I had a terrifying moment last week where my iMac filled up with an insane amount of useless data, and got to the point where it wouldn't turn on. I am a wedding photographer, so 80% of what I do is on my computer (editing). I tried not to panic right away, and gave apple support a call. Everything that they told me I had already found online, and already tried. My conversation ended with them saying, "Sorry, there's nothing further we can do, you need to wipe your computer." They were so useless and unhelpful. As soon as I gave the Tech Doctor's a call, they immediately restored all of my hope. They reassured me they would be able to help in some way, if not, completely fix the problem. Within 30 minutes of hanging up I was in my car driving to Carpinteria with my iMac. they were very helpful. I went to the mac store and the mac repair shop; i was charged over $300, had to wait several days, for something Henri at Dukky did in an hour for much less. it seems so many stores make computer services seem like a big deal when they are easily reparable - probably just to charge you more. Before i came in for my appointment, Henri researched what apps would be best for my new pc ( I transferred from apple), and then quickly helped me out. the owner also fixed my iphone screen in less than 20 minutes. relaxed and nice atmosphere. Additionally, my family home is out in the wilderness. For 10 years our internet never worked consistently. We hired countless people who didn't help. These guys are awesome! I heard great things about them and last year had them change out the HD in my iMac. This time I asked them to reorganize a 2TB iTunes music library spread out over 4 separate external drives, with numerous duplications and my computer pointing seemingly arbitrarily to different drives for different files. Basically, it was a mess and a disaster waiting to happen. I honestly didn't think there was any way they were going to be able to reorganize it all on a single drive without losing or jumbling files, but they assured me they could and would and, indeed, they did. I had the blue death screen with a Bitlocker endless cycle from hell for a couple days after my laptop crashed after I tried to reinstall Windows 10. The online site makes it sound like they are booked for weeks, but a phone call led to Henri at the Carpinteria Tech Doctors the same morning. By the next day I was back in business with the laptop in hand and the charges were clear and reasonable. I referred my wife with her ongoing annoying slowdowns and lockouts on her computer and Henri was very straightforward with his analysis/prognosis was that her $ was better spent on a new one than paying him for an expensive repair. What a great experience! When I brought my computer to Henry there were multiple issues with my 2012 MacBook Pro - liquid damage to the keyboard, slow/old hard drive, loose screen. 20 years ago I felt I was computer savvy--no more. I use Tech Doctors at least 10 times yearly for various tasks or training. Need a new machine set up, transfer files from the old device to the new one, correct a glitch in your email, need a new WIFI system, or recover lost data on your hard drive. CALL TECH DOCTORS. These guys may not be able to fix every problem you may encounter but if they can't fix it or the cost will surpass the price of buying a new machine, they will tell you upfront be for you waste your money on expensive repairs. I was going nuts. Everything is wireless and on the internet. My printers, faxes, phones and computers did not work as well as they should. So, I wanted everything hard wired in to each other so things will work together like they should. I am a business, and I can't wait for days for someone to come and fix my problem. I spilled water directly into the vent of my computer , and I was devastated when I thought I would have to completely replace it. I felt hesitant to have a remote service call because I had never done it before but once we got going it was great to have my problem fixed that way. I needed a missing piece of data for my new printer for the scanning part as well as some other fixes. I received recommendations and professional service. Amazing service right in downtown Carpinteria right behind Nutbelly Pizza! It was so great to not have to drive to Santa Barbara or Ventura for service. My refurbished laptop (purchased elsewhere) had an issue with freezing easily when moved or having the power cable plugged/unplugged, and another issue where it sometimes (and eventually always) wouldn't power on at all.
