They truly changed my opinion about this chain of restaurants. I had tried another location before, and it did not impress me at all. Because of that, I was hesitant to try this one since I expected the same experience. I am so glad I was wrong. This location is much larger, and all you have to do is line up to place your order. At the other location, you had to wait in line just to get a table, which felt like a hassle because you ended up with the same level of service anyway--no actual server. I ordered the Cholo Plate with asada and an asada taco with added cheese. The Cholo Plate comes with tortillas and enough meat to honestly make yourself five good-sized tacos. The cheesy asada taco was amazing. You get to add your own toppings, which was nice because I could load it up exactly how I wanted. My favorite part was that they also had cucumbers available, so I made myself a little cucumber snack with lime and salt while waiting for the food. They bring your food to the table and also come around to clear plates as you finish. The food and service were so good that we went back the very next night during our trip. The second time, I ordered the Papa Loca with adobada (al pastor) meat. I LOVED this one. The adobada had little pieces of pineapple mixed in, which helped keep the potato and all that cheese from feeling too dry. We especially loved the service from Mayra and the rest of the team. Brooooo. I drove all the way to Huntington Park to spend $30 on a potato... and I have absolutely zero regrets. Let me explain. If you've never been to Tacos El Cholo, they're famous for these loaded baked potatoes that basically look like someone took a steakhouse, a taco stand, and a seafood truck and smashed them all together into one glorious situation. I went with the ribeye and shrimp potato, and when I saw it I immediately understood why people drive across counties for this thing. It's stacked. Ribeye chunks, shrimp, melted cheese, all piled on top of a baked potato like a beautiful, slightly chaotic mountain of flavor. Service was stupid fast too. I ordered, gave my fiancé the table number, and went to wash my hands. By the time I came back she was already mid-photo shoot like a full-time food influencer. That's how quick they are here. Naturally, I took my own photos (priorities) and then made moves over to the salsa bar. And let me tell you... that salsa bar is dangerous. They had hella choices. Red sauces, green sauces, chunky ones, smooth ones. But I landed on the orange sauce. And listen... O. M. F. G. The moment that sauce touched my tongue I started making noises (pause) that probably concerned the people at the next table. It's creamy, spicy, smoky, slightly mysterious... the kind of sauce that makes you pause mid-bite and question every other sauce you've ever had. It was kind of a far drive from where we were staying but we ended up coming here for lunch . We came around 12 and were able to find parking right in front . Authentic, unique, and savory tacos! I came here last Sunday for lunch and the place was pretty busy. I appreciated that parking wasn't too bad in the back and that there were plenty of seats inside. I tried their iconic Prime Ribeye taco which did not disappoint. Ordered medium rare and meat was tender and flavorful. I preferred this over the Adobada which I found to be decent as well. I also appreciated the fact that they had a pretty big condiment bar filled with your normal salsa selections, cilantro, onions, and bonus cucumbers! They also have a salsa bar with a great variety, plus a toppings station with onions, cilantro, radishes, and more. The staff was friendly, and the location itself is surprisingly big with both a downstairs and an upstairs, clearly ready for big crowds. The vibe is pretty chill depending on when you go, late nights might get rowdy, but we came during the week and it was calm. Each taco is generously loaded with meat, stacked high on a double-layered tortilla. The condiment station is fantastic, featuring up to six different salsas, alongside unlimited cilantro, onions, limes, and pico de gallo. I'm especially glad such an established taco joint chose to open in Huntington Park. This community deserves great places, and it takes courage and risk to EMPOWER neighborhoods like this. I would say this review covers Tacos Los Cholos- Huntington Park location and it may not be the same in the OC locations. I went to Tacos Los Cholos around 1130am or so on Sunday(its a bit of a drive from the valley and didnt want to deal with major downtown traffic). This place has been getting lots of influencer love, and I wanted to see if this place was a contender for the best Tacos in SoCal. Many folks seem to think it is. I ordered the Wagyu taco, since thats their special thing(Its a "secret order" at like $ 19 ;O ), A ribeye surf and turf which was about $9 or so, a Pork Belly($4), a Filet Mignon (about $9), and a plain Carne Asada for $3. The non-Wagyu tacos came out within 5 or so minutes, so I had to dash to the salsa bar quickly for toppings. It was large with lots of different toppings and salsas. I took some red, guac-green, and the chipotle, with a bag of onions/cilantro. The tacos were fairly small but loaded with filling. These were all store bought-or mass produced commercial tortillas. I think the tortillas were too small to hold the fillings. The Filet was very good and tender, and didnt need a lot of salsa. The chipotle was their best. Others were fine. I thought in general the Filet was quite salty. The ribeye-surf and turf was good too, but I wasnt blown away, also a bit salty. I think Mariscos Corona in Van Nuys makes a superior one. The Pork Belly was nice, but also "salty". Surprisingly their regular Carne Asada wasnt very memorable other than very salty. I think in general Carne Asada gets too much love for being mostly a mid taco. It took another 10 minutes after for me to get the Wagyu taco which I asked for med-rare, and they did that. This taco had great flavor and the saltiness was less pronounced on it. It was good enough that you could eat this without salsa. Its close to exceptional. I think charging $9-20 for premium and bougie tacos you cant just use commercial made tortillas. They should at least go to one of the Tortillerias of which many are nearby and just get the dough and make fresh tortillas. Even if the tacos were an inch larger they would hold the fillings better and look larger. There are very few places that can get away without making fresh tortillas, and this place isnt one of them. The place itself is very "hip" inside with a glass window grilling table where they cook their meats before slicing/finishing them in the kitchen behind the counter. Staff were nice, and the place seemed professional. For many folks Tacos Los Cholos is a top 10 and even top 5 in SoCal. I wouldnt put it close to that. Its pretty good and worth a try if you want the Wagyu taco and some of their other novelties. If I ever make it to Fullerton or Anaheim, I would try those locations and see if the quality is better, and worthy of "Best Of". I was still hungry and decided to head to Taqueria Frontera after on the way home. Their plain Carne Asada was superior to Tacos Los Cholos by a NYC avenue. The rest of Frontera's order didnt disappoint either. They are a top 5 - top 10 place and the quality hasnt gone down since I last went. They also used fresh tortillas. read more

We found this place on TikTok. We found parking right in front. You have to walk all the way in the restaurant to order. They have screens with the menu. I ordered 2 asada and brisket tacos with a Jamica. You sit anywhere you want and they give you a number. When you get your tacos you can add your own salsa and lemon. They cook the meat over wood and you can definitely taste it. The don't skimp of the meat one taco has a lot of meat. The brisket taco is the best taco I've ever had in my life. It was absolutely perfect it's worth every penny. The asada was good and loaded with meat. The Jamaica was perfect! It was not too sweet just perfect. My husband found tacos Los cholos from his feed and wanted to try it when we visited LA. The price was good, most of the tacos were $3-4 and had loads of meat. The special part of los cholos is that they have very premium meats available if you wanted them. We did not order them but we ordered one of each - chorizo, asada, adobada, cured steak and pork Belly. Our favs were the adobada and asada. The meat was nicely seasoned and juicy. Paying the extra cost for premium is not exactly necessary because the usual taco is already supreme, but it sure is worth the treat! Mulita: 5/5 - This was my first time getting a mulita. Just for the whole family to receive their food and even finish eating before any of the food runners or servers even noticed that we had been waiting 20 minutes plus for our food. The tortillas were very tiny and not fresh tortillas and I would recommend just going with the regular Carne Asada and chicken as the value is much better and they were almost just as good. They have a lot of different salsa options. The habanero definitely has some real heat and the guacamole was good. I would say this place lets the meat speak for itself.
