I don't know where to begin with this review, but here it goes... Our visit to Taxco yesterday evening was so disappointing :( It was Cinco de Mayo, and it's worth noting we've celebrated there on this holiday in previous years. Also worth noting that we have loved the food here and this review is strictly about CUSTOMER SERVICE! Our wait to get a table wasn't long. We were seated at a table in the corner on the outdoor patio after 10 minutes. It took about 10-15 minutes for a staff member to recognize us seated there, and he brought over some chips and salsa. Then we waited another 10-15 minutes to get some waters, which we had to ask another staff member for. Then after another 10-15 minutes we had to stop and ask again if anyone was going to take our order, they said someone will be with us shortly. After waiting another 10-15 minutes we stopped another staff member and asked if they could take our drink and food order because we've been waiting for a while, so they did. While waiting for another 30 minutes, we saw other customers who got waited on promptly after being seated after us, and who ended up getting their orders (bar drinks & food) before us. When there was still no food or drinks at our table after this 1-2 hour ordeal, we decided to leave. We walked up to the front to tell the hostess, and also asked for a manager to tell them about our situation...and that's when everything went downhill for us. The manager was VERY RUDE when talking with her and kept using a busy 'holiday' as an excuse. We explained we were one of their weekly and long time customers. The guy who runs the bar practically knows my name and I don't even have to say anything when I pick up orders because he recognizes me immediately. He even recognizes my voice when I call in an order, and notices when I haven't been at the restaurant for more than a week. Anyway, we calmly told the manager about our experience seeing others get waited on promptly...they were picking and choosing who to serve. She didn't care at all about what we felt or had to say. We mentioned at the end of the convo that they lost a long life customer for the way she was responding to our concerns, and her response was "GOOD LUCK!" We loved Taxco because it was our local Mexican restaurant in Mint Hill. The food was great. We've supported them for over 8 years, through the pandemic, and definitely have spent A LOT of our money there. I've featured them on my foodie page numerous times and have recommended them to SO MANY people in the Charlotte area! It is so sad to see service like this in our area, poor restaurant management, and zero loyalty to a customer base. Unfortunately, our relationship with Taxco has come to an end now. This is actually for the Taxco that opened this week on the corner of Stevens Mill and Lawyers Road, but we have had similar experiences at the Mint hill location. We had hoped they would have improved. Ah, Taxco -- a culinary endeavour gone sideways, wrapped in warm tomato sauce and dusted with confusion... and a concerning amount of ranch seasoning. Let's give credit where it's due: the totopos were, in fact, warm and seasoned. Not life-changing, but hey, algo es algo. Unfortunately, the accompanying salsa was a tragedy in three parts -- no onions, no chiles, no cilantro. Just a sad, tomato-adjacent purée that whispered, "I watched a YouTube video on Mexican food once." The chile poblano? Think of the staleness of a week-old frozen pizza, resurrected in a microwave, slapped on a plate, and called a dish. It had the texture of regret and the flavor of ¿por qué estoy comiendo esto? And let's not forget the seasoning across the board -- it was as if someone took a handful of Hidden Valley packets and shouted "¡Ándale!" while tossing them into every dish. It wasn't fusion, it was confusion. Service? Well, we had a leisurely 15 minutes to stare at our menus, the walls, each other -- basically everything but food. Our drinks arrived with the entrees, which is perfect if you love a to eat dry chips with a beverage. Oh, and the chalkboard proudly advertising Birria Ramen? Cute in theory. In reality, it felt like a TikTok trend that should've stayed in someone's kitchen, not on a restaurant menu. There's fusion, and then there's cultural cosplay with broth. Now, in fairness -- this is opening week. We get it. Mistakes happen, teams are finding their rhythm, and kitchens are still learning the dance. But we truly hope they listen to what their customers are saying: people really do want authentic food. Not Instagram bait with no soul. Not ranch with a sombrero. And as far as translation goes? This menu had all the clarity of a Chevy Nova in 1970s Mexico -- "No va." It doesn't go. It doesn't work. It doesn't taste like it should. So we'll end with the words of the cultural anthem that this place accidentally embodies: "I got a flower tattoo 'cause my abuela liked rosas, don't drink horchata but I do love mimosas." Taxco, we're rooting for your glow-up. But right now? It's giving taco night at Karen's. read more

We called in an order for lunch today for 3 beef burritos combo. All of the beef was so so salty we couldn't eat any of them. I called and asked for the manager to let him know about this. All he said was "ok". I will NEVER eat there again! We thought we had found a place with great food. Nope! read more

My friend and I decided to eat at this place as our original place we decided upon was closed. She has been here several times and loves it. This was my first time, and on a Friday night, we were surprised to see that there was no wait. Now I don't eat dinner usually so I just tagged a long and ordered a glass of wine. Place was like any normal Mexican restaurant. I'm pretty spacious with a lot of seating options. All the servers and employees were super friendly, and the service was great. I ended up ordering their wings, but I will say I was not a fan. They were very crispy, and some parts burnt, so I'm not a huge fan, but now I know for next time. Overall, I will probably come again during lunch and especially since it is super close to my house. read more

Taxco is in Brighton Park and is very convenient. There are lunch specials every day and the prices are reasonable. The service is really good and all of the food comes out quickly. We got a beef and chicken taco, beans, burrito and quesadilla. Chips and salsa comes out right when you are seated to hold you over until dinner. There are multiple tvs if you want to watch a game! If you are in the area and craving mexican this is the place to go! read more

One of the many Mexican choices on the east side of Charlotte. I've been here a couple times before and haven't had any complaints. The menu is pretty much your typical Mexican restaurant menu. They have lunch specials sizes that you can order and are pretty filling as well. Just make sure you specify you want the lunch special because they won't ask most likely. I feel like they could do better. One star for having cheap Dos Equis amber on draft but the food was subpar. Our waitress was attentive but she didn't know the WiFi password. I asked a guy in the back but I don't think he knew what I was saying. Chips weren't fresh and the salsa offerings were okay. Had the enchiladas suizas. No idea why they call them that as it was enchiladas mole. Mole sauce was again just okay. Rice and beans were better. Never a good thing. We were not really impressed. We have been looking for a really good Mexican restaurant in our area and thought we would give this place a try. We were seated right away but then no one came by for a few minutes, then a man came by with chips and salsa but didn't take our drink order and we waited almost another 5 minutes or so for that (we were almost ready to leave because they were not busy at all). Then finally someone took our drink order and our dinner order. The salsas are very soupy, especially the mild, I think it is just tomato soup. I almost always try steak fajitas when I visit a place for the first time. It came out sizzling with peppers and onions like normal and only two flour tortilla shells. The amount of fajitas was substantial but it was very dry and overcooked in some places and worst of all did not come with anything to add such as guacamole, sour cream, pico salsa just nothing! My wife asked if I was going to ask and I said no when we are trying a place out for the first time let's see how they offer it and this was it. We also waited a substantial amount of time for the check, I was just surprised by the lack of service at a non busy time and lots of employees around just talking to each other. They get two stars because my wife said her tacos were good and the rice was good, other than that I would have stuck with just one. unfortunately we will not be returning here. read more

I work 3rd shift and Taxaco stays open late enough for me to grab dinner for the night. The food is always fresh. I ordered the Burrito Supremo.(Chicken) It comes w/rice or beans. The rice is so soft, fluffy and flavorful. The chicken in the burrito is also perfectly seasoned. The meal is so filling! My dinner also came with chips and salsa. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant has welcoming feeling. The ambiance is great for a night out or a family gathering. Definitely a 10/10 I would recommend. read more

We feel this is the best Mexican restaurant in Charlotte. The food is always fresh, served hot and is consistent. The service is usually efficient although they have become so popular locally it does get busy at peak times. It is a casual atmosphere with families, groups and patrons of all ages visiting here. We have been coming here since they opened and have never been disappointed. Taco was one of the few restaurants who managed successfully through the COVID pandemic. We recommend their chilaquiles and their pork ribs in salsa verde. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTING! I don't understand the 5-star reviews, which is why I ordered carry-out from Taxco in the first place. Maybe I went on a bad night. I will not be eating here again, though. I ordered beef chimichangas and chicken quesadillas. 1) I wanted the chimichangas specifically because I enjoy the crunchy outer layer you get from the deep frying. However, after a second look at the menu, Taxco bakes theirs after the deep fryer, so they end up soft, more like a burrito. NOT THE SAME!!! 2) The beef was so VERY bland. There was no salt or other seasoning added. Ditto for the chicken as it was very dry and equally flavorless. I added seasoning to the chicken once I got home, but I couldn't really rescue the dryness. This was NOT a good experience. The only positives are that the staff I encountered were all pleasant and friendly and the amount of food you get is reasonable for the price, which is why I gave it two stars instead of one. Unfortunately, I won't be a regular customer. I agree with the reviewer TF...even the beans and rice lacked flavor. I ended up throwing it in the garbage read more

I might've ordered the wrong items on the menu, but the way the order was put together/thrown into the container, looked like someone just shook it on purpose and served it. Very sloppy. The tamales literally had a teaspoon of meat in them and the tacos and the burritos just fell apart, they were so soggy. Very plain tasting low quality ground beef and old chicken. The beans were just a puréed something that didn't even look like beans. Like I said, there may be other dishes that will taste/look better but my first experience was a negative one. read more
