REVIEW UPDATE 2/2/24: Partner and I made it back here tonight and the service was good, the food amazing and everything was quick and easy. By far an improvement and we will be back! The food was amazingly good--one of the best italian places I've had in a while. Our service was subpar. We were a group of 5 people all around the age of 23-24, and it seemed like our server just assumed that made all his shortcomings okay because he tried to act kind of bro-like with us. There were multiple periods of time where we were left alone for anywhere from 10 minutes to 40. It took us a LONG time to get our food even though we were one of maybe 4 parties in the restaurant. One friend got told they were out of something, ordered something else, and the waiter went, "that's a joke, right?" and told him they were out of that too. His entree came out almost a full 30-40 minutes after the rest of ours so he just packed it up to-go. Only a halfhearted apology that everything was taking so long and no type of compensation. The food was good enough that I would go back to try again since partner and I live in the area. But i really hope we don't get this guy as our server again. read more

Apart from the service and neatness of the restaurant, none of the food was good and its so pricey. We got the brushetta, chicken pasta, ciba ravioli, pizza. The mussels had no flavor. Everything was just ok and made it worse when it was priced so high. The mule was a good drink. read more

On Valentine's Day, they overbooked and were unable to honor any reservations when we arrived 20 minutes before our 7:30 reservation. They had no one at the hostess stand, no one at the bar, and no manager explaining what was going on. They even took the phone off the hook so they wouldn't have to deal with the dozens of people they left standing outside on a rainy cold night and unable to accommodate a reservation made a week earlier. When they realized they had an overbooking problem, they could have started calling or texting people to warn them their reservation would not be honored. That would have been the conscientious, professional thing to do so that we might have been able to make alternative arrangements on a busy valentine's day. But that's not what Cibo Cucina Italiana's management did. They just ignored the problem and allowed their customer's to arrive unaware and out of luck. Stopped by Cibo Cucina with my husband and and in-laws for a family lunch last month. It was pretty empty when we went on Saturday around noon but a few other parties had come in by the time we finished eating. The space is pretty huge and there's an outdoor patio that seems nice but we sat inside because we had a baby with us. Our group ordered family style and split several apps and entrees. The mussels were recommended by our server but were just okay -- we also found three closed mussels, but they were really apologetic and came out with some hot and fresh ones that were better. The bone marrow was also just okay, but we did really enjoy the meatballs. All the pastas we tried were really tasty! My favorite was probably the spicy vodka rigatoni, but the truffle chicken tagliatelle and shrimp scampi were also excellent. Shrimp were huge and very well cooked. Veal marsala came in a great portion size. The pizza we got was also just okay, but I think it was because we got one that didn't have a ton of cheese so it felt like just eating bread and toppings. Probably wouldn't be our first choice for Italian food in Plano, but a solid spot for pasta nonetheless. read more

We ordered Cibo to go and thought it was decent. I had the Cibo Rigatoni (subbed spaghetti) along with the Mussels in White Wine Sauce. Both were good but on the saltier side. I had the pleasure of returning to Cibo Cucina for lunch, and I have to say that the entire experience was nothing short of spectacular. Their new manager Manuel was so lovely & welcoming. Our server was very attentive & friendly, and of course, as always, the food was DELICIOUS. Everything we tried: Bruschetta: soooo refreshing! Their house served bread is also fantastic. Rigatoni with meatballs: Packed with flavor -- the meatballs are a MUST! Seabass: This was the star of the show. The risotto was phenomenal. Perfectly creamy & the fish was cooked to perfection. Dessert: Crème Bru Le: The granulated sugar top was thick, and the fruit was fresh. Limoncello Cheesecake: this was the dessert winner! The crust, the cake itself, everything was to die for. All in all, you cannot go wrong with any of the items on their menu. You can really tell the ingredients are fresh. PRO tip: if it's nice outside, ask to sit on the patio! This is really the Turkish Cafe & Lounge posing as an Italian restaurant. They may have good Mediterranean food, but don't go here looking for Italian food. The bread served with your Italian food is Turkish bread, not garlic bread with olive oil. The caesar salad was not high quality. Everything was too expensive and then surprisingly, a 20% tip was automatically added for 3 diners. Their invoice is confusing so you don't understand it. The credit card machine screen stated 2%, 3% & 4% tip. Hum?? I went because of the good reviews, but maybe the restaurant was sold to the Turkish Cafe. I had Spaghetti Bolognese and it was good. We came here for Valentine's Day with a reservation and had an extremely disappointing experience. No waiter came to greet us, offer water, or even acknowledge our table for the first hour. We only received service after another customer went up to the bartender to ask for help -- I then had to do the same just to get water. He took our order, and we waited another hour and a half for our food. The entire restaurant felt disorganized. Waiters were walking around but seemed to be ignoring customers. I asked for napkins twice and a blonde waitress completely ignored me. Several tables around us were also waiting for menus and water, and some customers ended up leaving. The food finally arrived cold and tasted very underwhelming. It was shocking to see such poor service at a place with good reviews. This experience completely ruined our Valentine's Day. The server came over and started telling us items on the menu that were "not" available. Not just a couple of things, but large sections on the page. He claimed the owner was in the process of changing the menu. It just seemed so unprofessional. The menu pages could be easily removed. Why make the customer and employees endure this? Good place and surprisingly halal (for those who look for that). I don't think I've seen a halal Italian place before. The restaurant itself is trendy and great for groups or date night. This is soooooo good. It's beautiful and Delicious! Look at the basil leaf -- it's see-through and crisp. When I mentioned it, the server insisted it was veal--an odd choice, since anyone who's eaten both can tell the difference. That really soured the meal. My daughter and mother‑in‑law had chicken Caesar salads, which were fine but nothing to rave about. My husband's veal parmesan was just okay, and my father‑in‑law's Cibo rigatoni was average as well. The service here is beyond amazing! The chef came out and checked in on how we were enjoying the food, the waiter came out and checked in on us individually and as a collective group, the attention to everything was so sweet! The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious and had good lighting! The food is DELICIOUS! So yummy!! I got the gnocchi with cheese and you can tell they use quality ingredients and everything tastes beyond amazing, I can't recommend this place enough!! First the good...the food was very good, well-prepared and well-presented. We went for lunch to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was barely occupied, two tables out of 24. We stood at the reception for several minutes until the Chef acknowledged us and offered us a seat. The waitress came a few minutes later and took drink orders. Ok so far...she returned for meal orders and that seemed to go well...I ordered a Caesar Salad prior to the meal...it arrived with the meal...ok, but my order of Gnocchi Pesto was supposed to include shrimp...once we were able to summon the waitress back to the table, she blamed the kitchen for not making the shrimp. Nonetheless, shrimp were added and we enjoyed the flavors. The Caesar Salad was very good and fresh, with great croutons. The Pesto Gnocchi was very good once the shrimp were added, if a little too heavy on the Pesto, the Rigatoni, Alfredo and Pizza were all properly cooked and tasty. On food alone this is 4.5 stars. Unfortunately, the service took away from the experience. Once we ordered, the waitress took a seat at the bar and chatted up another worker, we had to call her over a couple of times. Once we were done eating we sat a while waiting for her to return and perhaps offer coffee and dessert...ultimately she just came with the POS terminal to ask for payment. So, instead of ordering cannolis and limoncello cheese cake along with some espresso, we just paid the bill. On the way out we were asked how it was and I informed the Chef we would have opted for dessert and coffees but the waitress seemed in a hurry to close us out. I will try again during dinner hours and see if the service was just a lunchtime thing. The service can make or break a dining experience, and even if the food is great, poor service overshadows and degrades the overall experience. read more

Had been looking at this place on Yelp for months before I finally decided to give a shot. Came in and sat at the bar. The general manager, Manuel, was an amazing host. He had many recommendations and was very warm and attentive. The food was spectacular. I had the seafood pasta with the white wine sauce and it was some of the best I've ever had - honestly. The the delicious bread with the olive oil and balsamic on the side was absolutely addictive. The house salad my husband said was unlike any other salad he has ever tasted. It had fresh basil in it, came dressed already, and the dressing was light but powerful enough to support the salad. (Everything that I am about to list was impeccably seasoned. No salt or pepper needed.) We also ordered mussels in a garlic white wine sauce as an appetizer. A very pleasant local spot tucked in the corner of a strip mall. We felt comfortable yet in a slightly upscale manner. We had 3 pasta dishes and all we worthy of a return visit. The penne in a dish of mushrooms, pancetta and vodka sauce wa perfectly cooked- seldom what you find- and the thick sauce was delicious. The lasagna was very generous portion and the red sauce was different seasoning than the other red sauce - not a kitchen with one sauce for each shape of pasta. I've been here several times and the food and service has been excellent. Well not anymore! First I ordered iced tea (which is on their menu) and was told "we don't have any iced tea". I noticed that the menu has changed and the prices are substantially higher now. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. For $21, they served me plain spaghetti with sauce on top, the way a 12 year old would make it. I have never seen spaghetti served this way in a restaurant, including the last few times I went here. It was terrible. How you manage to screw up spaghetti, I can't figure out. The waiter never checked back on us until long after we were done. No drink refills. Really lovely interior vibes. The feel was just right for week night Italian dinner. Welcoming greeting- warm hellos. Beautiful decor. While waiting for a friend, a nice young lady greeted me- water was served and when my friend arrived bread and oil were brought to the table- Starter: the bread and oil were nice- but just a little revision could be made on ten alder- it's not water friendly and does not showcase the bread and oil- we took it out of the basket and placed it on the table to be able to access and enjoy it. Maybe the bread could come sliced so there are a couple pieces for each person. The pup was a good but the seasoning not incorporating well even after mixing. Salads: delicious and a good portion for a side salad. We chose the Caesar. Calamari: small for the price and too chewy. Needed to be more crisp. It did catch in my throat s couple of times. Pizza: the crust was a little too crispy for me. Maybe needed some more sauce. Chicken Marsala/ huge portion and very very flavorful. We had a great time- really nice people. I did wish there were water bottles in the tables because after we paid we hung out for a bit and we needed a little more water but I did ask someone later. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant randomly on a Tuesday. Showed up at 6:30pm and it was mostly empty but by 7pm, it was getting full. Service was great. Both hostess and waiter were sweet and attentive. Food was amazing and portion sizes are very sufficient. We ordered the seafood spaghetti with white wine sauce, wagyu beef carpaccio, and prosciutto and funghi pizza. Everything was so light - didn't make you feel so overly stuffed and gluttonous afterwards. Some dishes don't come with meat and there is an extra charge for protein for some pasta dishes. So my husband and I were playing roll the "where-are-we-going-to-eat" dice and landed on pasta and I am so glad we did. We stumbled on this fairly new place and loved the ambiance and menu from the website. Upon arrival it was as pictured and we were greeted by Giovanni. He was also our server. He was outstanding. He promptly took our orders for appetizers and brought back bread with herbs and olive oil for dipping. It was really good. Butttttt the Calamari and mussels were outstanding. We were so excited to get our food lol. We ordered two pasta dishes and they were just as amazing. They pasta was al dente. It reminded me of Italy. Please please go. You will not be disappointed. The food was very good they have plenty of options in Pastas and the classic Italian American dishes. They seemed a little bit short staffed so, patience might be required. Armando and Salvador were the true standouts on this visit. Upon entering, my Mom and I were greeted by these two young men, shown to our table, seated, handed Menus, and given water. They have a new drink menu consisting of cocktails and mocktails which we will need to try on our next visit. The tender, yet firm and ideal al dente perfectly balanced texture with just the right amount of chew, and portions of succulent shrimp, mussels, and calamari in a light, delicate, magical, delectable white wine lemon sauce made for a delicious meal reminiscent of farm-to-table dining in Tuscany. My Mom enjoyed the Margherita Pizza - it arrived hot and fresh out of the oven and straight to the table. From the texture, chew, and dough/crust ratio with pops of rich mozzarella, the acidity of the crushed tomatoes, and fresh basil right up to the edge, you cannot go wrong with either of these two dishes. The flavor was a combination of creaminess and acidity and was giving us authentic Neapolitan Vibes from start to finish. To conclude our meal, we decided on the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake. It is a perfect size for 2 to share and is made fresh in-house! You can certainly tell the difference as it is not very sweet and made with real/high-quality ingredients. Most noteworthy are the cream cheese and melted butter for texture, and graham cracker crust for the perfect bite. What truly bothers me are filterless fellow judgmental patrons - the ones who seem to get pleasure (whether they take-out or dine-in)out of complaining, denigrating and/or trashing a business as they describe the lack of service, food quality, or that no one acknowledged them when they entered and begin recalling events that most likely never happened and spewing untrue nonsense which is not accurate or at all reflective of their dining experience. I'm still not sure I understand some of the low reviews on this establishment, but then again, you can't please everyone and it is possible that some Yelpers and Googlers clearly either don't have a discerning palate or truthfully don't know authentic Italian Cuisine or how it should taste.‍ read more

I was really craving Italian and stumbled up this spot tucked away in a seemingly unassuming strip mall. If I'm being honest the start to my dining experience was rocky to put it nicely. I was placed near the entrance and whenever the door was opened a cold draft would come by. When my server came I felt rushed and like I was forced to order my entire meal. And when my wine came I noticed my glass was filthy. But everything fixed itself once the salad came. The ingredients were fresh and had great flavor. The chefs pasta was good and the shrimp was a good addition but it can easily be shared and not necessarily needing an extra protein. I caved and got the tiramisu and it was good.
