Luis and his teammate came and were very helpful and great at explaining everything and discussing the problem and how to fix it. He investigated where the suspected leak was until he was able to pinpoint it so that we weren't left with a continued slow leak. Jamel and his workers are wonderful. Upon first meeting with Jamel I really appreciate that he videoed the area and made verbal notes. He talked to me about what we were looking to do, as well as what our budget was. From there he was able to provide us an estimate. In order for Jamel to write up digital plans and HOA paper work, he does require a 1,000 deposit. Can't say I blame him since it's a lot of work and at that point you might as well be invested. His plans were easy to envision with the 3D replicas, as well as the drawn out plans. He provided all the necessary documentation for the HOA and it was not a problem to get approved. It was approved with no changes. Most impressive is how fast and how diligent his staff works. Jamel's employees are respectful, hardworking, and clean up after everything they do. The entire time they were working on our yard they continuously worked. There was no moving "slowly" to occupy more time, or sitting around for long breaks. There were here to get a job done and that's what they were doing. We loved them so much we got them donuts twice. It's nice to have such respectful and hardworking people working on your home that you know would do the same job for their own families or friends. Our finished backyard looks amazing! We love it. It is everything we hoped for and matches our home perfectly. Jamel's guidance and great staff made our backyard the modern additional entertaining and living space we had wanted. I have had the hardest time trying to find anyone that actually wants to work, listen and do what I want done. It's been exhausting, ridiculously irritating and going on for years. I recently purchased a home in Henderson which needed a front yard remake. There is a large pine tree in the front yard which makes a grass lawn a poor choice. I called five landscape contractors. The first added more items to the quote than I wanted to do and came in three times higher than my budget. Two didn't bother returning my call, and another didn't have the experience needed for the SNWA water smart landscaping program. In walked Jamel Taylor, on time and focused on the project. I needed grass removed from the front yard, over-grown plants removed, the older irrigation system replaced with new lines and valves, and I wanted to apply for the Southern Nevada Water Authority rebate for converting my lawn to a Smart Landscape with decorative rock. Being a Smart Start Contractor who has taken SNWA training, Jamel Taylor, owner and general manager of Taylormade Landscapes, was friendly, professional, and took time to explain what to expect going forward, as well as suggesting some plants better suited for locations with high sun. Very disappointed in this company. Here's how it works: forget about a free estimate - you have to pay them to give you one. You get two options $200 or $500 depending on if you want 2D or 3D design. I chose the cheap one. I got back a drawing a few days later. They wanted approx $24,000 for a backyard that is about 20x50' I had 5-6 other landscapers come out as well. The next highest was 15k and that included bigger tress and more landscaping than Taylor was giving. HUGE RIPOFF...especially because I had to pay $200 for the "estimate" that every other landscape company provided for free. Also, you have to get pre-screened before they will come out and talk to you. They have minimum limits on the jobs they do, so be prepared to answer a bunch of questions first. This joint is a joke! And How in the world can real grass cost more than artificial grass? read more

We got 3 estimates and ended up going with Taylormade Landscapes. They were not the cheapest, but I liked Jamel's obvious level of expertise and his ideas for our yard. It was a new house with just dirt in the backyard. Jamel's team totally transformed it and it is now just beautiful. I rarely leave a review following my experience with a company, but felt compelled to so in this instance. My wife and I were interested in a total re-make of our backyard landscape and Jamel came highly recommended. We scheduled an appointment with Taylormade and Jamel spent at least an hour with us discussing the potential re-design. Jamel was very personable and appeared quite knowledgeable. We were impressed. He took measurements and pictures and generally talked up the job. He promised to get back with us in about a week with a general idea of the cost of the project. We were excited and hoped for an offer somewhere between the $45K and $144K estimates we had gotten from two other bids. That was about 4 weeks ago. No call, no email, no nothing, not even the courtesy of a call refusing the job. I can understand not wanting the job, but not the unprofessional way he chose to let us know. Also, formulated a design that fit our needs & budget. The work started early October & finished last week. Julian & his crew arrived at work on time everyday & worked responsibly. Pavers & turf look absolutely amazing. Pergola is well built & sturdy. The decorative rock columns are built beautifully. They care about the details of their work & take their responsibilities seriously. "Your backyard should be an extension of your living room" - This was Jamel's powerful piece of advice during our first consultation. Before getting our backyard done, we avoided spending time in it because it was dreary, dilapidated, and lifeless. We did some research in advance of landscaping ideas, but during our first meeting with Jamel, we quickly realized that we were not very knowledgeable about our backyard design and how to select materials. Jamel is not only knowledgeable about his work, but he took the time to help us design a backyard that we love! At first, we wanted to install tiles, but introduced us to travertine. He also introduced us to bottle trees and explained how they are native to a part of Australia with a similar climate as Vegas valley. He even mentioned that the leaves produce a beautiful rustling sound when the wind roars through the valley. This is also one of his strengths. We have had a dirt yard for quite awhile and it was finally time to get it together. I called Jamel for an estimate on clean-up, tree removal, planting new bushes & trees. Beware of Jamel of Taylormade landsscape. We were having our front yard converted from grass to desert landscape and called Taylormade and met with Jamel at our house. The field meet went well but later when asked for a sketch or quick drawing of his proposal he became anal and defensive even sending a 5 page Architect/Designer laws report taken from internet. He further stated that if he provided a free drawing the client( us) might use it with another contractor we may hire. The service of providing a sketch or a working drawing is quite common in the landscape business as we have three now that were way under Jamel's estimate. He also stated at meet that he wasn't a fan of using a plastic barrier membrane which is a requirement for the Southern Nevada Water Authority rebate we are using. Having worked for the Las Vegas Valley Water District which is the Southern Nevada Water Authority for 22 years as an Inspection Supervisor I dealt with literally hundreds of contractors, architects,designers,engineers and planners in projects with costs well over hundreds of millions of dollars. Never once in my travels have I ran into such a paranoid anal man as Mr. Taylor. After reviewing his portfolio of work I saw no front yard conversions as mine which is over 2200 square feet, leading me to believe he has not done anything of this magnitude in his LONG career.
