Fairly decent boba place in a convenient location, open at convenient times, and is small but efficient. If nothing else, this place (and the connecting Queen House restaurant) is one of the places that are open during the holidays/when everything else is closed. Specifically, for us, they were open during the New Years weekend. This is one of those places that feels like the entirety of the Asian and Asian-American community just KNOWS about. Tucked along Castro Street in Mountain View, they are connected to Queen House Restaurant next door and get a good deal of foot traffic on their own. Usually more than the physical shop can handle. Would NOT suggest bringing a big group here to hang out and chat, it just doesn't have the room. I've been there a couple of times, and it's not unusual to squish yourself against the wall as you wait for your drink or wait outside as one person in your party does all the ordering, just because there's THAT MANY people inside. As most people have already said, REMEMBER TO BRING CASH. It's definitely one of those places you stop by, pick up a drink, and continue strolling down Castro Street with said drink. Great thing though is that when you sit down to eat at Queen House, the entirety of the Tea Era menu is also available. To be fair, you do have to go order and pick it up yourself, but the areas are connected to each other and they let you bring it in and drink. It's just a little thing to do while you wait for your food. For the most part, I do feel like Tea Era's menu is more skewed towards an Asian taste? This is the place to go if you're used to and like more Asian flavors. For sure, my parents found a lot of flavors they were surprised to see and familiar with. I also REALLY like that there is an option to get the teas hot or cold. Seeing as my mom and aunts prefer their tea drinks warmer, they really got into it. The one thing though, is that we've generally found that their level of sweet leans towards too sweet. And I LIKE and PREFER sweet, but I couldn't drink more than an 1/8 of the mango green tea (50% sweet because I had let my younger brother order and he will do whatever he can to get revenge). I'd highly suggest 25% or ask specifically for which options are non-sweet. But this is just a personal preference. I think they do GREAT FRUIT JUICES when they're seasonally available. Picking up a cup of watermelon juice during the summer is really the best. XD It's decent and a-okay, just not really to my taste. The point being, if you're shopping or eating somewhere along Castro street, and are in the mood for a drink (to cool down, to slack your thirst, for dessert, or just have something to eat during your stroll), Tea Era has a lot of options. The cheapest boba drinks I have seen in the bay!! I was shocked at how cheap the drinks were, all starting around $3.25. My small size drink with boba came out to only $4. Amazing. This is a simple, no frills shop which I appreciated since a lot of boba shops try too hard to be hip and fancy with the drinks and decor. The menu is extensive and can be hard to decide what to get. This place is cash only! I got the barley milk tea and it was pretty good. I did feel like the sweetness of the boba was a bit overpowering, and was glad I got 50% sweet for my drink. I think the drink would've been better if the boba was less sweet. It's locates in downtown Mountain View so you'll need to look for street parking. It's centrally located and nice to walk around on a sunny day. The store is tiny but there are seats outside to sit.
