The meatballs were massive--one for each of us--and nestled in a marinara sauce that tasted like it came straight from the old world of Italy. Truly scrumptious! Chef Carla runs the show with such passion and heart that meeting her made us wish we could step into her shoes for a day. She's the real deal. We came here on 02.23.24, curious as are many locals to see what happened to the old Tap In Lounge. This restaurant's opening had definitely generated some buzz. The service here was incredible. From the hostess to the servers and the managers - all of them treated us warmly and like family. We had expected a bit of elitism considering the classy vibe and the celebrity chef in the kitchen - but it was pure Texan hospitality. We only wanted a couple of drinks and a small bite - so we opted for espresso martinis and pork belly burnt ends. The drinks were really good and the burnt ends were incredibly delicious. The pork was tender, sweet, and savory. Every bite melted tastefully. At the end, Chef Pellegrino came out to a neighboring table and paused for a couple of pics with us - she was super friendly and very sociable. Teatro is an exciting new bistro in Grapevine. It replaced a beer and cigar bar. The ambience is French meets Italian: lots of wood, black-and-white, clean and comfortable with a long, old school style bar. We were greeted immediately by the host who kindly and quickly took us to our table. Our server was on top of it as well. We met friends here for DFW restaurant week. We all enjoyed the restaurant week menu. We started off with an old fashioned and French martinis. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. Three people ordered the potato and leak soup. I went for the octopus since it had great reviews. Wow, that was a good choice! It tastes like cod with a nice chard skin that gives it a crunch. The balsamic glaze was nice to dip it in and gives it that squid ink look. For our entree selections, one person ordered the tortellini, one got the baseball steak, and two of us got the salmon with the black beluga lentils. The salmon was phenomenal along with those lentils and purée. I almost ate every bite and that's a rare thing. That was the best salmon I've had in a long time and I get it quite a bit at restaurants. For dessert, cheesecake and tiramisus disappeared rather quickly from our table. Since I am gluten-free, I went for the gelato. I had one scoop of pistachio and one scoop of salted caramel. The salted caramel was amazing! We will be back to try other menu options. This place is horrible and seems on the verge of closing. There were only three tables w diners including my group of 4 There was only 1 waitress who was overworked and with a nasty attitude. They were out of 3 of the items we tried to order and then tried to double charge on the most expensive item. The room was nice and cold but that was the only positive. Incredible experience! My boyfriend and I went here with some friends and were highly impressed! We started with the bread basket, candied pork belly bites, and calamari. For the entrees we tried the chicken parmesan, vodka penne, rigatoni bolognese. Lastly for dessert we had the cheesecake with a side of pistachio ice cream, which was to die for! Chicken parm, sea bass, filet, any salad and appetizer- all solid. Cons: on June 1 music was just too loud. Had to scream to have a conversation. Thank goodness it started when we started dessert. Music was great- just too loud for dinner venue that size. pet peeve is when restaurants want you to order apps/salad and dinner at the same time and say they will space delivery appropriately. They rarely do. Once they got it right- the 2nd time food was brought when I was barely done with salad. They didn't even take salad plates away and wanted to put down dinner. I refused to move my plates and rearrange table for them. I will refuse to order both app and enter at same time again. Other: waiter was very nice and knowledgeable, though overwhelmed.on a sat night. Luckily manager stepped in packing up left overs and getting our bill. All servers working very hard. I dislike when waiter recommends 2nd most expensive wine on the menu without asking what you generally like or what you are having for dinner. I am level 2 WSET- that's not how you do it. This is the second time we went and it was just ok. The server seemed off or overwhelmed with her tables. She also told us they were out of the Arancini because they are re-doing their menu. I got the shrimp and grits and it was terrible. Over seasoned, and shrimp was nasty. Dessert was good, Espresso Martini was good, appetizers were great, and everyone else's dishes were great. Teatro never disappoints and last night was no exception! I had chicken parmesan and my husband had the pork chop. Both were oversized portions - I brought home half of my chicken dish. Teatro's food is always deliciously and creatively prepared by renowned Chef Carla Pellegrino who graciously stopped by our table! Such a friendly family atmosphere, too! The Linguine Pasta Marinara was unpalatable and not very creative. Food didn't taste like it was fresh; it tasted like it was previously frozen. Although the restaurant was less than half full, food arrival timing was careless and erratic, from arriving several minutes between our fellow guests to overlapping unfinished courses. Our past reservation was disrupted by a dispatch to this restaurant by the City Fire Dept. This time, from our table, it appeared to be a continuing water leak, resulting in a presence of flies/gnats. In the event that the water drippage doesn't stop, there is a potential for development of mildew. The bartender was unfamiliar with some of the stock, and she seemed to get easily distracted. And, the glassware had a noticeable stain. Some servers were socializing at the host stand, while the general manager had to be prompted to assist with basic services like clearing dirty glassware and dinnerware, refilling water, and so on. Furthermore, I was told teas (cold or hot) were not served here. During a relevant Q & A, one of the servers didn't have a general idea about the menu and alternative beverages (other than water and coke) for my mother. Music could be better. This is a gem of a find in Grapevine! Our server, Haley, did an excellent job, taking care of us, offering just the right amount of attention without being overbearing. We so enjoyed having a few minutes to visit with Chef Carla as we arrived a little earlier in the evening before the mad rush. For appetizers, we had the octopus and meatballs. Both were outstanding. In fact, the octopus was probably the best we've ever had. For dinner, the shrimp and grits were the biggest hit, but the halibut and the cap sirloin were also delicious. I have been here twice in the last month and both times it was exceptional!! The first time it was early, 5:00, a girls night out dinner. We had drinks...they make a perfect cosmo and dirty martini....appetizers...their bread is wonderfully soft yet crunchy crust,served with a spicy oil and truffle butter ...delicious calamari, Mediterranean salad ,house salad with beets and cantaloupe .Three of the ladies had the chefs special pasta..everyone cleaned their plates ...and I had the best sea bass I have never eaten! The next visit was on Saturday night with my husband and another couple. There was a great 3 piece jazz band playing...perfect dinner music ...we could still carry on a conversation and enjoy the music. Had the bread and Calamari appetizers again and they were just as good as I remembered. We ordered the Risotto with asparagus and scallops but they ran out of asparagus and asked to substitute spinach...it was delicious. The chef came out to apologize for the substitution and make sure we liked it... we enjoyed talking with her, and meeting her daughter. We also had the Penne Pasta with vodka sauce and meatballs....and French fries!...lol, don't asK! but the were awesome as well. The service was awesome on both visits.Our server recommended a wine that we all enjoyed. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The only downside is the smell of smoke from the cigar bar next door...we did smell it when we walked in the back door but sitting at a front door table it went away....We will definitely be revisiting... read more

We came on a Weds night. First time. Maybe only 3 tables with customers. Nice ambience. Had to wait a few minutes for someone to greet us. Seated and the waiter seemed to be very new at waiting tables - no big deal, we tried to make him comfortable as he seemed uncomfortable with another server lording over him (in training?). Again, no big deal. I guess we expected a fantastic meal - if you look at the website. I will say this: the pork chop was okay per my tablemate. The chicken Parmesan was large, hammered out chicken breast, but way, way overcooked (very dry - choke) and had thin slices of Parmesan cheese underneath the chicken - not melted. I expected the chicken to arrive hot and sizzling, but it was just warm. Chicken was served with ho-hum spaghetti (mushy and overcooked) with nothing to brag about tomato something or another. I dine out a lot and wanted to try this place out as I'm a local. I was pretty disappointed at this meal. Service was a bit 'meh' but the kid tried so i can't really gig on that. The meal . . . very meh. I don't believe the 'cook' in the kitchen went to cuisine school. Amore in G'Vine makes way better chicken Parmesan than Teatro. Y'all gotta try harder because you are competing with Piaf and Main Street Bistro - or just drop the menu and serve drinks only. Beautiful place. read more
