Even though the restaurant was busy, our server Samantha was excellent and attentive! We ordered a bottle of Moët which they were out of and the manager Jonathan literally walked outside of the restaurant to find a bottle of Moët for us!!!! Considering the expectations from a Lombardi establishment, I was disappointed with this experience. We were seated quickly, and the drink service was timely and tasty, but things went downhill from there. Bread service consisted of a thin focaccia, sliced into narrow strips, and an olive oil with pesto. This ended up being the highlight of the meal, frankly. Next up was a starter of beef carpaccio. It was kind of a strange presentation, featuring thinly sliced beef with a sauce of sorts that had almost a gelatinous texture, and tasted like cheap Italian dressing. Shaved Parmesan cheese and a tiny bit of black pepper were present, as well as four raspberries (!), one at each corner of the meat. The texture of the meat was almost complete mush, making it more of a scooping dish rather than forkable. For the price, it was especially disappointing. For the main course, I selected the lasagna, and my dining partner requested fettucini bolognese. The lasagna was OK, with thin sheets of pasta and nicely alternated cheese and meat fillings, but the red sauce was fairly uninspiring and not very flavorful. The fettucini was just plain bad. The pasta was woefully undercooked, almost crunchy, and when we spoke to the manager, he asked if we wanted a better cooked replacement. Um, yes? Really, the only acceptable answer here would have been "We will take care of it". We asked that they remove the dish from the bill. The service was OK, if a little slow, but the food was really disappointing. I'm hoping we just hit them on a bad night, but I'm not terribly inspired to try again. read more

This restaurant is an insult to Italian Cuisine. Took my family to dinner on New Year's Eve. What a mistake. How they even have 3.5 stars is beyond me. You would be better off eating at Olive Garden. All four meals were horrendous. Both appetizers we ordered were tasteless. In comparison, Chef Boyardee from a can would be considered a 5 star meal to this place. Even their desserts were nasty. Owner should be ashamed. Several hundred dollar lesson learned on my part. Will never be returning. No wonder they were half empty on New Year's. Great food and drinks! We came with a group of 8 and they were able to accommodate us very well. We all started with cocktails and then got some wine with our pasta dishes. I had the Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese and it was amazing! It was a perfect sized portion. Good thing, because I would have finished it all no matter how big - that's how good it was! Our server asked if we were celebrating anything and we were celebrating our friends getting engaged, so they were nice enough to bring us out some complimentary desserts. My coworkers and I came to Taverna for an end of year dinner. There were 8 of us and we were able to make reservations, which is always a plus. Outside of having to endure the constant onslaught of cars at Legacy West (especially around the holidays) the experience was great. We had two people taking care of us - our waiter and then someone who came around to make sure our glasses were always full and taking care of any other needs we had. The food we ordered was very tasty. I especially enjoyed the Taverna Focaccia we ordered as an appetizer. I would have had it for my entree if the table didn't order it for apps. We also enjoyed Antipasto Emiliano which was an amazing assortment of fruits, cheeses and olives. I was in the mood for mushrooms so for dinner I ordered the Funghi E Tartufo pizza, which is a favorite on the menu and the waiter recommended. It was tasty, but didn't have quite as much flavor as I would have liked. If you've ever had the Holy Shitake Pie pizza at Mellow Mushroom, this one doesn't quite stack up but, again, it was tasty enough. I love a sweet wine, but wanted something that would go along with the pizza, so the waiter recommended a reisling that paired perfectly. A little over a week ago, my wife, sister, and I were out celebrating my wife's birthday. The place we were originally wanting to have dinner at didn't really work out, so at the last minute we looked around to see what else was open and looked good. Taverna was on our list, so we figured we would go ahead and give it a try. Without even having a reservation we were seated immediately and within less than a minute our server, Mario, came to the table to get our drink orders. Mario from the start was an excellent server, incredibly personable, experienced, and had great recommendations immediately on hand. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer and very soon we were happily enjoying both. My first drink was a citrus lavender cocktail, which unfortunately I don't remember the name, but it was very delicious. We had their meatball appetizer, which was incredible as well, especially with the garlic bread that was brought to the table. We soon ordered our entrées and within 45 minutes we had been seated, gotten drinks, appetizers, and our entrées to boot. A feel terrible for not remembering the names of what we ordered, but they were all delicious! When it came time for another drink, I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita, something Mario suggested, and BOY, did he not disappoint! I'll definitely be asking for his recommendation going forward, and not just for the drinks! For dessert, the girls both got a hazelnut chocolate cake, which one was free for my wife's birthday, and I had the cannolis, which were so GOOD. My wife and I went in for an early dinner last Friday. We started with the Fritto Misto appetizer. The Calamari were way over cooked which made each bite extremely chewy. The two Shrimp were also overcooked resulting in chewy and dry. The Zucchini and Eggplant were limp and oily. I discourage anyone from ordering this appetizer! My wife had the Bucatini Alla Carbonara. She stopped eating the pancetta because too difficult to chew. She stated "it's like little rocks of salt". & the overall dish is very salty. A little salty is expected with carbonara but their prep is beyond reasonable expectation. (Topping it with the aged Parmesan didn't help.) I had the Veal Parmigiana. I very much enjoyed this dish. A fairly thick cut of veal yet it was tender. & The overall flavor was pleasing. Although I recognize the restaurant is located in Legacy West which means their overhead is relatively more but - pricing is still a little too high for the three menu items we tried. I work in an office nearby but for some reason I have never been until this week when we stopped by for lunch. They have a fairly extensive menu, I had been recommended to try their pizza so we ordered the Salamino pizza which has salami, grape tomatoes, mozzarella and goat cheese. It's baked with a thin crust yet it was still somewhat soft. The flavor was wonderful! I have not had better pizza in the DFW area. I will need to try something different from their menu next time and see if the quality is this good across the board. The service was good, they checked on us plenty of times to make sure we had everything we needed. They have both indoor and plenty of patio seating. It was actually comfortable to sit out on the patio on the day we went which is unusual for August in Texas. read more

The grilled Octopus with baby potatoes and Feta purée with olives and tomatoes. They executed this dish better than anyone in the Dallas area . But to my disappointment when I ordered this dish . It has now been completely changed into something that they should be Embarrassed to have on their menu . It is now a dish with home fries as potatoes and chopped peaces of Octopus with mushy tomatoes, no olives . The Feta purée is gone . Now they give you a mayonnaise based sauce that tastes like something that might've come from In-N-Out Burger. They went from something so excellently executed to something disastrous. Any off you that would order that dish before. Please stay away from it . We now have a dish with no imagination or could be considered remotely appealing. Always loved Taverna especially their brunch menu since I lived in Fort Worth few years ago. Now that I am closer to west plano location, this spot has been my go to place with my friends. Because of the pandemic I try to avoid crowded hours and I think around 1pm is the perfect hour for me. Atmosphere/interior: 5/5 feels like i am in a high end restaurants. Modern interior and have short coat/bag holder for each table if needed. I would say it is perfect for 2 to 4 people indoor and larger group for covered patio sitting. Food: 5/5 I always love pasta here. Savory and perfect al dante. Recently I ordered tagliolini al fruit di mare, burrata pizza, and filetto di manzo. Everything was great. I tried burrata pizza for the first time and this was great choice over classic Margherita as I was wanting more flavor. Filet was perfectly cooked in medium as we requested and truffle mashed potato went very well with it. Service: 5/5 i like the fact that reservation is available for anytime and any size of party. Staff was attentive and not in a rush although she seemed to be the only one serving for the whole patio area and half portion of the indoor. I always feel welcomed and leave here happy. Our server was great but it was rather confusing that the 4-6 suited men and women with the bearing of managers studiously avoided our table while checking on virtually everyone around us, but all's forgiven if the food's good. Well...spoiler: the food was not it. The namesake burger came out looking as good as it had in the pictures attached to previous Yelp reviews but one bite revealed that it was utterly devoid of flavor. Devoid. Wagyu that's never seen seasoning in its life. Fries that were overcooked despite being 40 minutes late. The bolognese was abhorrent. We came here on a Friday night around 7 looking forward to enjoying some pizza and pasta with a group of friends. The hostesses were very kind, but our wait estimate was off by about 15 minutes. No worries, it happens. Upon receiving my Salamino pizza, I noticed the interior was very doughy and borderline undercooked. This can be normal for this style of pizza, but the ingredients didn't taste very fresh, and all around it just wasn't very enjoyable. My friend ordered the burger and asked for it to be cooked medium, but it was served well done on a cold bun. He sent it back and got the bolognese, which was also very underwhelming. My girlfriend's margherita pizza was unable to even be picked up because all of the ingredients would slide off. Not very good, but a little more enjoyable than the Salamino pizza when taken home and re-crisped in the air fryer. Drinks were good - the marg specifically. She had the salmon and I had the fish special. Her salmon was perfect. My fish was good, but would have been better had it been served with a lemon wedge. They offer great wine, pasty and lucky for me some gluten free options as well. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they make great recommendations. My upmost respect for the manager especially Pepe for running such a fantastic restaurant. He always makes sure me and my family are taken care of!
