Came to Tavira fully expecting to just nibble on bread and drink wine (veggie options seemed unlikely), but wow--I was wrong in the best way. The Penne Vegetarianas was chef's kiss--loaded with flavor, sun-dried tomatoes, and olives. Then the server casually drops, "Want to try a seasonal beet salad that's off-menu?" Uh, yes please. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, the vibe here is classy without being stuffy--dim lighting, live music in the background, and the kind of place where you feel like you should've worn nicer shoes but no one makes you feel bad about it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was super chill and really went out of their way to take care of us. Plant-based folks: don't sleep on this place. It's fancy, friendly, and actually veggie-friendly too!

This was an amazing find! Fantastic food and service. Make sure to true the Nata pie. It was a bit hard to find, but totally worth it.

After coming to this restaurant, I had a real interest in visiting Portugal. Booked a ticket 2 weeks later. Imagine the impact a restaurant needs to have in order to have a person curious enough to visit a Country! Make sure to try the Nata pie.

Tavira is a well-kept secret. While it may seem underrated because it's not hip and new, the two times I've visited, this Portuguese restaurant has been busy. It's tucked away into the ground floor of an office building. There is plenty of parking, which is appreciated. They are open for lunch and dinner, which is worth keeping in mind. Service is excellent. Servers are trained to serve properly. Also, I hadn't visited in months, and one of the servers, Horis, remembered me, which is nice. They take care of their customers here. The ambiance isn't quite that of a Massachusetts Portuguese restaurant, but Tavira does embody an old-world feel. Food is also excellent. I've had the garlic shrimp, pasteis de bacalhau, piri-piri chicken, suckling pig special, lamb shank special, and the pistachio and chocolate lover's cakes. Everything has been delicious. The roast suckling pig is the standout and you must order that if they have it on special. I'm looking forward to returning to try the pork shank and cod dishes. Presentation of all dishes is beautiful. The wine list is nice, especially as I love Portuguese wine. If you are dining with companions, I highly recommend a bottle. They do not have a cocktail list but do have a full bar. On Friday nights, there is live music, which is appreciated. While this restaurant might be as close as I can get to the city of Tavira for the time being, I'll take it. The amazing food and service ensures Tavira will be on my regular rotation, and it should be added to yours as well.

It is a $24.95 flat price offering an appetizer, entree and dessert for that price. (Only available Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 5-6:30 pm). There were about 6 choices each for appetizers and entrees and 3 for dessert. My companion had a mussel appetizer and I had French Onion soup. My soup was a great example of the classic preparation. Bubbly and browned cheese over a deeply flavorful broth of onions and a slice of French bread. My companion loved the mussels. As to the entree I had what was called Beef Diane, a twist on the classic Steak Diane. It consisted of tips of filet in a delicious gravy flavored with cognac. My companion had Rainbow Trout and was very happy with it. For dessert we both had cheesecake with strawberry sauce. A good example of a New York style cheesecake. Both entrees were served with well cooked mixed vegetables. The portions were not a scaled down size but normal size. The meal comes with fresh baked toasted bread served warm. Delicious. The service was attentive which was to be expected because there were only 3 tables occupied. A complimentary shot of a what I think was kahlua was served at the end of the meal. The atmosphere is lots of dark wood and a classic bar. Great food and a great experience. Don't pass up this great value!!

They tried to appease the pair of diners next to us with free shots of something, but nothing for us because we went an acquaintance and his sister who are regulars, so they knew it didn't matter if we were happy or not. Food was terrible. I had the rainbow trout which seemed like it might have come frozen. Topped with dull brown gravy and canned mushrooms. Got a large dollop of bland mashed potatoes with it and a few green beans. TLDR: this place is for senior citizens who take comfort in familiar cafeteria level food. I'm perplexed how it's in business with high ratings. I've come here numerous times because the person I know (who's about 25 years my senior) comes here every Friday night.

You have a choice between AYCE or by the pound. I know last time I came I got AYCE but honestly I don't eat that much anymore, so by the pound is more cost effective for me. There also are two different prices based on whether you want BBQ + sushi with your buffet. (Sushi??? I'll stick to BBQ when going Brazilian.) I tried to sample small amounts of the dishes on the buffet and then got some picanha and another steak cut (maminha). Both BBQ cuts were very good - I liked the maminha more. (Fraldihna is my usual favorite, and it's kind of similar to the maminha.). They had a chicken with capers that was probably my favorite of the buffet dishes. The stroghanoff wasn't bad. Some of the other meat dishes on the buffet were a bit dry. I got a mystery empanada which turned out to be guava & cheese, if it had been warmed it would have been better. I love guava, but there was just a little small rectangle of guava paste in the very center; probably 80% of the empanada had no filling. Similarly, the cheese bread balls were cold and hard. Those need to be right out of the oven to be worth it. It's a shame, they probably were good when they were first made but they weren't by the time I got to them. The potato salad was ok but the balance of mayo to potato & other veg was off (too much mayo). I had some fresh fruit too. All in all, I'd definitely come back (I love the steak!) but I'd focus on the things I know are good rather than trying a lot of things.

There were two options $40 menu and $55 menu, took a picture of the $40 menu but we choose the $55 options for 'upgraded/ premier' options . It actually came up to $71 with included gratuity. Had I known this I would've ordered off the regular menu because the apps and dessert were not that amazing. And unfortunately, the dessert was the best part. Even though it was a poor presentation plating wise. Seemed like the way I'd serve it to myself at home, not like a chef would. Unfortunately, they were unable to accommodate dietary restrictions to any degree. When we asked for just fruit instead of anything with dairy for dessert, they said there was nothing that could be done. All desserts had dairy. However, both desserts came out with a lot of strawberries, so it was strange that they could not be flexible on that. Second, both main courses were actually small in terms of the meat. For my grilled meat, they were two bite-size pieces of steak, four dry pieces of chicken breast and two small pieces of sausage. The rice and beans were the best part. I don't know if I would return based on the restaurant week experience . The server was nice at least. And the restaurant was large. A lot of large groups were able to walk in and be seated. They had a paper covering over the table cloth so it took some of the 'classy' ambience away.

Service was great and attentive throughout with multiple waiters serving our table and the space is beautiful and cozy. It wasn't too crowded around 5:30 when we came and wasnt too busy overall. We left a little before 8 and it never got too loud or too crowded. I think walking in without a reservation would be fairly easy. They have a great cocktail list and I really enjoyed mine! It was a unique cherry and almond flavored drink while my friend went for a cucumber type drink. Both great. We shared 4 tapas which were surprisingly quite large and ended up being plenty for the both of us. We did patatas bravas, mushroom croquettes, fried manchego, and calamari. The tapas were good/average but nothing to rave about. Our bill came to about $120 which is probably about standard now but felt overpriced for what we got. They do a 20% service charge with 5% being operational and only 15% going to staff. Not my favorite...I dont mind a service charge but burying an operational charge into it made us confused on whether the expectation was to still tip or not. I wish restaurants were more transparent about this. I wouldn't come back for a full dinner but drinks were nice and service was great so I'd consider spotting in for a happy hour if in the area. Worth a try overall. I hope they consider giving their servers the full 20% of the service charge. 5% for operations should really be baked into the prices or otherwise listed separately.

The decor inside was beautiful and my favorite color, green. The pictures on the wall and the colorful drapes with wood accents made it very spanish and kund of historical lookimg. The food was amazing! We ordered the octopus off the main menu and 2 items off a June experice menu. The octopus tasted smoked to me. I ordered because based on what I read about the restaurant I felt they would do it well.. and they did! The potatoes needed a touch of salt for us, but we are salt people. The Croquetas were so creamy and delicious with the garlic shrimp. The cream cheese on the toast set off the flavors of the carleized onions and whisky reduction pork. The coup de grâce was the Cheesecake desset. It was warm and a combo of airy and dense. The granny smith apples on the side were tart and pallet clensing. So good! We also received shirtbread cookies and a chocolate cookie thing that were delicious! The prices are on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. Great place for sharung and date night.

They sell Brazilian style food, desserts, snacks, and drinks. We visited twice and tried 7 items. 1) Risoles de Presunto e Queijo Ham and cheese risole is the English name. It looked like an empanada. It was deep-fried and had a crispy exterior that was coated with breadcrumbs. It was thick and slightly gooey on the inside. The filling was chopped ham and white cheese. It was savory and slightly salty with a mild blend of salt, pepper, and herbs. Reheat them in an air fryer or oven. Microwaving or deep-frying will ruin the texture and taste. The exterior was tastier than an empanada, but it was average overall. 2) Pastel de Carne com Ovos Beef and eggs pastel is the English name. It was rectangular and had a crispy, thin dough wrap like Chinese spring rolls. It was filled with seasoned ground beef and chopped hard-boiled egg. The beef was a little dry and crumbly. It looked and tasted like it was boiled. The beef flavor was weak with no savoriness! The seasoning had flavors of onion, garlic, and salt. It was so basic! Edible and forgettable. 3) Rocambole Goiabada Guava roll cake is the English name. Rocambole is a Brazilian sponge roll cake made with eggs, flour, sugar, and butter. Goiabada is paste made of red guava and sugar. It was the filling in the cake. The flavor was like slightly sweet strawberry and pear with a hint of tartness. The cake was light and fluffy with an egg yolk flavor. A great dessert if you're looking for a light and fruity cake with modest sweetness. 4) Sonho The name means dream in Portuguese. It is a doughnut made with flour, sugar, milk, eggs, and butter. The doughnut was breadlike with a crisp exterior and plain taste. It had a pastry cream filling that was thick, smooth, and creamy with flavors of vanilla, sweetened condensed milk, and egg yolk. The plain bread wasn't noticeable because there was lots of filling. It's a dream dessert for lovers of sweet pastry cream. 5) Pudim de Leite The name means milk pudding in Portuguese. Brazilian caramel flan is the English name. It was sweet with a strong flavor of caramel, a modest flavor of milk, and weak flavors of condensed milk and egg yolk. It was good, but the weak flavors and lack of vanilla kept it from being great. 6) Churro It was 10 inches long, deep-fried, and covered with lots of cinnamon sugar. It was filled with dulce de leche. The outside was crisp, and the inside was soft, moist, and slightly chewy. The filling had a milky flavor with light notes of caramel. It was a great match to the strong sweetness and spicy cinnamon on the exterior. This is how a churro should be made! 7) Brazilian Hot Dog It had a half smoke hot dog, diced onions, bacon, and mayonnaise topped with Brazilian potato sticks in a french roll. The hot dog was jumbo sized and oily. It was savory and well seasoned with a firm texture that was slightly chewy. The bacon was thick, crispy, and savory with the right amount of salt. The potato sticks were crispy and had a light flavor of fried potatoes with no salt. Everything worked well together to make this flavorful and extremely savory. My only wish is that they add a seasoned tomato sauce. If you love hot dogs, give this a try! The service was polite and attentive. The dining area and restrooms were relatively clean. There were 3 tables and 24 chairs. They had a small buffet table with 15 items and bottles of sauces. The items included 5 entrees, rice, sides, and salads. The buffet costs $10.50 per pound. They are in a shopping center with free parking. This is a casual place with some good Brazilian style desserts, bread, food, and packaged goods along with great churros. They are worth a visit if you're in the area.

When I asked her to show some respect to elders (and injured elders at that), she refused to serve us and take our money. What kind of cashier speaks ill to their customers and refuses to take their money!? I feel really badly for the owner of Brazilian Bakery, because he hired a cashier who refuses to sell to his customer. She literally turned our $30 away. And only because I asked her to show some respect to my elderly mother. I was flabbergasted! I asked what is the problem? She said, "The only problem here is your annoying, stupid mother." Inside I wanted to punch her in the face, but because I have class and was raised better, I told her that she is what she called my mother! I promised her that I will inform her manager and other patrons about her awful customer service and disrespect. If you are Brazilian and crave Brazilian food, go to "By Brazil" or the cafe around the corner (Americas). I ordered a variety of tapas including the octopus, cod fritters, crispy chicken wings, beef empanadas, and she ordered the seafood paella and a house salad. My friend absolutely loved the paella. My personal favorites were the chicken wings and the octopus; both were flavorful and well-prepared. Service was friendly, and our server checked in on us frequently, though there were a few hiccups. My chicken wings were initially forgotten, I was given another table's check, and I was accidentally charged twice for the wings. I called the next day, and Wendall, the general manager, promptly handled the refund, which I appreciated. Despite a few minor oversights, we had an enjoyable experience overall. The staff was especially kind. My friend asked a couple of team members to take photos for us, and they were more than happy to help, which added a nice personal touch to the evening.
