A couple of years ago, our son needed and asked for more challenge in basketball, so we checked out AAU teams. Our older son's previous coach (who moved out of the Bay Area) recommended Coach Rodel. We're glad that we signed our son up with Team Elite Basketball. Coach Rodel has been coaching our son for almost 2 years now and it has been great! Coach Rodel made sure that he got to know our family and our son in and out of basketball, and use that knowledge to develop him. He even watched our son play at his school basketball and gave feedback to my son during his regular basketball training. We love how much opportunity Coach Rodel gives our son. He encourages our son to push for more and up to his maximum ability. For example, our son is good in defending the ball and driving the ball, but hesitates in driving in and making the shot. My son is 11 and really enjoys Team Elites program! They have alot of practices and sometimes scrimmages throughout the week which keeps the kids excited and always moving. Coach Rodel is great when talking with the kids and knows how to keep their attention which isn't something that's easy. We have tournaments throughout the bay area usually around 2 times a month and it's fun to explore the cities we drive too. If your kid is a beginner or wants to learn but nervous this is a good place to join since the practices are so frequent during the week and will help them progress practice after practice. Coach Rodel will work w/ you and your child. I reached out initially because I can see Gavin needed help w/ his basketball during the summer. We were only going to the park when my schedule allows. I was not able to make this work. I am grateful to have Gavin because he is understanding and doesn't expect me to be able to do everything I wish I could. I go into the office 2-3x a week now. He started junior high and is at school until 5:30. What little time we have left after I pick him up is dedicated to dinner, homework, and reading. 5/5 I highly recommend Team Elite for all basketball players, not matter their skill level! This is our third basketball program we have been a part of, and within a matter of weeks my boys have grown leaps and bounds not just with their basketball skills but also their confidence. Coach Rodel not only teaches the fundamentals and how to understand and play the game the right way, he also takes time to know each players strength and weaknesses. He also takes time to chat with all the parents. He shares his knowledge and experience of the game, which in turn helps each player understand what to do during certain situations. Like I mentioned, my boys have been in programs where the progress has been minimal and coaches teach, but do not evaluate kids closely enough to ensure they are doing things correctly. Coach Rodel is patient with all the players but also stern! If a player is not doing things correctly or is just going through the motions, he makes it a point to let them know and has the player run the drill until it's is done correctly. We have only been with Coach Rodel and Team Elite for a little over 6 weeks, and I am excited to see how much my boys can continue to grow and excel! Along side from practices, Coach Rodel also invites kids of all skill levels to open group practice several times a week. I reached out to Coach Rodel for some training sessions this summer for my 13 year old. Over 8 workouts coach worked on improving my sons dribble moves to create more space for jump shots and driving to the hoop more aggressively. They also worked on jump shots both off the dribble and catch and shoot.. Coach was able to push my son harder than I could get him to work on his own. Within 3 weeks I noticed significant improvement in my sons ability to hit pull up jumpers and to learn how to practice harder to get the most out of his training time. Coach is a great mentor to the kids. He is respectful but gives honest feedback to the kids that they take in well. We also were able to join group sessions on the weekends where my son got to compete against other kids. I highly recommend Team Elite for anyone looking to up their game. We found Team Elite through a friend of ours, and my son has enjoyed playing and learning under the tutelage of Coach Rodel over the past 3 months. In addition, another friend of ours have been in his program since their son started playing basketball. Team Elite is the only program that we found that offers 1.5 hour practices 5-6 times a week. I am a believer that getting as many reps/practices/games as much as you can will grow your game. All of the other programs that we looked into only offers 1 to 1.5 hour practices, 2 times a week. I have and would supplement that with practices at the park or at the YMCA on the off days. In short, the 1.5 hour practices 5-6 times a week works for my son and I. In addition, my son plays in 3 to 4 games on the weekends. The practices are all group exercises/practices, so you have kids as young as 5 y/o to high schoolers participating. My son enjoys going up against the bigger/older kids...it's a challenge that he embraces. Coach Rodel does a good job of separating the younger and older kids during practice. Some of the older reviews mentioned one-on-one training before the pandemic. That is something that should be re-incorporated. Possibly establishing defined teams and conducting team practices, like offensive plays and team rebounding will help round out the program. read more

Best basketball program around. My boys now 9 and almost 7 years old have been with Team Elite for about a year and a half and their skill and athleticism has gone through the roof. Since it's been almost a full year with Team Elite and Coach Rodel, I figured I'd add some color to share what we've experienced so far. My son's game has transformed/evolved in many ways. He is no longer afraid to take shots, and his court awareness has improved drastically. He is now capable of playing/moving without the ball, which allows him to either free up other players, as well as position himself for an open look. He's always had a pretty decent shot, but with the 1 on 1's he's had with Coach Rodel, he's been able to tweak his follow through a bit to make his stroke more consistent. My son has also had the pleasure of being coached and guided by Coach Willis. He is a huge asset to Team Elite and Coach Rodel's arsenal. Coach Willis is currently in charge of the High School Boys Pre-Season Training. That same passion and fire that I've experienced with Coach Rodel, also stands true with Coach Willis. After every game, he has always made the time to give me feedback on what my son did well, or didn't do so well. That is one thing you will learn with Coach Willis, he will never sugar coat anything. Good or bad, he tells it like it is. For any parent that is well invested in his or her child's basketball path, this is exactly what we hope to get. It is now freshman year for my son, and he will be trying out for his school team. If Team Elite will offer a freshman team/league for the summer, I will sign him up in a heartbeat.
