There's a small clubhouse with a food and bar area, and it's a great place to come hit some balls on the modestly sized driving range. I was not satisfied with the friendliness of the pro shop, the quality of the driving range, or the course itself. Beautiful golf course! This is a challenging golf course especially for a beginner like me. Very narrow for most holes. The putting area was challenging, but fun to play on. The day was overcast so it was perfect to be out for a few hours. On the last hole my hubby got a birdie so it was a great way to end the round. I would come back to this course! read more

Not too shabby! My wife and I came here during our trip to SD. It was a fairly challenging course, given that the area is small and tight. The putting isn't easy either, with lots deceptive hills. Prices are about $40 a person during an early morning summer tee time. read more

This course has lost everything that used to make it great. Walking times are just as expensive as much better courses in the area, greens are poorly kept, fairways are 50/50 scorched grass and rocks or sand, carts are falling apart, range balls are $15 for a medium bucket, range mats are nonexistent and just muddy divots, shop staff are uninterested teenagers. Course sucks, range sucks, chipping and putting greens suck. With so many courses within 10 minutes, I'm shocked this place has stayed open. Even the play here sucks now- the course was narrow anyways and now erosion and lack of fauna control makes most of the course unplayable. I used to believe every course is worth a play once, but the lack of effort here makes it a skip. Bottom line, you can get much better game play and experience at much cheaper courses. read more

This golf course is a public nuisance. They routinely use leaf blowers and other loud equipment at ungodly hours (before 5am) to "prepare the course", and there is apparently nothing the police can do to enforce the city's noise ordinance. The course is a bit rough...literally. It needs some TLC for sure. A couple of thoughts....if you are gonna mow the grass, pick up the darn clippings. There were clumps of grass on the 'fairways' of many of the holes and you could literally lose your ball right in the middle. Pick up the grass- its just common sense. The greens were maintained well, and roll true to what you see. We played at noon on a Saturday. Price was reasonable ($58 to ride). Only one outhouse on the course, which doesn't bode well for females. Pace of play for a Saturday was okay. We waited on each hole, but still finished in a little over three hours. Can't speak to the bar/restaurant, as we went in at 3:20 and it was already closed for the day..oh well, there's another $100 they didn't get. The only true negative was the cart-lady. She posted her cart at a fixed spot between three holes; she didn't actually drive around and offer food/drink (more lost revenue). That's not the bad part, she was not a very nice person. She was bitching at us and bad-mouthing the starter because my wife and I played as a twosome and there was a twosome in front of us. She was ANGRY that we were not a foursome and that we were slowing the pace of play (which neither the twosome in front of us, or us, were slowing play. It was a threesome of really terrible golfers in front of us that had everything backed-up). Regardless, it's none of the cart lady's concern. Her job is to sell food and drink and not bitch at the golfers. Stay in your lane cart lady. Overall, her aside, it was a good round of golf on a poorly maintained, but challenging and fun course, for a decent price. read more

My friends and I came here for the first time and we were really impressed with the layout course and the condition of the greens especially for the price paid I believe it was quite a deal. Some areas are pretty narrow and challenging but that's what golf is all about! For the most part everything was great only thing I would say was a negative was the Marshall being uptight about the music (Truthfully we weren't playing it loud). Horrible policies and communication in place. Spoke with Alex the GM on refunding a no show charge (2@$25). I regretfully showed up with 2 and the reservation was for 4. Day of, the pro shop attendant made no mention of actually charging me this, and then 3.5 weeks later I see a charge for $50. I understand the no show policy is posted on the confirmation email, but this is one of the few facilities that are actually charging customers this in the area, and they need to be more upfront about this at time of transaction. Too bad management can't look past policies and bend a little, especially when the communication and execution of the charge (3 weeks later) was so poor. I've been playing off and on at Tecolote for over 20 years, so this comes as a disappointment I'll not be returning. All good though. Doubled price for a 6am round. Shame. I got both my hole in ones here a year ago(which I never got the certificates they said they awarded). You can play the most expensive course at that same time for 10 bucks more and not have to worry about being out of bounds with a slight (and I mean slight) miss, left or right. Was invited to play her for first time and at first I was hesitant when I saw it was an executive course but since I don't play often anough I thought I could work on my short game and I'm glad I played. This course just opened back up a few weeks ago with walk only play and it wasn't that well maintained but I still had a good time. Each side has a few drivable par 4 holes but it really is challenging enough to get your short game dialed in for longer courses. We had a players card in the group so it only cost $25 weekend rate which is great and they have great midweek and twilight rates. Would I come back? Yes I would. I really liked this learner course. For how cheap it is you get some really great nature as scenery. It's not exactly Torrey Pines, but at $37 bucks for 18 holes and a cart rental, it's definitely a cost efficient way to kill a few hours if you're a total beginner. It's very narrow and extremely easy to walk so you definitely don't need a cart if you don't feel like it's Covid safe. Most importantly, the beer cart has an excellent selection so if you're more out to get some sun and have a good time than training for the pro tour, Tecolote is a great option. read more

This is related to the front desk/cashier. During Covid -19 I cant stop thinking about my experience I had in early to mid March 2020. I've been golfing Tecalote for about 15 years. I have brought hundreds of my clients to this place as golf is a great way to get deals done. Or just to relax. Back to what happened, myself and my client paid the cashier just around $50 for a round and a cart for ONE. My buddy who made the tee time came in and paid for himself and his wife. Great, when asked how much I paid, I said around $50. He laughed and said he was charged $38 per person with a cart. So I went inside a little puzzled. I asked the pro shop guy, him why did my client and myself pay up to $12 more. The cashier/pro shop guy would not give me a straight answer as to why. So I asked again and was not happy that this guy was being dishonest to my face. So I asked again as to why ?? He said in a smart mouth way, well its because he brang his wife ?? What ??? This made no sense, at this point I wanted to take the guy outside and smack his face for stealing from me and my client. My buddy made the tee time for 4. Why was the price different for him. He was not a member and I introduce this course to him and his wife. This was their end or 3rd time there. The fact that this punk kid lied to me and my client. Didnt offer a refund or an apology. So I asked him if he'd like to run his mouth, I have a hand that would like to smack him outside. I walked out, nothing happened, we played golf and had a great day. Thank god this kid isnt the owner. He must have been an accidental birth for sure. Parents must be so proud. They offer a great deal for a large bucket of balls a day but it feels like the range is always closed. All I want to do is be able to hit some balls at around 6:30am before work but nope they can't turn on the ball machine. People are here putting and playing rounds but the range is required to be empty until it's just late enough that there's not enough time to hit some balls. The only thing they'd have to do is turn the ball machine on since there's literally no other upkeep in the range other than occasionally picking up the balls. Awesome makes sense! read more

Just be aware that the stationary beverage cart attendants will harass you if they spot a cooler in your cart. Doesn't matter if it's 90+ degrees out and you want to bring water. They will try to take your cooler away from you. Other than that, Fun and challenging course. We just won't be back. Plenty of places that won't harass over a cooler. Worst golf course ever! When we first arrived at the parking lot was filled with empty beer cans and trash. Then after paying and loading the cart a female worker randomly walks by our golf cart and checks what we have mind you she had no business going where our golf cart was she made a special trip to go see what we had she obviously felt like "we" did not belong there. She notices we have ice and water and lets us know beverages and ice is not allowed that we have to get rid of it. Then the same lady singled us out and tells us don't back up the golf course. To top it all off there was a golf cart following us telling us to hurry up when we have a torment front of us holding us up. Worst golf course. Waste of money!! read more

Nice course, very friendly working staff, but the female manager made the experience horrible! Me and some friends are new to golf and look nothing like golfers so (lets call her karen) Karen felt like she had to check our bags for beer on hole 1! Told us we better not hold up group behind us or she'll boot us! Hole 9 we spotted her with binoculars watching us. Whole 11 and 15 she must of sent someone to tell us we better hurry up, mind you we didn't hold no one up. BTW didn't see Karen harass any other golfers.
