Peanut butter pie. Tasted like way to much cream cheese
    Bryan W.

This place is fine. Meat and potatoes mainly. I've been to this location twice. The service is always exceptional. The wait staff is always very friendly and present when you need them. My water never got more than half empty before it was filled with fresh cold water. They don't do ice unless requested, but that isn't an issue since they serve it so cold and ofter. The ambiance is typical of a slightly upscale American place. You can smell the wood fire from the kitchen when you walk in My first visit I opted for the burger and fries. The burger was well cooked and seasoned nicely. The fries are okay if you like very thin shoestring style. Thinner than McDonalds and much crispier. I think I prefer something that still has that creamy potato interior that these fries did not have. They are all crunch and get cold quickly. We left feeling happy and satisfied. On my second visit I didn't want something so heavy. I read over the menu and it all looked quite heavy. I opted for the Alex's salad with shrimp add on. The shrimp came out a little over cooked and didn't have much if any seasoning on them. the salad was pretty plain with some basic veg and croutons, nothing to write home about. It felt like airport food. The salad didn't come dressed and all were served on the side. Normally I don't like them leaving it up to the patron to mix their own salad since the table does not come with a mixing bowl and a pair of tongs, but on this occasion I think I dodged a bullet. The blue cheese dressing is pretty strong. I like blue cheese for the most part and usually have a hard time finding a place with bad blue on the menu. This was a very pungent blue that had a sharpness that didn't sit well on my palate. I decided just to salt and pepper my already sad salad. I did my best to enjoy everything, but I just felt like I went to the wrong place for lunch today. My advice is come hungry and wanting meat and potatoes. There isn't much left of the menu if you don't want that. All the dressings were pretty high in fat, so this isn't the place when you are trying to get a beach bod for the summer.

. The deviled eggs were amazing!

Food - great! Get the Deviled Eggs. Rack of Ribs was great, too. Service- great! The Manager came and checked on us twice Ambiance- good. Louder than other J. Alexander's but not too bad

Chocolate cake. Good but a little too decadent for me.

I made a reservation for 5 which I recommend doing. We were seated promptly in a cozy corner booth perfect for our party of 5. Someone quickly came by to take our drink order. Soon after our main Server Whitney came by to introduce herself. She was wonderful and attentive. As for food, their specialty in my opinion is comfort food. I would recommend the Prime Rib, Roasted Chicken, and Chicken tender as entrees. The fries and mashed potatoes they come with are also delicious. They also have the best Asian salad in DFW. Favorite dessert was the key lime pie. The artichokes and calamari apps were also a hit. We enjoyed the overall experience.

My Martini was perfect 1st round , second one was wrong they corrected it immediately! Our food was all delicious, we had the deviled eggs and Hong Kong Shrimp to start both amazing . I had the their daily special of Chicken piccata, done perfectly! My friends had the Salmon and the hamburger, we loved our food!! We shared the chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream absolutely so moist and delicious!! The atmosphere is very nice with a full bar area and cozy booths ! We will be back!! Ambiance is great, good for business lunch or group celebrations. Also fine for casual meal. Its nice and very comfortable, with an upscale vibe Deviled eggs come with candied bacon. The caeser salad is really good, the croutons ate fried. Artichoke has nice char and tarragon remoulade. They even provided warm towels to clean hands after finger foods French fries come with truffle seasoning. They are very much shoe string, skinny fry texture. The burgers are half pound patties. Plenty of LTOP burger toppings. Burger is juicy and bun nicely toasted. The baked potatoes was loaded with sour cream though I wish there were a little more cheese for balance. The potato is nicely salted on the outside Ordered mac with the burger and it came with fries. The waitress remedied that and they comped the Mac because it took about 10min to arrive after everything else There are so many little nice touches to the food that make this so flavorful. The service was also excellent. I would recommend this restaurant and would come back

Saturday night and thank goodness we had a reservations because the place was packed! As you walk in, you are immediately greeted by a hostess team with a smile and a warm hello. The horseshoe bar divides the two dining areas and adds to the fine dining vibe. The feel is a very classy ambience. Service was certainly a high point as no less than four people were waiting and serving us. We never felt rushed and all the attention made us feel wanted and appreciated for coming. Definitely five star service. We began with cocktails. My wife tried the whale flower and enjoyed it. I thought cocktail prices were very reasonable. We began with their special appetizer, the Emerald Coast shrimp. A large plate of perfectly fried large shrimp with a touch of spice. Two different dipping sauces that were both delicious. Perfect start and I highly recommend it. For entrées, we tried the roast chicken and the ribeye Maui. The chicken was a whole half chicken syrup with mashed potatoes. Tender, juicy, and very good. The ribeye was cooked as ordered and tender. It was drenched in sauce more than I expected, but it is noted on the menu. Not sure I would order the ribeye again. It also comes with mashed potatoes, but I swapped for a gigantic baked potato instead. We also shared a side of broccoli which was perfectly cooked. Portions were so large we could not finish.

Walked in & was immediately greeted & seated. The venue was large & nice. For appetizer we had Hong Kong shrimp & then I ordered the chicken breast with lemon au jus, with mashed potatoes & added the lemon broccoli This chicken was decadent & so juicy. Came with three pieces & the side of au jus. So fulfilling & hearty. My mom had the salmon with lemon brocolli. I will say her salmon had to be sent back half way through for not being cooked well. They took care of it swiftly and prepared my mom another one to go, at no inconvenience or charge to self. I give them 5 stars for handling that mistake so professionally. Also the food was amazing and atmosphere was great, our server mat was great. Would definitely give them a return visit

We were so excited to see J. Alexander's arrive in Plano! We've frequented J. Alexander's in other states for many years and always loved it. It's a wonderful add to the north DFW area for mid-tier dining. The food and decor are fantastic! We tried a few dishes we've always loved and they were all still delicious. We started with the spinach queso appetizer, which we highly recommend. We loved this dish years ago and it still tastes the same! We also shared Emerald Coast shrimp, Texas Redfish entree, fries, and Mac & cheese. Portions are huge and again all dishes were prepared wonderfully and delicious. The reason for 4 stars is service delays. Our server was very nice, but our visit was over 2.5 hours. We had a reservation and were seated promptly when we arrived. Then, the delays started. We wanted to blame it on the kinks of being a new restaurant, but some parties arrived after us, ate their meals, and were leaving while we were still waiting for our table to be cleared. Although the food was good, it was a very slowwww experience. I won't bore you with other details, but it was definitely an inexperience/time management issue with our server. At the end of the day, we'll still be back and highly recommend.

Nice well stocked bar with tvs, seats 30 Restaurant max occupancy says 283 but I estimate the total seating is significantly less..may half that. Very crowded for a restaurant location thats only been open 3 days. Competent, attentive, hard working bar staff Well made, reasonably priced old fashioned ($14) They were prompt with the food order. Received in 10 minutes, cooked exactly to the temperature requested

We spotted this new restaurant and decided to give it a try. Two friendly hostesses told us the wait was 30 minutes, but we could get the full menu at the bar. Leo, our bartender/server, was fantastic: friendly, attentive, and on top of everything even with a busy crowd. We like to rate our meals 1 to 10 (10 being amazing). Appetizers came out quickly: deviled eggs - 9, Alex salad - 8, and potato soup - 8.5. The deviled eggs were stuffed over the brim (it made me wonder what they did with all the egg whites!), and the soup tasted fresh and homemade. For dinner, hubby had the Redfish - 8, and I went with the veggie burger - 9. I'm not vegetarian, but I'll often try a black bean burger, and this one, made with black beans, oatmeal, veggies, and soy sauce was full of flavor. My only tiny gripe: it fell apart a bit, so I had to switch to a fork halfway through. We split a key lime pie for dessert (he gave it a 9, I gave it an 8 (Pappadeaux's is better), but it was enjoyable. Several staff members checked in to make sure we were happy. We definitely will be back to explore more of the menu!

I recently checked out the newly opened J. Alexander's in Plano, Texas, and overall it was a really solid experience. The ambience immediately stood out--nice, new, and fresh, with a polished but comfortable vibe that works just as well for a casual dinner as it does for a business or date night. For cocktails, I started with the pineapple margarita, which was refreshing with just the right balance of sweet and tart. My appetizer was the Spicy Hong Kong shrimp and it absolutely delivered--bold flavor, great heat, and a perfect way to kick things off. For the main course, I ordered the salmon with lemon garlic broccoli. Flavor-wise, it was excellent, but I did ask for my salmon well done, and unfortunately it came out undercooked in the center and became very mushy as I ate toward the middle. That said, the manager personally came out, was very apologetic, and handled the situation professionally. Since I had already eaten part of the dish, it wasn't comped, but he sent me home with an additional plate, which I truly appreciated. I also tried the smoke-roasted chicken, and wow--perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and literally falling off the bone. Paired with the smashed potatoes, it was easily one of the highlights of the meal. The server was attentive, friendly, and on point throughout the evening, which really added to the overall experience. Despite the small hiccup with the salmon, the service recovery, staff professionalism, and quality of the food left me very satisfied. I'm definitely excited that they've opened in Plano and look forward to coming back. Four stars is just so to the salmon being undercooked the first time. Great food, great service, and a strong new addition to the Plano dining scene.

Medium rare steak with a loaded braked potato

Stopped by for dinner and everything looked as good as it tasted. The deviled eggs were easily a standout--super creamy filling with just the right amount of seasoning, topped with crispy bacon that added a perfect smoky crunch. Simple dish, but done really well. The steak was cooked beautifully with a great sear on the outside and a tender, juicy center. Paired with a loaded baked potato piled high with sour cream, cheddar, and bacon, it felt like the ultimate comfort meal. We also had a couple of old fashioned cocktails, which were smooth, balanced, and strong in the best way. Overall, great presentation, flavorful food, and a nice atmosphere for a relaxed night out. Definitely the kind of place you come to when you're craving a solid steak dinner and classic sides done right. Would absolutely order the deviled eggs again.

We had a reservation, which is recommended because the restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night in May. We opted to sit on the patio because the weather was gorgeous. I am not sure if the patio is climate controlled in the summer or not. But on that night we were there, the weather was mild so it was very pleasant. They have happy hour on Saturdays so I started with an IPA on tap and the wife had a Prosecco, also for happy hour prices. This is a tapas restaurant so I will try to remember all that we had. Manchego cheese board: excellent. The crisps and jam were perfect with the cheese. Potato torilla: excellent. The flavors melded very well and it was very tasty. It's filling so keep that in mind. Ceviche de jalapeno: excellent. Not too spicy, the shrimp and seafood was fresh with no fishy smell. The plantains were cooked perfectly, not greasy. Brisket on crostini: excellent. Forget the name but they are a winner. Brisket is good quality and the flavors come together nicely. Chicken skewer: excellent. They smartly use chicken thighs so the meat is juicy and tender. Tuna tartare: good. It actually was my least favorite. The quality was very good but it did not have much flavor. I needed some heat, some acid, something to give it a kick. We were absolutely stuffed and did not try dessert. Our server Marcellus was excellent. Very helpful and pleasant throughout. He never disappeared for too long. Overall, we had a great meal and will undoubtedly return here again.
