Decide to stop in and do a takeout order after work. Put my order in and waited 20 minutes for it to finish. Took three people to take the order and to bring it to me. When I got home, I realized they overcharged me by three dollars on my meal. I called them and asked them what this was about and they said it's a takeout fee. So basically you drive there use your own gas your own vehicle and you put the order in and then you wait to take it home with you and there's no table service and they still hit you with a three dollar fee. I will never ever eat at this place again. I've lived in Pflugerville for over 30 years and have never done a takeout with them, always a sit in. But never again! They don't tell you about this fee. It's been decades since I've set foot in this place. After you pull into the steep and potholed gravel parking lot, you can step back in time to a building filled with old relics which adds to the charm. I did read through several reviews before coming here, but nobody mentioned that they have absolutely no craft beer or wine, just the usual domestic offerings. Not even Shiner! We started with the sampler platter appetizer which was underwhelming and small. The hush puppies were clearly previously frozen out of a bag and of ver poor quality, skip those nasty nuggets. After 5 PM, you can get the baked potato, but I would definitely skip their salad out of the bag. For the main course, I got shrimp and fish and the wife got hers baked not fried. The beans and slaw were ....meh, fries were ok. I hate to say it, but there's a lot of yelpers slapping down five stars on what is just 2 to 3 star grub. Part of the ambience here is dining on styrofoam plates and cups with a roll of paper towels at the ready. The service was friendly and attentive. The catfish actually wasn't too bad and it was the highlight of the meal, which isn't saying much. For the money, this place is a pass for us. So if you're looking to sit down to some great quality seafood, I would suggest looking elsewhere. If you have little to no expectations and like the vibe, this place is for you. And if this place is for you, they do have some dining areas set aside for private parties, although you may wish to avoid using the bathrooms, especially the women's. I met my friends here for a late lunch. We arrived at 2:00 p.m. which as too late for the buffet. I don't know what time it stops on other days but on Saturdays, it's at 2. The decor is fun. Old cash registers greet you as you walk in. Lots of old signs and stuff. Kind of like Cracker Barrel only with local flair. Service was great! Our server was friendly and courteous. This visit had a family of 7 with the parents and children aging from infant , toddler , 5, 7,8. The parents just let the 3 older kids loose at the buffet. The dad fixed his plate then told the kids "it's a buffet get what you want" I couldn't believe it. They were too small to reach up and get items so they were reaching as far as they could to get food. Dragging their arms across and scooping up what they could. There was Mac and cheese in the potatoes, potatoes in the gravy etc.. the parents weren't paying any attention , too ignorant to care. Management really needs to put signs up that kids under 12 need to be assisted by parents and hold them accountable. No hidden fees please! I have ordered take out from this restaurant a couple times. Both times I ordered a 3 piece catfish with fries. The wait was fairly average, about 20 mins. The fries were cold BOTH times. I thought it was a fluke the first time but when I received the order the second time, it was the same. They were skimpy with the tarter sauce. Given the size of the fillets one would assume you would ATLEAST get two sauces. Ultimately the food was decent however, what perturbed me was the "to go charge" that is not openly communicated. I noticed it in the difference in price when I checked out. The first time I did the math in my head and realized I couldn't have gotten to that amount unless the actual price of the dish was incorrect. NOPE, when I ordered the second time and received the check, I asked why there was a price difference. The young girl didn't know so I asked her if there is a charge for "to go" orders. She eventually said yes. I was diligent in looking all over the menu, at the "to go" order station, web site and anywhere else it could be posted but nothing. With the cost of things rising, not cool to not be upfront about there being additional charges, for water, to go, sauces, anything! Not sure I will return, and if so, definitely not for "to go"! I'm sad to say that Springhill isn't what it used to be. The fried catfish used to be nice and flaky, but over the last couple of years I have often found it to be very mushy. I take this to mean that they are microwaving the leftovers from the lunch buffet to serve for dinner. If it's not that, it means it's undercooked. On top of that, they now include a surcharge for using a credit card. I have since found some other places that do catfish to the level that Springhill was years ago. read more

As a lover of buffets and catfish, I was excited to come try this spot out. It's a very country style, more southern than western type of restaurant. They've got all the foods associated with the south like fried catfish, hush puppies, boiled green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes, and even fried gizzards! I love this type of food and having a buffet of it really satisfied my cravings. Lunch buffet is from 11-2 and costs about $16 with a water and $18 with a fountain drink. I would come again since I like it but I would point out that I love Golden Corral too and they have all the same dishes plus more there for a better price at lunch. We finally made it to Springhill! We have been driving past this establishment for 3 years, and we finally decided to give it a try. Upon walking in you are greeted with classic Americana nostalgia, fishing gear and old signs hanging from the rafters with bicycles and endless other knickknacks and trinkets! I really enjoy places like this so I was very excited! To say we came in with zero expectations would be an understatement. The reviews weren't encouraging and I am not typically drawn to fried greasy food. However, I was very pleasantly surprised with our experience! I ended up ordering the sweet tea (delicious) and the shrimp and catfish combo basket with coleslaw and fries. I was pleasantly surprised by the breading on both fish and was happy to find that they were not too oily! Went for lunch on 10/2/17 The place is set way back from the street and could be easy to miss. The inside is a little country and a little on the old side. I was seated quickly and a server came over in just a few minutes. I decided not to do the buffet because I really don't like to over eat if I can help it. I ordered the 2 piece Catfish plate. The ambitis very much a Texas restaurant with feed store signs, tablecloths with local businesses on them, etc. My girlfriend and I went there for dinner and she had the fried shrimp dinner and I had the catfish and shrimp dinner. The fried shrimp are HUGE and very tasty. I loved the catfish and their tartar sauce is good too! They were out of hush puppies, which sucked. We were looking forward to those. Their cole slaw has pineapple in it, not big chunks or anything but definitely that flavor and it's a canned pineapple flavor. We didn't care for it. Never will I EVER go to this place again. If I could give them no stars I would. I have had entirely too many bad experiences here. I have given them 3 several "do-overs" since their food is really good but their service SUCKS! If you are an African American do not and I repeat do NOT go to this business for ANYTHING! The first time I ever ordered online I ordered the cat and shrimp combo and I got all the way home to discover there was just shrimp in the container. I called to tell them about the mistake and the manager said I could just go back and get my fish or they could put my name on a board to get fish the next time I was in. No apology or nothing. Of course that wasn't good enough for me so I went all the way back and got a refund. Still no apology. The next few times I went with either my friend or my husband and I had wonderful service and then I took the liberty of going by myself. The service was absolutely horrible. It took forever from my waitress to come take my order and even longer for her to bring me the check. Needless to say I still went back to the "restaurant" with my husband and low and behold we had good service. Today is the day I made up my mind to NEVER go back no matter what. I walked in and noticed just one other table of 4 and myself in the facility. The girl who sat me told me my waitress would be right with me. 10 minutes later after the waitress walked past me 4 times and didn't say anything, this young guy walked past and asked if I had been helped. I said no and he said he would go get my waitress. When she finally decided to come help, she did NOT apologize for the wait or anything. I immediately asked "did you not want to help me?"
