We ventured to North Italia for a birthday dinner! First things, first... definitely get a reservation regardless of what day of the week it may be! We went on a Thursday and without a reservation there was a 45 minute wait. Luckily we planned ahead and didn't have to wait at all! We started off the night with the White Truffle Garlic Bread which was 10/10! The truffle butter is soft and decadent enough to want to lick off the plate. I had the Chicken Parm while my husband had the Sunday Night Lasagna. Both were equally as delicious and with generous portions! We left with full bellies and plenty of leftovers. The food was delicious! The ambiance was great! We were disappointed that they were out of Moscato at we went for that wine to have with our meal. We needed to ask for water refills, seemed like maybe short in serving staff. There were also terrible biting flies in the outdoor patio,m. I typically bring out of town guests, and have many luncheons and dinners at this location. This trip to North Italia has been such a disappointment that I think I'm taking it off the go-to list of places going forward. This time o brought my teenage son for a late lunch, 1:15pm. Our server greeted us, brought my son a drink and myself a tea and we ordered the meatballs as an appetizer. Everything was good till that point. The meatballs were fabulous as always. I then ordered the artichoke and my son ordered the braised short rib pasta dish. My artichoke came out very hard very undercooked and I had to send it back and asked if they can put it on the grill for a bit longer. When our server returned not with the artichoke, I unfortunately also had to tell her that there was a hair found inside my son's dish, and I gave it to her on one of our linen napkins and asked for a new napkin. I have worked in the Restaurant industry for many years. I understand how things work, however, with the restaurant almost being empty I still was waiting on my artichoke. My son was still hungry, so we ordered a Margherita pizza. We ended up getting the pizza before the artichoke ever showed up. I never received the linen napkin while eating the pizza and had to flag down the busset to bring me over in napkin. The artichoke finally appear 20 minutes later. By then, I told her I didn't want it anymore. And at that point, I asked to speak to a manager. I explained everything to her, she knew about the artichoke she did not know about the hair in the food. Managers should know about these things. She made adjustments to my check, basically removing my son's dish and she prepared a new one and sent it home with us. But instead of boxing up the artichoke that they finally brought out they toss that in the trash, I'm guessing. Remove that from my bill but still gave me a bill for $46. With all of that the bill should've either been washed out completely, or they could've at least sent the artichoke home with us I don't eat much carbs so I had 1.5 slices of the pizza. And I went home unsatisfied. I ended up having to go to Starbucks to get a coffee to fill me up. The service should've not been this way. There was barely anybody in the restaurant. The food should've come out at a timely manner, if hair was found in my food a manager should've already come to my table, and they should've comped the entire meal or at least not throw away half the meal Extremely disappointing, and at this point, I feel that there are better restaurants that I can go to with friends and out-of-town guests. This beautiful restaurant is located in Legacy West, Plano's upscale shopping district. It is gorgeous inside and the service is warm and welcoming. They specialize in authentic Italian food. They are known for their homemade dough for both their pastas and pizza. My grandchildren loved their Margarita pizza. It looked yummy. We got a red sauce spaghetti with meatballs that was out of this world amazing. The homemade pasta soaked up the sauce and it was so full of flavor. The white sauce pasta had spinach, pine nuts, mushrooms, and chicken. It was very good. I ordered an antipasto salad that was huge. It was phenomenal. It was packed full of Italian meats, cheeses, cucumbers, pickled onions, and olives. It was an absolute delight. Service was on point. When you are eating out with two small children, it can be challenging and our server handled everything with kindness, expertise, and grace. Thank you. I haven't made a food review in YEARS so hopefully this reaches out to the person I intend to send this message to. My family and I occasionally go to North Italia to hit our Italian food cravings or when family out of town visits. Every time I head to the one in Legacy I know we will always eat well. This time a few of my cousins from Cali visited, so us TX cousins had to order our usual for them to try- the White Garlic Truffle Bread and Calamari and yes they did like the appetizers, food, ambiance (the whole shebang). Things didn't go unnoticed with me when we went this time this past Tuesday (a summer weekday). Our server was Michael and I want to give a proper shoutout to him for caring for our table. He would switch out our plates and utensils (which I didn't notice if previously the servers/waiters did that before and he just did so swiftly too) as well as he would make sure we were comfortable the entirety of our time there. What stood out to me was I even stated I share a menu item with one of my cousins (unrelated note: the Squid Ink Tonarelli is fragrantly spicy and good every time for me it's so good highly recommend btw) and he put in word to put the pasta into two bowls so it would be convenient for us to share. I can tell he was a detail oriented type of person (or perhaps the place was under new management) but regardless I just wanted to properly thank Michael with this review. One more thing I noticed was at the end of our lunch the staff went towards the kitchen due to what I can only assume a machine malfunction or were understaffed in the back so both the servers/waiters/staff were teaming up to fix the issue at hand. It took time and we left as they continued to fixing. So just to say with all that going on and on top of it all handling it with class and professionally did reach to me. The zucca chips were a nice mix of crispy and soft (I have ordered this many times) Calamari fritti was served with marinara and delicious calabrian aioli (I make this at home and their version doesn't skimp out on the pepper, which is hard to find) Italian cobb had fantastic oregano vinaigrette and incredibly fresh pepperoncini. All around fresh ingredients (sopressatta, heirloom tomato) Spicy meatball pizza wasn't too spicy but hearty and full of fresh ricotta which was a nice texture difference with the meatball La spezia and Pina no-lada were simple non-alcoholic drinks, nothing too crazy. A nice refresher The bombolini donuts took everything home - plenty of cold lemon curd to go with the warm blueberry compote inside the Italian donut. Brookie sundae was delicious, I did not expect the richness of the coffee to mix so well with the whip cream, vanilla and pecan. I really wanted to LOVE North Italia. I have driven past it many times. I finally made it a point to stop in for lunch. The experience fell a bit short for me with the food. Let me start with the positives. AMBIANCE is lovely and I love the fresh floral decor. It's a lively and vibrant space. The vibe feels happy and comfortable. I love the openness and giant booths. It's clean and cozy. The BIG bar area is a nice touch. Also the indoor dining patio seating is great. SERVICE was great my waitress was pleasant, polite and professional. FOOD was a bit disappointing for me. The Pig pizza looked amazing. It tasted fresh and was piping hot. However, I think all the ingredients make it a bit salty. My palate wasn't feeling it. The Bolognese Pasta also looked fantastic. However, the meat sauce was lacking in flavor and seasoning. For this to be the house specialty it was lacking in taste. It was decent, but not great. Overall it wasn't all bad. The service and ambiance were great. I appreciated a new experience. I'm just not sure about the quality and taste of the food. We had excellent service at North Italia and the atmosphere was excellent; unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the expectations. We started with the calamari fritti. Both of the sauces were delicious - I really enjoyed the spicy Calabrian aioli. I found the calamari though to be a bit soft and chewy and it could have used a harder fry to make it crispy. For entrees, we shared the chicken Parmesan, spicy rigatoni vodka and the braised short rib Marsala. The chicken itself was flavorful and crispy, but the rigatoni that came with it was under seasoned and flavorless. The spicy rigatoni vodka had great flavor, but had very little sausage or pancetta. The standout protein was the short rib. It was packed with flavor and beyond tender. The accompanying risotto and Brussels sprouts felt like an under seasoned, afterthought though. Overall, I'd come back and try more of the menu, but was disappointed in the execution of the dishes - maybe at a different location. read more

The food was fresh, flavorful, and did not disappoint. Service here exceeded expectations. Our server Anthony was energetic and enthusiastic, offering recommendations and going above and beyond. My husband and I are traditionally huge fans of North Italia. My favorite is their salmon that's made with pesto sauce and pine nuts. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive. I celebrated my birthday here a month ago where Brandon was our server and he was truly amazing. He made my birthday so special that both myself and my husband left with a huge smile on our faces. We came here again today to celebrate my husband's birthday Dominique our server was also very kind. Had dinner here. We tried the garlic bread, which came with some cream cheese as a dip. This was fantastic! For dinner I had the chicken parm because they told me that popular and recommended. Not a fan of it It was a chicken breast covered with some tomatoes and cheese, but not a sauce. Then it had a side of rigatoni and this was cooked with barely any sauce, which was a little runny. We love North Italia, generally! This location just simply isn't my fave. They don't have the best patio area or the best views. The ambience is mid - not horrible just average. More than anything, we had awful service. The table we were seated at was also right next to where everyone was waiting for theirs. Made me very nervous and uncomfortable. Our waitress didn't check on us often, and got our order wrong. We had to wait a very long time due to the error, and were given nothing to make up for it. Wow this place is incredible! Highlight dishes for me were the bolognese which is their house specialty that's served on pappardelle and also the white truffle garlic bread is a must! It came highly recommended and I totally see why. The truffle flavor isn't too strong or overpowering. Also the calamari is very good! I especially enjoyed the breading style which isn't that hard to find anymore - it's super crispy and similar to breading on some onion rings. Overall all the dishes were great. What a great Italian spot in Legacy West -- delicious food and lovely ambiance! My fiance and I visited this restaurant for the first time earlier this year with two friends (who have been before and loved it). We had a reservation on a Sunday night and were seated just a few minutes after we arrived. The four of us shared the burrata appetizer which was amazing; the bread was fantastic and the burrata along with all the fixings on top worked together perfectly. For entrees, my fiance and I decided to split the bolognese and the hot honey & smoked prosciutto pizza. Both of these items were phenomenal and while the bolognese was very tasty, I have to give major props to the pizza! I am always a big fan of hot honey on pizza and this one was really good in pairing the hot honey with the prosciutto, plus the arugula on top added some nice freshness to it all.
