Tech3 was professional, friendly, honest, and timely. This is by far one of the best auto repair shops I've taken my car to. They were accommodating of my schedule (I traveled from Santa Cruz just to visit this specific shop) and got my car in and out in less than an hour. Lexus dealership quoted me ~$800 for the diagnostic assessment (this excludes repairs) and $3000 to fix the "wiring" on my center console for the intermittent flicker of the gear selector light. Tech3 diagnosed and fixed two issues including the gear selector light. Their prices were so ridiculously reasonable that I threw more money at them and ran since they saved me over $3500. My family and I used to come here for all our car needs. I had a bad experience here a year and a half ago after I had them replace my clutch, master cylinder, and slave cylinder for my G37. I took off the review because the business is their livelihood but I feel people should be aware. When they overhauled my clutch, they didn't replace my master cylinder as agreed. Everywhere in the manual says you must replace both master and slave at the same time. I picked up the car and almost get home to find that the pedal is stuck to the floor and I can't shift. They towed it back to the shop and replaced my master cylinder and it is working again. Note that after picked up the car the second time I told them that it was driving funny. So I drove the car with Chuck in it and had him drive it but he told me it drove normal. Wouldn't I know what normal is if I am the one that's been driving it every day? I let it slide and thought it just needed to be broken in. Just recently I was not able to get into ANY gear. I thought my clutch had worn out prematurely so I took it to another shop to get it replaced. Turns out the clutch was never adjusted correctly so I was not getting full pedal travel and the clutch was not fully disengaging. The new shop readjusted my clutch and it finally drives like how it should be. read more

For the longest time, my 96 integ gsr was making this distinctive, annoying rattling noise. when i was in 1st-3rd gear... it was embarrassing... you could hear me coming down the street! Anyway, i took my car in to a couple "OTHER" mechanics, and they could never distinguish where the sound was coming from. Apparently my car was great at hiding its flaws around mechanics.... Since the "other" mechanics couldn't find anything wrong, they just did a tune up and fixed my axles... keep in mind this was towards summer 2009. SO...December rolls around and the sound of my car is at its loudest. My brother recommends Tech3 Auto Repair and Performance because he also gets his car fixed there. Sonny and Chuck definitely took quality time to diagnose and fix the problem. Not only did they fix that annoying rattle, but they also noticed that my car did not have a "real tune up" and my axles were bent! I'll be completely honest, if you are taking your car anywhere else, you are getting ripped off. Sunny and his crew are honest and treat you like you're friends and they want to hook up. I brought my car here because I ripped the bumper off my 2011 WRX on a piece of re-bar sticking out of cement stop and now it was touching my tire and flapping in the wind. It was late, but I needed to figure out a fix, and quick. I called around and other guys quoted me anywhere between $100 and $200 to replace my bumper. On a chance, I decided to call Tech3 hoping they could take a look at it. Even though they were about to close, Sunny told me to come down and he would look at it. He looked at it and said, "oh yeah, I can fix that." He got it on the lift and a half an hour later, it looked like brand new. He didn't even charge me for it, so you'd better believe I'm taking my car here from now on. If you are a Subaru driver and you don't come here, you're missing out. Sunni knows what he's talking about when it comes to Subaru's. While he was working on my car, he informed me that my tires were looking feathered (I just had my first track day) which told him my alignment was off... apparently uncommon that tires would get misaligned after one track day, but unfortunately, some WRX's my year came misaligned from the factory. He told me to see if Subaru would cover it under warranty, and if not he could align it for me. They didn't. Of course. A few weeks later, he messaged me because he had ordered the wrong mudflaps for his STI, but rather than return them, he was willing to sell them to me for $100. I ended up getting the mudflaps with installation and even decided to get my wheels aligned for a great price. If you're nervous about mechanics, you don't need to be at Tech3, all the guys in the shop are awesome, including their shop pitbull! read more

This car shop is just OK. I've been here a few times, once for an alignment and like others say, the machine is outdated and you can barely read the print out. On another occasion, I came here to get my valves adjusted and I guess they did an average job but my complaint is towards the fact that after it was completed the valve cover looked like it was tossed around in the mud. Before I went in the cover was as clean as when the car was first purchased. How hard is it to keep the valve cover clean when taking it on and off? read more

I thought id do a little homework just to make sure I wasn't out of line. Two pairs of brake pads and one pair of rotors from Auto Zone all OEM, quoted at $290 After tax. Add your original $200 labor quote for doing 4 wheels(which was actually for 4 rotors, but I reduced it to 2 in the end), and we have $490, not $650.....So I apologize, you only gouged me for an extra $160 despite me discussing with in in detail why $650 was extreme, but instead of trying to be reasonable all you said was 'then take your car out of here'. All I can say is enjoy your 4.5 stars on yelp, just don't try to cash in on it by gouging people because it will quickly drop to a 3 and your shop well be a ghostown...in no city, in no state should cost $650 to do a standard, 1 hr brake job, period. read more

My buddy and I had some trouble installing my cars catback exhaust and we had trouble for a good reason, all of the bolts on my car were old, worn out, and stripped. Couldn't find the parts for it at any store so we decided to call it a day and go to a shop. A good friend of mines recommended me Tech3 based on his experiences with them. I took a shot and I got the bullseye. These guys are great. I came in at 9am and they took my car in right away. He told me that he would charge $85 for the basic installment and if there was anything else needed, he would tell me and bill me for it. They finished in about 20 minutes and gave me a new bolt since one of mines was done for. No extra charge which was nice. The unfortunate part was that my exhaust's fitment was off. He advised me to go to a shop to have them rework it. He told me that since it didn't fit properly, he would only charge me $40 so that I can have an easier time affording the service at the muffler shop. That was awesome. I was ready to pay full price but he gave me 50% discount even though it was out of his control. Thanks a lot Chuck! These guys are awesome. Chuck is a character. He's a wiseguy and has a foul mouth, but dammit, you can count on him, Winston, and the other grease monkeys to do a good job fixing your car. I take my Nissan and my Audi there to repair issues that I can't do myself. Chuck is pretty upfront with costs and turnaround time...he doesn't bullsh*t. You can always haggle with him too(but don't tell him I said that!) Give him a call if you have a repair that your stealership is charging you an arm and a leg to fix. This review is based on my first experience to have some handling upgrades installed. My impression of their work is Tech3 does quality work and see's to it the job is done properly. I can feel the buddy/family vibe of the place. I don't have too much doubt they can't get it done. My impression of communication and follow up customer service is so-so. I showed up for my appointment on time. However I ended up waiting an entire hour before my car could be started on. I believe Tech3 did try and reach me 20 minutes before my appointment -- at that point I was already on the road, 1/2 way there since I work 30 min away -- but somehow even when I answered either they couldn't hear me or my signal was bad. I just wished that when I arrived I was informed it would be an hour wait.. I wasn't. It was also a bit uncomfortable waiting -- because of the remodeling there was no comfy seating inside, and while sitting outside it was running out of shade as time passed on a pretty warm afternoon and the uncomfortable sweating began. Acknowledging that my car took a while longer to get to, they did their best and fast work and finishing the job. Took only 30 minutes and I was impressed! However despite waiting an extra hour, and the job taking less time than quoted, I was still rang up to pay the full hour of labor estimate -- which isn't necessarily cheap. As a first time customer I was a little disappointed in this piece, and definitely feel like if the charges were knocked down the a little bit in regards to extra wait, lack of communication while I was waiting, and first time customer, I'd for sure be more eager to come back. For reference, even with other shops I've worked with they immediately lowered the charge on labor when it's been overestimated. Would I come back? Depends on if I don't mind spending the extra cash and if I had no other convenient, reliable options. read more

My 350Z 03 is known to have front end issue for this first year model. The dealer replaced 2 front tires under warranty and alignment. Within 6 months, the same growling noise occurred again when brake hard due to out of alignment. I brought to many shops to re-aligned but same story within few months. I bought new tires, shipped to Tech3, and have them balance/mount/install on my Z. Paul is the young and cool tech who took the time explained to me why and how the alignment (camber/toe) can't be adjusted due to manufacturer's maximum setting but he did what he could to align wheels. To be fair, I had to drive it for 5K miles before I write this review. The alignment is still good, tires didn't wear out unevenly inside wall. I also refer to my young nephew to have his new tires install and alignment done here. These young mechanics are car fanatics so you know they will take care of your car as well as theirs but not over the top. read more

I was recommended to use this shop by a coworker. From the moment I called them they were very helpful and friendly! I took my car in the NEXT day! I drove up and again super friendly and helpful! I told them of an issue my car was having obviously a weird issue that was hard to explain. They started looking over my car, saw an issue and fixed! Less than 20 minutes later I test drove it with Jr. and the issue seemed to be fixed! 2 weeks later now and it is still driving smoothly! My mom recommended another place but my car had been waiting there for 2 days already! I needed to drive back to LA today, so I decided to stop by and check it out. Not only were they cheaper by 30 bucks to resurface my rotors, they were super quick! With one person in front of me I was in and out in 1-1.5 hours. Well after writing the review, I received a call from the mechanic who was willing to fix the issues if i removed the negative review. First he says I can give you a free filter but I will charge you labor and I tell him that it costs about 40$ and I can fix it myself. He then offers to buy me a set of tires. Looks at prices and says the tires cost 500$ and I have to help him with 100$ or more and give him my used tires. I look online and see that tire rack has the same tires on sale for 400$ after a mail in rebate. So basically he wants to do anything to get the bad review off of yelp but couldn't see the problems 1.when I got the tires installed and he did the alignment, 2.when i went in to complain about the noise 3.when i complained again and he suggested spacers Above all I wrote up this review not to stop people from going there. I just want people to be careful and not accept anything that they recommend without doing any research. Remember that I started out as someone that admired their work but I guess their standards go bad after a while. The reason for refusing their offer to fix it now is simple - would I go to a restaurant to eat for free after they served bad food three times. They know the secret sauce to setting up the s2000's track alignment, well they can knock any alignment, but seeing as how the s2000 is one of the trickiest cars to exact it's potential, it is the one worth mentioning. My go-to place to get an oil change! I usually try to come in during the week in the afternoons, call ahead the morning of to make an appointment and they are always able to accomodate me just fine. Not sure how busy they are on the weekends. Very reasonably priced, they top off my liquids and pump air in my tires when needed, AND i'm in and out in less than 20 min! Sometimes I feel pretty ridiculous coming here for an oil change since the general feel of the garage seems to be for those who are more car savvy and mod their cars..but OH WELL, great quality and quick speed of service is always a win. read more
