My poor stand-by laptop (MacBook Pro) is getting old and I finally had to get it in to someone BESIDES Apple to fix it. They are too expensive, slow and not terribly good at listening to what customers want. Damon at Digital Dummys is completely different. I was frazzled when I called Digital Dummys about my laptop since I am in the middle of a very challenging semester at school while also working 50+ hours per week. He also gave me the name of another place (also highly rated on Yelp) where I could take my computer if he, Damon, could not resolve my issue. He managed to transfer my files to an external drive I provided (my primary request), cleaned up some files he found to be corrupted on my computer, AND managed to get my computer to stop turning off on the turn of a dime and then not re-boot. I damaged the LCD screen on my Alienware Area 51M and I didn't feel comfortable trying to fix it myself. I contacted several "computer repair" shops in this town, who shall remain nameless, since they didn't or probably just couldn't do this kind of work apparently lacking the expertise... anyway I happened to call Damon at Digital Dummies and he was easy to deal with, and just as important did have the skills necessary to change a laptop LCD screen. The waiting for the replacement LCD screen took the longest part of the entire repair. I had ordered the wrong screen, my mistake, and when I came to pick up the $200 part, Damon had it all boxed up nicely ready to be addressed and ship back! This kind of simple consideration is usually not done in most repair shops of any kind and I appreciated it. Beyond 5/5 stars! I was sitting down to eat some delicious take out and a beautiful glass of two buck chuck, with my laptop open and ready to place Netflix. Then, my clumsy self knocked that heavy-pour wine directly onto the middle of my laptop keyboard. There was a moment and then darkness. I tried to open up the laptop with any and all screws I could access, and drip dry... but the damage seemed really bad. The next day, I contacted Damon and he was concerned with the potential damage, but very open to checking it out. Damon is the Rock Star of computer repair! Here's my story... About 18 months ago, I bought myself a new HP laptop computer. I used it maybe a half-dozen times. About 10 days ago, I was using it for work. I had it set-up on a desk, and plugged into an outlet under the desk. I got up from the desk, and my foot got tangled in the power cord, causing the computer to come off the desk and hit the floor. It still worked, and the damage wasn't catastrophic, but it bothered me to be a professional with a cosmetically damaged computer. Enter Damon at Digital Dummys... I called him based on the great Yelp reviews, and explained the problem. I sent him pictures of the damage, and the computer's model and serial numbers, and he sourced the necessary part. He ordered it, and it arrived a few days later. I dropped the computer off at Damon's shop at about 9:45 a.m., and it was fixed within 90 minutes or so. On time, and at the quoted price. And, on top of his obvious skill and competence, Damon is a very nice guy! Just a pleasure to work with. The bad news was that I damaged my computer. The good news is that I found Damon to fix it. Brought a 7mo old laptop with a broken hinge in from a dog jumping into the users lap. Laptop came back with the lower clips for the rear clamshell completely broken off, (they were fine when I brought it in and still sealed correctly) technician tried telling me that they were just "too worn out". the adhesive for the LCD panel not replaced and pulling off from the front of the panel frame leaving gaps all around the bottom, the lcd panel itself now being missaligned within the frame by several mm around the top and left side leaving very apparent black borders and cutting off windows on the right and bottom of the screen, and the webcam shorted out and dead, grounding on the new rear panel cover causing extreme heat to the touch in that area. The technician I interacted got around to things in a relatively timely manner, and was never rude, but the end result of the service was legitimately the worse I have ever experienced. I greatly wish I had taken my service elsewhere. An lcd panel being slightly askew, and the bottom of the panel frame being open a few mm wasnt enough to warrant me even really caring about a 700$ laptop that much. But the lie and finding out today that the webcam is completely dead is just over my breaking point. More is broken on my laptop after taking it in than was repaired. Very, greatly dissatisfied with the end results of the service. Needless to say they will not be getting business from me, or any of my other very tech heavy friends and family. read more

After a Windows 10 Update, I got the Blue Screen of Death with continuous Automatic Startup Repair. He was able to backup and reset my computer. His customer service skills were great. Dont be afraid of his hole in the wall store as it is littered with computer stuff. He was in there working in a hot box of a store sweating hard during the heat taking care of his customers as the landlord had not fixed the AC. Also, he just charged $90. This place has saved many of my family's machines: modded an x-box to fix overheating problems, salvaged my freaking out computer for a mere hundred bucks to get it working right again (included the part, too!), and replaced a busted laptop power connector for another laptop. It is hard to find good hardware repair for computers and this place does a great job. Seriously, before you run out and drop hundreds replacing your machines, spend the $75 bucks and let this place see if they can fix it first. They are computer miracle workers! I know very little about computers and so had Damon order me one and transfer all my files from my old to my new computer. Turned it on that night but one big file was missing on the new computer. I called at Friday about 8ish PM and received a call within 30 minutes. Damon did a remote control of my computer and checked and completely owned up that the file transfer didn't go through.
