Actually it is a 4.5 but because it is on campus and we come here like 3 times a week? It is full of good memories. So I definitely have emotional connections. BUT WHAT MAKES ME LOVE THEM IS THE QUALITY OF THEIR DRINKS. They use organic milk and real tea to make milk tea and they taste very different from those using powder and creamer!! Once you compare their drinks with those of other milk tea places you know what I mean. I personally love all matcha drinks and anything with white mustache (cream top) there. Recently they released a new drink "explore earth", combing matcha and coffee and it tastes soooo goood! Stopped in at their pop-up at Uniqlo on Michigan Ave because of all their amazing reviews from friends that I've heard. Definitely needed to see if this lived up to the hype and "instagram worthiness" that I was seeing all over my feed. It definitely did not disappoint. I got one of the lemonades and not only was it beautiful, but also delicious. I love that you can customize the level of sweetness (since I tend to like things not as sweet) and choose what kind of jellies you can add. Super customizable down to additional toppings, levels of sweetness & tea/lemonade combos. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Also love that they put everything in reusable containers as I reuse mine for tea everyday too. This place is right down the street from my sisters apartment. The first time I went, I got the Lake Michigan and wasn't too impressed. I came again this past weekend and got the Matcha with Lemonade. It was $6.50 for the drink which is really expensive for bubble tea. The drink was "okay..." not worth the $6.50. Third times a charm so hopefully the next time I try something out , it will be worth the high price. So far the best bubble tea in Chicago will still have to be Joy Yees. Revising my review to 5 stars because I have tried it several times since and I do really like this place. My go to is the honey green tea with boba and the tea is very strong and flavorful. I still find their milk tea to be more milky than tea-y, but others might prefer less of a tea taste in their milk tea than me. I'm looking forward to trying their other milk-free boba drinks! Also, they updated their cups and I'm a sucker for cute packaging. They feel very substantial like a reusable cup. There's also a giant bear as tall as the ceiling which I enjoy sitting across from. I walked into a super cute cafe with small tables. The cafe was decorated with adorable succulents! I had some questions about the menu and the workers patiently explained the items. Since it was my first time here, I felt welcomed and everyone was kind, even when I had multiple questions. I decided on the Te'amo White Moustache, which is the signature Rose Tea with a milk cap. I was actually a bit disappointed because the story of Te'amo is based on providing high quality tea with organic ingredients and tea, however they actually use a Rose syrup for the Rose flavor. I expected them to use Rose tea leaves. For those of you who are not familiar with the milk caps, it is a trendy way to combine milk and tea. It is similar to a cappuccino with a spooned thick milky layered on top. It is a combination of milk, cream, salt or cheese that is beaten into a frothy foam! The creamy foam is suppose to hit your tongue first, followed by the fresh fragrant tea. Te'amo attempted the milk caps with their Moustache. The taste wasn't bad, but it was a little thicker than it should be. In addition, there were bits of cheese or glunk that wasn't well blended, which left my tongue with small bits. The price range was a bit overpriced for a typical milk/boba tea drink. It was about $6.50 for the regular size. For that price range, I felt like it was not worth the quality of the drink. The bubble tea is good, but it is overpriced and the service is truly atrocious. I have attempted to go two of the past three days, and they have been sold out of normal boba, the single most important ingredient for a bubble tea place. The location eliminated in person ordering in place of kiosks, but the menus on the kiosk don't match the one posted on the wall, nor do they describe the drinks and options, most of which are unique to this store. Whenever you ask the employees a question about the menu, they seem very annoyed at having to answer, as though customer service is not a part of the job description (even though the kiosk prompts for a tip and defaults to leaving one). read more

They have a rewards program!! But I was not told what their rewards program can do. Took my name and phone number and pretty much that's it. You're in! I ordered the Volcano Milk Tea. Its shown in the picture with this review. I would say... It's not worth the rough $1 extra for less to drink, foam that doesn't dissolve into your drink, and a sprinkle of Oreo? Yes Oreo was sprinkled on top of the foam. For anyone who might be interested in the "Volcano Milk Tea" it's not milk tea. It is Thai Ice Tea with milk foam and Oreo sprinkles on top of the foam. I love boba, but found this to be rather disappointing. Only 3 flavors of fruit tea were available: mango, honey, passion fruit. There were several other syrup flavors on the shelf, so I'm not sure why the menu is so limited. My husband got the passion fruit. It's so bland, he had no desire to drink it. The barista watered down both of our drinks. A LOT. Even my green tea with boba is so watered down, there's no earthiness to it. The best part about it was the boba. They had just finished cooking when we arrived and they were so smooth with the perfect amount of chew. It's was nice being able to choose the sweetness level and ice level, but $11+ for watered down drink means we're off to find a better boba spot. read more

As a regular, I highly recommend either the Thai milk tea (strong flavored) or the okinawa milk tea. I really like how everything is organic and natural. It is a bit pricy, but highly understandable given how transparent they are on what goes into the drinks. LATE REVIEW: I visited Te'amo on May 1st And 21st after I got my vaccine shots. The first time I got Dalgona Match which wasn't as sweet as I though it would be and very milky. I got mines without boba and I wouldn't order it again but if you like the pure tAste of matcha and milk then it's for you. My sister ordered the Sunrise smoothie drink and it was very good. Unlike other Boba places it tasted like real fruit and not perfume. So Sunrise is a go. My mother ordered the Dalgona with coffee which I did not taste and will not comment on but the Te'amo deluxe tea which was rose flavored was an experience. The tea was not heavily sweetened ,at her request, but I still appreciated the taste of rose. It tasted like real roses. It might be a bit of a required taste but I enjoyed it and if you like the way tea leaves taste naturally without a lot of sweetness you might enjoy the rose green tea. I also tried the Passion fruit green tea at 75% sweetness ( not pictured)and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT (in Wheezie's voice) again the taste of the tea was absolutely delicious and I could've drank a 2 liter of that tea. My favorite thing about Te'amo is the cups. They're super cute and for the price of the tea they're great and reusable. Only a ten minute walk away from a unnaturally warm walk on the lakeshore path, the bouquet lemonade was deliciously refreshing, with distinct floral notes that complemented the tartness of the lemon- not too sweet, which i appreciated. And the boba was PERFECT in texture, which seems to be a rarity. The cafe itself was a little loud, it's definitely a smaller place, but they've decorated it well and the space has a cozy, contemporary vibe. I don't see myself studying there, but it'd be a cute spot to kick it with some friends or a date.
