Our car died and so I called Ted & Joe's towing for a tow to Emo's Auto shop. They were quick to respond - Jibaldi (sp?) came out within 20 minutes and was a pleasure. He offered to try jumping our car before putting it on the truck and it worked! Jibaldi was super friendly and helpful. UNAVAILABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE Called for towing service early Sunday evening, they didn't have anyone available this weekend. I asked when they would be available next (since I didn't need the tow right away), and the woman that answered the phone couldn't tell me, said she was just the dispatcher. I asked when someone would be available after the weekend (tomorrow), said she would have to check her schedule and didn't know, then she put me on hold. A male got on the phone said that they didn't have anyone available. So I asked if they were closed for business? He said I was rude and they didn't want to help me anyway and to have fun. They shouldn't advertise as open 24 hours if they don't really work those hours. read more

Towing companies are businesses you hope you won't need! But when my car developed major transmission issues and needed to be towed to the dealer Ted & Joe's provided excellent service. Andy arrived 5 minutes into the one hour window they gave me. He was courteous, friendly and efficient. Unhappy with the way the chains were sitting against the bumper he switched to straps - very conscientious. Remote card reader for his phone and an email receipt are the little details for small businesses I notice nowadays. Great service overall. read more

Wow!! So disappointed in an interaction with this company this morning. I have used their service 5-6 times in the past, mostly because they are local and I try to use community based businesses. Yesterday I called them and was told an hour wait, when 2 hours had passed, I canceled the service and contacted them again this morning. The driver was here in 10 minutes, had my car started and running in 30 seconds and was told the service fee was $67 (2 months ago when I used them it was $50) Really?!? I spoke with the owner who was almost shouting (rudely) at me as he told me that since I lived in Alameda that I needed to expect to pay top pricing. I did convince him to reduce the rate to $40. I still feel like I was price gouged Never will I use their services again and if you are considering them, keep in mind that although you may try to give back to the community that he gives no breaks to his re-occurring customers and that your loyalty will be unreciprocated. read more

This is the first time I've used Ted & Joe's 24 Hour Towing. Our family's Subaru Forester developed engine trouble late one night, and I needed to get it to a shop; since it's an all-wheel-drive vehicle, it can't be towed with a standard "hoist" tow truck, and needed a flatbed truck to get it to the shop we selected. In addition, I was coming back to the car from about 30 miles away, and wasn't sure when I was going to be able to get there. I called Ted & Joe's about 90 minutes before I knew I'd be at the car and asked for a flatbed tow truck to be there when I got there. Here's what I got: - Driver was on time (or a touch early...but I'd gotten there early as well, so that was okay); - Driver showed up in a flatbed tow truck; - Driver was courteous and friendly; - Driver took every safety precaution when loading my vehicle on the flatbed; - Driver was safe during travel to the shop; and - The total charge for getting our car to the shop was completely reasonable. Entirely pleased with this service experience. Needless to say, I'm hoping NOT to have to have any of our cars towed again...but if I need a tow in Alameda, I know who to call. read more

Rich! You saved the day! Rich is the kindest, most professional tow guy in the entire world. After our moving truck broke down two blocks from our new home, and the truck rental place sent a tow truck to the wrong address (across the bay!), Rich, of Ted & Joe's Towing, came and saved the day. Ted & Joe's was super when I recently needed help. The dispatcher was friendly and gathered all of the info they really needed so they'd send the right trucks to help. They showed up within 10 minutes. I'd tried my car's roadside assistance that came with the warranty, which couldn't even find a truck to send me by the time Ted & Joe's was there. The drivers spent the time needed to figure out how to pull my car up from a ditch without damaging it further. Plus the cost was reasonable. Can't believe I'd ever actually rate a towing company with 5 stars, but they definitely deserve it. read more

I recommend Ted & Joe's based on an amazing good deed. I lost my wallet, cell phone, and other things in a tote bag in Albany and was quite distraught, of course. A couple of days later, Ted & Joe's emailed me that they had the wallet and would mail it to me. I called and arranged to come pick it up. When I got there, I asked the owner where he had found it. He said he was called to tow a broken garbage truck picking up dumpsters in Albany. He was on top of the truck to measure the height (for going under underpasses), and he looked down inside the truck. He noticed a wallet stuck on the chute going into the mass of garbage. He thought, I bet someone would really like to get that back, so he CLIMBED DOWN into the garbage truck and retrieved it! What a fantastic selfless thing to do! He would not take any remuneration for his exceptional good deed, but I want to spread the word to anyone who might need a tow: use Ted & Joe's. The owner clearly does careful work, is observant, is extremely kindhearted, and goes out of his way to help a stranger. I'm extremely grateful to him. read more
