied toddlers in Somalia that would take a hard pass on this stuff. I'm hoping the cook was just out of town since it was off season but the drinks were the best part of the meal. But hey the service was good! read more

Had lunch here during Xmas week and would definitely return. Prices are in line with the location, so it's not cheap but the food is good enough that you don't feel ripped off. There was a bar fly with her dog that was barking all the time. I called to complain and was told well she's on the patio so nothing we can do. Interesting the management would allow a bar fly to drink one beer over several hours and the rest of the patio was empty when next door the Vail Chophouse was crowded. I have some dietary restrictions which (to me and probably some servers) can seem like a pain when I go to a restaurant. However, I was served breakfast by a LOVELY server named Mary. I told her I had some dietary issues, and she was immediately attentive to them, asking me what they were, if they were allergies or just preferences (with allergies to certain foods, this is GREAT question to ask), and she put me at ease about the chef being able to accommodate my needs. I felt cared for, cared about, and the service was fantastic...not to mention the food. It was AMAZING!! The entire experience was so great, I went back the next morning for breakfast too! Excellent breakfast in Vail! Great casual ambiance, direct views of the Eagle Bahn gondola, attentive staff. They open at 7 am. The custom omelette hit the spot. Awesome roasted finger potatoes, super-flaky buttery croissants with homemade jam, mexican casserole, bacon and fresh fruit all come together for a hearty breakfast before skiing. Coffee was also excellent. It's not as good as the best breakfast buffet I had in the mountains (Fairmont Banff) but this would do. Only downside is price - $32 per person (includes tax + 15% tip). I just wrapped up a month long stay at Vail. Since we were based in Lionshead and our son had ski school from the base there, we put in no less than 20 visits to the Tavern on the Square in March. As part of Vail ' s foray into the Luxury Hotel business under its Rock Resorts brand, this operation is within the Arabelle Hotel. Vail charges Ritz Carlton type prices and delivers Motel 6 Quality here. The venue and surrounding buildings are beautiful, but the service and food simply don't match. Given the extent of our stay we encountered many of the staff members on numerous occasions. Save for a few bartenders, there was simply no recall of our regular attendance, which made the ineptitude of the staff almost comical, except for the prices, it's simply pathetic. By the end of our trip my knowledge of the menu trumped most of the servers. This lead to favorite ritual of ordering Breckenridge Bourbon, only to be told they did not have it. To which I would respond by reciting a drink recipe from the drink menu which listed the spirit. The looks from the servers and my companions were priceless. Our breakfast visits were the true low point. Despite a seeming abundance of waitstaff, the service was painfully slow, hapless, and confused. Prompt seating followed by a 10 plus minute wait to be acknowledged by a server is the norm. We passed the time by wagering on which of our fellow diners would leave in frustration before we did. Even after ordering, the most basic breakfast items required 20 to 30 minutes before arriving. Again, for the money being charged it's just unacceptable. We experience d similar failings at lunch and dinner visits, leading to our overdue boycott of this place in our final week at the resort. Ultimately, Vail has proven to be an unfit manager of its own Luxury Brand, the company would do well to seek the Profesional management of a world class hotel franchise. Have a drink at the bar and avoid wasting your money. read more

Went tonight, July 2nd, and had a poor experience. We waited 2 hours for our entrees, a table that came after us was served before us, and the restaurant was not full at all. When we asked the waitress what was going on, she said she would check on our food. After an hour and 50 minutes It then arrived lukewarm. There were 8 of us and we all had only room temp food. This was poor service on the waitresses part as the food must have been "sitting"for a while. Will go elsewhere next time. read more

We used to love this place but it's definitely changed. We've been coming to Vail for years and always looked forward to sitting outside at Tavern on the Square after a long day of skiing, and enjoy a couple of drinks and small plates. This year for some reason the service was awful. Some of the days during the week, we had to seat ourselves outside and go inside and get drinks or whatever we wanted ourselves. This was never the case in the past. On our last day there, a Friday, we were seated outside at a dirty table by the hostess who said they would clean the table right away. After sitting there for 15 min., and still no one had come by, we asked again for the table to be cleaned and if we could order some things and were told they were not servicing outside anymore and if we wanted anything we would have to go inside and get it ourselves. We got up and left. I hope they regroup and fix the service issues for the next time we are here. We used to love this place! read more

Do not eat here. Had lunch one afternoon, fish tacos. They were good, not spectacular, not bad either. Had reservation for 10 people on Valentine's evening. When the restaurant called to confirm, we were told if we were even 1 minute late, our table would be given away. We arrived on time and had to wait on the bar. Service was mediocre (guess he was banking on his mandatory 18% due to party size) and only asked half the table about appetizers. Argued back when my friends called him out on this later, he responded "i was standing here, you should have said something. Steak was HORRIBLE!! Did not eat but about a 1/4 of it. We told the waiter that everyone's steak was overcooked and the manager was notified. The manager only approached the one person who sent theirs back. The rest of us didnt bother sending it back and were never offered a replacement. Three (not so great) desserts were sent as "compensation" for the bad steaks. Most expensive potatoes I have ever eaten. At least they were good. Don't waste your money here especially since there are so many other fantastic restaurants in Vail that are worth the money! read more

I was very disappointed with this restaurant. My mom and I decided to go have breakfast here. We were seated (with only one other table on the patio) and we're not greeted by a server for over ten minutes. It then took an additional ten minutes to get our latte. To continue the poor service, we sat for thirty minutes until we received our food. My skillet was tasty, however my mom's over easy eggs were overcooked and her English muffin was cold. We sent back the English muffin and we're not met with a piping got one, but another server questioning what was wrong. At this point I was even more with the restaurant because a manager did not even attempt to ask us how our meal was. I just had an amazing experience dining & watching some sports at the tavern on the Square in Vail, Colorado. Two particular employees really stood out to me as performing their jobs above & beyond the "call of duty." A server named Alexander was extremely friendly & cordial, making our dining experience pure bliss. And bartender, Tyler, was attentive & knowledgable about their restaurant but also very helpful about things to do in town, and places to visit. All in all these two employees made our day and I wanted to make sure they were acknowledged for the efforts...BRAVO!!! read more

I stay in Lions Head Village about 3-4 weeks per year so I eat out a lot between here and Vail Village. The Tavern has always been a good lunch spot and occasion dinner if we're feeling something more casual with some good go to menu items. Recently they cut their menu by about 60% and there are barely any entrees to order now. All of my group had trouble finding something to order, but we ate and paid and decided it was our last time at the Tavern. I've eaten here probably 20-30 times in the last 5 years and I'm not sure why they changed things so much. I would head to Vail village to find better restaurants. Lions Head seems to be dwindling with options and quality these days, it's too bad. read more

This is our 2nd time here. First was in January 2013 and it was awesome as a romantic dinner. This trip was even better. We had a very romantic dinner and we also had our 12 year old with us. Brian our waiter was amazing! We tons of stupid questions and he answered them in a very helpful manner. He made several menu suggestions that turned out very well. This restaurant is delicious, specifically the kids burger. The food comes out hot, with a wonderful view of the mountains. Music makes it a lively and comfortable place. Servers are extremely attentive and the food comes out quickly. Though I must say when we arrived, no one was serving us and we had to ask. But otherwise, this restaurant is very kid friendly and a great place to rest after skiing or snowboarding. read more
