I have to say that this is one of the most elusive businesses I've ever worked with. The care is pretty good, but trying to get a hold of them is impossible. It's like they're in some sort of ophthalmology witness protection program. I dropped glasses off a month ago to have new lenses put in and I still haven't heard from them. When I call I'm told to leave 1 message and they'll get back to me in 24 hours and if I leave more than one message, it will delay things. no one has called me back in the multiple 24 hour intervals that I have left messages. That alone tells you that this is not a company that's very efficient in running their office that they feel the need to chastise their customers for trying to get a hold of them. read more

Dr Guck, optometrist at Tayani, solved my vision problem that 5 other ophthalmologists and specialists could not. I can't say enough positive things about him. I have suffered for 2 years with blurry vision and light sensitivity since having cataract surgery. I couldn't even read for more than 10 minutes without so much blurriness that I had to stop reading. He looked at things very thoroughly and told me there was an eyelid infection that no one else had noticed that was causing the problem. The solution: a few months of antibiotics, and it will all clear up. Wow! I am beyond grateful for his kindness, professionalism and wisdom. An answer to 2 years of prayers. Thank you Dr. Guck. The retina i permanently damaged. 2 years later and I still cannot see clearly and cannot be corrected by glasses until the retina is stable. I paid $10,000 extra to NOT have to wear glasses. I had eyelids and eyebrow surgery, summer 2024 to correct some medical and cosmetic issues. The results were terrible, after 2 repeat surgeries, with infections and permanent scarring, 9 months later. I would not recommend having this type of surgery done here. Even the office staff seemed stressed, having to deal with other unsatisfied customers who were there complaining about their unsatisfactory surgery results. read more

I had a Blepharoplasty surgery two weeks ago performed by Dr. Tayani. My lower eye lids were drooping due to severe dry-eye disease. I was a little nervous, but Dr. Tayani made me feel very comfortable. He also removed fat pads from under my eyes. The Staff really kept me laughing...all of them made me feel at ease before the surgery. Dr. Tayani is certainly the best! Dr. Tayani is a brilliant, extremely knowledgeable, and skillful plastic surgeon. Dr. Tayani staff are extremely kind, loving, helpful, courteous, always cheerful and loving and fulfilling the patient needs. Dr. T and staff work together like a finely tuned beautiful Symphony. They all complement each other and shine. Everyone has their own skill and responsibility and is executed and completed to perfection. Dr. Tayani explained thoroughly my procedure and completely assured me of every step that was needed from starting to completing the procedure. I left comfortable in the very best of his masterful hands. A bonus and Tayani Institute is there is an ophthalmologist and optometrist on Board at all the locations. My procedure was skin cancer removal from my nose, which required plastic surgery due to the size of the skin area removal. Dr. T did an eyelid tuck and placed the tissue on the grafted area on my nose. I had stitches on my eyelids and nose stitches for 10 days afterwards the bandages were removed and allowed to air dry for 10 days using ointment on eyes and nose. I returned in 10 days to follow up on my recovery. Dr. Tayani was very pleased with the results and released me. It is just a process of healing now my friends and family are amazed at my eyes and nose and so am I of the outcome. I strongly encourage anyone in need of plastic surgery to go to Tayani Institute for the very best and surgery needs and staff care. Do not take your eye care to Tayani Institute! I had progressive prescription glasses twice from this establishment and both times the lenses we're wrong. I am a progressive prescription wearer and I know the distances on lens position. Bottom is for reading Middle is for mid range and top of lens is for long distance. The prescription progressives that I received over one year ago were completely wrong with close range at the top of the lens. I called them my "bizarro world" glasses. I rescheduled to have them remade and had to go into their Laguna Hills office for a re-examination & was given a different prescription...which was never completed! They never answer their phone! You wait on hold forever! They never call you back! And to this day I have never received my new progressive prescription glasses from my first "bizarro world" prescription progressive glasses from over one year ago! Tayani Institute touts their "professionalism" that is a joke! The most unprofessional business I've ever interacted with. I believe they have an issue with the company who creates their lenses, and that's not good for us as clients. I believe it creates a disconnect between the client and Tayani Institute, which they are not professionally adept at taking responsibility for. Take my advice, go elsewhere, save yourself the headache. Oh and by the way, they're still trying to schedule a new appointment, my yearly appointment after never getting back to me regarding my progressive prescription glasses... and once again I can't even cancel my appointment without physically driving into their office because even though leaving a message (after waiting on hold forever to do so) because they never answer their phone, of course... I just received a new email; your appointments tomorrow reschedule(after I already canceled last week) or there'll be a $50 charge. Oh, and I forgot to mention that my wife's progressives were the same way terrible and now I have to drive in, in person to cancel the appointments so they don't charge us $50 apiece. I had to cancel my surgery due to the lack of communication with their surgical coordinator. She did not communicate clearly what was needed pre surgery. As the surgical date was approaching, I called her to clarify but was unable to reach her. I left numerous voicemail and they were not returned. I called the office, they told me she was busy and would call me back later. That call came a week later. She then asked me about pre operative procedures that she did not mentioned I needed during our first meeting. When I told her she did not mentioned it, she got angry and rude. I felt that this conversation was a reflection of what was to come. Imagine going through surgery and something needs to be fixed. How much time and effort would I have to get through! So I unfortunately cancelled my surgery and I would advise anyone to beware. read more

She didn't greet me by saying "Welcome to Tayani Institute", but instead, my welcome was, "do you have a mask?" I said, no I do not. She said, "There's a sign on the door! Can't you read Sir?" I said if you require that I wear one in for my visit, then can you please provide me with one. She said, "Yes, for $2.00". There's a sign on the door! That we charge $2.00 for masks. #TayaniInstituteFAIL I said I am not going to buy a mask for $2.00, so she denied me service. So, I walked out and because of the the employee's rudeness to me, I wanted to share my feedback with those thinking about coming to Tayani Institute. Being denied service from a healthcare facility because I do not have a mask is a violation and they should have provide me a mask without a fee! I received several SMS alerts regarding my appointment, and there was NO mention that masks were mandatory, also received a voice announcement call asking me to confirm my appointment. Again, that voice announcement didn't mention anything about mandatory masks. It also didn't mentioned that if I didn't wear a mask I would be denied service. Every other business, whether it was a healthcare facility or not that required a mask freely handed them out and did not charge for a mask. I just had mono focal replacement lenses inserted as part of cataract surgery for both my eyes and now have excellent distance vision without glasses! The surgeon was Dr. Gwynn and the surgery at was the West Coast Center for Surgery in San Clemente California. I wish now that I had followed Dr. Gwynn's advice and had chosen multi focal lenses even though they are twice the price. I want to complement all the staff at the surgical center for their excellent treatment. I had a poor experience with this office. It was my first time here for an annual eye exam. My appointment was scheduled for 3PM, I arrived a few minutes early. The waiting room was packed, I thought due to the practice having a number of doctors on staff and patients being there for various doctors. Checked in, paid my copay, began my wait. Time went by, no one interacted with me nor offered any explanation as I waited, and at 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment I approached the front desk and asked what was going on? She checked in the back and said they were coming out to get me soon. I was annoyed, went to wait outside the office, then realized if the staff at the office isn't capable of watching a clock to discern appointment times, I'm really not comfortable with them going anywhere near my eyes. I left. At 3:46PM, 46 minutes after my scheduled appointment, the office phoned me and said "the doctor is ready to see you now, come back if you still want to be seen or call us to reschedule, and again, I'm sorry about the wait." Using the term "again" I'm sorry implies the term I'm sorry had been used prior, it had not; no apology was made until after I had left the office. Not a good experience, this office conveys the tone that one does not matter, is unimportant, and the practice runs on it's own time. After reading other reviews on here, I realized this is the norm for this office, and that is likely the reason office staff did not make mention of the delay nor apologize for the wait, one does not acknowledge something when it is an everyday occurrence. If something came up, such as a medical emergency for another person, office staff would say "I'm so sorry, we had a medical emergency who needed urgent care, we are going to be a bit late on starting your appointment today." I work in healthcare, I do not keep my patients waiting for delayed time periods for their sessions. I am curious how long these doctors expect to wait when they seek their own healthcare. While the practice has responded on other yelp reviews stating that perhaps a medical emergency comes into the office, and must be seen first, thus this is their rationale for the late appointments, this is not an accurate response. Medical emergencies in an outpatient setting are the rarity, not the norm. Habitual late appointments at an outpatient practice are the result of poor office management, overscheduling, and a general lack of respect for patients and quality patient care. I'd encourage seeking another office for eye care. read more

My dad and I called to schedule an appointment for a friend and the lady who answered was pleasant for 2 minutes and after a second question she picked up an attitude and sounded audibly impatient. I asked a third question and she told me to go research it myself. She was utterly unhelpful and from the sound of it, hates her job. If this is the front line of service this company chooses to employ then I would never choose them again. My dad has an accent and she got frustrated saying he's breaking up though he sounded perfectly audible, so maybe some Asian hate crime going on too. My Catarac surgery was recommended by Dr. Josen after a few regular visits and exams. The Catarac coordinator, Celeste, gave me written information about the surgery and the options and costs for lenses. She also explained this information to me and scheduled my surgery. I was given good information on the whole process and what to expect and do before and after the surgery. All steps were explained in writing. My surgery was split to two times --. Left and right eye. The surgery staff Elena, Sim, Ava, Betsy and Marissa, did a great job preparing me and moving me to OR for surgery. They took care to see I was comfortable. Surgery by Dr. Josen went smoothly and only took about twenty minutes I believe. My recovery went smoothly applying three daily eye drops. My progress was checked the next day by Dr Josen after each eye. It was checked again after a week on each eye. No problems were encountered. I'm very satisfied with my new eye sight and Tayani Institute service was excellent. The personnel were all experts in their function. The nurses and Dr Tayani were awesome. All around wonderful experience during check in, pre op preparation and the surgery itself.
