In February of last year, my mother hired TCP for a screened in patio project that included a fireplace, grill, and mini fridge. The project was supposed to take approximately 2 months. It has now been over 9 months, and the project is still incomplete. Throughout the process, TCP was extremely unprofessional, and the quality of work is unacceptable. The patio foundation was later described by their own contractor, Dean, as being done incorrectly poured and "messed up." We have him on recording stating that the foundation and other parts of the project were done poorly. The concrete now has major foundational cracks (confirmed by independent inspectors), further confirming that the work was done improperly. In addition to the poor construction, TCP caused serious damage and safety hazards, including: - A gas leak (while adding a speaker that they "forgot" in the process of construction into the ceiling, their contractor tried to force the speaker in near a gas line in the ceiling and caused a gas leak). -Flooding that left our yard underwater and muddy for months and still comes into the screened in porch (also causing structural issues) -Extensive damage to our yard and sprinkler system -Construction trash left all over our property for months -Nails and razor blades left on the ground, which resulted in our dog cutting their paw -Blood splattered all over the inside of the porch from a worker that was never cleaned up -We had to hire help to come in and clean up their construction trash and mess -The inspection has failed 3x by The Woodlands and it still won't pass inspection Because the conditions became so unsafe and unsanitary, we were forced to hire help to clean up after TCP abandoned the project. After Rob Douglass, the owner, came out to look at the work, he made rude and inappropriate comments to my mother, even mocking her for what she requested that would bring the project up to code to pass inspection and properly fix the issues. This behavior was completely unacceptable and disgusting. Since then, TCP has stopped responding entirely. No communication, no accountability, and no effort to complete or repair the project. Due to the seriousness of the situation, we are now working with an attorney. What was promised as a short stress free project has turned into a year-long ordeal involving unsafe conditions, structural issues, abandoned work, and a complete lack of professionalism. I strongly advise anyone considering TCP to look elsewhere. read more

What was sold as a 2-month patio project has turned into a 10-month nightmare and is still unfinished. Nearly every part of the structure has issues. The main contractor, Dean, either quit or was fired partway through the project. From that moment on, the company effectively abandoned the job. I have multiple recorded conversations in which Dean admits fault for several major problems, including the way the concrete was poured. I've since had multiple independent experts inspect the work, and they've confirmed serious foundational defects that are already visible less than a year after construction began. TCP has completely disappeared and has made no attempt to resolve or even address these issues. They were not the cheapest bid, and I chose them specifically expecting a smooth, professional experience. Instead, it has been constant stress, delays, and escalating problems. Because of the extent of the defects and the cost to repair their mistakes, I am now working with an attorney. The repairs will cost thousands of dollars due solely to their poor workmanship. read more

TCP designed and constructed the screened in patio that fit our needs and doesn't look like an add-on extension. They were very thorough and offered suggestions we hadn't considered, resulting in a better-than-imagined/bug-free lounging area. The project manager, Brian, stayed on top of things and communicated constantly regarding workers' schedules. Kudos to TCP. read more

In the age of covid we are all living in its important to evaluate how and where you spend your time. We decided that since home is where we now spend most of our time we should improve the look of it. So we looked at pinterest, houzz, and other places for outdoor patio designs. We finally found the design that we just fell in love with. We got 3 bids from different companies and we choose Texas Custom Patios (TCP). We knew going into this project that it was going to be expensive so we had to be careful to select a company that was not just competent but personable as well. We found that with TCP. From the moment we met with Ryan Guikema we liked his professionalism and his persona. Ryan designed our patio based on what we had visualized. He was upfront and honest with everything and the contract we agreed to. There were no hidden tricks or additional fees. Michael Fickle was assigned as our project manager. If you decide you ever want to do an outdoor living space and select TCP ask if Mike can be your project manager. Mike made good on every action throughout the process. He is personable, professional, and courteous. Also I need to recognize Andrea. We met with Andrea and she helped us decide on the stone, floor tile, and even the grout. She is was very professional and most of all patient with us because I think we took longer than we should have and asked her 10,000 questions. The carpenters, masons, tile setters, electricians, plumbers, concrete workers, they were all simply amazing. I saw how hard they worked and how much pride they took in their craft. I fed the workers lunch several times and made certain they always had plenty of water to drink. So now we have an incredible outdoor living area complete with a gas fireplace, covered sitting area, grill, fridge, and an open area with a woodburning fire pit. So for us and our project we are beyond satisfied. I highly recommend Ryan, Mike, Andrea, and all the folks at Texas Custom Patios, we plan on being a repeat customer in the future. They can make your vision a reality. Now we have to buy furniture!! read more

I did my due diligence in researching my ideas and interviewing builders. In fact, one major player was scared off upon assessing my needs. We have a tricky roof line and a patio completely exposed to the elements. I knew what I wanted- I wanted to describe my vision and sit back to allow the builder to handle all the details! I did not want to have to supervise the work. This is where Brian exceeded my expectations. I was able to relax while he handled EVERYTHING! When I did have a question...or last minute idea, he was immediately available & so easy to work with. From submitting HOA requests, managing every detail, and even getting in my pool to remove a little debris that had blown in Brian works very hard to ensure customer satisfaction. You get what you pay for, and Texas Custom Patios delivers! No surprise costs, friendly and extremely talented contractors, on time completion, and a fabulous addition to my home that will increase its value. Most importantly, a living space that I enjoy daily! I highly recommend Texas Custom Patios to anyone looking to expand or build out their patio by a reputable company with professional standards & quality work! A note about negative reviews: I recommend carefully reading the reviews with a thought. To send a human to every home requesting a bid is extremely expensive for a business. As a business owner, I am aware that 60% of requests are from people thinking about a project, wanting expensive drawings, and clueless to what their dreams cost vs. what they can afford. There's always two sides, and I recommend asking TCP about any concerns you might have due to a review. Then form your own opinion. Many people want a gourmet outdoor kitchen - but have only a budget for a fancy BBQ pit. Don't let it get under your skin if you're asked what your budget is. I had Texas Custom Patios do an extension project to my current patio. Jeremy was my contact person/contractor and he was great. Setting up an appointment was easy. He came over and listen to the ideas I was looking for and was able to stay within budget. I am so happy I went with TCP because it was definitely a stress free project. They were exactly what I was looking for. Yes, I could've gone to some on Craigslist and let a stranger into my yard... or get referrals from other people but I chose to pay a little more to get what I want without any issues. What I loved: - Contract: which protects them and you as the buyer. I have heard plenty of horror stories with contractors without the proper paperwork and ends up in a lawsuit. The contract clearly states the cost breakdown, building procedures, and what to expect. Nothing tricky or hidden. Accountability was my worry. - Warranty: Warranty on the project and also my approval. If there was something I didn't like, they would correct it. For example, the concrete that was laid out was probably laid out at the wrong time as it was pouring down rain later that day, which resulted in visible cracks through out the pavement. Jeremy reviewed it and confirmed that multiple cracks. He received approval from his boss and they re-did it---without any additional cost to me. - HOA: They took care of HOA approval by submitting the documents. Though there was a hiccup on HOA saying they didn't get it paperwork, Jeremy did a 2nd attempt and made sure they received it electronically. - Craftsmanship: They matched my roofing and design so the patio look "one" with the house. It really looks like the builder put it there! They were even able to match my paintcolor and bricks. Jeremy provided samples of the wood for the ceiling for me to pick out and the quality and colors really pulled the patio together. In addition to the patio extension, we had concrete extended to the side of the house so we could put our own fire pit out. I was still debating on a pergola cover...still am. My patio cover came with 2 additional outlets, 2 fan installations (I provided the actual fans), and gutters. Everything turned out amazing. I was so happy with the work. We were able to get the project done right before my wedding so we could have guests enjoy the patio and weather in March. read more

We were very excited to work with TCP after reading all the positive reviews. We had our initial consultation with Steven which went well as we discussed our ideas and took many pictures. We immediately scheduled our next meeting. Well the first meeting had to be rescheduled and then the second meeting had to be rescheduled (which was three weeks after our initial consultation) because the design was only 70% complete. At this point I should have listened to my wife who said we should move on and try someone else, but I waited until our 3rd rescheduled meeting and low and behold...no show, no call, no e-mail. We had rearranged our scheduled to make this meeting happen. I called and sent an e-mail and nothing. Very disappointing and it really showed a lack of professionalism. To date, I have still yet to receive any type of correspondence from Steven. I would definitely not recommend this company!!! read more

Texas Custom Patios installed a patio and patio cover on our house in 2012. The roof (patio cover) was poorly installed and began disintegrating. Rob, with Texas Custom Patios, came to inspect the roof and agreed that it was not constructed properly. He said that the company would repair the roof. That was in May 2018 and 6 months later Texas Custom Patios has yet to resolve or repair the issue. I have called and emailed Rob and Texas Custom Patios numerous times (6) and there has been no response. I left messages every time I called. Their customer service is severely lacking. This was our 2nd job with Texas Custom Patios, and just like the first it went off without a hitch. All phases of the process are easy and well communicated. Their jobs typically take less time than they quote, which is great. Workmanship and level of detail is perfect (and I am very picky). We have now had Outdoor Living area and Kitchen done through them and would do it the same way if we had to do it again. They are definitely not the cheapest, but then again do you want the cheapest for your home? I have another project I am considering for next year and will be calling them again for that. read more

TCP did an amazing job in customer service, quality, communication, project management, and timeliness of completion. We had a 6' x 8' kitchenette added to our backyard oasis. We were so disappointed in our brief experience with Texas Custom Patios. Like another reviewer, we were a bit put off by Crystal's not-so-veiled "qualifying" of our financial ability to afford their services before agreeing to make an appointment for a "free quote", but understood that they don't want to waste their time and resources with homeowners who have an unrealistic idea of the cost of adding an outdoor living space. Once she was satisfied that we were good candidates, Crystal scheduled an appointment 3 weeks out for Josh to come and visit with us at our home. Josh kept the appointment and we spent more than 1 1/2 hours discussing concepts, going over possibilities, and allowing him to photograph and measure our backyard. Their website and literature they sent in advance of the appointment indicated it was a 1 week turnaround for plans and an estimate of cost. Josh said it would take 2 weeks when he was leaving our initial appointment but, because we were leaving on a 2-week trip, scheduled an appointment 10 days out to come and present his ideas and the costs. The morning of the appointment (about 2 hours ahead) he called and cancelled saying he had a personal emergency. He offered (we did not ask) to email us the preliminary plans and the estimate, which he presumably had ready to present in 2 hours but for his personal emergency. He never emailed anything. We contacted him 2-3 days later asking if possibly the presentation he sent had been lost in cyberspace - he admitted at that time that he had not finished the plans but would have them to us within 2 days. It's been 2 1/2 MONTHS and we still have never had a response from Josh or any followup by anyone at Texas Custom Patios. Good for them if they can waste our time and continue to prosper. We found another contractor who actually values our time and our business. Texas Custom Patios could take a lesson. read more

My experience with Texas Custom Patios was NOT a good one. First, they wanted to make sure that I could afford their services. I was specifically told their average job was between $15k and $20k prior to anyone coming out. Okay, no problem! When the contractor came out, he looked over an older deck that I wanted replaced, discussed some ideas, and said he would get back to me with some quotes and prices. He never did! I called to follow up and they did not bother to call me back. Big disappointment and a loss for them! Someone else now has my business. Perhaps if I had a home in River Oaks they would have given me more attention. read more
