The food was delicious! For some reason my husband and I did not hear good things about this place but we decided to go with another couple to try it out. We started with the small appetizer platter. SOOO good and very fresh! For dinner I did get the lamb shish kabob! It was delicious and they did give us a generous serving. For cocktails I did a Moscow mule and a strawberry dream. Both tasted very good and were also generously served. As for the staff, they checked on us multiple times both the waiter and the managers. The inside was very clean and well taken care of. The lighting was perfect for a late dinner. Our reservation was at 7 and we stayed until 10:30-11 having a conversation. Update: after reading someone else's review, I did not realize gratuity was included in the bill and my husband and friend both added 30 bucks on top of the gratuity included. Taverna on the Hudson has a beautiful location in a new building and across from water and the golf course. Unfortunately the food is mediocre and the drink service is slow. I got the French martini which had chambord, vodka and pineapple juice. I only tasted chambord, which is okay because I love chambord but it was not a balanced drink at all. Also it was $17, which is expensive for drinks in Bayonne. I can get an excellent $14 cocktail elsewhere. My husband liked his old fashioned but it was way too smoky. The bartender also took 15 min to make the drinks even though there were two other people in the restaurant. The waiters were friendly and nice. They could have been a bit more attentive or told us our drinks are taking a little longer and would be ready soon. The lamb chops were $39 dollars, 4 grizzly pieces. It was disappointing because the flavor was so good. I was just licking it basically. I barely got any meat. They need to buy Australian lamb chops, those have the most meat. They buy bad/cheap quality. The salad it came with was large and delicious. It was drowning in dressing but at least I liked the dressing and it had lots of fresh veggies on it. Like onions, tomatoes and cucumbers. The lamb chops were on top of pita that was dry. My husband got the baba ganoush and it came with better fluffy pita. The baba ganoush was a large portion with plenty of pita and I liked the garnish on top of fresh pomegranate seeds. He also got the spinach pie which was not spinach pie, it was more like a pastry or dumpling and had no cheese in it. It was not the typical layered spinach pie. And the spinach was very vinegary. They should describe it more on the menu to not mislead customers. They did give complimentary olives at the start which was a nice touch. Another thing was that we had a wobbly table. They fixed it but really they should check the tables every night to make sure it's not wobbly. To have to ask the waitress to fix it ruins the experience. This place is scamming customers. That is a big no no. Not only was the gratuity included in the bill, but not clearly stated - by law it has to be. The prices on the bill (each item) included tax, but than at the bottom of the bill there was a tax total (additional to the tax already charged). Scammers! Food : the liver appetizer - horrible. That is not what it is supposed to be. Cubed, floured and fried in lots of paprika is what it should be. Mixed grill was raw. We were asked by the waiter for the temp we wanted. Came back here for a birthday dinner for a very good friend that I basically claim as family. It was a weekday but still pretty busy and the food came out at a decent rate. We ordered an appetizer to share, it was the appetizer with the four different dips and absolutely phenomenal. We also ordered some spicy wings and the spice level was bearable nothing too extreme. I had a mint lemonade which I enjoyed thoroughly and by time the food came I truly had no space left which is a good thing because it was eaten for lunch the next day. My only complaint was the fact that we could only be served hookah if we ate outside and this visit was back in March when it was still way too cold to sit outside so I feel like they should've just allowed it indoors. read more

Food was phenomenal here. We, unfortunately, didn't get many photos of it because we ate everything so quickly. We sat outside on the patio which had a nice breeze for the summertime. They offer hookah out there too which is nice to see there is a local spot for it, but it doesn't disturb any other diners if you're not interested in it. The inside area is beautiful and felt more fancy--perfect for a date night or family celebration. We ordered the kibbeh, hummus with meat, and quad of dips (labneh, hummus, baba ganouj, and a red pepper dip.) My Lebanese husband said the kibbeh was as good as his grandmother's which is high praise. For entree, I got the lamb kebab which was delicious but so much food. Looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow. Very happy to have gone here for a night out. Not so good... Came to Taverna On The Hudson with my sister for some local dinner on a week day. The place was pretty empty. Only like 6 groups of people inside and outside. The space is very big and it's nice they have an outside. There were mostly people smoking hookah out there. We sat outside but it got really windy so we asked to move inside. They had no issue and helped us move inside. We ordered a moscow mule and lychee martini. We enjoyed the drinks a lot. I was happy to see there was an actual lychee in it. We ordered the small appetizer platter which consisted of Hummus, baba ghanoush, labneh, and muhammara. I couldn't have the muhammara because it has nuts. The other dips were fine but my favorite is always baba ghanoush. For the entree we shared the Chicken Shawarma platter. It was a good size. I feel like the chicken shawarma lacked flavor. Definitely wasn't close to the other Mediterranean spots I've tried. The fries were probably the best part to me. My sister really likes the spot so I guess it's just preference. Went on a Monday afternoon with my partner, and had a pleasant experience. The decor was new and modern industrial. The staff was pleasant and took our order with no issue; the food came out promptly. The menu is a little pricey, but the portion size for the entrees was more than enough for me. Hummus was fresh! Definitely would bring a group here. The only gripe I have was that they seem to try to enforce a certain dress code through signs on the door. I think I found my new favorite Mediterranean spot, that doesn't require me to drive out all the way to Patterson!! Went for lunch to this lovely spot. The restaurant is located in a good location with a good parking available outside . The service was excellent our waiter was very pleasant and attended to all our needs during our lunch . The appetizer platter was absolutely amazing. The serving size was perfect and it came with unlimited pita bread that was served nice and warm. Kibbeh is my favorite Mediterranean appetizer so I decided to try it. It was fried to perfection however lacked a little flavor to my personal preference but overall it was really good. The mix grill was the star of the show. Ordered it to share with one more person but honestly I feel like it's a serving size for one. The proteins were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. They serve drinks as well and decided to try an espresso martini, which was delicious!!!! They unfortunately don't have a happy hour, but drinks are between $10-$20, but worth the price read more

Just had a lovely dinner at Taverna on the Hudson. I was greeted by a lovely young woman and the waitress was professional. My friend and I started with a glass of wine followed by fried calamari. My friend had filet mignon with fries and I had grilled Bronzino. Both dishes delicious. I showed them my college ID and received a free mint lemonade and 10% off because I was professor. The food here is excellent, but the staffing and service need significant improvement. We had a 9:30 PM reservation but weren't seated until over an hour later. Once seated, it took another 30 minutes just to receive our drinks. We placed our food order around 10 PM and didn't receive it until almost midnight. It's clear that the restaurant needs more servers to keep up with demand. As the Director of Infection Control at a nearby hospital, I also noticed concerning hygiene practices. Our waitress wore black gloves the entire time, which is a major infection control risk--gloves should never be worn continuously while serving food. Additionally, servers wearing heels is a serious fall hazard, putting both staff and the restaurant at risk of injury and liability. On top of that, having only one bartender to serve a large crowd slows down the entire dining experience. Cutting costs on staffing is ultimately affecting the quality of service. Also, automatic gratuity should not be added to the bill when the service is poor--especially when a waitress never checks in to see if everything is okay. While the food is fantastic, the service needs major improvements to match. read more

This was a pre-cruise lunch. We arrived at 12 noon hoping to get in & out quickly. Service was very slow. Why they assigned one server for a table of 9 boggles the mind. There was only one other two top to wait on. Drinks took forever to arrive. The food though, was excellent! The hummus needs more garlic, IMO. We were at the Taverna today for lunch. VERY DISSAPOINTED. While the ambiance was pleasant and service friendly, the food was bad. They brought out pita at first. Cold. We ordered fried calamary- pale and rubbery, not warm, not freshly fried. We ordered salads. They looked pretty but were inedible. Mine was supposed to be a Greek salad. cheep olives straight out of a can, frozen tomatoes, some very sour dressing. I sent it back. (They still charged me for it) I ordered spinach pie. They brought out 3 small packets (cold) they had a little spinach inside. Cold and tasteless, they didn't even resemble a spinach pie. My husbands salad was maybe a tiny bit "better" even thought his tomatoes were from the same batch as mine, frozen, disgusting stuff.
