The food was good! I loved the menu, a nice change from standard American and fast food. The service was great someone was always around to offer more drinks or tidy our table. The drinks were effective and tasty! I will return

Another Bayonne staple. I grew up coming here as a kid and it remained a favorite into adulthood. This place was on our food list, as we moved away, and wanted to hit up classic Bayonne spots. My friend put me on to the the steak sandwich a few years ago. It's an open faced sandwich served over buttered toast. I feel like a 1950s housewife eating this. It's like pure butter. Phenomenal. It's served with fries, but I always sub for the garlic potatoes. You have the option of soup or salad for a side. And of course, the onion soup is an absolute must.

Had to check this place out, it looks so magical from the outside. On inside even more, you are transported to a different time or a different country. The waiters were super nice. Not busy at all at 6 on a Thursday. Other reviews say this place is small but there is about 7 tables in the front and like 10 tables in the back, maybe it seems small when it's busy on the weekend. We got some signature cocktails that were on a menu at the booth. No prices but then we when we got the bill the milk way was $13 and the white wolf was $9. Both drinks were amazing. They got me very happy tipsy. And you really taste the pecan in the white wolf and the chocolatey creamy goodness in the Milky Way. We split the onion soup and the filet mignon. The onion soup for $8 was reasonably priced for the amount of cheese and soup they give. It was the best we both ever had. The flavor was so balanced and not too salty. The bread is under the cheese and the cheese tasted so good and gooey. The filet mignon had a good char and flavor but about 2 oz of it was grizzle, it was not center cut either. The spinach was amazing though, creamy but still felt like you were eating a vegetable. I would definitely come back again and try some of the other food like the corn beef. I also want to get those drinks again. This place was a nice warm hug on a rainy day!

AMAZING local spot. A previous reviewer hinted that it seems like the kind of place where if you go twice you become a regular. That is spot on. The old -school vibe is great. It is a very old fashioned place that is very comfortable and not pretentious at all. The people are all from nearby, and seem to be very familiar with the menu and what is on tap. Not to worry, though ... everyone is super friendly even if you are new. I can attest to that from my recent visit, and before I go any further, I"ll provide the spoiler alert that I will definitely be going back. The food: We ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls and they were phenomenal. The unexpected surprise was the homemade ketchup. Homemade ketchup! As it turns out, they take great care in all their ingredients, and this has a little spice to it. Not to worry, they also have the Heinz if you prefer. The burgers were on point. Made fresh, and cooked the way we asked. The wings were awesome too. I plan on getting the steak next time, or something German.

My girlfriend and I came here for dinner on a weekday evening. It was our first time trying this place. We arrived pretty early in the night, around 6pm, and it wasn't crowded at all. We were able to get a booth table right away. While looking over the menu, we ordered a glass of wine and a beer. For our meals, we went with 2 of there more famous dishes ordered here; the sauerbraten and sliced steak sandwich. Both of these meals were delicious. I especially enjoyed the sauerbraten, as the gravy covered over the meat was really good. The steak sandwich was cooked medium, which wad perfect, and just overall tasted great. We both enjoyed our meals and experience here. They have lots of menu items to chose from, and we would definitely come back to try some more items.

So I called in a order for pickup and once we arrived the bar had a couple people sitting at the end of the bar so me and my friend sat at the other end of the bar only for the bartender to come up to us and tell us he is going to need the seat for other people we got up and no one even sat down. Will never go back again but the girl host was very nice.

Last time I came here was 12 years ago. Nothing really changed. The interior looks the same. It has an old school feel to it. I came here for St. Patrick's day. I heard they have the best corned beef and cabbage in Bayonne. I have to agree, it was delicious. The food came quickly but it took half an hour for the waitress to come to my table after we finished dinner. I will come back when it is not a busy.

I saw a billboard highway ad for Americano while driving home from work and didn't realize it was nearby, so decided to give it a try. Street parking was available. I'll preface this by saying I came on a weekday around 5 PM after work, so it wasn't particularly busy when I entered there were like 2 people dining inside tops. There didn't seem to be a dedicated host or hostess at the entrance, but a staff member eventually led me to the bar area and took my order. They didn't seem too enthusiastic but maybe it was a long day, who knows.. I ordered a salad, seafood, alcoholic drink, and dessert; I was a little surprised that the salmon didn't come with any sides. When I asked, I was told that sides had to be ordered separately. So I had to wait for my mashed potatoes to come in and by then my seafood had cooled off. That's fine, but I would've appreciated a heads-up when ordering rather than finding out once the entree arrived. The ambiance is very nice. I really liked the classic movie-star decor, the music fit the setting well, and I appreciated that the staff were appropriately dressed for the atmosphere. I'm a James Bond fan so it was nice seeing Sean Connery and Daniel Craig up on the wall. Those details gave the restaurant a polished feel for sure. The pricing, however, felt high for what you get, particularly for Bayonne... it was closer to what I'd expect to pay in Manhattan. I was also surprised by the automatic 20% gratuity that caught me blindsided. On top of that, the receipt still gives you the option to leave an "additional tip," which could easily lead someone who doesn't notice the automatic gratuity to tip twice. So I actually tipped twice unknowingly lol. I think the 20% charge should be made very clear to guests when the check is presented.. Overall, I would still recommend Americano, but I'd caution others to expect a relatively expensive dining experience for what it's worth. One final small detail.. I would've appreciated a simple "thank you" or "goodbye" on the way out. The staff seemed preoccupied, so I didn't make much of it, but at around $150 per person (see my receipt) you'd naturally expect the service to match the premium pricing. I'm also comparing this to local premium fine dining areas in the NJ area like Felina Restaurant, The Feathered Fox, The Maddy Rose, 87 Sussex, Sofia's Fine Italian Cuisine, etc, so as you can see there's a lot of competition that offers similar value, and I'd say what separates each are vibes and customer service since that's what you're paying extra for. It's the little details that count. Again, it's got great atmosphere, great potential, and it's a promising restaurant, but the service and value could be a little more polished for the price point. I got a Sazerac with cognac, I usually get that but this time they didn't have Pierre Ferran for they only had Ansac. It doesn't matter." I'm like if you're gonna ask me that many times then let's change it. So I got a sidecar and that was fire.

SECOND, the food is just as amazing! I was so happy hahah. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a restaurant for more than just their food. We had a lovely night out with a couple who are our long time and good friends and we looked forward to this evening! However, there was a problem at the beginning of the evening that is unacceptable... my husband went to park the car, our friends were waiting at the bar for us, I walked in first. My friend ordered me an Aperol Spritz and my husband a diet coke. My husband does not drink and has been very successful with his sobriety for many years. The bartender, (I later found out her name is Maureen and apparently she is a manager there), misunderstood the drink order so my friend reiterated that we wanted a diet coke and an Aperol Spritz (two separate drinks). The "diet coke" arrived in a soda glass with a lemon wedge (just like a diet coke would) and the Aperol Spritz arrived in a cocktail glass. My husband took a sip of the "diet coke" and asked me if it tasted like there was liquor in it. Sure enough there was. We immediately returned it and the other bartender confirmed that it was a mix of Aperol Spritz with diet coke in the soda glass. My husband confronted the bartender and told her about her grievous mistaken and full disclosure, he said this is a "big f$%ken mistake you made". She took absolutely no responsibility for her error and shouted at him that she "was told to make a diet coke with Aperol Spritz". Truth be told, we clarified the drink order to her and why would she present the "diet coke" in a soda glass if it indeed was a cocktail. She went full "Karen mode" on him when she should have apologized. My request is that she re-trains in customer service and her ability to mix drinks! Like I said above, the food was excellent, the waiter was great, but this error is a serious error. People do make mistakes, but please acknowledge your mistakes and take care with serious issues. The dining experience was great, but I cannot give a 5 star due to the error.
