This place was unexpectedly amazing. My husband and I spent the afternoon visiting Roanoke for the first time and came across this place right around dinner time. We walked in and was seated promptly. We had the blue cheese and almost stuffed shrimp to start which were delicious and came out like egg rolls. My husband had the surf and turf and said it was cooked to perfection. I had the lamb chops ask rarely see them on the menu in Texas and they were fantastic. We had the jalapeno apple cobbler I was worried it would be too spicy buy it had the right amount of spice. We each had a cocktail I had the key lime pie, and my husband had the whiskey sour both were very good! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. I actually can't wait to come back and try something else on the menu.

Let me start by saying this is now my favorite restaurant in DFW. It's very charming and quaint but beginning to end, this is what a restaurant experience should be. Firstly, we were greeted quckly and served promptly. The whiskey sour is the best I've ever had. It's delicious. The shrimp rolls and okra patties were phenomenal! I can't recommend it more. My main was the surf and turf. I got it medium rare. These days that's undercooked at restaurants but I had faith in the chef after my experience this far and they didn't disappoint! My wife's lamb was super. Our desert was the jalapeno apple pie And it was delicious. I can't wait to go back. The employees couldn't have been politer.

The Classic is always a favorite! I was telling my husband, while eating our dinner that we are so lucky to have a place like this in our backyard. It's a small house, so reservations are a must. The service is impeccable, probably the best I've experienced. I lived many years of my lifetime in sales and I've eaten some amazing meals. The Classic is one of the best! We spend almost every extra special occasion here. The Filet is my favorite, but I cannot in my right mind, not mention the mashed potatoes! Definitely check it out, if you haven't yet! Note that it is on the pricier side, so check out the menu online!

Yes, went for Easter .. food and service was great !! That' Texas sheet cake!, oooh my order extra slice to go!

I guess it has been awhile, because my past reviews are gone. I have loved The Classic Cafe for many years. The first time I ate here was the early 2000s. Many dinners, wine tastings, lunches, and Covid deliveries later, it is still a fantastic, iconic restaurant. We celebrated my husband's birthday here recently. I love the old house and homey feel and the beautiful artwork. The service cannot be beat. I had their Whiskey Sour and loved it. It's a little on the sweet side. We started with the Roasted Garlic goat cheese dip. Amazing! We shared the Asian-marinated, pan-seared salmon with a soy glaze, mashed potatoes and cabbage. It is one of the best salmon dishes. I don't know if I have ever gotten a dessert other than their Crème Brûlée, so we decided to try the Jalapeño apple cobbler with Beth Marie's vanilla ice cream. It was so good that I didn't regret not getting the Crème Brûlée. My husband was very happy with his birthday dinner celebration.

We very, very rarely dine out at dinner anymore as we eat very little in the evening these days, but my cousin from the Carolinas was in Denton on business this week so we decided to split the distance and meet in Roanoke. We were last at Classic in 2014. We have always loved dining at Classic though our visits to the Roanoke store have been relatively few dating back to the 90's. We, however, frequented the Southlake store for lunch during it's tenure. The ever charming and winsome host, Francis, is still there working his hospitality magic. Love him. Our server tonight, Jamie, did a very nice job of perfectly attending to us from start to finish. Classic Cafe is an old school white tablecloth venue with tables nicely spached throughout the restaurant's several rooms. It is so much quieter and peaceful that so many modern restaurants. The walls are hung with colorful, mostly modern abstract art. It all serves to make for a very pleasant ambiance. As you can see from looking at the menu on Classic's website the restaurant's prices are right up there with the very top tier restaurants in Fort Worth and Dallas. But the kitchen delivers the goods! My cousin went for the Prime Beef Ribeye $72 with Drawn Garlic Butter $6.. It was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. My wife had the Classic Salad and I had the Caesar Salad with anchovies, I both of which were very nicely done, $14 each. For our entree we shared the Bleu cheese and almond-stuffed shrimp appetizer wrapped with spring roll pastry, fried, and served with a ginger sweet and sour sauce. Six for $24. This was so good! The shrimp were cooked perfectly, meaning not reduced to Goodyear tire rubber consistency. All of the flavors worked together wonderfully and the dipping sauce was an amazingly tasty accompaniment. My wife had the Peach pecan bread pudding with whiskey sauce for dessert. How can that not be just crazy good? And it was. As we were doing salads and the shrimp I decided on the Rose from Provence. It proved to be the ideal pairing for our dishes. Such an enjoyable dining experience. So wish Classic did lunch as the prospect of a return for a dinner is slim at our age. But alas. Times and circumstances have changed. I am just so happy that Curtis, Chris, Francis and the crew have kept this gem of a restaurant rocking along for thirty years now.

Our friend recommended this restaurant so we decided to try it out. Four of us, including our friend who had been, came for a late dinner after going to see a movie. A young lady who greeted us was not so friendly but the waiter who waited on us was good except for him reaching out in front of me to serve or interact my husband who was seated left of me while I was engaged in a conversation with a friend who was sitting in front of me. Because we were full from all the popcorn we ate at the movie, my husband and I got the salads and our friends got a salmon dish. The food was delicious. The salad was fresh and tasty and my friends enjoyed their salmon dish. We would like to come back to try different dishes one day as our overall experience piqued our interests.

There's a reason The Classic Cafe has been around for so long. The cuisine is outstanding and so is the service. The ambiance is charming and romantic. We ordered the Thanksgiving take out dinner this year and it was amazing!! We will definitely do that again. Thank you to the owners and the entire team who made this holiday so special and stress free!

The Pork Jägerschnitzel with mushroom gravy was delicious. Pairing it with the red cabbage and garlic mash potatoes was perfect! Thank you Ashton, our waiter! My wife loved her Pan-Seared Salmon too. Great dinner topped off with French-pressed coffee!

Do they have a bar area for sitting prior to dinner?

Cheryl C., We have a bar area for seating before or after dinner. In the bar, we have a classical guitarist that plays on Friday and Saturday, from 6-9pm.

Are the fish entrees all wild caught? Thanks :)

    Not at this time.

What courses make up the five course dinner meal they offer?

There's always plenty of great food at a great value, the dining area is welcoming, and the staff is consistently friendly and helpful. Tonight, we decided to order pickup through their mobile app for the first time. The process was easy, the app said our food would be ready in 15 minutes, and sure enough, when we arrived, our order was ready to go. I didn't double-check the bag before leaving, and when we got home, we realized a couple of our sides were missing. I used the mobile app to let the restaurant know about the mistake and almost immediately received a text from Tyler letting me know they had credited us for the two missing sides. Mistakes happen, especially on a busy Friday night, but great customer service is all about how you respond--and Te'Jan handled it perfectly. We appreciate the quick response and will absolutely be back. Great food, great value, and people who take care of their customers!

I wish I were kidding but I AM NOT. This place us just...odd. If you think you like Cajun food but have only a vague idea of what Cajun food is, this might be for you. Also - if you really are into listening to Christian music and seeing more Jesus decor than a Hobby Lobby, this also might be up your alley. As others have noted, the service is slow. The picnic-style tables are sticky and despite having a decent array of hot sauces, there was only a small bowl of ketchup packets on offer. Did I mention this place was odd? Anyway, the shrimp po-boy was was so much lost potential. It lacked pickles which was a huge miss, and I get that they want to class it up with the romaine, but traditionally one would go with shredded iceberg lettuce - THERE ARE RULES. On a positive note, the bread was great. Like - really great. Maybe the best po-boy bread I have found in the Metroplex - at least since that Cajun place on Colleyville boulevard shut down.

We opted for the fried oysters as an appetizer then I ordered the fish and shrimp plate and my wife ordered the # 7, which today was one cluster snow, crabs, and shrimp. They brought our food out in to go boxes, which is I guess what everybody eats out of. We were both blown away when we opened them up and saw how much food they give you. The portions are huge. My fish and fried shrimp was pretty good. The fish could use a little bit more seasoning, but it was cooked very well and tasted good. The shrimp was really good and once again I was surprised at how big they were. There was a ton of fries and only ate about half of them, but they were good as well. I was very impressed with the fried oysters. They were big oysters and tasted great. My wife loved her snow crab. It comes with tons of potatoes, corn on the cob and several shrimp and we were stuffed by the time we left. We will definitely come back and try something different on the menu next time
