Came here for my belated birthday celebration after a day of wine tasting in Santa Barbara. My partner & I were staying in Carpinteria and thought this restaurant would be good for dinner as it was on the way back to our hotel and seemed like a cute low-key spot with outdoor seating. We got seated outdoor with heat lamps right away, and had very attentive service. For our meals, we both had our own tacos with fries -- mine with salmon, and his with spicy cauliflower. We also shared their a board of their margarita flights that came with three types: their Rincon margarita (mezcal and ginger spin on it), Tommy's margarita (your usual kind) , and Seasonal margarita (which I think was a spicy guava kind!). Service was very fast and everything was fresh and delicious. We both finished our meals without any leftovers and feeling very full. Prices were very reasonable for a nice, casual dinner that was away from the Santa Barbara crowds. If we drove, parking wouldn't have been an issue either. I would definitely come back next time to try more seafood dishes. read more

Such a chill atmosphere and great food! Sat on the patio with our dog. The servers were all really nice and brought him water and treats. I had the shrimp and grits that were outstanding. My son had the fish tacos that he loved and lift delicious. Fish was perfectly battered and crispy, so I imagine there fish and chips are fantastic too! Definitely worth it! read more

This is one of the easiest "5's" I've written in a long time. The food and drinks were absolutely fantastic, the service excellent, and though the prices were a bit above average, the value was outstanding. My family and I we took a train from Ventura to Carpintera to enjoy the day. We were about a group of 10. As soon as we walked up we were greater so great , clean environment & nice host. When we got our server she wasn't too nice ... when my father was ordering his food he switched his mind and she rolled her eyes , crossed her arms and puffed. She checked in on us once. Our drinks took 14 mins to come out , and mind you there were about 4 parties when we were there. The tap water provided it tasted horrible and the ice tasted "old" and bitter. Then our food took awhile as well ... everything besides the water offered in gorgeous jugs , it was delicious. Customer service is getting out of touch with the community , I wish our server was just a bit more patient and kind - it would've made our experience significantly different. read more

I've been excited to try this place for a long time but Carp is a bit out of our way. Finally made it and I have to say I was disappointed in the food (service was great). I've had thin clam chowder, I've had thick clam chowder - I've never had this stuff, which I'd describe as clam paste. I wish I'd gotten a picture, but I could scoop it up in my spoon and hold the spoon upside down and it would just stay there. Honestly that wouldn't have been the end of the world if it hadn't been extremely bland, but it was also lacking in flavor. Tough to do for something that claims to contain bacon. My spicy honey chicken sandwich was not bad but nothing to write home about either. I wouldn't describe it as spicy, though. read more

Great place for a couple of drinks at sunset. Not super impressive execution of the margarita flight, though it seemed like a fun idea, nor were we blown away by the food-- except for the caesar salad dressing, which seemed freshly made and was absolutely delicious. The bacon wrapped dates were also really tasty- especially the glaze that they were in (drippings from bacon and dates, I'm guessing). I dipped the fries in that and the leftover caesar dressing! I'd have loved more lettuce volume in the salad. We got our food to go but the bartenders and servers seemed really nice. read more

We ate at Teddys last night. The halibut piccata was beyond delicious.. Fresh with a lemon & capers cream sauce.. Hubby had the large shrimp cocktail. Again, another excellent choice. You've got to try the homemade rolls. Melt in your mouth. Ava was our server. Such a sweet girl with a beautiful smile & so knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely go back again soon. The only thing that ruined the evening, was 2 elderly grumpy women in the next booth. They walked in with a chip on their shoulder.. Nothing was good enough.... They openly berated Ava because of a restaurant policy.... There was absolutely nothing she could do to please them. Even the manager, Lisa, tried to diffuse the situation.. But the old ladies seem to enjoy complaining about Ava.. Both husband & I told them how rude that were being.. If I owned this restaurant, I would refuse service to them, if they ever return. read more

Stopped by for lunch on the way home from Pismo Beach. We were seated outside, as we had our dogs with us; we noticed most of the patrons dined outside, enjoying the perfect weather. The hostess was a sweetheart to our dogs and gave them a bowl of water. We ordered a variety of appetizers to share, including bacon wrapped dates, ceviche and poke nachos. My son had the cioppino, the other son had the seared ahi, and my husband had the fish & chips. Everything came out fairly quickly, and was delicious. I had a taste of almost all of the dishes we ordered and it would be safe to say that anything on Teddy's menu will be yummy! Could definitely taste the freshness and good quality of the ingredients used in the dishes. read more

Here on a work trip.... Not too familiar with the area, but this place is small and it seems like it would be pretty decent food. We ordered: - coconut shrimp, which I think was overcooked, BUT the chipotle sauce was really good - poke nachos, I should have known not to get poke here haha, but it was edible - baja fish tacos were really good! but it did need some more lime, luckily we had some of the chipotle sauce and used that to give it more of a kick All in all, can't go wrong with this place, but I'd like to try something different, the next time I'm in town. read more

Teddys might be the best food in carp. The stuffed dates were the highlight! We also had the ahi tuna, salmon, and fish n chips and all were excellent. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. The ambiance is super chill too with the front patio street-side seating. The only drawback is they close super early, 730 pm. read more

Came here after a bike ride in Carp. I had the local halibut with broccolini. It was so incredibly overcooked that my jaw actually hurt from chewing it after awhile. It was also extremely bland. My husband had the cioppino which was also bland and the seafood in it extremely overcooked as well. So in the end we paid $100 bucks for some really overcooked flavorless seafood and a mocktail. Spicy Chicken Sandwich - 5 stars - super good. Great sweet to spicy ratio. I didn't get it, but it had me second-guessing my choice. Cedar plank salmon - 5 stars - great flavor. The portion felt a bit small for the price. It was all very flavorful. Crabcake appetizer - 5 stars - we get crabcakes most everywhere we go that offers them. These were some of the best. Again, a little small for the price, but the flavor was high. Clam chowder - 5 stars - those who hadn't loved it. Bread and butter appetizer - 3 stars - we have a simple rule as the family. If they offer bread and butter as an appetizer, we have to get it. Normally it is spectacular. These were very meh. Overall, it was great. If we find our way back to the area. Over 4th of July weekend, we stopped by Teddy's for lunch and spent a pleasant time dining on their outdoor patio. While the restaurant is not directly "by the sea," it is only a few blocks away. No matter though because they churn out some really good food, and we enjoyed it. I ordered their grilled fish tacos, which had wild Alaskan cod fillets, cabbage slaw, white cheddar cheese, cilantro crema on corn tortillas. Very tasty, as were the homemade potato chips. My husband ordered the shrimp po'boy, and he loved every bite of it. I would definitely eat here again. The food was well prepared and tasty. read more

Decided to spend my 30th birthday lunch with Teddys this last week and we pretty dissapointed with the food. However, we sat outside and the ambiance was very cute there. So we defenitly enjoyed the scenery, but ultimately we had come for the food. We came by on the 15th and noon and got seated right away. Our server was nice and helpful and our food was our rather quick. I had been craving fish n chips and decided based on the Yelp photos I would try it because it looked so good. However, these were probably the most bland fish n chips I have ver bad. I only ate one fish piece and left the rest. Fries were very good though. Overall I rated my dish a 2 out of 10. My partner tried the crab sliders and she said they were ok. She rated her dish a 4 out of 10. We had mojitos with our lunch and the cocktails were very good! Kudos to the bartender. I would of rated this place with one star but due to the good cocktails and ambiance, I'm giving it two stars. Just stay clear of these two dishes, you have been warned. read more

Last weekend we stopped by Teddy's By The Sea for lunch. It might be the last time I do that. I ordered the fish tacos and it was ok. They didn't have flavor and even the salsa didn't have any kick to it. We also ordered the Poke Nachos. It was covered in syrup teriyaki and soy sauce. It took away the flavor and made it taste like a sweet, salty and soggy poke dish. That being said our waiter was very attentive and quickly took our order. Located in the middle downtown Carpinteria, Teddy's has a great location and great view of the town. Hopefully the food can come up and match the staff and setting. read more

Teddy's in the vicinity of the ocean :) was what we decided on for a late lunch on a Friday. It was outstanding! They have a large patio and a few tables inside. We were well taken care of by the staff. I got the usual a grey goose up martini, my friend had the mai tai, we split a spicy cocktail that was my fav. Calamari was great, my friend had a taco that she enjoyed. For entree's I had the ahi it was fresh and I loved the veggies and sauce it came with. My friend had the cedar planked salmon it was juicy. Excellent food and service. I had the fried chicken. The chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans were all very good.

What a lovely experience. We sat on the patio on a perfect evening for a light bite. The crab cakes were served perfectly hot on a bed of crispy cabbage slaw. Wonderful! The ahi tuna nachos were great, too. Fresh chunks of tuna were plentiful and the wasabi was not too spicy. Service was attentive and pleasant. Only negative was the ice water had a "taste" that the server acknowledged but didn't offer to replace or substitute with anything else.
