My first ever visit and game here. If you carry a 15 handicap or lower this course pretty much is a friendly, no surprises, easy to play track. It's rather spread out over a large plot of land. I originally contemplated walking the course, it's pancake fat, but nursing a lower back injury and not feeling 100% I decided to ride. Glad that I did. There are long stretches between the putting greens and the next tee box. I estimate that a total walk would be about 8,500 yards. Course conditions are okay, not pristine. Putting greens rolled about 10 on the Stimp scale. Fairways are mowed adequately. If your ball does end in the trees / rough, it's usually pretty easy to find. Though some fairways are lined with painful thorn filled blackberry bushes, just like most golf courses in northern California. If you are wearing shorts you won't be crawling through the stickers to retrieve your ball. For a senior golfer during the week the green fee is $52. Not a bargain, but this is the going price at many of the other courses in the metro Sacramento / Placer county region. I did enjoy the game here. Did I like it more than the Cherry Island municipal course located in Elverta (12 minute drive from here)? Probably not. Cherry Island layout is more interesting and more challenging. read more

This is my first time playing Teal Bend but my friend has played many times and recommended we go. We came early to hit some balls on the range before our tee time. The range was grass and in decent condition. We booked a late tee time and expected only to end up finishing 9 holes before it got dark. It was the perfect amount of time for a quick round. We had one group in front of us that moved fast and no one behind us. It was serene and peaceful without people stacked up! My fav! The greens were in good condition and the grounds are beautiful with all the trees and wide fairways. There was a ton of deer on the course but didn't seem to be bothered with us at all. I loved that aspect of the round. We booked online and had a discount code thru Golf Now so it was $65 for both of us including a cart. Not bad for a quick and late round. We didn't have any food from the restaurant but did order a margarita and beer before we headed out for the round. Pro shop employees were friendly and brought our cart around when we were done checking in. Overall it is a great course and will be back! read more

Only reason it gets two stars is because the practice area and driving range. The course itself was in terrible condition with rock hard ground. The greens were so firm you couldn't make a divot and when you landed on them you bounced off 10 yards. And the absolute worse part was pin placement. I don't know who the grounds keeper is who set the pin location but it was ridiculous. I'm talking mid slope pins. Pins in the valley of the green, or pins on the top of a slope. Horrible. read more

Great service very helpful the course was tough but in good co dictions despite the winter we just had. Definitely need to play here more often with its proximity to my location and god rates. The course is in a pretty cool location off of Garden Hwy and it's beautiful. The staff was super friendly and helpful but the MOSQUITOES are out of control over there. It was a bit rough trying to hit the balls and enjoy the DRIVING RANGE while being eaten by the mosquitoes. A bucket of balls is $6 for 35 or $11 for 70. I didn't see any beers for sale in the shop to take out to the range so I'm not sure if that's an option. PARKING: private parking lot with lots of spots available. The reason I gave them a 4 rating is because the staff was great, the driving range is great, and the course is beautiful. I'd recommend that you bring bug spray and you should be all good. read more

I really enjoy playing here but over the years it gets more and more frustrating. Great layout and close to downtown Sac. Could be a diamond in the rough but it needs help and better business practices. You never know when the snack bar aka grill is open or closed. They sometimes close early and even 6 is too early in the summertime. People tee off til 5pm and they close shop early. At least tell people ahead of time or place a sign. Basic communication would help. We just played and grill was closed before 4pm. I understand it's Mother's Day but tell us before we tee off. No cart person means no liquid drinks of any sort during 4.5 hours of being outside. Fairways are never the best conditions. Putting off the greens can be like plinko due to patchy grass. Bunkers need true sand and not sand / gravel mixtures. A full time starter and Marshall would be awesome too. Pace of play can be bad at times. It's like Harding cats sometimes. Positives. Convenient to Sac locals, fun place, good greens and friendly staff. Sorry not sorry. Just being honest. This course should be a Sacramento Gem! Straight monopoly. read more

This is my husbands favorite course. I don't play so I'm only repeating what he says: "Drains well. Greens are always in great condition. Rates are some of the best around. Play is always on pace." I've been to Teal Bend several times and have enjoyed my rounds there because it is a beautiful course that is about 5 minutes from SMF airport. This last time we went on a Saturday morning in early September on a hot but beautiful day. I had to rent clubs because I didn't want to tow my golf bag around the airports but Teal Bend had some pretty nice clubs for rent. The weekend rate with the club rental was $115, not bad for a nice course. I found the course challenging but enjoyed being in the beautiful surroundings. There are wildlife such as squirrels and deer running about. We were paired with another twosome and really enjoyed their company. Teal Bend is my first choice of courses when coming to Sacramento. read more

Yes, occasionally there's the jet fumes on hole 16, mosquitos, seasonal lady bugs... but fairways and greens are well maintained and usually in great shape. Great wildlife sighting too. Staff and groundskeepers are super friendly. Nice day of golf, if you ask me. But a bad day of golf is better then doing the laundry. read more

First time playing out here which the course is in decent shape, pro shop and golf staff were very polite, but the kitchen staff absolutely needs work on customer service and attention to detail. Girl at the counter completely fumbled my order after confirming the order back to me has me confused. They proceed to give our food to another party (who ordered after us) and still no one comes to inform us about the mix but after waiting 45 minutes or so we get 2 sandwiches. Pretty decent place to play. Was there yesterday and it was quite busy. Strange for an afternoon. All was going well during my round until my golf cart died on the 3rd hole. Had to push it back to cart path from the fairway. Those carts are hefty to move on grass. Any way they got me a replacement cart somewhat fast but the round was kinda ruined because of that. Would have been nice to get my fees compted for the dead cart. Wasn't offered anything for the issue. Greens were pretty rough with divots all over the place. People weren't fixing their dents like they should have. Overall good course but needs some help in various areas. Glad I had a twilight tee time and didn't pay full fees. read more

Driving range is full of sand, zero grass. Stopped coming here over two years ago due to poor conditions and over pricing for what you were getting. I was hoping that with what they have been charging they were putting some money back into the course, I was wrong. I played golf at Teal Bend yesterday with my husband and son. Craig in the pro shop was very accommodating since my son was running late. He greeted me by my name when I walked into check-in. He was very welcoming. The course is in great shape. I played the ladies combo tees. It was challenging and fun. Some of the par 4's are difficult to reach in regulation. The greens are holding which makes it fun to play. The price was great for a day round, including cart. They have great food there also. All in all, it was a delightful day at Teal Bend! read more

This is a great course. I played here on a Tuesday afternoon . Our group teed off at twilight and played at a decent rate of play. The course is set up beautifully. It is a challenging course that rewards well played shots. There are a few shorter par 4 holes that make you want to be aggressive. The par 5 holes are fun. A few dog legs and well placed trees and bunkers. The greens were in great shape. They have subtle undulation and yet still roll true. The snack bar is great. Please call them from the 9th tee box so your food is ready. I had a hot dog and a beer. The hot dog was delicious. They cook it on a flat top grill. The bun was toasted. I loaded it up with all the fixings. One cool thing is all the planes landing and taking off all around you. The noise is not distracting. The planes give this course some personality. I will be back in the spring. read more

I have not played golf in years but it looks like I'll be off to the pro shop to buy a set of new clubs. I came out here on a week day and played 18 holes with my boss and a few fellow coworkers one of which was on his way out the door because he is retiring. Actually he'll come back as a retarded irritant and ride the gravy train but that's another story. (FYI retarded irritants are actually called retired annuitants basically they are retired state workers that are rehired in the state system so they can double dip) it's a elevated state of welfare haha jk don't judge me! Back to the review. I actually had fun even though my musculature does not support a graceful putting swing. The course here is beautiful and the customer service was great. We ate at the clubhouse afterward and the food was actually decent. In addition you can also order food on the course. Overall the price for 18 holes was very reasonable. I think I paid like 45 bucks. Long story short because this course is really close to Sac International Airport, next time I have a late flight I'm gonna hit this spot up and play a few rounds before I leave. The Marshal is a real pain in the a**. Second time I've played here and both times he was circling us on every hole. We're 10-20 handicappers, but we are out there to improve like everyone else. We stayed right at the pace of play time suggestion they had posted on carts and still he wanted us to move along faster since there was a hole open ahead of us. Mind you not at no point did we look back and see a group waiting on us. 4 times he came and stopped us, even sending out the course pro to talk to us and recommend skipping a hole. Remind you nobody waiting on us or we would have really sped up. The time waisted stopping us, plus the food we ordered at beginning of hole 8 was not ready (20+ minutes for 4 hot dogs?) and still we finished at 4:40 when they suggest 3:32. I'll never come back there. Every other hole the fairways were horrible and each green was either hard or soft, fast or slow. People say always windy there. Avoid this place and stay in the greater Sacramento area. read more

Fellow golfers are very courteous and have good etiquette when play is a bit slow. There is always special rates to accommodate everyone's needs. Great job Teal Bend!!! read more

Just visited the course this week to celebrate my birthday with three other family and friends. For the as long as I can recall we go there for our birthdays. When I made the reservation a little over one and a half weeks in advance, I even mentioned the birthday deal and was never advised they have discontinued this special. Apparently the ownership was changed but somehow is still owned by the same owners just decided to get out of some Group they belonged and now do not offer this special. Too bad that was the reason we make the drive multiple times a year. I guess we will be going elsewhere from here on. GOOD BYE forever..... read more

I will never golf here again. I have never been spoken to before by a marshal with so much disrespect. It was literally mind blowing. We were playing and not keeping up with the group in front of us BUT we had no pressure from the group behind we saw the group in front of us 2x in the front 9 and never saw the group behind. (Also it was foggy in the morning. Like can't see where the ball ends up foggy as is usual for this course in the winter) we were told on the 6th or 7th hole to try and keep up with the group in front of us. Then on the 9th hole we were given an ultimatum by the marshal! You read that correctly. We would have to tee it up in the middle of the fairway on 10 or play a scramble on the back 9 because we were 15min behind (again with never seeing the group behind us) the marshal was incredibly rude treating us like children meanwhile holding us up. It was at this time one in our group did get a little aggressive it was a little over the top but he did his best to hold it back while being treated like a child from the marshal. I have played a lot of golf and have played slow and fast and I have been asked to speed up. I have never been told how to play or that I have to do something other than be aware we are behind and speed up. This marshal led an example that will be burned in my memory of how NOT to Treat customers. read more

I loved this course. It's very player friendly . It's good for different levels. The interesting layout does not have any Tees facing each other. When you Tee Off you are not perhaps miss hitting into another on coming player. It is a wonderful old school course. Very laid back and friendly . The range is strictly grass . There is a large area for chipping and pitching. The putting area is large . It close to the airport but I did not hear much jet noise. It's fun to turn around and see Southwest taking off. The food and restaurant serves great meals and snacks . Excellent course to practice and even better to play. Very well kept . read more

Horrible experience today. Went in and ordered food at 1 pm didn't get it till 145. Then started playing the course at our tee time and were well beyond pace of play. We had to wait to tee off on every hole due to the groups in front of us. The Course Marshall followed behind us on every shot and made the afternoon horrible. She tried to send us up to tee off on a par 3, when the group was on the green. They scheduled a tournament for that afternoon and had kids going into the tee box as we were teeing off. Carts with people along the fairway. This was absolutely not worth the money they charged. This is what I expect if I go to executive course not an 18 charging the rates that they did. read more

I used to like going and maybe I'll return but not on a holiday weekend.. Labor Day Monday I invited 2- friends from out of town It was a busy golf day but once on the course this group following us were jerks !! We got stuck with a guy which was ok he was cool , but we wished us 3 were alone since we wanted to be alone to visit somewhat Anyway on hole 3 we let a the team of guys behind us pass bc we had to use the bathroom except for the guy with us he waited on hole 4 ..we got back and this other team behind them thought we had cut in and we didn't .. we asked them if they wanted to go through 2x and they said no your fine .. so we golfed away We get to hole 5 and the Marshall Larry tell us we're too slow we need to get it in gear& done other words !! We told him we told the guys behind us to pass us but they refused , Larry didn't care he just wanted us to hurry up Well we paid just as them We offered them a chance to get ahead This isn't a race , we're here to enjoy ourselves So we hurried up and after 9 we stopped had lunch and those same jerks came in the restaurant after us making comments about us My visiting friends said wow this place sucks let's just leave and not finish So I'm sad that this gave them a bad image of this course .. I'll guess we will be golfing somewhere else read more
