Really disappointing. My husband and I came for a date night before the ballet. We had been to the Mount Adams location years ago and loved it. Our server was new and there were some issues there, but that wouldn't be a big deal if the food was good. When we ordered, our food came out so fast we were surprised, but somehow it was not hot temperature-wise or spicy like we asked. I had the tofu pad Thai and it was the worst pad Thai I've ever had, sickly sweet and bland. My husband's holy basil fried rice was just okay. Service, ambience, safety protocols... all excellent. I ordered the Mussels appetizer, expecting a small portion for the $9 price. Instead I got a large order of mussels that were clearly from frozen, as they had that distinct mushy texture. While the sauce was flavorful and spicy, 3 shells were broken and again, the mussels were previously frozen. I ordered a $5 local craft beer, which was from a 12oz can. Nice price. I recommend spending $7 on the draft beer, because the glasses are more than a pint...probably 20oz. My husband's order was messed up, because he accidentally SAID what he DIDN'T want, and pointed to the item he wanted. Neither of us are bell pepper fans, so when he got the thing he DIDN'T want, he didn't speak up. When the bill came, we realized what happened, so honestly, that's a lot our fault. At least we saved $3! Looking at other items that people got, I'm pretty sure we just ordered the wrong things. With that said, I recommend trying this place. They had dividers between all the tables, the wait staff all wore masks the whole time, and the ambience is great! read more

I had avoided Thai in Cincinnati for a long time knowing it probably wouldn't compare to my favorites back "home" in California, but I bought the hype when I saw how excited everyone was to see this place open again. This is the blandest Thai food I have ever had...and not cheap, either! Seafood Delight ($19): not a delight. Did not know salmon could even be this tasteless - as if frozen Kroger salmon had been boiled in salt water and served. The sauce was watery and all settled at the bottom - even after a good stir, it didn't really stick to the fish or vegetables. Spicy Shrimp Salad ($16): When I say this wasn't spicy, I don't mean it wasn't spicy enough for me...I mean there was literally no detectable spice at all in this dish. This was basically lightly-pan-fried shrimp on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce with stale cashews. Carrot and edamame were included in the description of the dish but there was none of the former and a pitiful few of the latter. Delivery only available through DoorDash (not available on Postmates/Uber Eats when I tried to order) = $47 total for this crap delivered. 2 stars because the portions were ok and at least it wasn't greasy? Went to Teak on Saturday for the first time with friends for dinner. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. It was very busy so would definitely recommend a reservation beforehand! The staff was so prompt and courteous, our food came out so quickly (it was wild). They have a very extensive menu of drinks, including alcoholic and teas. They also have a large menu of sushi rolls, curries, stir fries, soups, seafoods. You name it, they have it. Sometimes I get nervous with such an extensive menu but everyone loved their food, so they are definitely doing something well. We ordered a rainbow sushi roll as an app (delicious). I ordered the eggplant tofu stir fry. It was absolutely delicious, the eggplant was phenomenal. You can choose the spice level of food from 3-10. One of our friends who loves spicy foods ordered a 5, but hers ended up being exceptionally spicy so be warned, maybe go low to start! We all had plenty of food for leftovers. The prices are completely reasonable, in the range of $14-18 for most of the entrees. The whole table shares a bowl of rice (with plenty of refills), which worked out so well. My friends all ordered different curries which were also AMAZING. Truly, you can't go wrong here. read more

I visited during a business trip with a colleague who was local to the area. She recommended Teak as a great place for Thai food. She was spot on!! We stopped there for lunch. Nokki was our server and was very attentive. My colleague had the chicken with coconut milk soup along with chicken pad thai. She ended up taking most of it home. A great value at $11. I had the seafood delight which came with shrimp, salmon, imitation crab and mussels. It was also delicious. At a heat of 6 or 7, not too spicy either. Great service and great menu! There was a lot to choose from so I will definitely be coming back. I got the ginger fried salmon dish and the "thaiphoon" drink - both delicious! As someone who can't handle spice, I appreciate their customizable hot levels!! We didn't make reservations for a Saturday night but everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating, and we ended up snagging a spot at the bar. Pros: The restaurant was crowded, but we were able to be seated immediately at the bar, which was nice. The server was attentive to us and checked back with us often. A glass of wine and a Vodka tonic were reasonably priced. Cons: The Alaskan sushi roll was bland, underwhelming, and based on the temperature of the roll, it seemed as if it had been sitting out for longer than needed. The Spicy Fried Noodles ($14.00) were also underwhelming. The noodles were skimpy; there were just as many onions as there were noodles. The peppers were undercooked, the flavor was bland. There were a lot of scrambled eggs in the dish. It was as if they were hoping to fool the patron by disguising the lack of noodles with adding extra scrambled egg. If I wanted that much scrambled eggs, I would have gone to a breakfast diner. (I've made a similar dish at home and to be honest, mine is way better). The wait time for service was long. It took over thirty minutes to serve one dish of Spicy Fried Noodles. It was not worth the wait. The total for two drinks, one Alaskan Sushi Roll, and one dish of Spicy Fried Noodles totaled $38.80 (not including the 20% tip). I was glad we were not famished and had decided to just share these, because if we each ordered separately, it would have totaled north of $90.00 with tip, and it was definitely not worth the ticket price. In summary, the servers were great, the drinks were priced appropriately, the food was underwhelming, the wait time to be served was long. I'm glad I tried the Teak OTR so I know what this place is about, but we won't be going back. read more

We had a wonderful meal at Teak in OTR. We started with the Dim Sum dumplings. Wow how delicious and just the right portion for two. Then we had the spring rolls, so crispy and flavorful. The main course was the fried salmon. This was such a different preparation, so tasty. Can't wait to return next time and try more of the dishes. Yummy!!! Took away from Teak today. I would rate the food at 3.5, but rounding down for inconsistencies in curries description. The website is up to date and the latest menus were listed accurately. They made every effort to allow for a safe dine-in experience, masks, distanced tables separated with plastic dividers etc. The interior was nice. However, I was in a hurry and wanted to grab and go. They accept take away orders via phone only, no online ordering. Making a call was quick and the Staff were extra nice and helpful. The order was ready on time and neatly packed upon my arrival. I tried the crispy duck, that comes on a bed of veggies, with a side of rice and extra brown sauce. This was the best out of the three meals I took. Something I would order again. I also tried the red curry with chicken and the chicken Panaeng curry. The curries come at 3-10 spice level, but I must say, for me even the minimal 3 was HOT :o Bearable, but not exactly mild. The curries are generously portioned and have a delicate coconutty creaminess to them. However, the first surprise came when I opened the boxes. I ordered a red curry, which is listed without any green peas, but there were a lot of green peas in mine. Per their descriptions, I might have actually gotten the green curry by mistake, which has the same veggies as red +peas. I am a bit puzzled. The curry was spicy and had a lot of surprising lemony aroma, which was nice at first, but became overwhelming in the end. Not my fav. The Paneang curry was supposed to be made with Kaffir lime leaves. I am not familiar with this ingredient, but did not detect any lime notes. Instead, it had a faint flavor of brine from pickled cornichons, that made it taste not fresh to me. Kind of weird and I will not be re-ordering this one. Also, the description of this one was vague when it comes to what veggies are included, but mine came with sweet potato, green beans and broccoli. I cannot attest to the authenticity of the food, as I never visitted Thailand and am not ashamed to admit that my palate is based on Americanized Thai cuisine, heavy on sweet coconut milk and peanut butter :D I am happy to see the beautiful Thai restaurant right in the heart of OTR and even though my subjective experience was not a five-star, I will come back for the duck and to try the sushi! read more

Usually when I order veggie pad Thai I have to order extra veggies because it tends to be mostly noodles with a few veggies. Not here. Torn. Really torn. I've been looking for a higher quality sushi spot to be a regular at here in Cincinnati and I was really hoping this would be it but my experience with one of the staff members left a sour taste in my mouth and honestly changed my entire dining experience. Even more torn because there was one other employee that tried to help and the individual helping me was rude to him too. I placed a decent sized pick up order over the phone. The server repeated the order back perfectly (even with my 5+ sauce requests). You know me and my family's sauce thing. Order was ready quickly and we went to pick it up, did not check because it was a big order and it sounded like they confirmed. That's on me. When I got home there were two extra items we did not order and all of the sauces were missing. Teak is close so I called to bring back the extras and pick up the sauce because my family can't eat without it (I know, ha). When I get there, with an extra tip, I'm ignored completely by 3 servers and when I finally got someone's attention he was rude to me and made it sound like my fault when I was already clearly annoyed. He then told me it was going to be $1 per sauce, which adds up but I thought they would be big containers. They were just normal 2 oz. ones so I won't be doing that next time. I was so excited to try this spot because it's close to home and I'm just extremely disappointed in the way I was treated. I went to teak and I was not disappointed. There is not many quality sushi places in the Cincinnati area but this one was great. They have a large varieties of rolls to choose from and they are all very unique. They also have a huge menu of Thai food and I will definitely be going back to try all of that. I got the coconut soup because it is one of my favorite things and it hit the spot. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! It is also super cute inside and they have up blockers for Covid-19 and they ask you to wear your mask. read more

My sister-in-law and I started with the spring rolls and they were good, fresh with a tasty dipping sauce. My husband got a papaya salad which he said was fine but nothing too special. Then the entrees came out. I got the Chicken Satay and it was not good. It was very dry and unseasoned I went through an entire dipping sauce trying to make one skewer edible. My brother and sister-in-law both got chicken pad tai which they said was fine but that the chicken was also extremely dry. Neither my husband or I could remember the exact dish he got but it had dry chicken as well and the sauce was just hot not necessarily flavorful. I was craving a noodle dish so I stopped by this place. Unfortunately my experience wasn't good. I tried to call to order for pickup. No one picked up the phone. I walked in to order for take out and the wait was 40 mins. I pointed to the dish that I wanted on the menu, it was the spicy fried noodles. 40 mins later, I was grabbed my food, drove all the way home and I realized that I was given stir fried veggies. Not the same restaurant as the old days in Mt Adams. I used to be a frequent customer of the restaurant visiting 1-2 times a week and to the point where I would call and without saying a word, they would know my order and have it ready in 20 minutes. My favorite dishes in the olden days were the crispy duck, golden shrimp, and the shrimp pad Thai. The food was always so authentic and you could tell it was a family business - you could see all the Thai family members working both the kitchen and the table services. The original management was so amazing. I was very excited for the resurrection of this beloved Mt Adams establishment - it was too long since I enjoyed a Teak takeout and shaking hands with my old friends. Although the establishment looks modern and sleek, the food was only a resemblance of what it once was. The crispy duck was very salty and lacked the crispness of the old dishes. They removed one of their best dishes, Golden Shrimp from the menu and when I asked about the dish they were unaware of the original menu item. The pad Thai was average and did not have the same amazing flavor and texture of the past. It was the first week of opening, so maybe there is more time required to ramp up the kitchen -- however, I implore the restaurant management to go back to the basics - good, authentic Thai cuisine. On a side note, the bar staff and host was extremely friendly and attentive. I was treated very well all throughout the experience and I'm sure a dine in experience would have resulted in some added experience. Once the pandemic is over, I will definitely be dining in person to get the full experience. Hopefully by then my Golden Shrimp will be back on the menu :) read more

Wanted to really like this place as I know they had another location in Mt. Adams at on point, but I couldn't. Sushi was ok, not breathtaking but not bad at all. Spring rolls were also just ok, tasted pretty bland along with the dipping sauce. Ginger salad was not good. Menu says it comes with tomatoes, well mine didn't. Dressing does not taste like ginger at all. It's actually kind of tart. Wouldn't order that again. Waited almost 40 minutes for my lunch entree on a day when they were not very busy at all. Couldn't of been more than 7 people in the restaurant. Not sure what the wait was but boy was I even more disappointed once my entree came out! The cashew chicken looks better than it tastes. Lacked overall flavor, seemed as of nothing had any seasoning, traditional or American! The rice was cooked well, vegetables not overdone but no flavor. Who eats flavorless food?! Overall I wouldn't recommend. There are plenty of better Thai places nearby such as Thai Express in Clifton (actual Thai women cooks the food there) Lemon Grass in Hyde Park, Green Papaya, and Bangock Bistro. My roommate and I were super excited about finally having a Thai restaurant downtown. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't great. When trying to order, the person on the phone had a super tough time hearing and we had to repeat the order about 5 times. When she attempted to order 1 item directly off the menu, they didn't know what it was. I ordered the Thai Safari Noodles that was supposed to have chicken, shrimp and pork belly. It had 2 shrimp and 3 pieces of pork belly. It was great flavor but I'd expect more for $19. My roommate ordered the seafood delight but was given the shrimp vegetable meal instead and they didn't provide the side of rice. We'll probably stick with somewhere else next time. read more
