But it wasn't like that at all. I had never been before, even though I've passed it so many times. I finally decided, "Let me just try it." The cashier was really nice and explained how everything worked. I asked her what her favorite salad was, but instead of going with her recommendation, I trusted my instincts and built mine based on the ingredients that stood out to me. I ordered the Polynesian chili mango salad with mint and added grilled shrimp. I wasn't a huge fan of the shrimp, but the salad itself was so good that I still ate the whole thing. The flavors were layered and intentional. Not generic, not bland. I love when salads don't taste like an afterthought. What really impressed me was the hot sauce bar. That blew me. They had multiple hot sauces, and as someone who's basically a hot sauce connoisseur, I appreciate that because different hot sauces pair better with different foods. That detail alone elevated the experience. The space was big, clean, bright, and full of color. It felt fresh. Overall, I was genuinely impressed. I definitely want to go back and try the other salads.

At that time I would've given my experience five stars no doubt. It was a little bit off this time. First of all, it was so cold in there that my food was hot when it arrived. I took literally one minute to take a photo of my food and by the time I started eating it, it was already getting cold. I got the one protein plate and of course went for the smoked and grilled wings because I had been dreaming about them since 2021. They were still very tasty and I love the variety of sauces that get served with it. My favorite was the cilantro sauce, but the lemon pepper was really good too. The brussell sprouts flavor was good but they seemed old though, like they had sat for a long time and then been reheated. Also, we got there at about 8:15 PM and they closed at 9pm. I had been traveling all day and this was the first place we went after leaving the airport. We ordered the craft sodas and were very excited about them but pretty much as soon as our food came out the gentleman from the counter informed us that they were closing down the soda machine. I was pretty annoyed because those sodas are close to $5 apiece and I was hoping to try a couple flavors. I get that they wanna get out of there, but we were paying customers. If they were gonna close the soda machine as soon as they got our food, they should've told us that when we were ordering.

My dinner was ready quickly, and everything tasted good. If anything, I would likely order different sides next time, as everything was just a little on the dry side and the Brussels sprouts were a bit overdone for my liking.

The menu said there was no red sauce, but I didn't think there was no sauce period. Apparently instead of a sauce, the base was cheese so it was a thick layer. I loved it! Very unique. You definitely get a bang for your buck with tons of meat on this pizza: pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, hamburger. I was surprised that the village salad was pretty tasty despite not having any greens. It was a well balanced dish. And not being a vegetable fan, I really dug this.

Unlike the loud, well-known Mediterranean restaurants in Buckhead & Sandy Springs we all know well,…read moreBanu offers something rare: a lovely, surprisingly quiet ambiance. We have a standing Tuesday night dinner with my 88-year-old father, who loves authentic Turkish and Persian-inspired Mediterranean cuisine, but simply cannot hear in most of the larger establishments. Banu solved that problem beautifully. The four of us dined there last night, and the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and--mercifully--conducive to real conversation. Banu came highly recommended by three close friends, all foodies! Our server, Brianna, was exceptional: knowledgeable, passionate about food, and genuinely attentive. My father isn't keen on feta--the kitchen swapped it for mozzarella without hesitation. Small gesture, big impression. His Greek salad was SO good, my wife finished it. The food was outstanding across the board--the hummus silky and creamy, the lamb, chicken satays, chicken thighs, and koobideh kabobs all remarkably juicy and cooked to perfection. And somehow, we still managed to find room for the baklava: not too sweet, but so good we didn't leave a crumb. The value here is extraordinary! You'll leave stunned by how little you paid. One note on beverages: we enjoy a glass of wine at home before heading out so we never missed having alcohol on the menu. But you're welcome to bring your own if you'd like. I'll be honest--the location next to a gas station does not exactly beckon you inside. But don't let that fool you. Once you experience Banu, you'll be hooked--as we are. When we next host a large group for Mediterranean food, Banu will be our FIRST call. We cannot recommend it highly enough. Kudos to the entire team. We're rooting for this gem!

The appetizers were a great start, but the real stars were the chicken, beef, and lamb entrées. For a first visit, Banu left an impression that's hard to forget. We'll absolutely be back--and if you haven't been yet, trust us: you won't regret it.
