    Blue pasta. What is this??
    Nathan J.

I just got home from the hospital. My wonderful aunt wanted to do something nice for me and ordered food for me and my girlfriend. I blindly ate some of the food without thinking anything of it. With my girlfriend sorting through it we found blue pasta. Not pasta that was blue all the way through, just pieces that had streaks of blue through it. I would recommend anyone to to stay absolutely as far away from this food as possible. I do not think we'll be eating anything that my aunt bought us unfortunately. I feel horrible wasting her money like that but this is unacceptable. Disgusting. Horrifying. Worst food ever.

    The "South Philly"

This is a great little Italian shop located about a 1/4 mile away from my job. Every time I wanted to go in here it has always been packed with customers picking up orders, or orders being put in with a line that you wouldn't believe. The lunch rush is crazy , so this tells you theses guys know what they are doing and my patience growing thinner with every passing day, I was not going to go to Primo's today . I finally got to experience a T'Dori sandwich, seeing I had left my house earlier with this place in mind with nothing to stop me. Good call on my part I felt because I had just missed the lunch rush , and now theses guys were getting ready for their dinner rush . Their menu looks unbelievably good with all these dishes they make so I know I will be looking forward to more meals to come. After about 5 minutes of just salivating thinking should I go with a Veal parm dish, a Chicken parm dish, or go with one of their great sandwich's i keep on hearing about. I went with one of their best sellers called " The South Philly" this hoagie was ..Amazingly Ginormous! The roll they used was excellent, this wasn't an Amoroso roll either, just flat out good. This COLOSSAL hoagie was filled with .. ready... prosciutto, salami sharp provolone, another ham, roasted peppers, with oil and balsamic vinegar all for $ 7.00. I couldn't finish this work of art in one sitting, I had to eat half take a break and come back to it later. Eating a well packed sandwich like this you have to think of it as a marathon, not a race to finish quickly. Make sure you have plenty of napkins on standby when eating one of their hoagies, because you will need it with all the juices from the peppers that collide with marinated onions , the oil and balsamic.. the fresh tomatoes mixed in there. It is a great meal when you're still eating while licking your fingers at the same time. This again is a great deli, great group of guys back there making your meals, friendly staff to add. They also have dishes you can purchase to go , so when you get home throw that plate of deliciousness in the oven , get your wine ready, have a movie ready to go and enjoy. What makes this even better for me I don't have to fight a line anymore, or worry about the time with their delivery service they offer. What can be better than that, I can say good bye to the other spot a few doors up with their over priced sandwich's **cough Primo's cough ** In all great spot, with a great crew behind the counter.

    Caesar salad and Chicken Marsala

I drove from South Philly to get T'Dori takeout and let me tell you. Momma Mia! It was hands down the best Italian food I've ever had! Portion for Chicken Marsala was enough for 2 meals. It also came with bread sticks, pasta (I got angel hair in red sauce) soup (Tomato Florentine) and a salad. I substituted Caesar. Delish! Would recommend to those skeptics who swear by only their Granny's gravy and meatballs. Courtney is always so pleasant when I pick up and I just adore Lou. Price is right and my dinner is always on point.

Alfredo sauce? And what's with the pepper and crap?

The meatballs were bland and tasted as if they were reheated from frozen. The pasta was overcooked and mushy. Not true Italian cuisine.

We really liked the atmosphere too. We ate the aracinis for an appetizer and for entrees we had the short rib pasta and the salmon. We would definitely come back. The one suggestion I have though is to have at least one high chair on hand. Our three year old could manage on the normal chairs but the table was a little high for her.

But then when I was looking up their burger week menu I came across the valentines menu and it looked good, so I figured I would give it try. My husband's dinner was alot better than mine so I was eating some of his, even though we always share anyway. He got the oysters with a dragonfruit sauce and they were good. I ordered crab and corn soup with grilled focaccia bread. The soup itself was fine , but it was only half a bowl and not much crab in it. I would have liked more soup instead of the bread. I gave the bread to my husband because we got a good amount of bread for the appetizer and I didn't want to fill up too much. I probably should have ordered the calamari instead , that looked pretty good. My husband's scallops with risotto was very good. Seared perfectly, creamy risotto, good flavor. Normally that is what I like to order, but I got the crab pasta because I love crab. I was disappointed In this dish. The crab tasted a little too fishy like it went bad or something. I also got a number of shells in the crab I had to spit out. I feel like they could have mixed the crab with some kind of seasoning or flavors. It seemed like they just dumped the crab right out of the can into the pasta and didn't even clean the shells out first. And they didn't even put the pasta in any kind of sauce. I would have liked maybe a creamy sauce with it. The pasta was just in like a watery garlic broth, and it broke apart and crab went all in the water and I didn't even have a spoon to pick it up. Dessert was ok. I'm glad we got the dragonfruit cheesecake instead of the chocolate cake, it was refreshing . The tiramisu wasn't bad but it was still somewhat frozen. I was kind of surprised because we are fans of the Pieri group restaurants. We have been to their sister restaurant Stonerose for burger week for a number of years now and love it. We also came to burger week at bar sera the one year and really enjoyed theirs too. I wish they did them separate weeks so we could go to both . Maybe it was just an off night tonite. Sometimes valentines menus aren't as good as their regular menu. Maybe we learned our lesson to go out the week before valentines instead for next year.

Greeted warmly on a cold day we were seated in main room. Comfortable and not noisy but lots of activity around us. Started with some Golden Fried Artichokes and they were plentiful and crispy good. We ordered the International Cheese Trolley and were given choices for the cheeses. Each was very tasty and the board was complimented with some fruits and nuts. Dad had the Beet & Citrus Salad and the portion was perfect and he enjoyed it. He then had Braised Short Rib and it was a very large portion and he said melted in his mouth. I had the Day Boat Scallops and they were healthy portions (see pic), down right savory and were grilled perfectly. Others had the Faroe Island Salmon and it was cooked wonderfully and was a good portion. For dessert I had a Pumpkin Tiramisu that was very creamy and dad had a Carmel Crunch Brownie he loved. Drinks were also done well. This is a fine meal in a fine environment and a classic.
