My weekend schedule is usually pretty hectic. I don't want to waste hours haggling with sales people and the finance manager at a car dealership. In an effort to skip all that, on Thursday evening, I decided to take the TrueCar route and check out the CX-5 inventory in my local area. The trade in value they were going to give us was paltry at best. I did research with other Mazda dealerships and others gave me a much better value. They also gave me a print out of what the car would cost including a higher price than what the car I was interested in. They added two mark ups that are not needed. And when I asked them to call once the car was on the lot that I was looking they just disappeared. No call. No follow up. They were nice enough but really poor sales approach. Too bad. I just leased my third Mazda SUV from Team Mazda in Vallejo and every time, I specifically ask for Samir Childers. That should tell you a lot. I am especially grateful to Samir because he has made the process easier every time. Especially for this year, I expressed to Samir my concern regarding possible exposure to others who may be asymptomatic and may have the COVID virus. So Samir made sure he had everything done and ready for me when I showed up at the dealership for my appointment. He and I dealt mostly via phone a couple of days prior. I really appreciate your patience with all of my questions and your excellent customer service every time! I would have given a perfect score of 5 stars but I did have a couple of issues. I disliked the fact that when I got to Finance to sign the documents, I was "offered" the Gap / Warranty insurance despite specifying that I do not wish to avail of it. However, I ended up getting it anyway because as it was "offered" to me, it was presented like I needed it. Because I was in a hurry to get out of there, I didn't want to discuss it further and prolong the process. I would have preferred that it was not "offered" to me at all since I already said that I did not want it. Also, the documents I signed were given to me on a flash disk. When I arrived home, I wanted to review the documents and discovered that these were inaccessible. I got an error message saying the files were not saved correctly. Worst service I have ever experienced. Darryn was my 1 adjuster. Came in for a warning light regarding traction control. Was told they updated vehicle software that did not fix problem. Was told they needed to replace transmission sensors. They needed to order parts. Called repeatedly to see when parts would arrive. Was told tracking could not find the parts. Parts finally came in weeks later, but INCOMPLETE ORDER. Asked for a loaner vehicle, DENIED! WTF! You could have over-nighted the damn parts. Took 4 weeks to get part order complete! Are you kidding me! Come to find out Darryn no longer working there. Parts finally put in, but it DID NOT FIX the problem. New adjuster Luz. Says I have a blown transmission! Again WTF! 2015 Mazda 3 with 38,000 miles. Unbelievable. Just past 5 year powertrain warranty so I'm stuck with paying for it. Even after 2 service adjusters and 2 mechanics said they have never seen a blown transmission on a vehicle like this. Sounds like a factory defect but they would not back their product. Luz was able to get Mazda corporate to split the cost for the transmission but I was still stuck with paying for all of the prior attempts that did not fix the problem. It is so difficult to get a hold of anyone. You have to leave text messages, call and leave voice message, try to get a live person but no one else knows whats going on. They are either off that day, out to lunch, shop is closed, no mechanics available to answer questions... bottom line, thousands of dollars and over a month without a car to fix a 2015 Mazda 3 BLOWN Automatic Transmission with 38,000 miles. "Safety technology that inspires confidence"..."not building anything less"... What a slogan! read more

If i could give them zero stars I would. In September i purchased a 2017 Mazda Miata from them. I initially wrote a personal check for the purchase down payment, which they accepted. They did not have time to completely detail the car before i left so they asked me to come back the next day. When i came back, they asked me if i might go to the bank and get a cashiers check instead, and they would return my personal check. i complied. A few days later i got the cashiers check back in the mail from them. They had returned it instead of my personal check, and tried to deposit my personal check that was no longer good because of the cashiers check. This caused all sorts of problems at my bank for me. I had to make 2 trips back to the dealership to get his corrected. I told them at the time that incidents like this make me wonder if i should continue to do business with them. About 6 weeks later i needed a SUV and i saw a very nice one advertised here. I went in with a preapproved loan, and purchased the vehicle. It was a used 2014 CX-5. After about 10 weeks i had not received any information from the DMV regarding registration or plates (vehicle had the gaudy yellow DGDG plate holders on it) I called the dealership again and after a few days was told that the DMV had requested additional information that week and i would be getting my plates soon. Now, without any further information i can only assume that the person who submitted the info to the DMV forgot to include some information. (Another error by the accounting/finance office). I got the registration about 2 weeks later, but no plates. I waited 3 more weeks. Still no plates!! I called the dealership again and was informed that the plates might be behind the gaudy DGDG plate already on the vehicle. I went out and found out that the plates were on the vehicle all the time. Well, my problem is that another clerical error led to a approximate 1 month delay in getting my registration, and by not informing me that the plates were on the vehicle at time of purchase, it caused another month delay in having a fully registered vehicle with plates. Well the problem is that i work in an industry where i needed to drive the SUV a few times, which is why i bought it. Well, for one customer i loaded up my SUV and drove to the location, only to be told i was not allowed to drive the SUV into the complex because it did not have plates. I had to drive to a car rental place, rent a SUV and then transfer all the equipment, and drive back to the location. A few weeks later i had to take more equipment to the same location so once again had to rent a vehicle to do so. These instances cost me over $400 and about 5 hours of my time. I also wanted to drive for Lyft during my spare time to make a little extra money. They also require a registration and PLATES!! Well, I waited somewhere between an additional 6-8 weeks to have them both, making it so that i was out of that potential additonal revenue. Even at $300 a week that equates to around $2000. So I am out approximately 5 hours of my time, plus all the time calling the dealer and DMV etc., and about $2400 because they have no clue how to run a car dealership!!! Oh, i called the General Manager again about this, and after leaving him a direct message on his voicemail, and receiving calls from two subordinates, i finally got him on the phone. All he was willing to say was "i'm sorry, maybe i could buy you some gas'. The only way to make me happy is for them to return everything that i gave them, I'll return everything they gave me, and i will never do business with them again. I know that wont happen, they would lose around $12k on that deal, but it is the right thing to do. I hung up on the General Manager after an emphatic GOODBYE!!! read more

You know that horrible feeling you get when you've been had? Well, that's what the Mazda Service depeartment did to me! They completely lied about the needs of my vehicle. I took my car in because my brakes had been squeeking. My car had 50,000 miles on it and I figured it was probably time to have the brake pads replaced. So, I asked for an inspection. Here was they said verbatum, "Boy. You sure were right. Your brakes needed to be replaced like yesterday. Front and back. And your rotars were warped." "Warped? You mean like worn down unevenly? Those are the original manufacturer's brakes. That means Mazda installed them incorrectly." "Uh...no. They're just worned down." "Warped usually means uneven. They are not uneven then?" "No. Just worn." "You mean like the regular wear and tear all brakes put on rotars and smoothing them out is a totally normal part of brake replacement?" "Yeah. That'll cost $950." The conversation above was over the phone. When I got back down to the dealership I asked him for the actual measurements of my brake pads. The service guy avoids my question and pulls out his little green/yellow/red scale. Turns out the rear pads were still in the "green" and the front pad he says were in the yellow. So, he admits I didn't need brakes like "yesterday" but his excuse was...well...all brakes wear at different rates...so that's why I told you to get the rears replaced. Major BSing going on at this point so I decide to take my care elsewere for a second opinion. I found out today that neither the front nor the rears need to be replaced as over half the pads are left on both. They've been making noise due to weather changes. That's $1000 Mazda nearly conned me out of. Thank God this guy's attempt at manipulation was thinly veiled and it warned me to take my car elsewhere. Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I don't do research. Avoid these scammers at all costs...or it will cost you. read more

I called them about a month ago to see if they can make me a second key for my CX-7 and they told me they could but the cost would be $250 for a keyless remote but $140 for a key. Yes, that does sound outrageous but it was a better price than what I was quoted at Hansel Mazda in Santa Rosa. Well, I was a little shock when I arrived and was told the cost was going to $220 for a spare key. I questioned the price but I was advised that their labor prices is subjected to change. First off I should say that the customer service I received from my sales rep Armeen, was absolutely top notch. He was friendly, low pressure and extremely helpful. I can't praise him enough. I would have liked very much to buy a car from him, but the sales manager (I have to assume that's who he was, he did all the negotiation) couldn't even get close to a reasonable price. After visiting twice, I was set on a Mazda 3 Hatchback, picked a color and package and the dealership found one "in the system". I'd done my research, I knew the MSRP and I also knew that edmunds.com's "true cost to own" was about $2500 cheaper than MSRP. So imagine my surprise when the sales manager quoted me a price (before tax and license) about $3000 OVER MSRP! I finally got him down close to sticker and then went home to think about it. When I called back a couple hours later, he'd decided he had to raise the price (by $2500) from what he'd quoted me earlier! Lucky for me, dealers in both Santa Rosa and San Jose were eager to sell, and willing to cut a great deal... more than $2500 under Team's best quote. I bought the car in Santa Rosa and I got "out the door" for exactly what I wanted... a price that Team told me they "absolutely couldn't do". So I must say, the actual shopping experience was great and exceeded my expectations, all due to Armeen... he gets 5 stars. As the actual negotiation left a lot to be desired, and I was forced to go buy the car elsewhere, the dealership gets far fewer stars, so I'm averaging out to 3. I was phoned by Billy Ross, a Sales Associate for Team Mazda Superstore. He knew from previous contact that I wanted to buy a new, 2016 Mazda MX-5 which are just being released. He told me that the dealership had just received two and told me the details. One was exactly what I was looking for and I told him that I was interested, would pay cash, and wanted to get the selling price to confirm the deal. He e-mailed me two photos of the car. After several days and communications by phone and e-mail, during which we discussed how an out-of-state sale could be completed and delivery of the vehicle, which Mr. Ross said he would do, personally, there was still some question about the sale price. As his Sales Manager was out of the office for several days, Ross asked me to contact the General Manager, Sean Shahid, who could establish the sale price. I e-mailed Mr. Shahid who responded that the car I wanted was "in transit" and that Mr. Ross had sent me a photo of a different car but he'd let me know the next morning where "my" car was. At no time did Mr. Ross tell me that we were discussing a the sale of a car other than the one just arrived and photoed by him. (And morning has come and gone w/o further contact by Mr. Shahid). It's clear to me that they were keeping me on the hook so that if the other buyer who was interested in the car backed out they'd be able to sell the car to me. read more

We walked into this dealership by accident, thinking it was another one that turned out to be on Sonoma Blvd. We met a salesman named Art who has a cool cruiser motorcycle and is a decent human being as well as a good salesperson. I have damaged credit from a period when I was ill and couldn't work, and I didn't think that a a dealership that obviously catered to customers with better credit than I have (they sell that hot new supercharged Cadillac sports coupe, for example) could help us. Art had me fill out their credit app, ran it over to their finance division, and went to work. This dealership had a decent selection of new and used cars. We looked at a couple different cars. One was a 2012 Mazdaspeed 3, and the other was a 2007 Mazda RX-8. We liked the idea of the Mazdaspeed, but like the RX-8's looks, deceptively powerful motor, and quick handling better. Well, Moe in finance got really creative, put together a financing package that worked for us--even gave us a steep discount on the car--and we wrote a check and drove home with a car. I hate buying cars, I hate people looking at my bank transactions, hate being probed about my income, dislike having my checks run to see if I am trustworthy. I got admittedly grouchy with them a couple of times over the detail of my bank transactions, but they rolled with it, were considerate and professional nonetheless, and I think the world of these guys for not making it incredibly difficult and in fact possible for us to purchase a late-model sports car instead of the Aveos and Fiestas that other dealerships think we deserve because of my credit situation.
