Teddy's had great potential but somehow it became the new kid on the block and got a big head. The food is nothing special but it was convenient, fast, and had a great location (Downey) but the workers are rude! The location is kind of seedy after dark and did I mention the workers are rude?! They take your order as if you're bothering them and then hand you a homemade to go plate and rush you out the window. What's a homemade to go plate you ask? It's a paper plate wrapped in foil...from a restaurant. That's food truck behavior and I expected more from Teddy's. Not to mention, they casually toss your unwrapped tortillas in the bag with your homemade to go plate and send you on your way. A good revamp of the food preparation and improved customer service as well as brand new cashier staff would turn this place around. Eventually Teddys will lose its following because of the rude staff, overpriced commercial tasting food, and preparation of the orders. Save yourself the headache and patronize the many food trucks in Downey and South Gate. read more

Haven't been to Teddys in months Drove through today 9/30/22 only one in line and ordered the deluxe plate that shot up in price and the serving size completely shrank . This place first open it was clean and good, somewhere down the line they let everything go ! We had hair in our food twice on two different trips I refused to go back my husband wanted to try it again as months have gone by well.. it's even worse this time all the food tasted horrible the salsa had a nasty old taste and smelled bad. The tacos tasted like shit. My family and friends I know also had bad food from here with hair also to top off the horrible taste! Not sure what all the hype is about but I wasn't very impressed. The tacos were ok. I asked for tacos dorados and I got some soggy red tacos. I don't know maybe they don't make them crunchy or maybe the cashier didn't hear me due to the loud music blaring from the speaker pointed right at us that hangs almost directly above is. Or maybe it was due to the loud traffic noise coming from Firestone Blvd. To top it off the service was bad. A bunch of kids working in there with bad attitudes. DISAPPOINTING! I've been drooling over IG photos and videos of Teddy's Red Tacos from the very beginning when they were just a taco truck on Slauson. It's been a long time coming but finally was in an area that has a brick & mortar place in Downey. I was so completely disappointed. My friend and I ordered one vampiro and one taco each. Out comes the smallest taco, on a dried up tortilla. The vampiro cheese was barely noticable and it was dry. No stringy, melty nothing. We both looked at each other with astonishment at how underwhelming it was. I also ordered the consume, which was delicious. The birria was very good, but the execution into taco form was meh! Another issue was they do not have cups or ice for the drinks. My friend ordered one of the "aguas" that comes in a large plastic bottle. She wasn't happy she had to drink from the bottle. The service was good, they were friendly, but not enough to inspire me to return. Too bad, I was so excited to finally experience Teddy's Tacos, to then be so disappointed. read more

Very disappointed. I would come here all the time when they open and stopped for a while I ordered again and the food was very salty it was not eatable. And the consomé doesn't taste like consomé. BEAWARE!! Today I visited the location on Firestone Boulevard in the city of Downey. I ordered one Mula with cheese and a consume. The drive thru ordering board states that the consume is $1.99. and the taco is $3.49 at the window the young lady told me my balance was eight dollars and some change I don't remember how much change. She explained the connsume is $4.59 . I said i want without meat And the board says it is $1.99. She said they are all the same and it's $4.59. I said No thank you the Mula only. She said OK that's fine so she went to the cash register and returned to the window. She put her hands into my food bag and proceeded to remove the two red shells with her dirty hands. I was in shock. She handed me the bag and slammed the drive thru window. I did not know she needed those taco shells that badly. I was sooo grossed out!!! I She can not give me two taco shells that were already sealed in a bag that is so unprofessional!! it's terrible!! She would rather throw the tostada shells away or give them to the next customer. She obviously has not taken the food handling required class to work in a restaurant otherwise she would not have went into my sealed food bag. This place should just be renamed TEDDY'S WACK CUSTOMER SERVICE TACOS first of all, if I'm ordering taking my time to order because I've never tried the place, someone on the other end taking my order should be more patient and ask if that's all I'll be ordering. Y'all were not busy for the boomer to be rushing taking my order. I ordered two things and was still looking at the menu because I was going to order a lot of food. After I said my second order she waited like 2 seconds and said the price. $20 something for 2 wack items (Small consome and a deluxe plate.) I said "ohppppp" I DIDNT SAY REPEAT THE PRICE!! She repeated the price with a shitty attitude. Then I said "ohp I wasn't done ordering but I guess" and then doesn't say anything else. That rubbed me the wrong way that's why I bounced!
