Taverna is one of my top brunch spots in Austin. The grilled octopus is consistently moist, crispy, and delicious. I always order it when I visit. The drinks are good, though I had to request an extra shot for my ston fruit martini. The Gnocchi Rustici, recommended by our server, was excellent, especially if you enjoy short rib. Visited Taverna last week as my cousins were visiting Austin. They wanted to see the bats by the Congress Bridge so we decided to eat somewhere near within walking distance to the bridge. I made a reservation and found out they have 2-hour validated parking which was perfect as it was in the garage around the corner. So convenient since it was hard to find where to park downtown. We were able to have dinner, go to the Congress Bridge to try to see the bats which never came and only paid $8 for the extended time! It saved us $22 in parking fees! After being seated, bread was quickly brought with a Marinara dipping sauce. I didn't have any bread as I had a big & hearty sandwich just a few hours before. I looked at the menu and first ordered a Sparkling Rosé. It was perfect and great way to wind down since we went outlet shopping earlier and had dropped off our stuff in our Air BnB. The waiter seemed busy and he was a bit rushed but so we ordered our drinks so he could put that in and quickly decided on our entrees. He mentioned some specials but we ended up ordering the Spaghetti Seafood Pasta, the Green & White Taglialini with Wild Mushrooms and a cream sauce and I just ordered a Caesar Salad with a side of grilled chicken. Both of the pasta entrees were pretty tasty and flavorful. I'd like to have tried the Wild Mushroom pasta as it looked nice and creamy. My salad was nice and fresh-tasting but I would've liked to have more dressing as it was on the drier side. My cousin accidentally knocked over her Prosecco so the servers gladly cleared the broken glass from the table and offered a refill. My cousin said that they could just bring half a glass. The staff was very attentive & accommodating. The seafood pasta was very generous and my cousin could only finish the seafood towards the end and her daughter didn't finish her pasta either but said it was very tasty. We did ask our waiter about the desserts as he mentioned something with Passion Fruit. We decided to get it and it was very tangy and refreshing with the Passion Fruit sauce! I think I would've eaten the whole thing myself! My cousin's from Hawaii & I love "Lilikoi" so we jumped on this dessert! Kudos to the Chef for the delicious entrees and the pastry chef for offering this delightful dessert! Everything was pretty tasty and the ambiance was nice, airy and bright. We decided to go here since we would be down town for an Easter service anyways. I called a week in advance and they messed up my reservation...twice but we were still able to get it sorted by before we actually got there. The meal was really good and the servers were very nice but it took about 45 minutes for us to get our food which wasn't great because we saw many other tables receive their food, eat their meal and leave. We were basically one of the last tables left at the end of the meal rush but I'm going to assume they were just overwhelmed. read more

Came on a Sunday around 1pm for brunch, it was decently packed but not 100% full. We had a table of 7 people, after ordering the food took about 40 minutes to come out and by this time the restaurant was now half empty. Waitress didn't come over during the time waiting for our food to check in on us or let us know the backlog on the food coming out. I ordered the Taverna hash, the brisket was cold. I didnt want to have them remake knowing how long it took for food to come out. The portion size wasn't that big, not too many potatoes in the hash. Auto 20% tip for a group more than 6, waitress did point this out to us (so kudos to her) but also did verbally ask for additional tips. Overall disappointed with this experience, lackluster service+ overpriced for lackluster flavors and small portions. Most likely wouldn't come again. read more

For first time visit and for this meal gathering, food was just right temp and had a homestyle taste. Service, specifically at the bar was excellent. Very inviting and friendly ambiance, not loud or crowded. Very reasonable pricing. Parking could be done privately 1 block from establishment, if no parking on street. If in the area in future definitely will visit this place and recommend to many. read more

This was one of my favorite brunch experiences ever and that is specifically tied to the exceptional staff!! A friend that dined with me loved an item that was no longer on the menu. However, they decided to still make it for him. We felt so special and cared for here. They also had a DJ on the weekend who is so nice and fun! That made for the perfect vibe for our friend group. The environment is relaxed and fun for conversation. PLUS the food is absolutely exceptional! Will be back again soon! read more

Such a fun brunch spot! To eat, I had the chicken and waffles which was pretty solid. The mimosas were delicious however and $12 for a pitcher was a great deal. Whenever you order shots, they bring out sparklers for everyone who ordered one at the table. Since it was my birthday, we all did a shot together which was so fun. Our waiter was great and he even brought a little dessert out to celebrate. Definitely make a reservation if you go! Also the music was really good but you can't hear it unless you're on the bar side. read more

Decent club type restaurant in downtown Austin. I think they do Italian food well, but the vibe was a mix for me. The crowd didn't seem to be a fan of the loud music during the day, but I was. On the weekends, they start a live DJ around 11:30am. I wish they had more brunch specials, but the meatballs were delicious and the burger was so good I forgot to take a photo. Our server was nice and I would definitely refer the right crowd to come back! read more

The staff was great- friendly attentive with only one flaw. The appetizers were great, flavorful and put together well, I had the Caprese Salad and my husband the Caesar, both looked and tasted wonderful. The our main dishes came out- he had the short ribs which were again colorful and full of flavor, very well done. However, my shrimp scampi was blah. No color (the shrimp were undercooked), no flavor (and when I mentioned this I was brought salt and pepper and red chili flakes so I could make it taste better). Then I mentioned the menu description said something about lemon which is what I was looking forward to and there was not even a hint of lemon. The cure? Bring me half a lemon to squeeze into the dish. After doctoring up the dish (which was still blah in color even the few tomato's seemed to be grey instead of red to match the color of the undercooked shrimp. I managed to eat about half. When the waiters helper came by to take the 1/2 eaten plate she asked if I wanted to take it home and I said definitely not, "it was bland, colorless, the worst I've eaten and I've eaten alot of scampi". The reply was a smile, nod and ok. The main waiter then brought our desert- which was wonderful. When he asked us how our meal was I again said it while my husbands was great, mine was a grey blob of flavorless food. When you go order salads and braised short ribs, just stay away from the scampi and don't be surprised when they bring the seasoning to your table for you to season the food the chef gets wrong. read more

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Taverna in downtown Austin, and a huge part of that was thanks to our server, Victoria. From the moment we were seated, she was warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She gave excellent recommendations (her suggestion for the risotto was spot-on!), kept our drinks filled without us even asking, and somehow managed to anticipate what we needed before we did. What really stood out was her personality--friendly and genuine without ever feeling rushed or scripted. She made our dinner feel special and memorable. If you're dining at Taverna, ask for Victoria--you won't be disappointed. read more

We showed up without reservations at 5:45 and they did not have any availability. The bar was available and a couple kindly shifted so we could have two seats together. Service was excellent. Food was excellent, delicious and well presented. Patrons were across the board on age and dining area, bar and patio were all very lively. Nice place. Bathroom could use additional fit and finish work but were clean. read more

Pranzare! My wife and I had just got to downtown and ready to enjoy a nice lunch. I have dined at Taverna at the Domain NORTHSIDE and enjoyed it so was expected great things here too. The place was not too busy and decided to dine at the bar. I noticed this location has two sections where one is main restaurant an the other the Bacci Room which was dark and closed off. It looked like an upgraded night lounge. We were quickly greeted and I ordered a glass of white wine. From the menu I ordered a pasta dish. The service was very impressive and the whole place is very elegant. It's a perfect place to take a date to. The wine was great and the pasta fantastico! It was just the best pasta I had in a while. It was cooked perfectly, great presentation, and filling. The taste was buttery mixed with a nice liquidity sauce. Taverna has excellent Italian character and charm where the whole package was excellent. read more

Our group was in town for a bachelorette party so we needed fuel before the events. We stumbled upon this place which is perfectly located downtown. It's right on the corner but not in the middle of all the chaos downtown. Even though we didn't have reservations, they were able to accommodate us immediately. We got there before the supper rush which is good because we got great service before other diners came in. Unfortunately afterwards our server forgot we were there. The food and drinks here are is delicious. The lavender refresher is so tasty and pairs perfectly with any entree. All the dishes did have a lot of pepper in it. Not sure if one of the chefs love pepper but every dish had a strong taste of pepper. *Gluten Free Diners* Even after ordering, double check your food is GF. We had two dishes dropped off that weren't gluten free even tho we ordered them GF. Their GF focaccia bread tasted so delicious and not like any GF bread you've ever tasted. Our non GF eaters even loved it! The overall ambiance is great. Beautiful decor, ample seating and in a great location. The bathroom was in desperate need of servicing. I am sure if we stopped by during a non rush time we would have received a better dining experience. read more

Mother's Day was terrific! Nice food, nice place, super busy do service was slow (over an hour to get our food!!!) but not unexpected due to the holiday. The waiter was attentive and polite. The ahi tuna app came with a dry ice pineapple fogger that was awesome!! (I'd rather have more tuna myself but the effect was undeniably memorable and added a dash of excitement and entertainment to our long wait!) wife had tasty french toast, I had seafood with crispy fried veggies (tempura type batter was excellent!) My daughter had the Benedict which looked great! All in all a good experience and looking forward to our next visit when they are, hopefully, not so busy. read more

The only thing that's stopping me from giving it 5 stars is the service. The workers were all nice, but it took about an hour to get seated even though we have reservations. We went on a Friday night. However they did give us some free apps to make up for it. I thought the food and drinks were delicious, and a big portion. I tried their Cabernet, bruschetta, fried pickles, and truffle pasta. I believe I paid around $40-50 for the drink and pasta. Parked on the street outside with paid meter. Ambience inside was nice. Saw some people do shots that came with sparklers. How fun! read more

Taverna, the downtown Austin location, had great food and wine! We went for a birthday celebration and went specifically for the Cacio e Pepe. We started with the Frittura Mista Di Mare (calamari, shrimps, vegetables, spicy tomato aioli, tartar sauce, lemon), then the Cacio which is prepared tableside in a Parmesan wheel, and had to finish with dessert. Came here for brunch! What a cute spot! Good photo ops for Instagram as well. We got a whole Carafe of champagne for mimosas for $12. All the food we ordered was really good. Recommend making a reservation especially on the weekend! If you park in the garage they will validate your parking. Go check them out! read more

Taverna has pros and cons. It's "mid" as my teenager would say. I've been here a few times now so I feel like I can write a thorough review. The food: The chopped salad was good as a starter. It probably wouldn't be enough as a full meal for an average adult. It was missing the cherry tomatoes for some reason.....They have GF pasta and pizza which is a plus. The pasta portions are smaller than what you will find most other places, but it is delicious. The pizza lacks flavor. Seems to need more seasoning, just bland...We ordered GF pasta and they served regular pasta to my Celiac family member. Luckily I caught the mistake before he ate it and it was replaced quickly, within about 10 minutes. Ambiance: If you're expecting Italian vibes, you won't find them here. It's nice, but nothing unique. The bathroom made me think of a prison bathroom. All gray, no decor, nowhere to hang my purse. Stirpped down and bare bones, semi-clean. Service: Service is ok, but servers are not very friendly. They must not be from Texas because we are friendly here. I've ordered Door Dash from here once and only part of my order came so not sure how good the quality control is before food goes out the door. The location in the middle of the Domain is great, so I guess that is why they have higher prices. However the food, ambiance, and service don't quite live up to those prices. read more

8/10 -Lamb (Daily Special) -Filetto Di Manzo -Blood Orange Margarita The first pic is a rack of lamb, cut and displayed elegantly paired with potato puree and other garnishes. A little under temp for my liking but was still delicious. This item was one of their daily specials and isn't on their normal menu. The second pic shows a flavor tenderloin, mashed potatoes, carrots and asparagus. This was my favorite out of the two. The meal was then enjoyed with some tasty blood orange margaritas .This restaurant is great if you have the craving for Italian cuisine, either for lunch or dinner! Highly recommend! I ordered the margherita pizza and it was pretty good. It definitely could have used more flavor, salt and pepper, and the toppings were sparse but the cheese was plentiful and the crust was perfect. It's just a bit boring for me so I wouldn't get it again. Service was good, no complaints. Very classy restaurant if a bit loud. read more

This restaurant has the worst avocado toast I've had in my life. Picture attached says it all. The bread tasted like it was from Orowheat that you find in grocery stores, they can't replace salmon with anything vegetarian so you're paying $17 for a shitty toast that tastes like it was made by a 5 yr old kid. It's a joke. It's embarrassing that they would serve food like this for brunch. I'm never coming back read more

A buddy and I went to have two small pizzas, a tea and salad. Pizzas were terrible. The salad was OK and one unsweet tea and we get charged $130. These people will rip you off. The even that good. Stay away from this place. They totally manipulated the prices to charge us more. read more

Stopped by with friends last Sunday for brunch and had a lovely experience. We were promptly seated and greeted by our server. We ordered beignets to share along with a carafe of Mimosa. I had the Eggs Benedict with Crabmeat - delicious! We ordered another carafe - this time Bellini. Must say food and drinks were spot on. I was impressed with the overall ambiance, menu selection and friendly staff. I plan on visiting again soon - I do recommend. read more

I didn't think Austin could pull off truly authentic pizza. I was dead wrong. Baldinucci is absolute sorcery. The moment I took a bite of their Roman-style pizza, I was instantly thrown back to the tiny, narrow pizzerias I stumbled into in Italy. It has that exact, hyper-specific airy crunch that is so incredibly hard to replicate outside of Europe. The dough is clearly fermented with patience. It's light, shatteringly crisp on the bottom, and has those beautiful, irregular air pockets that give it a pillowy structure without ever feeling heavy. Let's talk about the sauce, because that's where most places fail. It isn't that sugary, paste-heavy stuff you find at standard joints. It is vibrant, bright, and tastes intensely of sun-ripened tomatoes and clean olive oil. It is remarkably fresco; striking that perfect balance where the acidity cuts through the richness of the cheese without overwhelming the palate. The vibe inside the West Lake spot is casual and unpretentious, but they take their craft seriously. Food service is streamlined and efficient; you order at the counter, and they pop the slices back into the oven so they land at your table screaming hot. Taverna is "the most" extravagent place i've dined. The service was great the chefs' special was fabulous. I was infacuated by the servers working hard and in a fast paced enviroment it's a shame more people don't tip them the proper percentage at lunch and "as explained by our gorgeous sever." We came for brunch and enjoyed it very much. It's pricey but definitely delicious, the endless bellinis didn't help either! We sat outside and the environment was good, not too loud. The service was excellent and super fast. My only critique is that they told us a 20 minute wait when it was in fact 40 minutes. Now we don't mind waiting 40 minutes (have never liked to do so before, but will if we must) but you should at least have the decency and respect to be honest. I would rather you over-estimate and then we are pleasantly surprised, rather than wait it out only to get frustrated and agitated. Towards the 40 min mark my husband kept saying, 'it better be worth it'. Well thankfully for Taverna, it was. And by our 2nd bellini we were fine with the wait. Such a waste of an early morning Sunday. I had to ask myself if I was at the Marque. Or Brown Bar. Literally sat surrounded by drunks in the light of day. My French Toast was rock-hard. Had brunch in the Baci Room. The WORST experience I have ever had dining out. We arrived on time for the reservation @ 1:30.... Took an extra 15 minutes to get seated, and a whole hour before the drink order was taken. The server broke not one, not two, but three glasses on our table... On top of that the mussels we ordered (two orders) half them didn't even have mussels in them. It was a $400 meal with HORRIFIC service. The blonde curly haired girl servicing us had to have been cracked out because she was wide-eyed and could not remember a damn thing we ordered. I would do zero stars if I could. My daughter took me here as a surprise on half price wine day. She insisted on our server being Alex, apparently she always requests her section when she comes in here. I used to be a server back in the day, so if someone suggests a certain server or bartender then that is the person we will have. My daughter insisted on the mussels, which were fantastic. Alex allowed us to try 3 different wines. We found one we love and ordered the bottle. The main course was amazing. I really enjoyed the environment. Yeah this is about the fourth time I've been to taverna but I just cannot believe how rude the staff was this time. We waited over forty five minutes, and there was a smell of death next to the bar. My friend actually had to walk on broken glass from a mimosa or orange juice, it was dangerous and just laying there. The bartenders were very nice but the crowd at the bar was so rude as we waited and waited. We decided to finally stop waiting and left for a great brunch elsewhere. Could not believe the rudeness. Do not go to this ratchet ghetto establishment. I was in there one day and that nasty old Lombardi was in the bathroom destroying the toilet. Hadn't been here before and thought we would give it a try. The server offered us our "choice" of breads and little did we know the 2nd choice was from the menu and wasn't free. Not a big deal, we just felt a little deceived. Got the mussels which were mediocre, there were a couple of bad ones that definitely smelled very off. It has been a year since I visited (I don't live inside Austin, and I am not fond of downtown Austin parking). The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Drinks were good. Prices are fair. There is one major drawback (beside the parking). It seems as if the owners are apparently trying to squeeze in as many seats as possible, and that makes it far too crowded for a relaxing meal. She asked me if everything was okay and I told her I wasn't happy with the bread and she couldn't have possibly cared less. She said, "oh. Okay". Seriously. Not even a fake apology.
