My first pair of cowboy boots are Tecovas and Tecovas are probably the only place I'd ever by any others. I've had my current pair for going on 3 years now and they still look (and feel) good as new. While Tecovas are by no means cheap, the longevity and in-store hospitality you get do justify the cost. After several wears, my boots get dusty, and I'll bring them in for a free shine which takes no more than 10 minutes. On my latest visit, I was asked to wait in line because the store was "a bit crowded." Their store is open concept and while the display and fitting area was slightly congested, I was only coming in to get my boots shined but was still told that I needed to wait in line. Perhaps it's fire code or the like, but I've definitely seen other stores where customers were more densely packed together than it was here. On other visits and at other stores, I am usually offered a complimentary bevy while I wait for my shoes to get shined. During this visit, the staff behind the counter didn't really care to make eye contact, so I had to "excuse me?" to one of the employees to engage with them. Upon requesting a beverage, she asked for my ID, and kindly poured me a whiskey on the house. My boots always come out looking nice and shiny, so no doubt I'll keep coming back here for the shines. The parking situation in Rice Village is tough, but the only other Tecovas store is in CityCentre, where parking is just as bad if not worse. So definitely come here with intention or if you have other business to take care of in the village. read more

Went to the Rice Village location this morning and was met at the door by a young person asking me if I was meeting anyone there. It seemed like an odd question so I answered with why? He then told me the store seemed a little full so I would have to form a line. When I looked inside there were plenty of empty seats and some employees who appeared not busy because they were on their phones. Sad to see this at this location especially since all parking is pay to park nowadays. The Town and Country location was the same size and had lots of people there and never turned people away. The T&C location brought out extra chairs. I'll take my boot business to that location in the future. read more

My absolute favorite western boots, I own eight pairs. Great craftsmanship and value for your money.

Back in January, I was in need of my first pair of boots with the HSL&R coming up. I went by Cavender's and found some nice boots there but also wanted to see what Tecovas had after hearing good things about them along with the fact they now had a Houston store in Rice Village. It's a attractive store inside and much, much smaller than Cavender's since they only sell their brand which are made in Mexico. After walking in and being greeted by salesman Dylan, he showed me the different styles available and the pros and cons of each design. He understood that this was my first pair and patiently answered every question asked of him. I needed something dressy and black and finally settled on The Nash which are lizard skins for $325. He also gave me a free pair of long socks to wear with the boots and explained their free shine service. I do think the boots are attractive and also thought the price was very fair considering what I had looked at Cavender's but the main reason I bought those boots was because of Dylan. His consultative selling skills were excellent and I have seen some of the best in my business life. Because of Covid, the Rodeo closed very early which kept me from wearing my boots much and therefore I haven't needed to return for the free shine service but will. read more

I was reading an article that these boots are more for fashion then rugged western wear. So It's questionable how they will hold up on the long run. I have friends give me reviews on both ends. Been a Lucchese guy for many years but needed a TSA compliant work boot that I could wear while visiting construction sites etc. I friend of mine loves Tecovas boots and told me I should really give them a try. So I headed out to look at the Knox. They are a very popular wedge sole roper. Lucchese has something similar but I don't like the way it looks and really like the way these do. So my girlfriend and I head over. Felt welcomed when we walked in, was offered a free drink while we shopped. They didn't have my size but they did find the last one in my size in the US in South Carolina. They called the store and had them shipped to my home. I went in to buy a pair of boots for a funeral and while I'm looking at the selection there's 3 people behind the counter doing nothing while other shoppers are being accompanied by a sales person. I had to go to the counter and ask for help to get any service. I also took notice that customers were walking around with beer/beverages and I was not offered anything my entire time there, only once I realized they were complimentary, I then asked for some water on my way out the door. First of all, when you walk in, it feels like you just entered a friends house. They offer you a drink and ask you what's going on and such. I guess I mean to say, it's a comfortable place to be. Much like their boots! I bought my first pair a few years ago and i've been hooked since. And considering their follow on services and complementary boot polishing (or cleaning/conditioning, can't remember the exact phrase they used) its a great value. Even when i moved to California, they offered to ship me a box to send my boots in for some services. Talk about commitment! I recently started buying their flanels and belts too!
