Good food, good service, higher prices ( probably because they are in downtown Libertyville)!

Feather Glass Wine Bar & Eatery - Vernon Hills, IL…read more Overall Rating: Highly Recommended Feather Glass is a fantastic spot that nails the wine bar experience with a beautiful, modern aesthetic and top-tier service. While the food is incredibly tasty, a few minor tweaks to the composition and seasoning of certain dishes would make the experience truly flawless. The Highlights: Drinks, Ambience, & Service * The Flights: We thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and mimosa flights. They are well-curated, beautifully presented, and a great way to sample their extensive selection. * Atmosphere: The ambience is excellent and sophisticated, making it one of the most visually appealing spots in Vernon Hills. * Service: The staff provides excellent service--attentive and professional throughout the entire meal. Food Feedback & Suggestions * Mediterranean Flatbread: Very flavorful, but the olives can make it quite salty. Adding a balsamic glaze would provide a sweet contrast to balance out the saltiness. * Beet Salad: Features fresh, high-quality ingredients. This dish would benefit from a touch more salt and a bit more acid (like a bright vinegar) in the dressing to really highlight the earthy beets. * Paneer Palak Bites: A delicious fusion idea, but the execution was slightly misleading and difficult to eat. The bread lacked the expected toasted crispiness, and because the paneer is served in a thin slice, it often slides off, leaving the sauce on the plate. * Suggestion: Try chopping the paneer into small cubes, bruschetta-style, and mixing them directly with the sauce. Layering that mixture onto a properly toasted baguette would create a much more stable and crunchy bite while keeping the great texture of the cheese. Final Verdict Despite these small suggestions, this is a great restaurant that you should definitely check out. The flavors are delicious and the overall experience is wonderful.

The 5-star rating for this restaurant is very misleading…read more My husband and I came here on a Wednesday night to celebrate our 14 year anniversary. There were only two other tables there when we arrived. Nice ambience and decor. Everything arrived lukewarm or cold which is so odd considering there weren't a lot of people there. We waited quite a bit too so were shocked when our food wasn't hot. Paneer Palak Bites: Flavorful and yummy. A lot smaller than I thought they would be and they give you 5. My husband and I split the last one but I'll never understand why appetizers would be served in odd numbers. Especially considering how small and thin the baguettes were. Chicken Sliders: Tasty! The naan "buns" were a little thick though and had a weird greasy taste. We ended up taking the top naan off and eating it like a taco. The potatoes it came with had a lot of flavor but were tiny mushy little cubes. Almost as if they were frozen. Chicken Kabobs: Rice was cold. Some of the chicken wasn't cooked. I had to shine a light to the plate because it tasted off and it was pink. The waitress saw me do this but didn't approach us or say anything. We're not ones to complain so we just ate what we could. Honestly though, we could have went down the street to Pita Inn and had WAY better quality and warm food. The chicken at Pita Inn is always so moist and tender. This was literally pink, chewy and hard to cut. It was just terrible. Ended up spending about $160 including tip and the bottle of wine we had. For that price, you'd expect much better quality of food. Really wanted to love this place so it's very disappointing. We ended up going out for pizza and beer afterwards to end the night on a good note.

We started with Caesar Salad and a Prosciutto and Mozzarella dish. Both were good. The Caesar greens were a little "old and brown" but still tasted good. The Prosciutto dish was really good and fresh. Everyone doing great. We ordered some cocktails that were on point as well. Service was slow - probably had a little to do with being on a second floor of the restaurant. But we enjoyed the pace. Entrees ordered were 2 different steaks and one Bacon wrapped chicken. The steaks were amazing. A lot of places, even steakhouses, are cutting back on quality due to costs. These steaks were delicious. I ordered the Allen Bros Ribeye which was cooked perfect and was sooooooo flavorful. It was awesome. The Bacon Wrapped Chicken however, was actually black on top and the chicken dry and over cooked. My wife couldn't eat it. To the restaurant's strength, when we alerted the waiter, they immediately took it off the bill and offered to get anything else. When my wife passed (she ate some of our steaks), they bought dessert for our table too. It was the carrot cake and delicious. We will be back and enjoyed our evening out.

After several visits, it is clear this is a restaurant that understands the fundamentals of fine dining: atmosphere, execution, and a menu that extends well beyond its steakhouse label. What first sets The Tavern apart is its ambiance. The space leans into a dark, romantic, dimly lit aesthetic that feels both polished and inviting. On our most recent visit, we were seated upstairs according to our reservation, and that remains the preferred setting. The quieter noise level above the main floor allows for more comfortable conversation and a more intimate dining experience. Service was solid, if not especially memorable. Our server was efficient and capable throughout the evening, though somewhat lacking in warmth and guidance. Fortunately, the kitchen carried the night with ease. Every entrée at the table was excellent. My wife's lobster was particularly well received, while the steaks were cooked properly, deeply flavorful, and presented with the kind of care expected at this level. Presentation across the board was refined and appealing. The wine program also deserves recognition. The list is extensive, thoughtfully selected, and offers strong choices for diners who appreciate pairing a serious bottle with dinner. The Tavern is undeniably a high-price-point experience, but it largely delivers the quality and atmosphere to justify it. For those seeking a refined steakhouse meal in Libertyville with strong food, notable wine, and an intimate setting, it is easy to recommend.

There is a wine bar and counter for tastings. They also have parallel parking around the restaurant. There is a happy hour drink and food menu that you can order from until 5:30pm. I had a glass of the Riesling and an Aperol spritz. They also mark their menu items with GF or GFA and there are a lot of options. I informed the server I had a gluten allergy. I started with the cheese plate. I was able to pick 3 different cheeses to try and it came with grapes, honey, apples and jam. They do not have GF bread or crackers. For my entree, I had the GF pasta. It was cooked very well and the sauce was delicious. They have a flourless chocolate cake for dessert which was confirmed GF. It was sweet and very good. The service was excellent and can't wait to come back to try more items.

The cheese enchiladas were made with white cheese but they were really tasty. I prefer them made with yellow cheese but these were really good. The rice and beans were also really tasty separately and mixed together like I have always done. The Gringo Tacos were soft flour tortillas with ground beef with taco seasoning, lettuce and tomato and also very good. Service was friendly and attentive. The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. While they don't have a separate gluten-free menu, our server was incredibly accommodating. He went out of his way to double-check that my drink was safe and brought over an allergen menu for me. A quick note for GF diners: The menu doesn't explicitly mark gluten-free items or sides, which I wish they would change just for peace of mind. However, they do have gluten-free buns and the staff is highly attentive to allergies! The Drinks & Food: The Cocktail Menu: It's full of fun options! I had the watermelon martini to start. This was definitely on the sweeter side, but not overpowering at all. The Entree: For my entree, I ordered the Chicken BLT Pesto Sandwich (on a GF Bun) with garlic mashed potatoes: Absolutely delicious. The bun held up great and the flavor combo was spot on. Overall, it was a fantastic meal with top-notch service. I'll definitely be back, but I really hope they consider labeling their menu items and sides clearly in the future.

We ordered the Margherita pan pizza and the thin mac and cheese bacon pizza. The Margherita was my favorite. I thought I had ordered it thin crust, but it came as pan instead. The crust was a bit thick, but honestly one slice was very filling. For two people, it felt like a lot of bread -- but the toppings were really good and everything tasted fresh. You could tell the ingredients were high quality. The mac and cheese bacon pizza was good too, but you definitely have to like both mac and cheese and bacon to fully enjoy it. I personally liked it better without the bacon, but it's still a must-try if you're into unique pizza combinations. Overall, solid first takeout experience and I'd definitely order again.
