Came in early morning for an over due oil change. I was taken within minutes and done within an hour! All of the workers nodded to me while they were working on their car projects; it's nice to be acknowledged. Victor was easy to talk to! I came here as a referral from another mechanic who I really trust. I came here due to my Mitsubishi's oil light flickering when I stopped at a light or stop sign. Victor let me know it could've been a few things and so he was going to address the least expensive of all of them to see if it resolved the issue (which it did). I called V&S for a second opinion after receiving a really high quote from another shop. When I arrived, all the techs acknowledged me and Victor had my car on the rack within 5 minutes of my arrival. He was able to point out his observations and gave me a honest opinion about the urgency of the previous shop's recommendation. He quoted me 1k less than the previous shop. Had the car up on the rack 20 minutes after calling them. I was told by the dealer I needed an axel seal replaced, but they determined it was actually the main case that was leaking. They even let me take a look at the leak while it was up on the rack. Given the cost and the age of my car it wasn't something I went forward with, but I appreciated the quick honest eval of the situation. Do not take your car here, you will be ripped off. Took a car in for repairs to be covered by the insurance. After the car was delivered to the shop we were informed that we would be charged $100 per days if the repairs are not immediately initiated. We raised the concerns that the estimate has not be approved by the insurance. Victor assured that he would send the supplement to insurance company and it will be approved and demanded the credit card to pay for repairs. As it turned out it was not true. He knew that he was using the parts that would not be approved by the insurance company but still lied to us to push it through before we hear from insurance. Never gave us an option for cheaper parts or to just wait for approval. Of course, the insurance denied the estimate and we ended up paying approximately $2,400 out of pocket in addition to deductible (the total cost of repair was $4,200, so we did not even get a half of it covered by insurance). Then suddenly it became not "his responsibility" as soon as he got the money. $300 discount after we overpaid $2400? What a joke! And now we found out that it would be cheaper to do it at the dealership! He is even lying in his response to the comment. How could it authorized if you send your "estimate" to the insurance after you asked for the credit card and we specifically asked you whether the repairs will be approved? Dishonest and unprofessional scammer, lier and a cheat. Frauds like this should not be in business. If you go to this shop be prepared to be screwed over. Good luck! read more

They ALL said, it was good quality work but I was overcharged for the parts and the labor. I was overcharged by nearly $300. Also the customer service wasn't the best. I love this place! They gave me the cheapest price for an oil change (I also replaced my filter as well, which is common when you are getting your annual oil change). They noticed my tire pressure light was on and filled my tires up to the safety standards for free and did not even tell me that's how caring and helpful they are here! I brought my own oil as well and they used that and returned the remaining oil bottle that wasn't used. Very honest and fast service at the best price that I've found in San Jose. Good work, fair prices, quick turnaround! I called and asked if they were able to replace the clutch on my 2008 Mazda3, and they had availability so I scheduled time and brought my car in. One of the few mechanics willing to accept my parts and just do the labor on the replacement. They also identified an issue with the rear wheel bearing (I had been wondering where the strange sound was coming from) and they were able to make time for both repairs. I have found my go to mechanic! The first time I came here I needed to get my CV axle and oil change. When I came here I was a little confuse, but I understood when the guy took me into the office and gave me a pricing and estimate for my car. After giving them my keys I walked across the street to Starbucks to wait for my car. (Convenient right across the street from a plaza where you can wait in) Got a call in less than two hours to come back and get my car paid for my services, and left. It was easy and they seem very trustworthy. Told me I needed new tires, which I already knew, but told them I would come back next time. ONE MONTH LATER: I came back for another oil change, because I drive a lot and my 3,000 miles were due. Came in waited my oil change took about half an hour, after my oil change was done the mechanic showed me that my coolant was cracked, I saw the crack and I knew he was telling me the truth, but told him I would come back another time for those services. They are closed for 2 weeks for break, but I'mma bring my car here for a new coolant tank and 2 new tires. These mechanic are truthful and nice! read more

5 stars well earned! I'm don't have the best luck when it comes to cars. So this time around, I had to replace my water pump and timing chain. Lucky for me (*rolls eyes), I have a 2013 Ford Taurus. This specific make and model placed the water pump somewhere underneath the engine, so the level of difficulty of replacing it was higher than most. Usually it would cost a very minimal amount to replace a water pump, yet that wasn't the case for me. Because they had to take out my engine to get to my water pump, I had to pay more for labor. How much more you might ask.. think 1000$+ Fortunately for me, I took my car to get it diagnosed by John Bascom Auto Repair and they referred my over to this auto repair shop. Victor Jr. was very helpful with assisting me and was able to give me a quote within 2 days. While I waited for my estimate, I called around to other places to see what their price range was. They all ranged from $1700-$2700. I assumed he would call me back and give me a similar quote. However, he called and quoted me for $1400. This was music to my ears! I immediately called him back with the ok to get started and my car was done within 2 days. They deserve 5 stars for their affordability as well as their great customer service. I know auto repair shops can be busy at times, but Victor Jr. continued to keep in touch with me and offer recommendations as well as truthful advice. He explained thoroughly what I needed to get done. Him and his father have been in this automotive repair industry for many years. Victor, and his son, Victor Jr. are all about vehicles. Owning a 1971 mustang Mach 1, I am very careful about who I let work on the car. The first time I went to V and S, I was referred to them to have work done on my transmission. I was told the father, Victor, knew everything one could about cars...especially classics. I bring the car in, and Victor checks it out, instantly knowing what the issue is, and how to fix it. They stored the car for me over the weekend to keep it out of the rain, and had it up and running in less than 2 days! Flash forward a few months later and my car is having electrical issues right before a big car show! On ZERO notice, I call Victor Jr. 15 min. before the shop closes, and am told to bring the car by. Upon arriving, Victor Jr. diagnoses the problem, works on it past closing, and by 5:15pm, the car is running like new! In disbelief, I ask Victor Jr. how much I owe him. "Don't worry about it, it's nothing" After staying late (and saving my ass), Victor Jr. wouldn't accept payment! I insisted on at least $20, but the experience reaffirmed how much this company cares about their customers. The owner of V&S is very professional and honest. Either the father and/or son is always been present at the shop when I've gone (both times I've dealt with the son). They are very thorough so you don't encounter anymore issues after the job is done. They explain to and advise you exactly what needs to be done to the car and let you decide what you want to do (they showed me where the problem was.. with my transmission.. and what reoccurring problems may happen if it isn't fixed.. they will let you know what needs to be done now or soon and what can wait.. but basically they explained the long term and how much more costly it would be if it's not taken care of soon). After they complete the job, they tell and show you what they have done to your car. They won't give you a quote over the phone, which put me off a bit at first but understood and am happy about now, because they want to see what the issue is before they can give you an accurate one. Now, I don't see why other mechanics can give you a quote over the phone without even looking at your car. The price they give you is very fair and they don't pressure you to get it done. I actually called around and went to other mechanics to check prices, and V&S is better. I highly recommend to do your own research, but for me, V&S is fair/good in price and the plus side is how informative and the patience they have to explain what they are doing before and after they fix up your car. read more

Great service, convenient location and friendly workers. I came here early one Saturday morning, about an hour after they opened. I was being a nice gf and told my bf I would bring his car in for an oil change while he was out of town working. I didn't have too much information on what type of oil, but he had a sticker form a previous location when he last had it changed. I pulled in, someone came over to help me, checked out the car and I was out in about 20 minutes max. I debated walking across the street (literally across from Starbucks, Jamba Juice, etc.) but just waited it out. So, while I was driving on the 87 the other day, this nice person pulls up next to me and gestures for me to roll down my window. I, being the nice Jersey girl that I am, gave him a dirty look and possibly the finger and sped off. That was when I realized that perhaps that the man was not trying to be obscene, and wanted to tell me that one of my tires was flat. I got off the interstate and went to the first Auto Repair shop I saw--V&S, off of the Taylor Street exit. When I got out of my car, I was told that they were closed and could not help me. This was around 5PM. I told him that I had a meeting to get to (I did), and had no idea how to fix my tire at all (so true and so sad). I think he felt sorry for me, because he quickly went to work to fix my flat. This place totally saved me that day and I am so appreciative of their customer service and awesome price. This place is awesome!!! I had a flat, and didn't a quick search on Yelp and realized this was the place to be. Not only are they responsive on Yelp (someone responded to me really quickly via the app) but they're also awesome in person. Victor helped me out, and honestly this is probably going to be my new mechanic. I went in thinking I'd get all four of my tires replaced, victor could have taken advantage of my lack of knowledge and told me to, but instead he suggested I only do the back two, as they're the only ones that needed it. In that moment, I knew I was at the right place. They were super quick getting it done, it took only a few hours, and they had other cars being serviced at the time. Likewise, I was given the price with tax before I even left, so I knew what I was paying when I returned. He left notes telling me about additional things I might need to get fixed (brake pads, o2 sensor, the works) but also gave me a timeline, informing me that nothing was severe enough to be done now, but to pay attention later on. He even gave me a soft estimate on some of the services I might need later down the road. Either Victor has daughters, or he's just an awesome human being. Have a flat tire is not a fun experience... Have to fix a flat tire while on the way to work is worst.... Victor at V & S took care the problem for me.... He came out to help me right away, and quoted me a price that is 1/3 of what I got from Wheel Works. Got me out of the door with a patched tire in 20 mins, so I can get to work "almost" on time. For people that likes cars, Victor actually used a torque wrench to tighten the wheel nuts. If you know what I am talking about then you can appreciate that. read more

I randomly found this place back in like 2002 when the transmission on my 1994 Thunderbird started going out on me. I had called a few other places for quotes and what not, all of them giving me outrages prices and the run around. V&S rebuilt my transmission at an amazing price and that car ran like new. Fast forward to Thursday November 09 2017, driving down the 101 and my Grand Prix starts over heating, did a self diagnostics and convinced myself that it was the thermostat that needed changing and did it all the myself. The next morning it happened again only this time with steam billowing from the engine. I knew this wasn't a job I could do on my own and the first place that popped up in my mind was V&S Auto. I called them up, ran down what I had done to it and they told me to drive it in so they could check it out. Drove it in about an hour or two before closing, once again overheating and steam billowing out of the engine. They realized it was a leak coming from the Elbow Fittings attached to the water pump and I was losing coolant like crazy. Once again I was quoted an amazing price, I literally thought it was going to be twice what they quoted me. Said it would be ready at 10 the next morning, got a call at 9 to let me know it was ready for pick. Picked it up, drove out of there 100% satisfied once again. I don't know, call it a placebo effect or something, but I swear it feels like my car is running 10 times better than before those cracks even happened. They let me know that my head gasket is going to have to be replaced in the future and as far as i'm concerned I'm takin my car back to this shop and getting it done, no ands, if, or buts about it. read more

V&S is the best mechanic. I've been going to them for years. The first time was several years ago with a much older car. I remember I needed something major done that was going to cost more than the car was worth. I got upset with the news (there might have been some girly tears involved.) I was given an option for a cheaper and less permanent fix that would only cost around $200. I was warned is wasn't as good. I did that and the car ran perfectly until I sold it a couple of years later. Sometimes I go someplace else for cheap oil change deals, and end up getting work done there out of convenience (laziness). I'm almost always sorry and wish I went to V&S. V&S Auto Repair is a transmission expert. Quality is their priority. When the forward movement in my transmission stopped working, I called 5 Ford dealerships and 2 transmission shops about repairs. They all recommended a complete transmission swap, with prices ranging from $2,850 to $3,885. When a friend told me about V&S, I went there and found a transmission master surgeon. They removed & disassembled the transmission, and found that all of the gears & clutches were in great shape, with 158,000 miles on them. The one problem was with the forward planetary's inner spline being stripped by the output shaft's outer spline. All 117 parts were cleaned and carefully inspected. As regular maintenance, all of the clutches & seals were replaced, along with the broken parts, with heavier duty parts, by an expert. The V&S price was much lower than the other repair centers. We always come here for oil change since we moved to North San Jose and when we came on past Friday, I noticed there's yelp check-in deal. We asked if we could use it and they asked if we ever used it before. We weren't sure as the last time we were at this place was about 7-8month ago and we thought we did use it so we said yes and they said this yelp check-in deal is for one time only. We understood and were fine with it. They called us in about 15min to let us know that our car is ready and they said we never used yelp check-in deal before and they would honor it! (I guess they can look it up if you ever used it or not?) How honest people are they??!!? We thought we used it so they could just ignore and charge us regular price!!!
