The Classic is always a favorite! I was telling my husband, while eating our dinner that we are so lucky to have a place like this in our backyard. It's a small house, so reservations are a must. The service is impeccable, probably the best I've experienced. I lived many years of my lifetime in sales and I've eaten some amazing meals. The Classic is one of the best! We spend almost every extra special occasion here. The Filet is my favorite, but I cannot in my right mind, not mention the mashed potatoes! Definitely check it out, if you haven't yet! Note that it is on the pricier side, so check out the menu online!

Yes, went for Easter .. food and service was great !! That' Texas sheet cake!, oooh my order extra slice to go!

I guess it has been awhile, because my past reviews are gone. I have loved The Classic Cafe for many years. The first time I ate here was the early 2000s. Many dinners, wine tastings, lunches, and Covid deliveries later, it is still a fantastic, iconic restaurant. We celebrated my husband's birthday here recently. I love the old house and homey feel and the beautiful artwork. The service cannot be beat. I had their Whiskey Sour and loved it. It's a little on the sweet side. We started with the Roasted Garlic goat cheese dip. Amazing! We shared the Asian-marinated, pan-seared salmon with a soy glaze, mashed potatoes and cabbage. It is one of the best salmon dishes. I don't know if I have ever gotten a dessert other than their Crème Brûlée, so we decided to try the Jalapeño apple cobbler with Beth Marie's vanilla ice cream. It was so good that I didn't regret not getting the Crème Brûlée. My husband was very happy with his birthday dinner celebration.

We very, very rarely dine out at dinner anymore as we eat very little in the evening these days, but my cousin from the Carolinas was in Denton on business this week so we decided to split the distance and meet in Roanoke. We were last at Classic in 2014. We have always loved dining at Classic though our visits to the Roanoke store have been relatively few dating back to the 90's. We, however, frequented the Southlake store for lunch during it's tenure. The ever charming and winsome host, Francis, is still there working his hospitality magic. Love him. Our server tonight, Jamie, did a very nice job of perfectly attending to us from start to finish. Classic Cafe is an old school white tablecloth venue with tables nicely spached throughout the restaurant's several rooms. It is so much quieter and peaceful that so many modern restaurants. The walls are hung with colorful, mostly modern abstract art. It all serves to make for a very pleasant ambiance. As you can see from looking at the menu on Classic's website the restaurant's prices are right up there with the very top tier restaurants in Fort Worth and Dallas. But the kitchen delivers the goods! My cousin went for the Prime Beef Ribeye $72 with Drawn Garlic Butter $6.. It was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. My wife had the Classic Salad and I had the Caesar Salad with anchovies, I both of which were very nicely done, $14 each. For our entree we shared the Bleu cheese and almond-stuffed shrimp appetizer wrapped with spring roll pastry, fried, and served with a ginger sweet and sour sauce. Six for $24. This was so good! The shrimp were cooked perfectly, meaning not reduced to Goodyear tire rubber consistency. All of the flavors worked together wonderfully and the dipping sauce was an amazingly tasty accompaniment. My wife had the Peach pecan bread pudding with whiskey sauce for dessert. How can that not be just crazy good? And it was. As we were doing salads and the shrimp I decided on the Rose from Provence. It proved to be the ideal pairing for our dishes. Such an enjoyable dining experience. So wish Classic did lunch as the prospect of a return for a dinner is slim at our age. But alas. Times and circumstances have changed. I am just so happy that Curtis, Chris, Francis and the crew have kept this gem of a restaurant rocking along for thirty years now.

Our friend recommended this restaurant so we decided to try it out. Four of us, including our friend who had been, came for a late dinner after going to see a movie. A young lady who greeted us was not so friendly but the waiter who waited on us was good except for him reaching out in front of me to serve or interact my husband who was seated left of me while I was engaged in a conversation with a friend who was sitting in front of me. Because we were full from all the popcorn we ate at the movie, my husband and I got the salads and our friends got a salmon dish. The food was delicious. The salad was fresh and tasty and my friends enjoyed their salmon dish. We would like to come back to try different dishes one day as our overall experience piqued our interests.

There's a reason The Classic Cafe has been around for so long. The cuisine is outstanding and so is the service. The ambiance is charming and romantic. We ordered the Thanksgiving take out dinner this year and it was amazing!! We will definitely do that again. Thank you to the owners and the entire team who made this holiday so special and stress free!

The Pork Jägerschnitzel with mushroom gravy was delicious. Pairing it with the red cabbage and garlic mash potatoes was perfect! Thank you Ashton, our waiter! My wife loved her Pan-Seared Salmon too. Great dinner topped off with French-pressed coffee!

Today we decided to dine in for the first time. The food and service were good, until we received the bill and noticed a surprise $11.99 "vegetable plate" charge. When we asked about it at the front counter, we were told it was because "one person can't eat for free" since we only ordered one meal. I understand some restaurants charge a split plate fee or have minimum ordering policies. The issue is that this was never mentioned by the server and wasn't listed anywhere. A simple heads up would have avoided the frustration. On top of this they don't actually serve you the vegetable plate they are charging you for they just charge you extra for not being able to eat enough. Had we known, we likely would have ordered two chicken dinners and taken the extra food home. Ironically, we didn't even finish the single plate we ordered, which is exactly why we only ordered one meal in the first place.

I'm glad I checked it out because it was easily one of the best fried chicken experiences I've had, especially for the value. The price was fair, and the portions were gigantic. I got the biscuits and gravy along with the fried chicken entrée, which came with four pieces of chicken, gravy (again!), and sides. Everything was very satisfying. The folks working there were also very friendly. They reminded me of the humble, hard-working people I grew up around back in the day. There's a nostalgic, feels-like-home kind of vibe here that made the meal even better. I was more than satisfied with both the food and the service. Highly recommended. As a side note, because the portion was huge, I asked for a to-go box. For some reason, they didn't have to-go boxes at the time and gave me a small plastic bag instead. I'm not sure if that was a one-time thing or some kind of no "to-go" policy, but it didn't affect the overall experience.

Then head inside to collect your sides, of which there are many. Then complete your purchase with the cashier at the end of the line. Tonight I tried a little of everything: the brisket - full of smoky flavor and super tender, yet it tended to crumble rather than being able to slice it; the pulled pork - juicy and tender; the jalapeño cheddar sausage - full of flavor and zip, IMO the star of the show; the turkey - dust-dry and flavorless. This one was a disappointment, however, when he was assembly my order I noticed that the Carver did locate a butt end in which he sliced the rest of the meat from. I'm sure the fresh off the smoker, huge breast that just got put down on the warmer would've been just fine in juicy flavor. They should have found some other use for that dry butt end of turkey instead of serving it to me because I took only one bite and threw the rest away. For sides, I had the jalapeño sweet corn casserole (outstanding!). Coleslaw (fresh) and complimentary pinto beans. These beans were excellent and they are cooked with what I'm assuming are the leftover scraps of meat; what a flavorful side item and they are free! I love their regular sauce, didn't care for the flavor their spicy sauce. Sauces are available on a warmer which further adds to the flavor. I did get a piece of whiskey pie to -go. Their pie slices are small, which was fortunate, in this case, because I didn't find it to be very good. Overall, fantastic food, young servers and staff were respectful and helpful. Nice air-conditioned, indoor dining as well as outdoor dining tables.
